She lay on the dry sand, watching the waves crash on the shore. The sand was warm on her blue and white hide. Sighing in contentment, the roan mare closed her brown eyes against the glare of the sun. Another load crash as the waves broke on the shell splattered shore and the the mare flicked her ears back, away from the ocean sounds. A sigh escaped her white muzzle, she was so comfortable here. Though a nagging thought kept saying "move". Move where, she wasnt sure. Maybe to find company. Others should join her. This beach was lovely. She shifted slightly, altering her weight, though stayed where she was... waiting...

Ebony bodice moved at a swift canter along the surf of the sea, water spraying up and hitting his Arabian face. He snorted and moved farther into the sea. His canter did not slow as he moved into the deeper water. He soon slowed and moved back up to the red sands of the north beach. As he emerged from the water, he shook off much like a dog does, to rid his pure obsidian pelt of as much water as he could manage. He walked along under the warm spring sun. A whole flock of gulls were ahead of him. His ebony optics looked to see what they were doing. They were fighting over a dead fish that had washed ashore. He sighed and walked past the brood of gulls. He scented the air as he lifted his fine, ebony skull up into the warm Mair. He caught the scent of the sea, gulls, pelicans, fish, and an equine. He trotted on looking for this new scent. He finlly saw a beautiful mare up ahead. "Hello m'lady." he said as he approached her form, "I am Lassan. Who might you be?"

She only comes to me in my dreams, so sleep becomes addicting. It's not healthy it's what makes you right, it's not healthy it's what makes you..
Lenses flicker, assessing the area. "What the hell am I doing here..." he mumbles quietly. In fact, it was more a statement than a question. He's not one to doubt himself, no matter how bad the decision. However, at first glance, this mare doesn't seem to be his type.
Instinct the only thing pushing him forward, he stares at her with doubting eyes. Maybe his standards are just too high. If he hasn't found a worthy mare yet... no, it can't be him, it's just the mares... bad genetics, the mares these days just aren't producing quality fillies. But is there something special about this particular one? Something that's making him doubt everything he once believed in? She's sparked his interest for sure...
Shaking the dust off his ivory coat, it begins to take on that eerie, glowing hue. Pistons striking the ground, splashing water and grains of sand. He curls his neck, an invitation for the mare to walk over. "Hello my dear, I'm Esprit. Very.. pleased.. to meet you." With much consideration he decided for the first time, he actually meant it.
It's all so new to him, feeling something besides disgust for a mare. The mere thought of being interested in her leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. Don't fall for them, or you'll get hurt. The words of his father. Up until now he's been able to listen to it. But now, with the waves flowing under his sturdy frame, and the sand blowing up and tickling his face, he knows he can't hold back anymore.

Having finally decided to stand up, River stood square, gazing out to the ocean when she heard the foot falls of horses. To one side, a fine black stallion had stepped up. He was a proud looking thing. River arched her neck slightly, feeling she should make herself that little bit more fancy or he might think less of her. When he spoke though he didn't seem to. "Greetings Lassan. I am River." Her voice was smooth and slightly deep, like a pool of water. Hearing the second beast come up to her off side, River smiled sweetly to Lassan. "Please, excuse me a moment." The roan then turned a blue dyed head towards the new comer. This one, a stallion of complete opposite colouring to the first, spoke in a very charming manner as well. A very warm meeting to this place she most certainly has had. "and a Hello to you as well Esprit. Call me River." Pale hooves dug into the dirt as River stepped backwards, allowing both stallions into a view. "please, can one of you tell me where this place is?" Though her coat had dried off now, her dark mane was slightly frizzled from the water swirling around it. Her brown eyes flicked from one to the other, awaiting an answer.

"It is a pleasure to meet you River." he said with a small bow to show respect. He waited for her as she greeted the other stag that had mjust come up to them. "You are on Isola Dei Dei, an island off the coast of Italy." he replied to her question. He thought she was a native to the island, or she had atleast been here awhile. She did seem like she had just come though. She seemed, well, a bit lost. "Where are you from River?" he asked the beautiful essa.

"I come from far away... I was washed ashore from the nearby coast. Though that isn't my homeland. Mine is far to the south and then east." River's gaze was on the ocean now. Home was a long way away. She had not been there for so long now. Though she couldn't go back. She couldn't face it. She shook herself suddenly, a few flecks of sand taking flight from her coat. River glanced at the stallions, hoping the emotions didn't show to clearly. Are you both native to Isola Dei Dei?" She hoped she pronounced it correctly.

So she lived very far away. He thought. I wonder what has brought her here, to Isola Dei Dei? He looked to the other stag, who apperantly looked as if he was lost in thought, starring off into space. Lassan returned his attention to the beautiful paint mare in front of him. "Yes, I was born omn this island. My father was a native here and my mother camr over from England. But yes, I am a native as you could say." He pused and took a breath. "If you do not mind me asking you River, how did you end up here, on Isola Dei Dei?"

River was gazing at the other stud, Esprit. If a horse had an eyebrow to raise, River would have been doing just that. Hearing Lassan's voice broke the questioning gaze. Her brown eyes flicked to him quickly. So his mother was not a native to here. At least she wasn't the only one then. Well, she wasnt sure about Esprit. Lassan was continuing. "I went swimming..."She shifter her weight, looking down shyly. Embarrassed, before quickly adding. "I was washed out to sea. I swim well, but I was caught in the current and it carried me here." She looked at him, a self concious smile. River loved the water, any kind, it was like her element. The fact she had been caught in it like that made her feel a little stupid.

Lassan listened to whot River said. "At least you are a good swimmer. Who know what could have happened if you were not." He looked up to he sky as a seagull flew over his head, calling out to others of its kind. He turned his attention back to River. Lassan figurde a rip tide or an under tow took her out to sea. He did wonder how far she was carried. He loked to the other stag who had called himself Esprit. He seemed to not be taking any interest in River or in Lassan. "So River, would ou like to know more about the island that you have landed on?" If he was her, he would surely want to know more about the place he had just come to. He lookd to her waiting for an answer.

River watched the gull as well, turning her head back at almost the same moment as Lassan. She smiled slightly and looked back out to the ocean. Her tail swished lightly, the deep blue tips brushing across her white legs. She did want to know more. It was strange to find an island, more or less in the middle of no where. "I would. What is here? are there alot of horses? any humans?" She looked back to the black stallion. Ears flicked towards him with a curisous look on her face.

"This island consists of many different terrains, from red sandy beaches like the one we are on now to ice capped mountains. None of us really know how large this island is. Many different creatures live here, but you could say that horses rule the land. There are not any humans here. Humans have tried to come but never had any luck. The seas are horrid, and the air above, for the planes, it usually in a restricted zone. It is a lovely place to live and explore, though there are some dangers. " he replied to her questions. "Would you like to know anthing else about Isola Dei Dei?" he asked the beautiful essa.

Listening quietly River was surprised how this place could be so hidden. It was like the island was held just for beasts. She stretched her thick white smeared neck. "Is there somewhere to eat?" She asked after a moments thought. "I have only just realized how hungry I actually am." She smiled at him. ears pricked hopefully at the thought of a meal. This place seemed pretty well grown, so the grass much be lush.

"Yes there are many places to graze here. The closest one is about a five minute walk from here, in a valley called Belle Valle. It means beautifl valley in english. I'm sure you will find it to your liking. Would you like for me to show you the way?" he replied to her question about finding something to eat. He flicked his ebonite banner as a fly landed on his hindquarters. He pricked his audits forward as he awaited her reply.

River tossed her head happily in concent. She would enjoy a small walk with this stallion. "Yes, that would be kind of you." she said smiling and stepping daintly closer to him. She stretched out her blue neck to him, blue ears pricked up. "You have been very kind Lassan. Especially to a stranger like myself." Her muzzle brushes down his neck lightly, lips plucking at his mane before the white nose retreated. River stood looking at him then, as though waiting.

Lassan smiled as she spoke. "follwo me then River" he said after she had plucked his mane with her white muzzle. He lead her to the valley. They soon left the red sanded beach far behind. "Well here it is. Belle Valle. You may eat as much as you would like. There is always enough for every one." He walked next to her waiting to see when she would graze. He snorted a a fly landed on his black velvet muzzle.
