River listened, ears cocked towards him. When he was siletnly again, River looked at him. "I understand. It was hard for me. I usually only travelled by night, hiding out during the day. Moving around city edges. The small towns we're the worst. Cities, people would stop and stare, like they were shocked to see a horse in the area. Towns though, I would have to run like the wind." She tossed her head. She wasnt a fast mare, but she was cunning and could outsmart them to escape. "It is good though, to come here and relax. To not have to hide and be on edge about whree they are." she nodded silently. it was easier here.

Lassan listened to her tell about her travels around the humans. "So exciting in a dangerous sort of way. Did any of the people ever try to capture you?" He paused for a moment to let her answer his question. He had so many bout the world, and she probably had many about the island. It would be fun for them to get to know about each other's places.

River nodded lightly. "Yes, quite often. But usually they won't cahse for long. I have had a few come after me in those large colurful things. They make alot of noise."River snorted, flicking her mane about. Cars we're a frightening thing to her. She had seen many but they still spooked her. "This place is wonderful. Are there any... quiet places..."She didn't know how to say a more private area. Even if this place was quiet. Giving a small shiver, River moved off out of the water. She stood on the bank and shook herself vigerously. Standing there she awaited him to answer or join her.

"Yes I know what you are talking about. Trucks? Cars? I'm not to sure what they are called but my mother and father told me about them from their lives with the humans." He paused for a minute as River asked him if there were quieter places here. She then got out of the water shivering. Lassan soon realized the he too was cold. He got out after her. "Yes there are lots of places, just depends on what kind of terrain you would like to be in? What do you prefer? Beaches, forrests, jungles, mountians?" He then shook himself off, even though the water only covered his chest and below. He hoped she had an idea of what terrain she preferred. This land had so many it was unbelievable. He looked to her as he waited for her answer.

Looking towards the waterfall, listening to its booming voice, she considered the options. She was feeling a little sick of beaches, after what had happened. Jungles we're nice, warm too. But a mountain. Like home. maybe the lowlands. Round but not quite mountiains. Looking at him realizing how long she was suddenly quiet for, River reached across and nibbled at his crest, grooming his fine black mane. She wasn't sure where she wanted to go, just somewhere would be nice. She couldn't help but stay silent. Still not sure where exactly she wanted to go. The roan continued grooming his neck gently.

Lassan watched a hummingbird fly past their heads as River looked to the waterfall in what seemed like thought. Lassan attention was brought back as River started to groom his flowing, ebony banner. He smiled an returned the gesture to her, grooming her grey roan and white mane. After River had not said anyhting for a while, he figured she might just want some timme to think, or just to clear her thoughts. He continued to groom her lovely banner as he listened to the relaxing sound of the wind, waterfall, birds and the distant crashing of waves from beyonf the mountian.

River sighed suddenly, pulling away from him. Stepping back she moved along the bank, towards a patch that was sandy, yet dry. Glancing at him from under her blueish locks, she laid down. Folding her striped legs beneath her painted bulk, River gave a small grunt then relaxed. She closed her eyes with another sigh, thinking to herself. Remembering Lassan River was about to speak, but decided to await his reaction.

Lassan stepped back to let her move forward as she pulled away fomr him. He watched with his obsidian orbs as she walked over to a dry, sandy part of the bank. She folded her legs and then laid down in the soft sand and closed her optics. He walked a bit closer to her and said "River, are you ok?"

River opened her eyes and looked up at Lassan sadly. Thinking where to begin. Finally, not watching him, instead her brown gaze to the water, River spoke. " You see Lassan, in a few days I will be in heat. At that time I don't want to be force breed. So i will leave you and stay away, else my scent might tempt you...." She spoke slowly. Hoping he would understand. She had done this with other stallions. Or to be exact, left the heard when it was time. " The only think is... I am tempted to so often to have a foal again, but still, the thoughtof my colt..." She sighed, unsure of herself. Unsure of her feelings. She wanted a foal, to raise and love. But not to have to carry it and lose it like the last. "I don't quite know what to do..." She looked up at him, confusion clouding her eyes.

Lassan walked closer to her and looked down to her as she spoke to him. "I understnd River. And just to let you kmnow, I would never force breed a mare." he replied after her first statement. He flicked his ebonite banner as she continued on speaking. He understood about her not knowing what to do. It had been the same for his cousin. In fact, last he heard his cousin, Batalla, was still on her own. It had been so hard for her losing her colt Diez. It must be the same for River. he reasoned to himself. "Do what your heart tells you to do." was his response to her unsureness.

River gave a small nod. Slight but still noticable. Turning her head to watch the waterfall, she was silent, thinking. She was glad he would never do that. Many a dark stallion she had had a run in would do so. One now had a rather nasty limp after getting kicked in his back leg. "I will wait and see how I feel abot the matter when I am in heat...." She said quietly. She wanted a foal, really she did, but still the fear of it dying held her heart in its iron grasp.

He backed up a step as she turned her head. It must be hard for her. he thought as he too watched the water cascade down from the falls. He nodded as she said she would wait to see how she felt about it after going into heat. Lassan's ebonite dial turned upward to the heavens. The sun was going down. The sky was tinted with reds and oranges and the sun looked like a firey crimson explosion. The night was coming. Lassan liked the night for some reason. He would say tht night was his favourite time of day, but tht would be an oxymoron, so he just said it was his favourite time in the twenty four hour period.

River noted the light darkening. She raised her head to the sky, watching the sun go down. She fit in at night, Her roan coat hiding her to just a shadow, and white markings giving a ghostly glow in the moonlight. With a grunt, the mare struggled to her feet. Snorting with effort River stood there and shook herself throughly. She flicked her tail and stood licking her lips, satisfied with the shake. "Should we go somewhere to rest.... She asked the black stallion calmly.

Lassan continued to look at the now dark blue sky, when he heard River begin to speak. He turned his obsidian dial and said in reply "Sure, follow me River" he turned back to the path they took fromm the woods. It was a nice night so he decided to rest in the tall, soft grass of the main valley. As they came into the valley it was lit up by the moon light, for they sky was now black and millions of stars flickered. The moon's light was surprisingly bright for only a cresent moon. He led her over to a small grove of palmish type trees near the cliff wall.

River followed silently, her shape but a breath or esistance. Except for her shimmering white markings. River watched her stallion ahead of her, his onw hide dark and ghostly in the night. Once under the trees, River flitted lightly to his side. If it wasn't for her white socks, it would have seemed the mare was walking on air. Stanging on his right, River reached over and nuzzled his shoulder. She smiled briefly. then closed her eyes, giving a small sigh as her hed lowered and her muscles relaxed.
Occ: sorry to have taken so long to answer.
