River lead the way through the mountain pass. Jogging along ahead, River gave an excited whinny as the main valley floor came into view. She lead the way for Asianne, a new mare. She hoped the young dark hued fae would stay. She enjoyed her company. Stopping on a ledge, just as her stallion had done for her, River waited for Asianne o join her. Below them, the main valley spread out and trees and a river could be seen. "Welcome to my home." River said, arching her neck proudly.

They began upwards, following the rough track through the harsh terrain. Pursuing the painted mare, she trotted in time, footfalls echoing through the valley. The track smoothed out into a ridge, and River halted at the edge. Following her gaze, Asianne gasped in wonder at the splendour of the scenery. Such vast, picturesque stretches of meadows, forests and rivers extended as far as the eye could see.
She realised that River was awaiting her response. “It’s… gorgeous. So much bigger than I had expected! You’re a very lucky mare to have such a free rein in this wondrous land.” Her eyes were widened beyond belief, thoughts whirling in her mind.
Asianne beamed at River. She was so looking forward to meeting Lassan, but nervous at the prospect of convening with the ruler of such a spacious land. Would he deem her fit for a position in his herd?

"Yes, is is large. Lassan said he has not explored all of it yet." River said this while looking out over the valley, smiling. It was a beautiful place. She was sure Asianne would enjoy it here. "Come my friend, and we shall go down and hunt for my stag." She gave a small chuckle, knowing that such a large territory could hide him anywhere. Turning to the right, River walked carefully to a small path, leading down onto the valley floor. Tossing her head River gave a small neigh for the dark mare to follow and started down the path, careful where she placed her pinkish hooves.

She began the descent towards the valley, small stones sliding down the pathway with every cautious step she took. Asianne liked the fact that River labelled her a "friend" so soon. She was always a friendly filly, and into marehood she brought along her friendliness but gained a certain cautiousness as well. Neighing in reply, she slipped a few metres due to lack of concentration. After a few minutes of the steep decline, the trail evened to a wider pathway.
She caught up with the other mare, still full of energy. Her five-year old body was still maturing and getting use to her active lifestyle. Despite the long swim, and little rest, she felt that she could go on without a break for many a day. Pulsing veins, she walked side-by-side with River, standing alert. Asianne's ears flickered behind her, listening to the sounds of native birds and animals feeding.
She hoped Lassan wouldn't be repelled by her blinded left eye. Her ears often acted as a main sense, in replacement of her bad eye. The eyesight in her right eye was rapidly deteriating, clouding over, casting shadows. But her other senses were rather strong; she could smell a horse from miles away.
Speaking of senses; Asianne's nostrils flared. A new scent was nearing; and it was that of a stag.

River walked stride for stride with the dark mare. She noted how she carried herself. She had seen it in blind horses. The way they stepped, the way their head was tilted and ears alert. Tohugh River would not ask, for she did not want to upset. But she was sure that was the case.
Flicking her forelock from her brown eyes, River pranced forwards, the hard touch of rock disappearing from benether hard hooves and giving way to soft and spongy grass and dirt. She took a few dancing steps, looking much like one of those dressage horses the men trained. Stopping suddenly, she too caught his scent. Stand square with her neck arched and tassle lifted, River sent her deep call to her stallion. She stood quivering all over, awaiting his answer.

Lassan stood grazing almost in the woods, when he heard River's call. His dial lifted and his ebony zeniths pricked skyward. His nares flared as he caught the scent of no only river, but a new mare. River must have found her in one of the unclaimable lands. He broke into a canter as he came out of the woods. He let out a loud whinny to let her knoow that he had heardm her call. His ebony form seemed to fly across the ground as he broke into a gallop. He soon slowed as he neared River and her new found herd mate. He slowed as he neared the two mares.

River reached over and nipped Asianne lightly. "That is my stallion" She said as his black bulk cantered towards them. She tossed her head and stamped a pink hoof. As Lassan came closer River stepped up to met him. She stretched out her nose to him, giving a low whuffling greeting. Stepping sideways, she allowed Asianne into view more. " Lassan, this is Asianne." River said proudly.

Lassan strectched out his black veltvet maw to greet River in return. As she momved to the side, she introduced Asianne. Lassan stepped forward to greet the new comer. "Welcome Asianne. How are you today?" He looked to River very pleased and happy that she found a new horse to join the herd.

Only moments after catching his scent, the ebony stallion cantered into view. Muscles bunched in his rhythmic, three-beat gait, Lassan was a sight of pure beauty. He slowed to greet them, tossing his refined head. Asianne became flustered at the prospect of being one of Lassan's herd. "I am well. River has shown me around some of Isola Dei Dei, and she led me here. I must say, Terra Delle Liberta is absolutely stunning. Have you been here long?"When she first replied, she had kept her head low, but at the last sentence raised it, presenting her left, azure orb. She hoped that her blindness didn't repel him, for he had to accept her for her. If not.... Asianne's thoughts trailed off, not wanting to think negatively. OOC ;; That's alright

Lassan's audits perked as Asianne began to speak to him. "Well, I have lived on Isola Dei Dei my whole life. I was born here in a far off land in the dark areas of the island. I have lived here in Terra Delle Liberta for about a year now." He replied to her question. He paused to take a few breaths. He stamped an ebony dagger as a fly landed on his leg. As Asianne turned her dial, Lassan could see that she was in fact, blind in one eye. Not that this bothered him at all. "How long have you been on this island Asianne?" he asked the vixen.

Asianne bowed her head, humbled. "Not very long... I swam the great sea dividing Isola Dei Dei from the mainland only days ago. River discovered me in Belle Valle, and led me here. However, before my birth my mother ran with her herd here. The equine influenza struck during the Winter, and many died. So, my mother decided to give me a chance at life, by migrating back to Italy."
She examined the steed and his mare, both silent at her words. "With an unborn me in her stomach, she took the long shot and swam back to the mainlands. Shortly after giving birth to me she passed on, and I was adopted by another herd whilst wandering the plains. The infected on Isola Dei Dei were killed, and the remaining starved. If it hadn't been for my mother's impulsive actions, we both would've died with them."
Asianne's eyes shon with unshed tears, which she attempted to shake away. It was a long time ago... five Summers had passed. Lives had been lost, lives had been gained. That's just how Mother Nature works... something must be sacrificed in order for something to be gained.
She glanced at Lassan and River.
Quietly, she spoke yet again. "...and now, at last, I am home."

Lassan nodded his fine head as she spoke. He had heard from his parents about the few unlucky herds that suffered terribly from the outbreak. He had never heard of or met a horse, who's parents lived on the island and had a foal on the mainland and that foal came back to the island. Lassan saw that her lovely optics held some unshed tears. He knew it was hard for her, her parents dying when she was so very young. "How did you know about the island if your mother was not around to tell you when you became older?" he asked. He hoped the question would not make her more upset, he was just curious as to how she would know about it without her mother telling her.

Asianne nodded, understanding his curiosity. "It is known to me because upon my dam's swim to the mainlands, she had collapsed on the very beach she departed the coast of Italy from. After giving birth to me, she told me all she had witnessed. Aye, I was but a very small fae, and didn't quite understand when she said that she was leaving this world.
I thought it too soon; asked why she had to leave as soon as I came. She merely shook her head, and nudged me to my feet. She said I had a chance at life, when she had used hers. I begged her not to leave but... well, you can't choose when to die. She was destined to die then, and I was destined to find the herd. Both our fates were fulfilled, though hers before mine."
Asianne exhaled, remembering the pale of her mother's face, the stiffness of her bones. She had wandered the plains before being a day old, but had luckily been found by the herd within a few hours. An elderly mare pitied her, generating the milk that she so desperately needed. And now, here she was. Five years later. Yet if it hadn't been for her dam's swim, she wouldn't have even lived a year.

"Ah, OK." he said, now understnding how she came to know of the island. He thought about his own past for a mimnute and then shook his head to rid it of the thoughts. "So Asianne, would you like to see more of Terra Delle Liberta?" He thought she might, since she jsut came here and was standing in the main valley of the land.

She was intrigued to be shown around the island on which she was conceived. "Indeed, I would love to," Asianne spoke softly but assuredly, agreeing with the handsome stallion. There was much to see, as of yet she had only seen Belle Valle and this valley. Asianne had initially given the beach she swam upon no second glance, continuing to Belle Valle instead. Curiosity was nagging her, and she wanted to familiarise herself with the beautiful surroundings. If she was to join a herd, she must first know the terrain. ooc ;; It's alright, I have a fairly small post too.
