speech ! thoughts !
With the wind blowing through her mane, Halloween let a big smile cross her muzzle. Oh, how the day was to be a wonderful one. Flicking her ears ever so slightly, she glanced at Fortinbras, her eyes sparkling faintly. |
I don't care where we go, as long as we're together. It was true. She didn't care where they went, they could swim away from the island for all she cared. As long as Fortinbras was next to her, she would be happy and cheerful anywhere. The Arabian took a few steps toward the forest line, ears perked as she listened to the spring birds singing. Slapping her tail against her hind, she took a swift glance at the black stallion, then took off at a gallop into the trees.
Weaving through the blooming trees, the penny colored mare felt free. Hooves pounded against the ground hard, leaving shallow imprints within the soft dirt, snapping twigs that she ran over. A few minutes into the run, she slowed, to make sure Fortinbras was following after her. Trotting along, her tail swayed slowly behind her. Following a worn deer path through the trees, she slowed to a walk. The path was wide enough for the two to walk side by side if they wanted to.[/blockquote] YOUR LOVE IS MY DRUG [kesha]. TWO TWELVE. LIZZEH 2011

Fortinbras
"My thoughts exactly." the stallion agreed. A small smile seemed to stay permanently etched onto his maw as the pair moved into the trees. Fortinbras jumped a bit as Halloween took off through the woods. The ebony stallion pinned his ears back and let out a whinny as he barreled after her, a smile still on his face. Halloween certainly liked to play games, which was more than fine with Fortinbras. Halloween was a unique mare, she still had a lot of spirit and youth left in her.
The stag slowed his pace as he saw the Arab jogging along the path in front of him. He continued to canter until he was next to her. "I swear you're gonna be the death of me Halloween." he said with a chuckle. "So shall we go exploring the island today? I know some wonder places. Actually, now that I think about it they aren't too far from where we are now. What d'you say? Follow me." he said without giving her the option to respond. With that said the stallion pushed past her and broke into a fast canter as he glanced over his shoulder to make sure she was following him.

Listening to the sounds of their hooves along the path, Halloween barely caught what Fortinbras said. Shaking her head ever so slightly, she smirked, golden eyes watching his black body. Whatever you say, mister, she mumbled, and watched as he took off before her. Letting out a gentle whinny, she sped up her own gait, following after the stallion at slower speed than him, but still able to keep up. Tail swished behind her copper body, and ears tilted toward the songs the birds sang around them. It was a beautiful melody, one she hadn't heard the birds around here sing before. Quivering her nostrils, Halloween managed to reach Fortinbras' hindquarters, and gave them a quick nip.
Where you taking us, hun? Since the weather was warming up now, sweat beaded along the mare's neck, and she snorted ever so gently. She wasn't used to traveling for long, since the beach was just a short distance from the cave. Flicking her ears back ever so slightly, she slowed down to a trot, breathing deeply so that she wouldn't overheat herself. Eyes went to Fortinbras, curious as to where he was taking her.

The stallion's ears twisted as he heard the tempo of Halloween's hoof beats increase. A devious smirk danced on his lips as he veered to the left, changing their course a bit, hoping throw Halloween a bit off. He knew full well where he was going, for he had been all over these parts in his years. Soon enough, he felt her nip his hindquarters. He let out a fake angered whinny and swished his tail at her, looking back with a mischievous look in his eyes.
"Oh you'll just have to wait and see Halloween." he answered with a wink. He slowed his gait when he realised that Halloween had slowed to a trot. She was probably tired. She looked as if she had run a marathon by all her huffing and puffing, as well as the build up of sweat on her copper coat. Fortinbras half halted to check his speed as he waited until Halloween was right behind him again. "Aw, c'mon, getting tired on me already?" he teased.
The ebony stallion took a sharp turn to the left as a rocky path opened up before them. "Up here." he said as the path started to incline. Fortinbras lowered his head a bit so he could grab with his forelegs as he pushed with his hindquarters. It only took several minutes to reach a flat area surrounded by rocks. He slowly followed the path around as it opened to a ledge that was amid some of the cliffs that towered over the teal ocean. "Well?" he asked rather loudly so she could here him over the crash of the waves, whisper of the wind, and call of the seabirds.

I'm not as young as I once was, darling, she threw at him, but followed after him nonetheless. Fortinbras snorted and rolled his eyes at Halloween's words."Your body might not be, but you can still be young at heart!" he said with a smile. The stallion may be older in age as well, but Fortinbras always tries to be young at heart and live his life that way. Since he started doing that he realised he had so much more energy, and fun, while doing things. There were times he really missed ebing young, but not the things he did back then. He liked, no, loved ht epresent and the mare he was with. One mare. One mare now and only one mare every again. He was finished with his old ways.
A smile crept up on his maw as the chestnut exclaimed how beautiful this place was. "I knew you'd like it." he said in an almost smug manner. What he hated to think was that he had brough many mares here before Halloween. That was years ago, he should not be stuck on the past, only the future. It was not a time to think about his old relationships, no matter how short or long they were.
"Sei il benvenuto." Fortinbras said. Sometimes he would slip into his Italian without even realising it. At least he hoped by now Halloween knew simple things like you're welcome, what he had just said to her. He had ever only learned to speak English when he realised most of the island now spoke it thanks to the influence of horses who had come from distant lands.
The ebony stag turned his head to touch his muzzle to Halloween's as she said she loved him. "And I love you too Halloween. Don't ever forget that." Yes, life was good.

This peacefulness, it was something Halloween wasn't exactly used to. Smiling to herself as Fortinbras spoke in Italian, she breathed out slowly through her nose. As the stallion told her that he loved her as well, her heart swelled, and she let out a soft nicker.
Fortinbras, what shall we do? Verridith is gone, we can assume she has joined a herd or something, and we have no herd of our own to go to. Are we going to live our lives as wanderers forever? The Arabian's eyes turned to look upon the stallion, ears twitching ever so slightly. It was a valid question, after all. What were the couple going to do with their lives? Were they going to wander, just the two of them, until they died of old age?
Halloween did know she was ready to settle down. She was getting to be an older mare, and she couldn't just wander the island forever. Maybe her and Fortinbras could start their own little harem, where they would lead, rule over a small band of horses. Or they could live in their cave for forever, raising little ones and the like. A gentle smile crossed the mare's muzzle at the thought of another foal running by her side. One that was a mix of hers and Fortinbras' genes.[/blockquote] two hundred twenty seven . halloween . babbbiiieessss ~ . speech: dark orange, other text: 6C8E6C . (c) lizzeh 2011 . Fortinbras was pulled out of his thoughts when Halloween started to ask him about what they were going to do with themselves now that Verridith was grown and gone. Verridith. Fortinbras missed that little filly terribly. She was like the daughter he never had. He always had so much fun with her and now she was gone. That day she disappeared was a horrible thing for her mother and for fortinbras. But she was a gorwn filly, now a young mare, she couldn't stay with them forever. Verridith had her own life to live and Fortinbras respected that.
What about their own lives? Halloween almost seemed like she was hinting that she wanted to go find herd lands to live in, just for the secruity. The stallion couldn't blame her, for they were not as young as they used to be. Fortinbras on the other hand was used to be alone. He had never even once thought about joining a herd. The life of a loner had suited him just fine until recently. He would be perfectly happy living in the wilderness, but he could tell Halloween wanted more than that. "Well," he began "if you'd like we could try and fine a herd who would take us in. I know of a few who I would join if I needed to do so. But what ever you want Halloween, for I am happy where ever I am, especially if you're there." he said, adding a wink after his last four words.

Chuckling faintly at the stallion, Halloween reached up and nipped at his cheek lovingly.
I think we're just fine on our own, hon. You and I can take on anything that wanders across us, nodding at her words slightly, and smiling. She had faith in herself and her companion, and she knew that Fortinbras wouldn't allow anything to harm her, giving his life so that she could survive. Flicking her ears, Halloween turned her attention away from the stallion, to the ocean, smiling ever so faintly still. She did miss Verridith, but she knew that it was time to move on. Flaring her nostrils, the mare turned away from the ocean, heading back toward the incline, her ears flicked forward ever so slightly.
For some reason, the mare didn't want to be near the ocean anymore. Something inside her was telling her to move away from the beaches, away from their cave, to some place else. Flicking her ears, she turned her head to look at Fortinbras, wondering if he was going to follow her down.[/blockquote] one hundred seventy five . halloween . murrrrrhhhh . speech: dark orange, other text: 6C8E6C . Fortinbras smiled at her response. He was glad she felt the same way. he was not ready, and probably would never be ready, for herd life. It just did not appeal to him. Why would he want to live in a safe land with a band of horses who only gossiped? They had never lived like he did, seen all the things he had. They were missing out on so much. Halloween must have realised that before answering him. "I'm glad to hear that because I was honestly worried about trying to find a herd." he said with a relieved laugh.
The ebony stallion tilted his head with curiosity as the mare began to wander away. Where was she going? If there was one thing that Fortinbras was certain of was that Halloween always surprised him in some way every single day. He quickly jogged up to her and asked "Where are we headed to now?"

When he asked where the pair were going, Halloween shrugged.
I don't have a clue, my darling. I was just going to start wandering away from the sea. Something about it is making me sad, the mare turned her head, and started the climb down from the little plateau. The trekk down was a bit more dangerous, and Halloween almost fell face first down the rocky path, but managed to keep herself steady. As she reached the bottom, she let out a deep snort, and turned to see if Fortinbras had followed. The copper colored mare didn't know where the two were going to go, but being beside the sea was starting to depress her.
Perhaps it was because she missed her daughter. Flicking her ears back slightly, the mare snorted again, trying not to get all sad becasue of her daughter leaving. It was bound to happen sooner or later, and she would just have to deal with it in the end. Turning away from the slope, Halloween began to wander into the trees, her ears flicking as she walked. She knew Fortinbras could find her if she walked slow enough. Tail swayed gently, her eyes glancing around at the trees, a small frown playing upon her muzzle. Boy, she felt terrible.[/blockquote] two hundred twelve . halloween . blech . speech: dark orange, other text: 6C8E6C . (c) lizzeh 2011 . [/blockquote]

Fortinbras offered Halloween an understanding smile at her words. Wandering. It was what he had done best his whole life. Perhaps he was starting to rub off on Halloween. He had noticed recently that she had adapted more to the life of a wandering horse than she had before. Sure their cave by the sea was nice, but it always made Fortinbras antsy. He always wanted to go, walk, run, explore new things. He liked being able just to take off an not return to a certain place to sleep or hide from the rain. If he was tired he would sleep where he was. If it rained, then he better find shelter or he was out of luck.
Sadness from the sea. That seemed to be a common feeling that the blue waters created. Clouds were rolling in and the rays of light stopped dancing on the water's surface, giving it an almost gloomy feeling. He could see why Halloween was bothered now. He wasn't going to worry about it too much about it. She was a big girl and could fix it in her head. Everyone had bad days. Nevertheless, Fortinbras jogged up to her between the trees and touched his muzzle to her own. "Hey," he said. "whatsa matter?" He figured that talking to her might cheer her up a bit. If there was one thing the black stallion hated, it was to see his mate unhappy.

Nostrils quivered, and all Halloween wanted to do to Fortinbras' question was shrug. Instead, she answered the black stallion, because she didn't want him to worry, at least, too much.
Fortinbras, I miss my daughter. Having her beside me, it made me feel so young, made me feel alive. With her gone, it gives me time to reflect on the past, on what I've done wrong, all the sins. I just... I can't take this anymore, the mare had kept walking while she talked, passing through the trees, the faint sunlight shimmering down upon her copper colored coat. Ears flicked back, as the birds sang around the couple, and she wanted them to just shut up. Right now, it didn't sound beautiful, it sounded annoying. Missing her daughter wasn't something she should've been happy about, they should be singing a sadder tune.
Eyes stared straight ahead, and she wanted to just run off a cliff, fall down into whatever abyss was underneath, and die. But, she knew she couldn't. Fortinbras was there for her, and she knew he could help her through whatever bad time the Arabian was going through. Flicking her tail slowly behind her body, the copper mare let a small smile cross her maw, and she stopped walking, turning to look at her companion. She would be happy, just for the stallion, so that he wouldn't kill himself with worry. Mask or not, she would try to be happy, just for him.[/blockquote] two hundred forty four . you're not alone, saosin . halloween . o: . speech: dark orange, other text: 6C8E6C . (c) lizzeh 2011 . "Truth is Halloween, I miss her too. I know she wasn't my daughter, but the time I spent with the both of you made it seem like she was. There are times every few days where I think about her and wonder where she is and what she is doing. She's a smart girl, I know she'll take care of herself. You raised her well Halloween. I'm sure she's fine. Plus, she would look a bit silly still living with us. Any young mare her age would want to be away from her mother and experience life." Fortinbras offered to her, trying to reassure the chestnut in any way possible. "At least you got me." he said with a small smile.
The stag trotted past Halloween and said "C'mon. I know a nice little river near here with some nice grass by the banks." He would do anyhting to try to make the fae happy. He knew this would not be an easy thing to let go, but she would heal over time and come to realize that even thought her daughter was grown and gone, Halloween still had a reason to live.

As Fortinbras spoke, the mare nodded slightly, a gentle smile crossing her muzzle. Once the black stallion moved past her, Halloween instinctively followed, her tail swishing behind her copper body.
Well, you know. If you considered her your daughter, why don't you have your own child? You aren't getting any younger, we both know this, the mare felt a bit uncomfortable bringing up the subject, that she might possibly be considering another child, and even consider one with the black stallion near her. Flicking her ears slightly, she sped up slightly so she was beside him, so she could see his face and his reaction. Her mind reached out to her lost memories, her thoughts stumbling upon the past. Nostrils quivered slightly, and the mare continued walking alongside the stallion, even if her mind was preoccupied.
Somewhere inside her, the deep feeling of guilt and jealousy swirled, twirling and creeping it's way back toward her heart, threatening to overtake her and cause her to become who she once was. Shaking her head, the mare tried to make the feelings go away, to make them hide back in that little black box with the chains and lock. Ears danced atop her head, and Halloween could feel the painful wounds of her past appearing upon her heart once more. She hated when these sudden attacks of her past crept upon her, and she wished they would just go away.
But the scars would always be there. Of Carzeth, and what happened during their reign, when Oscurita came and went. It had been painful, being such a dark hearted creature, and she didn't know how she had finally seen the light. Perhaps it was her daughter's birth that had changed her for the better. One more shake of her head, and Halloween's thoughts cleared, and she focused onto Fortinbras once more. A gentle smile crossed her maw, and she took a few trotting steps before him, her tail flicking teasingly in his face.[/blockquote] three hundred twenty eight . rolling in the deep, adele . halloween . o: . speech: dark orange, other text: 6C8E6C .
