Rose nodded when she heard Lassen from behind, not too far off. She looked at the ice. It was on of the lighter spots, or maybe it was just her. She checked others, one after another, kicking several times. But the ice never seem to give any lee(Sp, not a good spelling day for me) way. She snorted, really annoyed. 'What's with today?' she thought, her head hurting, trying to figure out why the ice seemed so thin, but was thicker than expected. Resorting to her second options she hated doing, but as a means to survive on her own, the mare, picking out on the whitest, untouched, snow in her mouth, holding the freezing cold ball in her mouth until it melted. She felt her mouth saying the cold hurt, but her inner self well able to ignore it, she let the liquid slid down her throat, trying to not look annoyed.

The painted stallion listened to the steady stream of the conversting stag, ears tilted back to farther catch the quick audios moving into the chill of air. Yet, it goes without saying that Hollow could easily read the undeniable expression of annoyance that slipped upon Ice Rose's dainty features. Blue oculars moved immediately back to the dark pelted stag with what would seem an apologenic smile, as his mind absorbed the last snitch of sentence that had exited the leader's maw.
'Forgive me, Lassan, but I must excuse myself for a brief moment...' Eyes sparked with torn duty as he forced himself to leave the company of the stallion. Would Lassan forgive his leave? Scared of My Shadow swallowed the question as his movements advanced upon the small frame of the mare.
Moving to her side with almost shy temperament, the massive stallion watched his shadow stretch taunt to dwarf her own. Muscles quivering slightly under thinning cremello pelt, he did not need to ready himself for the simple task. 'If I may assist...' Easily, Hollow chose the spot with orbs that she had left print upon, extending long stilt as weight shifted. The ice splintered, cracking, leaving sound as it broke to river as to reveal waters below. Snorting quietly to himself, the paint nodded before heading over to Lassan once more. His mind wandered.

Rose watched the mare with steady eyes. Her mind frayed for a moment. Long enough to recollect her self. She was surprised by his shy approach when before he was so bold, speaking what he wanted, after her wanted. The mare tried to keep herself from smiling thoughtfully. As he went by her, she spoke out, in her very quiet manner. A simple "Thank you." barely breathed into the air. Like and angel speaking, trying not to disturb the world at all, not barely even the puff of vapors came from her mouth, seemingly like it wasn't there. She stepped over to the cracked ice, pushing a couple chunks of the ice out of the way to reach the water. She drank thoughtfully, quietly. The stallion called Hollow was nice, even though his usual boldness she saw when they first meant wasn't there, he was still nice towards her. The mare finished soon, feeling relieved she didn't have to eat more snow. She looked the way Hollow went, wanting to ensure he knew she was thankful.

Lassan watched Rose curiously as she continued to hunt a bout the ice. It caused him to frown a little when she did not find a spot. It really couldn't be that frozen over could it? Maybe she wasn't looking or trying hard enough. Lassan hoped that that was the case, seeing as he would have to hunt out more water sources for the herd.
The ebony Arab turned his head to Hollow when he excused himself and wandered over to help Rose with puncturing the ice. Lassan watched the two interact with a knowing eye. He had a mind to turn and leave them alone just now. It would do them some good. When he was just about to do so, Hollow came back to him.
Lassan pursed his lips for a minute before saying "Why not take Rose with you and explore the rest of the land? I should go find my mate and children to introduce them to you." Lassan said.

Scared of My Shadow could not help but flinch slightly as Lassan seemed to shrug him off, attempting in obvious terms to excuse himself from the cremello's presence as the mare was mentioned once more. Taking a measured step back, the larger gave a curt nod as well as fitting bow to his superior before allowed form to raise once more. Turning small dished head to gaze upon the mare, he captured her eyes with the pair of blue oculars. Ears rotated swiftly to prick with interest upon this, as if she was farther voicing her thanks that her words had already cemented. Nostrils flaring, Hollow took a step forward in the direction.
Moving with lengthening strides, the snow lapped casually at his short hocks with the rowing of stilts. Long tail swished absently as he drew himself once more to her, this time stopping in front. Offering a smile sort of smile, muscled neck rose in a swan-arch to offer the next snip of sentences, 'Would you be as so kind to accompany me about the rest of the lands?' Skin seemed to quiver at the smooth tone of his voice, mind abandoning most of wit. Dipping his muzzle to the concave of chest, his gaze did not falter as he waited for the make or break.

Rose watched the stallion, hearing his words. Again, she could see he was nervous, like a young child meeting an unknown adult that their parents' introduced to them. Her ice grey eyes could see he was trying to hide all signs of his nervousness. But she still could sense it. For once in her life, she felt she could trust someone of her kind. The mare stayed silent for a few moments, like she was thinking deeply about it, letting the ideas sink in. The light voice of Rose barely broke out again, never letting more than she needed to say. "Sure." It was simple as that. Small, little words. But she knew they could be understood as a deeper meaning. Like the simplicity masked the underlining full mean, but it was hiding just beneath the surface. There, but hiding. The tri rose colored mare's ears pricked forward. She had the sense there was no one was watching them, which made her feel less subconscious about her spoken works..

The cremello painted stallion offered a minimal exhale that soon danced with idle steam upon the frozen air touching about his form. Blue oculars dare not hazard yet another tedious glance affixed to the fea. With mind under harness with checked emotion, one toned stilt racked the expanse of harden earth before another stepped forth in turn to follow. His motions were contained well, the nervous energy taking flight internally rather than to show upon features. Despite the movement healing some of his anxious tendencies, the thought of her pricked petal-like ears remained glued to his center screen with almost an aura of permanency. The wild strands of mixed mane dared to dance upon the breeze, whipcord also joining in arch characteristic to one of the stag's many breeds. Finally, the sparkling orbs caught the mare.
'I offer my thanks, Ice Rose,' Ears pricked forth with the smooth audios, 'I believed myself to be cursed with an inability to offer any sort of company, no matter if the side is with toleration or contempt. In truth, would hate to be walking the land without any companionship...' Hollow wished himself to be stricken as soon as the sentences flew with graceful abandon off his light lips, knowing the fea was not one for fits of conversation, especially that of such idle nature.
With the marking of his own arrant stupidity with error-ridden words, his light oculars captured the hue of sky, tracing the outlines of the heavens. This was a day short of snowfall, though filled with the chill of fragments. The sound of echoing footfalls echoed with meaningless intentions as they fell upon brain. There was nothing left to offer himself as than a heart-shaped box, broken beyond repair with the intentions of his own self. Yet, the charismatic Hollow was yet to be so crest-fallen to completely remove his self from the pleasant company and own good mood as well as intentions.

They little mare heard his were, but was actually not hurt by them. "Believe it or not, Hollow, I am quite the same." As she accepted what he had said. "Most horse don't usually even get the option to hear my voice, because I prefer my own self silence. And I also prefer my self company, so don't need to worry." She said, her words slightly louder. They seemed to hold no emotion, of the young, quiet voiced words of the mare, or if there was, it was hidden deeply inbetted in the word it's self. She slowly stepped next to him, but leaving her own personal space between them. The mare looked over at the stallion, looking at his odd coat coloring. She seemed to see past that, like she was looking for something more, but she looked away quiet to his face.

The patchwork stag was increasingly aware of Ice Rose's gaze sweeping in low to almost consider the pelting harbored without consent. The skin twitched slightly as if in accusation, though it was no brought out with thought, for the stallion himself was enthralled with almost rapturous proportions to the digestion of the seemingly genteel mare's words. The collection that she gave was astounding, and Hollow would most certainly measure the silence with depth before choosing to speak again. The labor of conversation was still tellingly tangible. When her grayed gaze then fell upon the rest of his features, the cremello was in wonder of what she really saw. Past? Present? Future? Or more...
It was more than its fair share of truth that he was bold in almost all of his ways, wordless or not. But this situation left him with surprised breathlessness, as well as a thoughtful consideration to himself. When he turned his icy blue gaze to the heavens once more, they shimmered with the heat of inner flame when a smile captivated his features. The background faded to white in almost dissolved fashion as snowflakes reigned in the skies. As they made the fateful descent to the fevered terrain below, Scared of My Shadow turned himself to Ice Rose with a laugh prepared in throat. As it exhaled upon the breeze, his eyes sparked once more in the heat of self-created steam.
Youth was mirrored as the light surroundings gave grace to his pelt as the tempo of falling snow increased slightly. 'For past experiences sake, I have led myself to believe that you, as well as I, should find some promise of shelter,' Each fiber of his body was alerted with tremors of adrenaline as his head tossed when gaits skipped a beat. Another laugh drew itself as he settled back with another glance. She must think him a delinquent, childishness at its best. Yet Hollow just felt alive for a moment in the eye of inner turmoil.

"But why shelter now? I think the weather is fine." the mare said, her gaze forward. There was hint of emotion in her word this time, but barely there. She was looking straight ahead, as she kept an easy pace for her self, moving with ease. But with her gait, she didn't seem to share the Arab held high head and tail, rather a Quarter Horse lowered head and neck, and carried tail. But earlier, when she thought she was alone, the mare held those characteristics, like when around another horse she had no self pride. A slight tremor ran down her body in disagreement to her words, and she was mentally annoyed by it, easily masking it. She was surprised by what he said. Most horses who'd stand before her was either aggressive or was too afraid to offer even a hi or bow. She watched him from her corner of her eyes, waiting for a response.

Scared of My Shadow swallowed easily the annoyance that had been recently plaguing the brute as yet another brimming beam of smile directed itself at the pink-clad mare before the sense struck for stifling it. The company was certainly boosting the promise of better mood, though he himself would never consider it in reasonable fashion for just Ice Rose's presence. Light sky orbs swept in unwavering ease across the pelting to capture the dainty head. Her air was strange, a foreign aura that farther convinced the stag that secrets were something she was nor shy nor short of. Despite this nature that was oddly drawing, he gathered the force to move his gaze as ears swiveled to decipher audios.
'As a mere trifling matter, I have reason to expect farther snow fall in a manner of moments.' Hollow scanned the heavens once more before continuing with soft-spoken purpose, 'With your thin pelting, I would never be able to forgive myself if you should catch cold, and I had simply allowed silence without voicing this concern,' His eyes bestowed themselves upon her features with interest before they were torn away to look elsewhere. Sometimes attention was a dangerous thing to offer an acquaintance.
Shorting through the expanse of memories he had collected upon arriving to the islands, the paint could not quite gather any conversation that had let to fruitless grounds. As he had stated, he was quite the social pariah, most likely mirroring the days he had served behind barred doors under lock and key. His lids closed with the thought as he suppressed a shiver. Damp, alone, and darkness...that is what has fostered his bad temperament and outlandish behavior. Trying to douse these unwanted objectives, his orbs opened once more to the present with hopes of killing the dreaming past.

The mare simply shook her head. "I've lived here my whole life, much spent alone without shelter from anything. A slight snowfall won't kill me. And yet, I find it odd that you, of all horses I meant, are bold enough to ask me to shelter with you. A bit odd to me, since.... Well, since I was bit of a reject to other horses." She hesitated for a moment there, keeping herself from reveling her whole post in few words. "Of course, I should say normal, since really, I'm a bit of an oddity myself." In a tempt to mask her hiding on her past. She kept on walking like she had nothing to hide. "But I guess I could take the offer, just for odd sake." She said simply now, her complex mind reeling a little bit.

The cremello stallion inclined the delicate arch of neck a few degrees as so the tips of petals could better decipher the sentences that splayed forth from the mare's maw. Offering nothing more than hope for companionable silence, the stag listened fully without interruption nor abandon. Without hope of masking the sudden surprise that captivated his pelting, blue eyes widened with noticeable affect as her words sunk into the cracks of mind, feverishly churning thoughts. Once more a crack of his own past seeped with explosive tendencies as he cut it to backtrack to her with purpose. The more he forced himself backward, it replied with force forth, trapping him as unconsciously he stopped moving, frame tensing completely as mind flooded, eyes crystallizing with fog. Yes, rejection cut deep, deeper than bits or spurs, ropes or knifes. Yes, Hollow knew before he had ran out of options.
The sensation of choking caught him as mind fell away, as if the light was returning to his eyes to awake from dreams. Always, he wished for this all to fade as his forelock cloaked his pained eyes from the mare. This was the last thing she needed, he thought, my weakness to add to her list. He was aware of his pelt shaking, stilts alive with spasm while all was silence save the breath of himself and pounding heart against sore ribs. Hurt. So much hurt to offer. 'I...know how it feels...' The words were softly swept away on coaxing wind as he raised himself, moving forth as body screamed with flaming protest.
Every core of each muscle to bone ached with forgotten tension, neck lowering slightly as if in neglect to pedigree. Proud breeding resulted in little more than broken heart and crushed hopes. Was this the perfect horse they set out to create? One who was scared of his shadow, past, and heart. One that was the object of hatred and scorn? Or was this just a testament to the failures and follies of mankind? He pulled himself to the shelter of sparse trees, seeking refuge under branched upon request.

The mare stopped just as he stood, and she saw what seemed to signal all the same things she once had as a foal when she thought of her own past. She had a hint of worry in her, in her eye. But she never usually gave any emotion to a horse, except perhaps true fear and false pride. She couldn't see his eyes, but she guessed all the possible things they could of held. Fear, pain, betrayal, or a life's full of emotions equines never want to have or things they never want to feel again. But when he began to walk, she walked with him. She didn't care that he still fear something about himself, or was pained by something. She learned to fight much of her past, but she guessed she was still pained by it, still has her own fears since she kept it bottled up inside. When they got to the shelter of the trees, stood from underneath the trees. "You'll be able to fight it. What ever caused you to freeze up back there. It takes a awhile, and it's hard, but you'll be able to take it." She said, looking at him with eyes that were not the same. They didn't seem icy no more, cold with great stinging to it. They still held that worry moments ago, with honesty masking it hardly. "Now, unless you'd prefer me not to, I'm going to leave you alone, for now, just so you can get yourself pulled back together." She spoke, her words having no intention of pain, but with that same concern she had earlier. She started to turn and step away.
(Holy dear crapperton! This has to be the longs post I've ever made!)

The patchwork painted stag raised himself to a farther extent as tremors reached up to claim his form with each word she spoke. Hollow played the part of silence, the world around delicate frame crawling with abandon to his melancholy train of thoughts. The cremello listened with careful inspection to the words she offered as remedial suiting, insides wrenching with pain splintering in his chirning gut. It gave the sensation of leaping without hope of making it across, a last goodbye as she moved to leave. Scared of My Shadow's ears were filled with white noise, the humming around her reminding him more so of a dream than the fevered reality in which he lived.
'I would hate it if you left...' The tone was lowered in a mere murmur, '...it only reminds me of how alone I am...' The massive stallion wanted nothing more than to easily mask the pain to cover the wounds he himself was wrenching apart. No matter how unintentional the gesture had been before this shattering incident, the paint found himself wishing time rewound, undone, so he could take back the words that caused pain.
Hollow could sense the feeling behind her words, a surprising concern that threw him off guard upon the mere thought. Ice Rose had more likely than not suffered a greater deal than he, for thought he coat was unusual, it was not as awe-inspiring as hers. Raising his blue oculars, they moved to latch themselves to her retreating form in wonder. In all his days of speaking, the stag had never found himself without words that adequately summarized his feelings for another. That was until he met this mare. Without thought, he smiled as pain eased slightly. Blue orbs seemed shaded but still sparked with his flame.
