whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you So from where she stood, she could graze peacefully upon Lassan's lands. Dark bay ears flicked slightly, listening to the calls of the birds from the green trees surrounding her. Her darkened tail swayed slowly behind her, as sun shimmered down from the trees that sheltered her from the scorching sun that was seeming to torture the herds of Isola. Sighing in comfort, the State-born Quarter Horse took a few steps forward, her hooves leaving faint impressions in the semi-soft ground. Plucking a few more strands of grass from in the shade, she lifted her head up, dark brown eyes glancing around. She hadn't really been a social butterfly since she had joined Lassan's herd, having only really confided in the warrior, Malifex. Perhaps it was time to come out of her cocoon?
Shaking her head slightly, she then stepped out into the blazing sun, tilting her ears back. The bright light blinded her for a moment, and she had to blink so that she could actually see around her. Small wildflowers had bloomed, and this reminded the mare of home, back in Georgia where the flowers grew wild in the pastures. Smiling at the memory, she trotted forward, muscles moving fluently under her bay coat, the short hair having lost its ragged look since winter's grasp had disappeared from the lands. There wasn't really anything else that the bay Quarter Horse could do, so she stopped a few yards away from where she had been hiding from the sun, and lowered her head to nibble the grass near her front hooves.

Lassan had taken a morning gallop through his land, expecting only to see a couple of herd members and a few wild creatures. What he hadn't expected to see was Whiskey, the Quarter Horse mare with a loveable Southern US accent.
The ebony stag slowed when Whiskey's scent reached his flaring nares. He fell into a slow canter, his breath now steady. His chocolate orbs scanned the landscape for a visual sign of the bay vixen. His brow lifted slightly when he caught sight of a bay form in the distance. Whiskey. It had to be. Lassan smiled and picked up his pace, so he was now almost at a gallop.
He slowed to a brisk trot when he was several strides away from her. He finally halted near her grazing form. "G'mornin' Whiskey." he said lightly, bobbing his crown. "How r'you on this lovely day?" he asked, looking up to the blue sky, dotted with little cotton puffs.

Lassan. A small smile crossed her muzzle, and she let her tail sway behind her as she turned slightly to look at him. "Why, 'ello ther', Lass'n,'
the bay drawled out, her brown eyes shimmer faintly in the summer sunlight. As a fly landed on her body, her shoulder twitched, and she let air flow from her nostrils. Eyes glanced briefly to the blue skies above, then let them fall upon the lead once more. "Ah, I'd be jus' fine. 'n how'd you'd b'?"[/blockquote]

Lassan's smile grew as she interrupted her grazing to speak with him. He watched the fly land on her sleek bay coat and fly off as she twitched. "Oh, I'm alrigh'. Could be better." he said, rather sadly. Artava had just died a week agao, and he wasn't going to get over it that quick. "S'I haven't seen y'in 'while. Watcha been up ta?" he asked, trying to get off the subject of his wellbeing. He flicked his ebony banner at a few gnats that had chosen to rest on his hocks.

whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you Shaking her head slightly, the bay mare flicked her tail and faced her Lead squarely. Ears tilted forward ever so slightly, and nostrils quivered. "Well, mist'r. I've be'n wanderin' 'round lately. Nothin' really t' do here." Eyes turned to the blue skies once again, and she stomped a forehoof onto the ground in boredom to show Lassan her point. "If yeh have 'ny sorta thing we might b' able t' do, please do suggest it. I'm game fer 'nythin' right 'bout now." A small smile crossed her maw when she shook her forelock, the strands of hair falling over her eyes.

Lassan nodded slowly as she spoke. He figured that that is what she might have been doing, wandering around. Had she heard the news of the Beta mare Artava? He figured it would be better not to bring it up unless she asked or brought it up herself.
Lassan's auds flicked as her lyrics filled the air once again. "We-eee-llll" he said, drawing out the word, "We coul' always go fer a run. If y'want that is." he said, glancing around.

whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you Of course, Whiskey had known about the Beta's passing. They didn't have to talk about her, she knew Lassan would probably be hurting after it. Flicking her ears forward, she took a slight step toward the Lead, and then threw her head up in the air. "A run? Sounds good t' me. Jus' say when, 'n we'll b' off."
The bay Quarter Horse side-stepped, her tail flicking behind her. A run wasn't like barrel racing, but it was something to stretch her legs out. She turned in a small circle, stretching out her leg muscles, and then faced Lassan again, the smile still apparent on her muzzle.[/blockquote]

Lassan visibly brightened when she said thay she'd like to go for a run. He was always pleased when he found somebody who shared his love for running, or at least run with him to keep him company. It didn't really matter to him. He liked running with others. Although, once in a while, he did like to go running by himself.
Lassan glanced over to her as she sidestepped. Well, he was sure as hell ready. He snorted and broke into a fast trot. "C'mon!" he called brightly, looking over his shoulder back to her.

whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you Smirking as he trotted off, she broke off in a canter, quickly passing by him. She smirked and turned in a quick half circle so that she was facing him. Standing in place, Whiskey threw her head up, nickering faintly. "C'mon, Lass'n. I thought tha' yeh'd be fast'r than tha'."
The Quarter Horse taunted her Lead, flicking her tail slightly. Almost ... flirtaciously. Her eyes sparkled, as she turned, powerful hindquarters thrusting her into gear as she took off at a quick trot, tail swishing behind her slowly. It was as if she were teasing Lassan. And challenging him.[/blockquote]

Lassan's orbs widened a bit as she passed him up. Who knew she could be that fast? He wasn't expecting her to be, but as the saying goes, never judge a book by it's cover. "Nah, I was jus' slowin' up a bit so that you could keep up!" he said, obviously lying. She then took off trotting, swishing her banner back and forth. Lassan snorted and follwed after her at a canter. As he passed her, he nipped her flank and borke into an extended canter.

whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you Dun slow down jus' b'cause o' me, darlin'.
A wide smile crossed the mare's muzzle, as he nipped her, and she nickered as he cantered off. Her legs moved in overdrive, and they propelled her to his side, where she kept her pace steady and even with his. Ears flicked slightly, and she glanced sideways at Lassan, the smile still on her muzzle.
Y'know. I bet I could run circles 'round yeh. If I really want'd t'."
Shaking her head ever so slightly, she veered off to their left, moving around a tree, circling it like she had back in the States and she was barrel racing. She then ran after Lassan again, keeping himself behind him instead of going along side.

Lassan smirked as she spoke. "Well if I jus' passed y'up, that wouldn't be very gentleman like of me, now would it?" he replied to her statement. Lassan snorted and moved past her a bit, a grin plastered on his features.
He glanced to her, only to find her running very tight circles around a tree. He was a bit impressed. He stumbled over a log, but regained his blance. If he could blush, he would have done so. Lassan let out another whinny and chased after her as she veered off to the left. "Run as much as y'like lass, I'll still catch up wit' ya!" he called as he neared her once again.

whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you Letting out her own whinny, Whiskey threw her head into the air playfull. "Try as yeh might, Lass'n, but I'd hate t' say yer wrong!" Slapping her tail behind her, she veered off again, whirling around and racing past Lassan in the opposite direction. She moved gracefully over the ground, her legs moving her away from the lead. If he was so sure that he'd be able to catch her, she'd like to see. Her ears flicked back, and she swerved ever so slightly, only to veer off her planned course to avoid a tree.

Lassan snorted a curt laugh. "I'd say not!" he called, soon to realise that the Quarter Horse vixen had already wheeled around. Okay, he'd have to admit, he may be faster on a straight run, or in an edurence race, but she was indeed much fast through all these quick turns and over the rocky landscape. Lassan turned himself around a tree and picked up his pace. The one advantage he did have was that he knew the landscape like the back of his hand. Or would hoof be more appropriate?
Lassan turned to the left as he saw Whiskey swerve to stop herself from crashing into a tree. He took a small deer path that he knew would come out so he would be in front of the vixen. He gave a small buck and picked up his pace again so that he came out several metres in front of her. He looked back and whinnied. "C'mon!"

whiskey lullaby and when I lose myself I'll think of you together we'll be running somewhere new through the monsoon just me and you ---> Smiling as Lassan appeared before her, the bay mare followed after him, her tail flicking in the breeze that the run created. Her eyes watched the black stallion run, allowing herself to just follow after him for a while. Then, she sped up, to run along side him. Sweat glistened down her neck, and she threw her head up in a whinny, reaching over and nipping Lassan's shoulder playfully. "Aye, yeh are a fast runn'r. I must give yeh tha'. But runnin' 'round trees, I'd put yeh t' shame." Her voice was full of excitement, the thought of actually running around trees - much like barrels - thrilled her. She hadn't really barrel raced since back in the States, so she was itching to at least to a few tight turns. <---
