- i let you in and you infected me! === - It had been quite a while since they had begun their travels back to their homelands. at least a week, if ares' sense of time hadn't yet been screwed up by the constant boredom that pressed against the front of his mind every step of the way. the lands seem to blur together every moment of everyday hurt his orbs, dizzying him to the point of nausea. why couldn't they just be home already was beyond him, but it seemed like the world was just that hateful against him. his dear brother, lightsaber combat, wasn't much better in terms of homesickness either, but did a better job of keeping it in the back of his mind. there was still a lot ground to cover after all, and the possibility of running into other equines while on the way back was highly strong. even ares agreed that a level head on strong shoulders was needed in order to deal with strangers. especially if a walk through their terras would cut half a day off from their travel, and saber had done a good job of getting them passage through a couple territories in the last week itself. some of the lands had been... less than savory, and others had members that were quite pushy for different reasons, such as asking them to stay a little longer or trying to lead them to certain women in their herds. ares had been about to rip out someone's throat a few times, or at least tear them a new one, but thankfully for both the sakes of the ones involved and preventing a possible war, saber managed to get them out of there with polite declines and quick steps. ares would be the first to admit that without his brother he probably would've destroyed the good name of the dia.
footfalls landed side by side as the two young stallions moved through the terra together, golden and ivory robes glittering in the bright sunlight like jewels, gleaming and sparkling almost ethereally. one stood tall, searching out any abnormalities in the surrounding area, the other kept his dial low, trying to block out the overwhelming boredom that was once more creeping up. icy blue hues glanced towards his pristine brother then, a sigh escaping his nostrils as he whip his golden banner against his hinds. we've been walking for days, saber. ares' strong, rough vocals sang out, his audits flicking back to his crown in annoyance at the thought. shouldn't we be there by now? he asked, his gaze locking onto his brother's own golden brown orbs when the other prince moved his gaze to him. 'we would've been, but those herds kept us back a bit - we might be there in three more days i believe.' the smoother tones of the pristine ivory prince floated into his beloved brother's satellite, and was answered with an annoyed groan as the darker of the two thrashed his handsome dial in annoyance, practically seething at the image painted before him. three more days, three more days of walking these strange lands, three more days without seeing their homeland and sleeping under the sun in the soft grasses. three more days before he could hide himself in the forest and run through the open fields. yeah, he was homesick, alright, and he was sick of all the darkness that surrounded him and his brother too.
servo venia was never this dark. even the nights in servo venia were always aglow with something, from fireflies to reflecting moonlight; out here the nights were almost pitch black in ares opinion, sometimes no stars shone and the moon had nearly always been covered up the last few day. the day was no better, the sun being hidden behind an overcast sky and a cold wind blowing against his flesh. this was all the fault of those stupid arrats; while caring for their new sister, a sweet little filly father called angel, a pack of the night-walkers had appeared; father had hidden angel and led most of the arrats away, but a few remained and had to be taken care of by the two brothers. they'd fought for as long as possible, but the bastards had struck at night, and so they too had to run, and run hard. the arrats gave up eventually and left, but by that time both saber and ares were utterly lost - it was a miracle that they both had managed to stay together. and add in a few other problems that had popped up, such as the strange new anima and some other dark creatures and predators, what had taken less than two days to do was now taking more than a week to undo. to top that off, they were both worried about their little sister - did father go back and get her, or was she still waiting there for someone? his heart nearly stopped in his chest at that thought... angel was so tiny, would she be okay for that long... stupid arrats...
saber suddenly came to a stop, and immediately ares was thrown from his thoughts and set into alertness. 'there's a herd land not far from here, if that landmark is correct.' saber nickered, pawing at the ground as he spoke. 'ares, stay here while i scout it out. we need to know if they're friendly or if we'd have better luck going around... i won't be long.' and with that, saber was off, running into the distance and leaving ares behind. a snort escaped the champagne stag as he shook his dial in exasperation, although he knew his brother's thinking was sound. one horse would be less detectable than two, especially if the herd wasn't friendly to their kind, and saber would call out if he needed help. so with that, ares resigned himself to grazing, lowering his dial and awaiting either the return of his brother, or the call for help that would sound off. his audit flicked then, icy hues glancing around slowly. there was another presence near... The endless sea of white snow was something she knew she loathed the moment she touched it when she was a young filly. It was freezing and seeped away any warmth that her body salvaged, and hid away the grass that was her primary source of food. They were on an island, and yet it got so cold that it was like they were on a mainland. The winter was so bad this time of year, that she had to travel from her usual place of residence Terra Scure to Belle Valle. Belle Valle was a massive open valley for claiming, which she was the most least interested person in the world for that, but she knew the valley would have more grass hidden under the massive heaps of snow that she could survive off of. Her legs often went numb from all the digging, but if it resulted in dinner, then she should have not much room to complain.
It had only been a few months since she left her mother's side. Though, it wasn't much of a difference, since her mom didn't seem to care for her that much other than having the decency to teach her the basics of survival. She wasn't bitter towards her mother, though, however off her rocker that woman was. She had told her the circumstances of her conceiving, and she was horrified as it was described to her. Ashia's body was so ravaged that she had nearly died giving birth to her despite the months that she had from the occurrence for her body to be able to heal. She had witnessed her father's vicious fights with her mother, but it was clear that Spyder outmatched her. Roulette was so afraid that one day her father would turn on her, but he never laid a finger on her, for some reason. He didn't pay much attention to her otherwise though, besides randomly speaking to her jumbled and scary nonsense before moving on or attacking her mother. She was surprised that she didn't have something wrong with her mentally as well because of her parents, but she may be mental, and just didn't know it. Either way, others left her alone, and that was fine with her.
It had been beaten into her head ever since she was a little filly by her mother that stallions were vicious brutes that would do nothing but hurt her. They would either take her feelings and smash them into little pieces, or they would use her like she was an object to their most primal desires, and then abandon her as if she was just a plaything. At first she tried to dismiss those thoughts as just some biased views, but after observing her mother and father, and speaking to the chatty ravens that roamed the isles filled with gossip, she began to believe what her mother had nailed into her brain. That was what made her realize how against the idea of finding a mate she was. Call her a feminist, but she wanted nothing to do with the stallions that sometimes pegged for her attention. Luckily, they backed off once they realized how hostile she was towards them, because she knew she wouldn't be able to defend herself effectively if they pursued her. She had to deal with constant sickness and frailness of body; she could never gain very much weight, even in the spring time where food was everywhere. She was rail thin, borderline underweight, but she figured then she would have less weight to carry that would allow her to run faster if it was needed.
Roulette trudged through the knee deep snow with an annoyed snort, tossing her mane with contempt as she shook her hoof off after every step. She couldn't stand this weather, but spring was close at hand, thankfully. Her nostrils flared at the scent of another horse near by- that was odd, normally no horses sought more mouths to feed this time of year. She decided to investigate, trotting through the snow to head toward the source of the scent. She slowed down to a halt and snorted when she came upon the other horse a few yards away, realizing a little to late that the stranger was a male. She studied him for a moment, before tossing her head up and turning to stride right back the direction she came from. She wasn't going to socialize with a stallion.

- i breath you in and now i'm in too deep! === - The prince of servo venia raised his dial slightly off the ground from where he was grazing when the scent of a stranger wavered past his nostrils, his icy gaze moving over to where the shape of a bay dun maiden stood, her gaze fixed on him as his was to her. they stood watching each other for a moment at the distance, before she sudden threw back her dial and began to turn around, heading back in the direction she was coming from. ares merely blinked before lowering his dial back to the grass, nudging the snow out of his way to reach the younger shoots that were beginning to sprout. if the woman didn't want to socialize with him, he wasn't gonna stop her from walking away, especially when he could feel the distrust and hostility coming off of her in waves even from the distance they both had been. no, better to just let her go her own merry way and continue to wait for his brother's word. nudging yet another bit of snow out of the way, ares suddenly lifted up his muzzle and sneezed, having inhaled some of the flakes by accident. icy gaze narrowed in annoyance for the umpteenth time that day, a talon stomping upon the earth as his tassel whipped angrily. another reason he wanted to go home - there wouldn't be as much snow there as there was here and he could graze without having to watch out for inhaling the frozen water.
ares' annoyance was about to reach new levels in the next few moments sadly, because just as he was about to continue grazing, a neigh echoed over the land in warning, and he jerked his crown up in time to see his brother running back to him... with three different brutes following. a groan of utter disbelief overcame the champagne stallion before he lunged towards his brother and the three stranger, giving a fierce battle cry to answer his brother's call. the moment the two brothers met, the atmosphere became different; instead of running, saber turned around and followed ares to the fray, and the fight was on. three against two meant nothing when the were both there, talons flying and cries echoing as they fought back to back... however... what the hell happened, saber?! you were suppose to just scout it out! not get in a free for all tussle! ares snapped as he flung his talon into the optic of a blood bay stag that was trying to rip a chunk of his flesh out. 'i was! but when i realized it was a dark herd and started to leave i got spotted! apparently the don't like anyone within miles of their territory!' came saber's disembodied voice from somewhere behind ares, his gaze locked onto his opponent and unable to search for his brother's visage. oh, you think?! he asked sarcastically before turning around and throwing a kick out towards the blood bay as he reared, sending him flailing on his back and winning the tussle. the stallion got up to his talons quickly and beat a hasty retreat, followed closely by the gray one ares had noticed his brother engage with earlier... but wait! where was the third?!
a feeling of dread overcame ares as he caught the sensation of hostile intentions nearby, moving in the opposite direction the other two had gone. swinging his crown around, his gaze widened as he watched a buckskin form moving at alarming speed towards the maiden's direction, her form still in sight. damn it! ares cursed before blazing off, moving his pillars as fast as he could to try and intercept the beast before it reached her. he was barely fast enough, for as the stallion closed in on the strange mare, ares flung himself into the older stag, knocking him off his hooves and throwing both of them to the earth with a hard 'thud'. ares! saber's frantic vocals shouted out in horror as both the stag and the prince scrambled to their talons, ares placing himself in front of the damsel and himself in the line of fire should the brujo try anything again. touch her, and i'll slit your throat. he hissed through gritted ivories, his audits plastered to his crown and orbs narrowed. giving a warning snort, saber too appeared, standing tall and threatening, both brothers forming a wall between the two strangers. the older stag gave an snort, pawing at the ground aggressively, but then thought twice about attacking both young stags and instead turned around and left back for his homeland without a single strike; the relief was palpable between the two.
turning to his sibling, saber gave an scolding nicker. 'what were you thinking? you could've broken your legs with a stunt like that!' ares gave no heed to saber, instead turning his dial around to the strange mare in concern. you alright? he didn't touch you did he? he asked.

Despite her outward hostility towards the stallion that she had come across, she still had the lace of fear that inched up her spine at the prospective danger he posed to her. He didn't look interested in her at all, but who knew what went through his mind at that given moment? She avoided males at all costs, always thinking that she might end up like her mother, completely driven mad by the treatment she had been given by them. How could any stallion feel to exert his power over a mare? Mares were naturally weaker, and they sought stallions for protection, but instead many raped or beat them until they were just shells of themselves. It wasn't right, but what much could they do about it? She knew she couldn't stand as a leader against wrong treatment, considering if she were even hit once she knew she would crumble. Her body was too frail to even consider being attacked by anyone- she wouldn't survive.
She was relieved to hear that she wasn't being pursued, and she gradually relaxed as she moved away at a walk to preserve her dignity and show that she wasn't afraid. She kept her ears tilted in the stallion's direction, just in case though. She tensed as she heard the sound of several horses plowing through the snow, and turned her head to look with surprise as a young stallion emerged from the tree line with three older ones at his heels. She stood in place to watch the ensuing battle, quite impressed at how the two younger stallions fought off their elders who were probably way more experienced than they were. She was about to turn to move on when she noticed one of the stallions beginning to barrel towards her, and she seemed to freeze in place, her orange eyes widening in fear. Her ears flattened to her skull as she forced her body to move, but instead of fleeing, she lingered, prepared to ward him off. She may not be very strong, but she would deal some damage since he dared to try and attack her. She began to prance in place, preparing to strike, but instead someone intercepted her attacker.
She looked with surprise as she noticed that it was the stallion that she had put off just a moment before. Why was he even bothering to come to her rescue? She stepped back, her eyes wide and nostrils flaring from the adrenaline coursing through her, as both he and another male stood between her and the attacker. She shifted her hooves nervously and shivered with tension, but didn't relax once the immediate threat turned around and headed back from where he came. Her eyes settled on the two males that were probably not much older than she was, fear causing her to step back slightly. She snorted softly as he spoke to her, and after a moment's hesitation, answered. "No.. thank you, though." She grimaced, not particularly liking that she owed them.

- you caught my attention === - The moment of hesitation on the maiden's part, along with her fearful feelings crashing into him like tidal waves, concerned ares to no end. had he been too late? had she been injured by the attacking brute? the thought made ares' heart drop into his stomach; it was a dia's nature to defend and protect, to fight to the last breath for even those they didn't know. the very scent of blood could literally made a dia sick to their stomach. he didn't smell any blood on her, but that didn't mean that she couldn't have been clipped by a talon or bruised by ivories or a hard slam to the body. 'no... thank you though.' finally, her tones echoed through his audits, and the young prince of servo venia sighed in relief, relaxing visibly with a massive release of tension. now he could feel some of the bruises on his side from where he'd slammed against the older stallion, the sting evident but not enough to hinder his movement - the moment he stepped into some sunlight, he figured his minor injuries would be a thing of the past. by now, saber had also turned his attention to their present company, his light blue gaze blinking at her in concern. 'i'm truly glad to hear you are unharmed, m'lady, and i deeply apologize for the trouble - apparently there is a herd nearby here that doesn't tolerate anyone within spitting distance of their territory, and i got caught by their guards and led them straight to you.' he nickered, apology deep in his tone as he dipped his dial to the strange woman.
while his brother spoke, ares took the moment to assess the strange new mare, his icy blue gaze filtering over her rail thin form with no small amount of concern. while she seemed somewhat healthy, there was no way any horse should be that thin. he figured if he looked hard enough he might even see her spine through her skin. her colors were quite unique as well, a dun bay color with mixed banners of brown and silver and deep orange orbs - perhaps she had some elemental blood running through her veins? tilting his crown slightly, the young champagne stag drew his kissers into a frown, deciding on whether or not to comment on her physical condition or not... in the end, he chose not to... yet. yes, i'm glad to hear your unharmed as well; it frightened me when i saw that beast coming at you like that. i was terrified i wouldn't get here in time. he confessed before dipping his crown as well, this one more formal than his brother's apologetic one. both young stags raised their crowns again, and saber turned to his brother, nudging his shoulder gently. 'i'm gonna go search for another way around that herd - and no! i will not get caught again, they won't even know i'm there. however, i think you should stay here with her in case they decide to double back. if they do, call me and i'll come back as fast as i can. the sooner we're away from here the better. and with that, he took off again, racing away into the distance before his brother could even get a word in.
watching as saber's form disappeared over the distance, ares gave an exasperated sigh, shaking his crown in disbelief. saber wasn't normally like this, but then again, they normally weren't this far away from home or in this position: literally between a frail maiden, and a dark herd territory whose borders lay far too close for comfort from where they stood. turning his gaze back to the maiden, he again searched her figure, looking for any wounds that he might've missed. the fear he could feel still was making him uneasy. by now, a limp was evident in his right fore leg, nothing too serious besides soreness, but yet he kept his concern on the rail thin woman. are you sure you're alright miss? he asked again, this time referring to her fearful feelings as well as her physical condition. she seemed pretty shaken up...
ooc: bleh post, but i had to get saber out of there for a bit so they could talk. xD [/blockquote]

The young mare could feel their gazes on her like a pair of fingers on her skin, and she squirmed slightly under their scrutiny. She looked between the two stallions that had rescued her to an almost certain death. They probably figured they just saved her from a fierce beating or rape, but any form of harsh blow she knew would severely inhibit her, or strike her down immediately. She didn't like the thought of how uncomfortably close she had gotten to the hostile stallion, but she was relieved that the two had been there despite her fears of them. By first glance it was obvious that they were brothers, by the glistening perlino coats that they sported, which was a color she had never seen on another horse thus far. They didn't seem to want to harm her, but she could never be too careful. Who knew what their intentions were?
Her gaze rested on the stallion that she hadn't made contact with before as he spoke to her, and she merely nodded her head in response, finding herself a bit at loss of words on how to respond to that. What was there left to say? She had already thanked them, and she wasn't going to grovel at their feet with thanks. One of her ears angled toward his brother as she felt his eyes scrutinizing her form, tension coiling back up in her muscles as her orange eyes flicked back to him, her nostrils quivering as her body gave a shiver. She could feel the anxiety bubbling against her skin, and despite the chill, she felt like she was about to break out in a cold sweat. She tried to get her emotions in check, but her mother's preaching was nailed firmly into her brain, and she thought the worst of the pair that stood in front of her despite them saving her when she was in distress. She still remained silent as the first spoke, and she felt a bit more obligated to respond the second time around, but she was saved the effort by the second who spoke to his brother about scouting out again.
Her head turned to watch the perlino's retreating form with a careful eye before her gaze returned to the stallion that stood before her, even more wary that she was now alone with him once more. She tried again to soothe herself, reminding herself over and over that he would of allowed the brute to attack her if he had any true malicious intent toward her. She shifted her feet again as he spoke, hesitating as his eyes traveled over her form. "Yeah.. fine," she said, her voice just above a whisper. "I..should go..really. Um..thanks again," she said, looking at him for a moment longer before she scrambled away, a cold sweat breaking out on her skin.

- you caught my attention === - The more ares studied his current company, the more concerned he grew with each passing second. her rail thin figure seemed to seep with every fearful emotion under the sun, each one crashing into him so hard it was impossible to ignore even if he wanted to try. his dia nature made it impossible to just turn around and walk away, and the protectiveness he was beginning to feel creeping up his spine towards this stranger was only intensified by the condition she was in. she was too thin, too frail looking, like if the wind were to only blow on her she would crumble into dust right before him before he could even stop it. yet despite her appearance, she didn't in no way seem to be unhealthy... at least not that he could see or smell at this point in time. it made him wonder what that beast of a stag could've done if he had actually reached her before ares reached him. that creep had to have at least been a draft mix; the very thought of those talons striking against this slender woman nearly had his blood boiling. what the hell was that idiot thinking, charging a woman like that? it was barbaric, it was unorthodox, it was cruel, it was definitely uncalled for, and more than likely it would've injured her in a way that even he and his brother probably couldn't have healed in time. why even go after her in the first place?
the hesitation on the vix's part once again had ares growing ever more uneasy. she hadn't spoken a thing since his brother had addressed her, merely nodding, and standing as still as a statue with a wide eyed stare ares couldn't read, her demeanor growing more discomforted when he searched over her body for any form of pain or injury. the way she was acting, you'd think ares was the threat. 'yeah... fine.' she finally spoke up again, although her lyrics were just barely an octane above a whisper, and the perlino prince had to strain his satellites to catch them. 'i... should go... really. um... thanks again.' and with those added tones, she began to scramble away, her unease turning to fear right in front of ares' gaze so quickly he almost didn't know what hit him... icy hued optics blinked in surprise before he shook his dial slightly, looking back to the dark colored vixen a moment later, watching as she stumbled away in the direction that he and saber had come from: bad idea. miss? i wouldn't go that way. my brother and i came from that direction and there's a snowstorm raging over there. he explained, and he hoped she'd heed to his voice and the truth. a delicate flower like she was, she'd never survive such a raging storm as what was only a few miles off. the only reason he and saber had managed to get through it was that they pushed through it under a shield of light. but this lady was neither an elemental, nor a healthy flicka at all... she'd never make it, even he wasn't blind as to see that.
raising his bruised foreleg up a little, the perlino stag grunted softly in discomfort as he set his other three pillars into movement, closing the short distance between him and the stranger but still keeping a foot of distance between them for modesty's sake. i don't think you're as okay as you say you are either, miss. your fear is crashing over me so hard i can barely breathe. he confessed, shaking his dial as if to clear off the clinging foreign fear from himself. why are you so afraid? there's nothing here that's going to hurt you as long as i'm around, not many would be willing to face a dia head on. he added as an afterthought, although the truth of his lyrics was heavy. there weren't that many willing to face a dia; the elementals who were ready and willing to throw their lives away for others, to fight to the last breath - crazy, perhaps, but it was a great deterrent against certain equines who weren't that ready to risk their life and limbs.
ooc: another bleh post, but it's 4 am over here. xD [/blockquote]

Roulette could hear the stallion calling after her, and her ears turned back to catch what he said to her. In her hurry to get away, she hadn't realized where she was going, and as he pointed out, she could see the thick clouds accumulated in the distant skies. She slowed her frantic scamper to a stop, her nostrils flaring as she looked at the darker sky for a moment, unsure what to do now. She knew she wouldn't survive a blizzard; she barely fared through the snowstorms that isola was subjected to during this time of year. The peach fuzz that covered her normal coat didn't protect her very well from the chill. Whenever a storm hit, she had to keep moving, or she would probably fall victim to the cold and never awake again. Most of the time she found a cave system deep underground that usually kept a constant temperature throughout the year. Unfortunately, she had to go quite deep into the caverns to get to the warmest parts, and it was pitch black within it's depths. Not only was it difficult for her to leave if she wanted to, it could be lethal if she tripped and fell on top of the spiked formations that stood up everywhere. Dying over her own clumsiness didn't seem like a particularly dignified way to go.
Her head turned as she glimpsed his form moving towards her, and she turned her body so that she wasn't as vulnerable to him. Although he seemed to have hurting her the last on his list of things to do, she still was cautious of him- her mother told her that men can lie and trick her into thinking that they would never do anything to hurt her, but then surprise her with the most painful thing they could. She knew those were her mother's experiences, but still..what if such things happened to her? She didn't want to end up like her mother, bitter, hateful, and completely insane. Her mother had loved a stallion before with every fiber of her being, but yet he ran off with someone else. Of course, her mother could have treated the situation better; killing others was a bit extreme, but what if she had loved him so much that his betrayal broke something inside of her mind? And her father..well, he was inherently insane and she had no idea what made him that way. What if she turned out like them? That fear hovered over Roulette constantly, and she was always looking for triggers that may set that off.
Her ears turned back again as he spoke of being able to sense her wild fear that she tried to mostly conceal. Was he some sort of elemental? She knew that they had extraordinary powers, most of which she could not even grasp the concept of. When he spoke again, he confirmed her suspicions by blatantly stating that he was a Dia. His breed had the reputation of throwing themselves on the line for complete strangers, as well as picking up on emotions just to name a few, which was what he was apparently doing right now. She shifted her stance as she eyed him warily, before letting out a heavy sigh, smokey vapor trailing around her maw. "I... well, what I'm afraid of is..you." She looked at him unsurely, her head lowering in submission. "I haven't been exactly conditioned to be..comfortable around others, more or less stallions."

- you build on the tension === - In all his days on this little dust bowl of a land, despite what his peers may see him as, ares had never felt animosity towards much - friend or foe, physical or emotion, there wasn't anything he could pinpoint as something he felt absolute disgust or hatred at. but right now, right here, with this slender beauty staring back at him, practically radiating fear and horror and the hopelessness of being lost at what to do, he couldn't honestly say he felt no animosity. and it was all directed at the object that was causing these terrible feelings to well inside her. haunting her mind with images of what could be and what might come about. and the worst part was there was nothing he could do to stop that fear, push it back and hammer it down until it was nothing more than a mere speck in the back of both their minds. worse even was there was no escape either - trapped between a snowstorm and a festering homeland of barbarian drafts with only an injured dia as a shield. not the for first time, the young prince wished his father was here; jedi's name resounded over every territory, echoed in every audit and was seared into every mind. he'd know how to comfort the frightened damsel, and keep the brutes at bay... whilst ares just barely managed to keep her from racing headfirst into a snowstorm... pathetic.
but even the ache in his piston from his leap of faith couldn't compare to the stab he felt when the nature of her fright was finally revealed. patiently, calmly, he watched as she eyed him and released a heave of a sigh, submission written in her every twitch and posture as she finally relayed her terrors to his listening satellites. 'i... well, what i'm afraid of is... you. i haven't been exactly conditioned to be... comfortable around others, more or less stallions.' the moment the first lyrics fell from her tongue, he had to force himself not to take a step back in his shock, feeling as though he'd been struck. him. she was afraid of him. how had he not seen it before now? slowly, as not to stumble over his injured leg, he put a little more distance between the two. an obvious attempt to deliver a little more ease to her troubled mind. now that he knew the problem, he could begin to mend it... and the first step was distance. forgive me then, m'lady, for frightening you so. i'll step no closer. he nickered softly. it was never my intention to scare you. it was just his luck that the cause of this was the one thing that he couldn't yet remove. between these two killers, the snowstorm and the dark herd, he couldn't honestly let her walk off alone without a defense against either one. should the snowstorm draw this way, he could put up a shield against the bite of the wind and the freeze, and if they were set on again, he could - and would - send a jagged bolt of physical light into his opponent's cranium... but how to alleviate her current terrors, terrors created by him, without walking away?
a sudden burst of sunlight through the hazy skies then. the golden beams shot down over the dull land, hitting his creme pelt straight on. the burst of energy set him aglow, his pelt sparkling seemingly with its own soft light. a swirl of shimmers around his piston chased away the ache, allowing him to set it straight on the ground once more, and he took a deep breath of air into his lungs in his relief before turning his gaze back to the maiden. m'lady, i honestly mean no harm to you. although i've no idea how to prove that to you, at least allow me to try in someway. i cannot leave you be without some form of defense with that storm on the horizon, and these beasts at our backs. his vocals were borderline on pleading as he stepped further into the light rays, placing more distance between them and heightening his ethereal appearance. he needed her to trust him just for now. my title is ares nune. my sire is jedi's return, lord of the dia and ruler of servo venia. i swear to you i will not cause you harm, and will stay at whatever distance you require of me. he nickered, crown lowering in absolute submission, like a knight to their queen. hopefully, this was the correct first step in chasing away her fears... he couldn't take much more of that terror...
ooc: i'm happy with this, not that proud, but happy. <3 [/blockquote]

Though this stallion appeared completely sincere, she began to try and nit pick any potential weaknesses in the "honest man" armor he was bearing, hoping to find a reason for her to turn and scatter far away from the perlino male. Her anxiety made her flesh crawl as if she had ants as she fought with herself to stay still, her burnt orange gazed fixed on him. She felt almost- no, completely- pathetic in her ways of ducking and hiding from every soul she met. How could someone live their life that way? Somehow she managed, but there was always that twinge of longing that someday perhaps she would find some form of companionship to fill the void of drifting loneliness that she felt. But now, as she was faced with the potential of a friend, she froze up like a deer in headlights in an almost panic. But it was at least a good sign she wasn't tramping away from him like she had intended before.
Normally when her "run and avoid" tactics didn't work, she was considerably rude to the point that she probably made a few enemies. What she lacked in physical defense she made up in with venomous words, and when threatened she was a viper ready to coil. But she felt guilty if she considered the thought of scorning the young stallion away from her. His pleading eyes made her feel as if that maybe he genuinely wanted to reach out for her, and that he cared for her fate. He looked stricken as she admitted her fear of him, and she watched him as he gave a limping step back as he attempted to move from the leg he favored, injured from protecting her from a stallion that could have killed her in just one blow. Her ears cocked slightly as she observed him, a slight frown tugging at the corners of her mouth. "It isn't your fault," she responded, steam puffing from her nostrils as she let out a deep breath. "You didn't know."
Roulette blinked a few times against the sudden brightness that peaked through the gray overcasted clouds, a big shift from the dimness of before. The young stallion in front of her glorified in it's light the second it touched him, causing his body to be surrounded with a shimmer that seemed to heal his ailing leg to prime condition. She was a bit at awe with him, but tried to reign herself in a bit to prevent any form of leverage he could hold above her if he caught her too distracted. At the distance he was putting between them however, she would be able to see and prepare for attack if needed be. This young stallion was giving off the projection of a god borne on earth, and seemed rightly so as he spoke in a way that displayed his noble birth. Despite that, he seemed set on protecting her, though even from a distance if that needed be. "The storm won't be contained for long, and the island isn't as large as many think. It might very well pass over this way." She didn't have an idea how he would defend her from nature; after all, it was survival of the fittest. This Ares seemed to be genuine in his words, and she hoped that giving him faith wasn't a mistake. "I'm called Roulette," she told him, before hesitating, "Child born of Spyder and Ashia; I'm afraid not as a gifted birth as yours." The corners of her mouth curled despite herself; no one born of the infamous destructive pair could be considered lucky or gifted at all. She looked down at him as he bowed, a bit taken aback by the gesture, but hid it with a cool mask. "Tell me Ares, how long do you intend on guarding a stranger whom you know nothing about? "
