It hadn't been forgotten.
This place had been haunting his memories, a plague, a bad dream, and Hannibal didn't know why he couldn't make it just go away. His hooves made small plumes of dust from the wasteland ground to drift into the still air, the faint crackling of his fiery body the only sound he heard. A snort escaped the hell spawn, eyes looking at the barren lands that he had once called home so long ago. Back when the love of his life was still around, back when Bolin and Orpheus were children, not corrupted by whatever powers had taken over them. The sadness a father would usually feel toward these memories didn't come for the stallion. Instead, an anger that normally bubbled right under the surface emerged, flames erupting from his body and searing the nearby ground. Hooves had paused the burning body, ears pinned against his skull, the anger seething and twisting. He hated himself for being weak in the past, for showing any sort of emotion. For letting things get so far out of hand, that his own children and mate were dead. He could have used Tuula for something greater than he had, made her more of a slave than he did.
Grumbling under his breath, Hannibal continued on, toward the forest that still stood in the middle of Inferno lands. The faint trace of any horses came across his flared nostrils, and this caused a smirk to form across his burning maw. Taking over Inferno would be too easy right now, with no steward looking over it. Darkened hooves picked up their pace, moving through the growing trees that surrounded the shallow pool of water in the middle of the territory. That damned pond. It had been his own demise before, but now, he would change this whole land so that everyone would know who owned it, would fear crossing the border unless they had a death wish, or they wanted to bow down and give their life to the devil.
He stopped now, the water shimmering magically in the middle of the forest, hooves not touching the water. He loathed this place, with every fiber of his being. And because of this, he would corrupt it, change the water so no one could ever drink from it again. Tendrils of fire crept from his body, sinking down into the earth, searching out the hidden springs that fed the pool of water. The fire corrupted the pond, the water bubbling as it was heated, evaporating into the warming air. In place of water, fire was birthed, filling the empty crater left behind. As the fire filled out the pool, the trees around them burned away, charred husks remaining.
His work was done for now. Tendrils clutched back to their master, seeping back in with the fire that danced vividly across Hannibal's body. Studying his handiwork, Hannibal bathed in the glow from the fire pit. Soon. He would have his army ready and would take over Isola. Even if he had to be brought back to see his work finally completed. Turning away, he walked through the now dead forest, fiery prints left on the scarred ground as he walked. One could mistaken this place as a Zunden stronghold, the sudden temperature change, the dead foliage, and the fiery pit within the borders. Sure, he'd let them believe that. Until it was too late.

This place gave her the creeps. Vivian trailed a distance behind the large stallion, not quite sure if she wanted to be near him at this time. She had come and go during her time with him, becoming somewhat of a companion to the hellion for a few days before she would back off and give him his space. Hell, who would want to spend an excessive amount of time with a demon? He was rude and pushy without much consideration for anyone else at all, not to mention that he killed most things that he came across. Yeah, he was definitely into devil worship. But as far as she knew- for now at least- he wasn't turning his sacrificing towards her, because she was "bearable" intelligent company. Not the nicest compliment she ever received, but coming out of him, it was about as good as it would get.
Keeping silent as possible, her violet eyes wandered over the surrounding territory that they passed through. It was claimed, she was sure, but the owner didn't seem to be around for quite some time. It was of his intention she supposed to take it over, but the fury coming off of him were so strong and obvious that she felt like she should stay back if she valued her safety. The land was mostly barren, though trees were springing up everywhere in the shadows of the dead and dying ones. Food didn't appear to be plentiful here either- he wanted to live here? There were plenty of other homes that were in better shape than this, but if this is what he wanted, then it was his choice.
Once he seemed to engulf everything in flames, she skittered along through the ashy ground to try and dodge the sudden plumes of smoke that rose all around her in the trees. Pinning her ears on her skull, she decided to put her big girl pants on and move more closer to his side, her nostrils flaring as she fought of the smoke by keeping her head lowered towards the ground. "Was that really necessary?" she asked him, snorting softly as she stepped around a burning sapling. "How are you going to feed and water an army with no food or water? Unless I'm missing something," she said, shaking her black mane with slight contempt.

Oh, how naive you are, Vivian.
Hannibal tolerated the way she followed after him, they had intellectual conversations, anyways. The different questions she had for him didn't bother him, he would answer them just to amuse her. However, questioning how he'd feed and water his army.
You can not feed the dead like a mortal, my dear.
His response was curt and swift, his hooves stopping his blazing form to look at the mare beside him. Fiery eyes narrowed slightly at her, his jaws opening, as if he were going to speak again, but he snapped them shut, shaking his head at her. There wasn't anything else to say, so hooves continued to move him through the smoldering territory. Fire disappeared from the hellion's body, as he paused again in his movements. Breathing out, he turned to look at the mare once more. He stayed silent, just staring at her, however, the wheels in his mind began to turn. Eyes narrowed, as he wondered how exactly he was going to create his army. Did the devil give him the power to turn horses like the elemental horses upon Isola could?

Vivian swiveled her ears as he spoke to her, merely letting out a long breath through her nostrils. She was used to being spoken to this way, like he was some all knowing mysterious being. In all technicality he was, but it wasn't something she would give to him in admitting. She mostly just allowed him to do whatever he wanted- and it worked out well for her. Make friends, or at least close to friends, with a raging hellion, and you wouldn't get crushed if and when he decided to run around and start killing everyone. She would be safely aside while everything else crashed and burned. That was only if he decided not to kill her, but she hoped that if he was he would kill her last. It was a dark thought, but hey, she had to be prepared. She blinked at him in surprise as he spoke; an army of the dead? Well, with the Anima and Cielo running around the island now, she supposed she shouldn't be too surprised if there were zombie horses as well. She just hoped none of them decided to make her their lunch.
"So you're really going to bring a bunch of dead horses in here?" she said, though it wasn't really a question. She stepped a bit closer to him now that he wasn't up in flames and she wasn't in risk of catching on fire. She avoided the kindling foliage, the heat beginning to warm up her hooves to an uncomfortable temperature. "You'll probably have to complete with the Anima over those to turn, because they are quite keen on wiping out the island of every horse with a soul. Maybe you can still use those ones, but I'm not sure if the Reapers will take advantage of that and eat them first." She shrugged her shoulders slightly, glancing around the burning territory.

Nostrils flared slightly as he snorted at her words. Yes, he had heard of these Anima. They were nothing, though, and could be decimated before they became any sort of threat to his existence. Vivian obviously didn't understand his concept of the dead. The deceased to him weren't a bunch of half rotting corpses under his command. No, they were hell hounds, just like him, ultimately in the servitude of the devil with Hannibal as their commanding officer. Ears twitched, noticing how Vivian avoided the smoldering foliage that they passed. Pausing, Hannibal turned his full attention on the mare at his side, an ear swiveling toward her.
They wouldn't be any concern to me. These elementals won't know how to handle demons. Which comes to this question... Want to be the first?
Why ask her? Why not just change her without her consent? For now, he needed loyal followers. Later on, he would change them whether they wanted to or not, and would be forced to follow his orders.

Vivian's nostrils flared at the acrid scent of the foliage burning around them, the smoke curling and caressing against her skin, her lungs straining for each gasp of oxygen, though she tried not to show that it was getting harder for her to breathe. She wondered what about this place induced him to completely destroy whatever salvation it was beginning to grow. She knew he had to come back here for a reason; there were plenty of other lands he could have taken over during the time that it took for them to walk all of the way here. She just hoped that if it induced a rage, that she wouldn't be in the blunt of his blows.
Her ears pricked as he spoke to her, and she stared at him a moment, quite surprised at what he suggested. Her, become a hell demon like him? She shifted her weight, glancing around her before back to him. Did she want something like that? She had no idea what would happen to her if and when she died, other than the fact she knew she was going straight to hell. But during her time here, she would be practically invincible. Giving into a small cough, she nodded at him. "I guess.. I mean, sure..How does this work, though?"
