- felling every foe with my gaze
===
- It had to be said that today was quite the lovely one, despite the constant chill of winter that lingered in the atmosphere. the sun was no where near its highest point yet, the dull rays of the great sphere having yet to warm up completely, golden hued beamed caressing the hard unforgiving earth in phantom movements, leaving behind a longing for warmth that couldn't yet be quenched. all around, the first buds of spring were beginning to show, spiting the cold weather once again as they announced the soon coming spring, when the hot winds would blow and the days would grow longer than the nights; it was truly something to look forward to for every creature, from the smallest mouse to the largest brute that walked the isle. song birds sang their pretty songs above the canopies of the tree tops, diving down ever so often to snatch a bug on the fly or drink from a nearby sparkling stream, the soft sounds of the gentle water flow a comfort to the audits, merging together in a symphony of nature that could only be heard at this time of the year, between spring and winter. and fortunately, it was pretty much the only thing one could hear in this part of the isle as well, for once.
ginger pillars moved gracefully and slowly over the grassy terra at an easy gait, the crunch of the dead plant material beneath her talons providing a strangely soothing feeling with each step she took. it was fairly strange for one in her condition to be so comfortable in these particular lands, but she truly had nothing to fear, at least to her mind. somewhere in this vast landscape, her beloved brother stood watch over her every movement; the heat of his presence could be felt all around her, warming her from the inside out and placing up a barrier of protection around the untouched chestnut maiden. she would remain untouched as long as she wished too - nanook's flames were uncontrollable, and by now he was well known in some circles as being 'dangerous'. there honestly wasn't anything more dangerous than a zunden that couldn't control their powers, save for maybe a reaper or one of those anima that had been popping up, but the chances of running into one of those monsters were quite rare at this time. neither charisa nor nanook had seen or scented either one in the immediate area, and if they had nanook would've never let his sister go near the borders of the allevare mettono in the first place.
a soft sigh escaped the young era lady as she flicked her tassel against her hip, closing her lovely bi-colored optics sadly as she turned her dial towards the direction nanook's presence was strongest. although she couldn't see him, she knew he was there, and that was all that mattered... although she wished she could just spend some time with him instead, chatting with him like they used to do while they walked through this terrain side by side. but no, he would not come within spitting distance of her anymore, not since that day when they had been gifted with their powers. a small breeze trickled by charisa's face, the sting of the cold air brushing past the delicate skin of her kissers and leaving behind a clawing chill. immediately, instinctively, she commanded the breeze to warm, and warm it did, just right to her comfort. that was the difference between them; while nanook couldn't control his blazes, she could control her gusts with pinpoint precision, almost immediately able to do things from as simple as warming a small winter breeze to creating devastating tornadoes all at her command. when nanook realized this, he took his leave, wishing to protect his beloved little sister with all his heart and knowing that, despite her control over the wind, the newly fledged era would have no chance against a fire-user. her wind would only feed the uncontrollable flames, and the thought of her perishing made his heart stop in his chest. it hurt when he left her yes, but she could defend herself quite well, and even if they were away from each other, they were always linked. that was how nanook knew his sister was in her first estrus cycle today, and why he was here in the first place to begin with.
stopping next to a large, budding oak tree, charisa lowered her small frame to the earth, nestling herself in the grasses with a flick of her tassel around her hips. nanook's presence suddenly spiked, catching her attention, and a burst of flame flew up from over a hill in the distance. seemed like someone had angered her brother enough to get a face full of fire... she hoped he hadn't hurt whoever it was too badly. another sigh escaped the chestnut femmora as she laid her crown upon the earth, closing her green and hazel orbs away from the world. she had no doubts that whoever that was her brother had flared was coming after her scent, because she was pretty much the only woman in heat around for miles. sure, there were a few other early bloomers, but they were few and far between. her brother was truly overprotective sometimes, no matter how much she loved him. she just wished that he wasn't so overprotective sometimes... she really missed him...
