The palomino let out an exasperated sigh as he dragged his hooves across the dark ground in an over-dramatic fashion. He had long since fallen behind the larger stallion, his aqua orbs locked on the reaper's hocks as the young stallion lost himself in his own thoughts. He did not understand why they had to come here anyway. Claude never spoke much about his homeland, yet one day out of the blue, the ebony hellion stated that he would need to make a journey to the land of the dead as it was called across the island. Alois, not wanting to be left alone without the stallion he had become unhealthily attached to, had tagged along. He had no where else to go and was not one who liked to be by himself for very long. As far as he was concerned, he went where ever the reaper went. It was just a simple fact of his life. Ever since Claude had saved him a year ago from a rather abusive small band of horses, Alois had developed a strange obsession with the golden-eyed creature.
When their journey had begun, Alois was trotting ahead of Claude, his ears perked as his wide eyes took in everything around him, just excited to be going somewhere. That sense of awe and wonder had quickly died after the first hour and a half. Three hours later and they were still walking. Well, Claude was walking. Not really walking but marching ahead. Alois was the one dragging his feet like a tired foal even though he was far beyond that stage. He could not help but to exaggerate at times. It was just who he was. He had always been a little flamboyant and dramatics just came naturally to the fair-coated colt. They were part of the unique charm that made him who he was today. Claude never seemed bothered by them, so he continued to act as he did. Of course Claude really was not bothered by anything at much. In fact, the large stallion always had a stoic, cold expression plastered on his handsome face. Quite a waste of beauty if you asked Alois.
"How much longer Claude?" Alois asked, lazily jogging up until he was next to the stallion. His cerulean eyes were locked on impassive gold. "We've been walking for ages. This place can't be that far away from where we were. I mean, its a darker land. All of them seem to be pretty close." Alois mumbled, his gaze shifting to his own feet as he purposely kicked some dirt up in a pathetic attempt to entertain himself.
