Gone were the days when one would laze around under trees, believing that nothing bad could happen to you, or to the ones you loved. Gone were the days where you could stand alone on the beach, staring off into the distance, thinking that you had a perfect life. In a blink of an eye, the world could tumble down around you, an inferno shattering your perfect world, and the place you called home.
Fusion hadn't had a clue that the Zunden had invaded the Era territory, until he emerged onto the plateau from his little secluded beach, to find the Era lands ablaze. The palomino paint had found the charred remains of the Era lead, his father, Bolin, beside the lake, hoofprints scattered around his body. The single tree that overlooked the water smoldered, it's trunk scarred from the Zunden's attack. Why they would attack the peaceful herd, Fusion would never know. But now, here he was, roaming the beaches of Spiagga Del Nord, without a family and a home.
The bay and white paint snorted, his hooves sinking into the beautiful sands of the beach, as his mind wandered upon the grizzly scene he had the stumbled upon. His father's demise struck him hard, being extremely close to Bolin since his mother was pretty much a wanderer. It almost drove him to a state of paranoia, but the hope that at least another Era had managed to survive the Zunden's ruthless assault.
His tail slapped against his hide, as he paused at the sea's edge, the waves lapping gently against the sand. Blue eyes stung, more from the sharp breeze that suddenly whipped at his face than the sadness that stirred deep within him. Deterring the wind away with his own Era abilities, the sharp breeze that had hit him subsided, now playfully tugging at his forelock like his father would when he was younger. Nostrils flared, the familiar saltiness of the air stirring fond memories of the Era homelands. He'd miss them, but it was time to move on. Perhaps someone would wander across the abandoned Era, and try to welcome him into their home.
Or perhaps he was meant to be alone, much like the other stallions had proved that were descendants of Hannibal. Hannibal... that cursed stallion that plagued his bloodlines. The fury built with each thought, the wind surrounding him swirling the sand, little dirt devils appearing. If the hellion hadn't died to Bolin's attack, Fusion surely would've killed him. He had such nerve stepping upon Era soil with his grandmother at his side. Ears flattened against his skull, but the anger subsided, as a more gentle breeze danced around him.
Breathing out, he brought his gaze from the waves upon the shoreline, to the horizon, where the sun was slowly setting, casting the heavens above in a blaze of color.

Destroyed. That's how she found her home - or what was left of it. Her wanderings had kept her away from the Era lands - she wasn't just going to stay there if no one spoke to her. She always felt like she didn't belong there, and though she checked in occasionally, she mostly went off to see what she could see. On one of those occasions, she found everything burned down to the ground. The land itself meant nothing to her, but the fallen body of Bolin was really sad. She didn't know the stallion, but he seemed kind. It was sad for his life to end that way. So again she moved on, this time with no place to return to. As far as she knew, everyone was dead. She didn't want to venture farther to see if she could find more mangled bodies. It wouldn't be good for her stomach at all.
Interesting enough, she could smell an Era somewhere nearby. Maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her, or the breeze that blew around her at all times was just mixing around her own scent into the air. But no, sure enough, it was plainly Era, and not her own. It had too much of a masculine air to it, and it felt familiar.. a distant figure on the beach drew her attention, and she squinted to see if she could make out the figure. As she drew closer, she realized who it was by the markings. Fusion. She thought he had died alongside his father, but she must of been wrong. For all she knew, she thought she was the only Era left. At least she wasn't alone. Even if she did talk to him, there was no promises he would want her to hang around.
Alizée was careful to approach the stallion, not quite sure on how his state of mind could be. Or if he was just a hostile creature in the first place. She had spoken to him before, and though he was a bit stand-offish at first, he was nice enough to her. Maybe he needed a friend. It was worth a shot, and if he didn't want to talk, she would leave as easy as she came. "Fusion.?

His mind was wandering into dark places, thinking of dark thoughts, as the sun finally disappeared over the ocean's horizon. Even as the stars twinkled above, the stallion's mind was almost to the point of never going back to normal, until a new scent brought him to his senses. Ears swiveled on top of his head, trying to hear the approaching horse, but to no avail. Gentle eyes blinked, as he turned his head away from the sea, toward where he could smell this horse. Another Era. He knew that most of the Eras wandered away from the plateau during their stay in his father's herd, but he didn't think any had really survived the Zunden's onslaught.
Shaking his head violently, he noticed that it was a mare, and her smell was so familiar. He just couldn't unlock where he'd run across her before. That was, until the mare appeared in his sights, and called his name. Alizee?! I didn't realize someone else had survived, his voice was a mixture of emotions, even though he knew Alizee. Fusion took a hesitant step forward, his ears perked. However, his insecurity caused him to hesitate, and he instantly took a step back, splashing into the waves rolling upon the beach.

To say the stallion looked surprised to see her was an understatement. Even in the low moonlight, she could see the glow of shock on his features as he stood in the rumbling surf of the ocean. She kept her movements slow, in case she startled him, her hooves lightly kicking up sand as she moved in the moon-washed beach. The sky still held a hint of the sun over the ocean with a thin sliver of orange that stained parts of the water. Alizee was careful, if not cautious of the stallion. She didn't know how he would react to her presence; he had to of seen his father's body. The state of his mind was in question, but she hoped he was alright.
The mare blinked as he spoke and took a step forward, and she smiled softly in encouragement, but it also was a bit sad. She stopped her advance towards him once he took a step back into the water, and froze in place. She studied him carefully with her doe-brown eyes, suddenly unsure. "I thought the same, too," she said after a moment, still trying to appear gentle and soothing. "But here we are.." Alizee stilled the winds around her, and the breeze coming off of the ocean picked up the slack, tossing her mane around across her face and neck.
"Are you sure we're the only ones..? I mean, plenty of others wandered around as I did. I'm hoping they didn't share the same fate as.." she stopped herself from saying his father's name, before continuing,"I can go around and ask if anyone has seen anyone with Era markings? That is, if you want everyone to rally up again. It's your call now." In his father's death, the position of lord went onto him. Whatever he asked her to do, she would oblige.
She was never really one for herds, and she truly only joined the Era herd to get a taste of what it was like to be among a family group. But it didn't turn out how she expected; she always felt disconnected, as if she were merely a spectator in the herd life. That was a reason why she always wandered, searching for perhaps something better for her to settle down into, but the opportunity never arose to the occasion. But now, she wasn't going to simply abandon Fusion. Especially when it seemed like they were the only two left of their race. She glanced towards his legs being lapped up into the water, and she nodded her head in indication. "A little chilly to be playing in the water, don't you agree?" -dark river, x-ray dog c:

The stallion obviously faltered, his ears dancing back toward his skull, tail slapping his hide with such force that it stung. Nostrils quivered, as the vision of his father's burnt corpse lying beside the pool of water came to him, a sadness washing over him with such ferocity. Fusion lowered his head, his eyes looking to the sandy beach below his hooves, as a defeated sigh escaped him.
"We can only hope that others had made it away from the plateau before the Zunden had attacked. I don't plan on looking... I've already sent a message upon the winds to tell them that I have at least survived, and to meet me upon the beaches if they wanted to reform the herd. If they didn't want to, then they can live out their days in seclusion. Fusion looked up from the ground, blue eyes darkening faintly.
He honestly didn't care what happened to the Era herd now that most of the members had died during the attack. The paint just wanted to live out his life away from all this hate, all this death. Living on this island was going to drive him insane, but it wasn't like he could just swim away. As Alizee commented about it being a tad chilly to play in the ocean, a small smile crossed the stallin's muzzle. It had been a while since he had felt any bit of happiness. Moving out of the waves that now tugged at his fetlocks, the Era walked past his friend, further upon the sandy beach. Wasn't exactly wanting to go swimming. Not with it being a chilly night. Fusion looked up at the cloudless sky, remembering all the times when he and his father had done so upon the plateau. So many unspoken words between the two, and now he would never know if there was anything else his father wanted to talk about. Blue eyes blinked away tears that welled up inside them. Fusion had promised himself not to mourn his father's death for too long, to not be as weak as the other stallions within the Hannibal bloodline were. Blue eyes fell upon the mare once again, and he perked his ears. What would you like to do, Alizee? Alizee could feel empathy for Fusion's sadness. She had seen from her observations that he had been very close to his father, and to lose someone you held so dearly had to be a huge blow. She didn't think she would be able to grasp how he was feeling right now in response to the Zuden attack. Everything had been ruined, and yet, was there ever anything there? She knew Fusion and his relatives almost always had a presence in the Era lands, but after a while, all accumulated members had begun to dissipate and slowly disappear. For all she knew, they could have died off long ago before the Zuden launched their attack on the land. She hoped that wasn't the case, but it was much better than falling under the flame of your enemies.
She nodded slightly as he spoke, her eyes studying the stallion carefully. "I think I may have heard your call - but the wind whispers so much, it's hard to focus on all it's saying," she said, her shoulders rising in a small shrug. "I just hope others heard it too. It's hard to think that maybe we're the only ones left." She saddened at the thought; were they both really all alone? It was a race's success to have thriving numbers, but they dwindled to very few. She smiled at his comment, and watched him as he stepped out of the water. Her ears flicked curiously as he spoke again, and considered a moment. "Sure, I don't have anywhere else to go, and I could use the company," she said with a smile. -dark river, x-ray dog c:

A breeze tugged gently at the painted stallion's tresses, a few of the strands of hair falling over his blue eyes, stinging them as they whipped across his face. Blinking rapidly as he thrashed his head sideways, a snort escaped flared nostrils. Fusion wasn't sure if he was really ready to move on, to wander away from where he had been living after the Zunden attacked. Although, it would probably be for the best, since the Era herd was small as it was, their wanderings could probably find more of their kind. Besides... it would be what his father would want. For Fusion to be the rebirth of the Era lineage. A gentle sigh escaped the stallion, as he lowered his head, looking much like he had been defeated.
I did enjoy your company back in the homelands. It's just been a while since I've seen you,
heat rose within the young paint's face, and he had to turn his baby blues away so she didn't see the look he had been giving her. Fusion shuffled his hoof awkwardly against the soft sand, glancing down at it to preoccupy his mind. It wasn't right for him to crush on her, she was, after all, older than he was. He was being nothing but a silly colt. Snorting at his thoughts, he turned his eyes upon the mare, and let a small smile cross his muzzle. Where to? fusion. two hundred thirty six. sorry it's short, lynxeth. to zandarkand, final fantasy x. lizzeh 2012. a24fbd SPEECH Alizee often wondered what would happen to the Zuden breed if they ever successfully destroyed everything on the island. What would happen to them? She would think, that somewhere down the line, inbreeding would commence, which would stamp out the breed with disease and disabilities. And aren't they about perfection of the race, which is why they tried taking out everyone who wasn't their own? It didn't make sense to her, but she could be doubting their numbers. If they had taken out so many horses since they sprang up, then there must be many. But fire was a dangerous element. Where were the Nyfrio? Did they not wish to face their counterparts? The island needed them the most, and yet they didn't step up to help. No one stepped up to help. Were they all doomed to slowly die off one by one? The thought made her shiver. She hoped to God not.
Her attention drew back to the stallion in front of her as he spoke, and she smiled. "Really? For a while, I thought I was an annoyance," she said with a soft laugh. She knew she was a bit.. odd, at times, and that side of her had come out when she first met Fusion. They had spoken very briefly, but she wasn't going to point that out. She studied him carefully as he appeared to become uncomfortable, watching him shift around as if something bothered him suddenly. Well, of course something bothered him, he lost his home and family! Shaking that away, she shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know," she admitted, "But we have the whole island in front of us, does it really matter where we go? Come on, let's at least get off the beach, it'll be warmer away from the water."
