From out of the charred remains of a few trees, ones Hannibal had clearly scorched when he was alive, a single soul walked. The equine's cranium was lowered toward the barren ground, nostrils quivering as the scents of many horses danced around him. The autumn sun hid behind thick clouds, dark gray and preparing to drench the island once more in a torrential downpour, but the prospect of rain didn't bother the stallion who roamed through Terra Scure. Perhaps it would wash away the sadness that clutched his broken heart? Eyes slid so they rested halfway over his eyes, a lazy look crossing over his face. Haize had disappeared, much like Joker was accustomed to Hannibal doing, and it frightened him. What would happen to the poor young Era? Would she manage to find her way back to the plateau that the hell-horse, Davi, had stolen her from?
A raven called from a dead tree to his right, drawing his attention from the thoughts plaguing his mind. Instantly, eyes went to the bird, narrowing at the sudden noise that startled him out of his concentration. Ravens. Weren't they in allegiance with Lassan and his gang? What was one doing in Terra Scure? Snorting in annoyance, he turned away from the ebony creature, his hooves carrying away from the dead scene that he had been traveling through. Since Hannibal's death, Joker had gone to lurking the trees of Terra Scure, allowing anyone to claim Felwood as their home. He had no rights to it, well, except that his own dead father had been leader before murdered by the hell-horse that everyone seemed to know about.
The Draft's ears pinned tight against his skull. How he despised Hannibal now. It was all his fault. His family would be together now, he would be with Devil, and he wouldn't have to deal with such a heartbreak that Haize's disappearance had left him with. Blinking his eyes, he could feel the sting as tears welled within them. He hadn't shed a tear since he had realized he had lost his twin sister. Breathing out deeply, Joker paused in his walk, his attention turning to the trees around him once more. More dead trees? Was this place ever going to live? Stomping a hoof against the ground, the stallion stood still within this small clearing, not really expecting anyone to wander across his path. thoughts. speech.Storms always got the best of her for some reason. Something in the air whispered of nothing but pure energy – an upcoming light show for all to see, no matter their location. They were certainly one of the most entertaining forms of nature’s power. Days ridden with downpour and thunder that shook the ground were certainly anything but uneventful. And so, when the night had found its way to morning, she’d found it in the depths of her restless spirit to set out on an aimless adventure. The mare must have been wandering around the island for an hour, but her whereabouts didn’t bother her much at all. Territory borders were unimportant to her, other than those of the Zunden. After making an alliance with that herd, she had watched her steps closely so that she didn’t tread on their land and anger them. Alliance or not, they were haughty, irritable little creatures, and she wasn’t up for a fight to see who could be the biggest bully of the two herds. She didn’t like the idea of being deep-fried much, either – even if she could just as easily return the favor. After a while, she’d honestly stopped paying attention to the surroundings. Grass turned into dirt and bushes turned into the dead skeletons of old shrubbery. She knew where she was – or at least, her mind had an idea. Terra Scure, or one of the areas that the lone horses wandered. None of the scents that lingered on the trunks seemed to match, and the hoof prints on the ground were somewhat faded throughout most of the journey, though not all were like that. There was nothing quite fruitful for her to do other than watch the sky – which seemed to get clearer as she ventured further down the path she’d chosen. The orange and reddish trees from where she’d started her journey had quickly seemed to disappear into nothing but dead plants, worse than before – these had the telltale signs that they’d been burned bare. She wouldn’t put it past the Zunden to do something like that, but a faint scent in the water droplets that hung in the air caught her attention, offering another option. Joker. She’d certainly heard of Hannibal’s death, but hadn’t paid much attention to where or why. It was hard to grow attached to – much less to like – a stallion like him. Bad-tempered, arrogant, and conniving.. Perhaps the thing she disliked most was that his personality reminded her of the monster she knew she’d been bordering on becoming in the past few months. It wasn’t a rare thing for her to be called hot-blooded, if not by someone from her own herd then by an outsider. And so, like a jealous ex-girlfriend, it’d taken some determination to squash the homicidal thoughts that’d plagued her mind when she realized the sweet, hostage Era had gotten her hooves wrapped up around Joker’s heart. Needless to say, she hadn’t been to visit him in a while.. but she hardly ever did to start with, considering that her anxious heart hardly let her get a full night’s sleep. A snort escaped her flaring nostrils right then, her amber eyes lifting up to glance at the distance before her. Stay. Leave. Stay. Leave. The halves of her personality bickered bitterly in her mind before she finally decided to regain control of her actions. Strutting forth, her hooves made soft impressions on the ground as she headed his way. Her brisk approach soon softened however, and she pinned her ears back against her skull as she drew closer, with the stallion only a few feet from where she stood. It took a few seconds for Devil to find her runaway voice, finally letting an eerily calm comment to flow from her lips. “It’s been a while.”[/blockquote]

Time seemed to give Joker an unlimited amount to think, to wallow in the guilt and sadness that had now gripped his broken heart. Thoughts that he had never began thinking until now wandered in and out, almost as if they had no reason to stay within his mind. Eyes looked to his hooves, the same hooves that followed Hannibal to his doom, the same hooves that had kept him beside Haize's side. Ears flicked back against his skull, and nostrils flared angrily. Where this anger had suddenly flared from, Joker didn't know, but now he was angry at himself, for thinking such things as he had been. He would've continued on with his mood swings, if something upon the air didn't distract him first.
Ears left his skull, tilting precariously forward, the sound of hooves upon the soft ground drawing his attention. Then, her voice filled the desolate air, an unusual calmness reflecting in it's tones. Eyes blinked, the tears that had threatened moments ago, gone, now hidden once more behind a facade that he had already began to put on. His head, however, remained where it was, not looking toward where he knew Devil stood. Oh, hasn't it been, Devil. I'm curious as to why you decided to come around now, of all times. Maybe it's because your jealousy drove you to come see if it was true that Haize was gone, his words, and the way he said them, were so unlike how he spoke with this mare, so much more eerie and chilling than normal. Or perhaps your jealousy has driven you to come here and destroy the being that has placed such feelings within you. Perhaps you are merely wandering through this piece of unclaimed land or maybe you are here looking for others of your... kind. The last word was hissed. Yes, Joker knew that Devil wasn't an ordinary horse. He had seen the things she had done, the powers she had used, the difference in her appearance that maybe no one else had noticed. Joker wasn't a stupid stallion like most on the island. He had inherited his mother's perception of things, something his father had never had. If he had, then he would've known Hannibal's return to Felwood would be Nefarian's doom.
Snorting, the stallion finally turned his head to look at the mare, his eyes boring deeply into hers. So tell me, little Navita, why are you here? The words hung in the air, like a thick fog blanketing everything around them, as his eyes continued to stare at the mare he had first grown attached to. Deep down, he wanted to lash out at the mare. Even though Devil had done nothing wrong, the painted stallion wanted to blame everything on her. the joker . fall, daft punk (tron soundtrack). four hundred fifty nine. thoughts. speech. Her ears remained flattened against her skull, almost as if they wished to block out and muffle the voice that slithered its way from the stallion’s throat. His comment brought a smirk to her lips, though it quickly faded away like a firefly’s brief, flickering light. She said nothing for a few moments, simply letting the words sink in while she tried to come up with a viable answer. However, he spoke again, leaving her in silence for a bit longer. She’d never disliked Haize, but the thought of how defensive Joker had been of her left a sour taste in her mouth that she rebelled against in the depths of her soul. The two mares had little in common, and that was the main source of an undying insecurity that elbowed her in the side whenever Joker had crossed her mind. And oh, he’d crossed her mind quite a lot – not that she acted on it, but he lingered in the memories like an echo that wouldn’t melt into silence. Something in his words when he spoke about her, though, was different this time around. The way he addressed her breed mimicked what she expected of a Zunden, but not him. Biting her tongue, though, she let her ardent personality sit idly by while she paid attention to the rest of his words, which he uttered with a burning stare. Her tail flicked behind her anxiously, a flicker in her eyes returning the subtle discontent and tension that clouded the air like sulfur. “The same reason we always cross paths, Joker – I’m too restless for my own good,” she answered, emphasizing his name with a tone between a hiss and a yearling’s love-stricken coo. “and perhaps I’ve not too much pride to say I missed you while the Era and Hannibal kept you at bay.”The mare fell silent then, her mind frolicking back down the dilapidated path of memories. She could still feel the salty, ocean breeze fill her lungs on the summer night that the two had ventured off towards the beach, as well as taste the sea grass that grew along the banks of a river in Felwood. But it was not the time for memories – Terra Scure was no place for light-hearted nostalgia. She wasn’t even sure the stallion who stood before her was still the one she’d started to fall for back then. Time changed people – and they, as well as Hannibal, were perfect examples of that. A violent snort escaped the stallion at the she-devil's words. Missed him? If Devil had truly missed him then she wouldn't have distanced herself from him, would've come to realize that the stallion didn't want her to leave his side. But she had, and this was the outcome to it. A bitter feeling left within a torn heart, something that should've remained one if Haize hadn't come into the picture. Miss me? You had all the chances in the world to come visit me. You chose not to. Joker's voice growled at her, something that he had picked up from Hannibal, a bad habit that he would have to drop sooner rather than later. Especially if he wanted to be with Devil once again.
Flaring his nostrils, he turned away from her, staring off into the trees around him. There wasn't much else he could say to her, nothing that he wanted to snap at her for. He couldn't do it, whatever there was to say, he couldn't form the words. Jaws clenched, and he shifted his weight uncomfortably. Finally, after a few moments of silence, words formed within his head. There is nothing else I have to say, Devil... if there is anything you'd like to add, go ahead. If you want to just leave, I'm not stopping you. Despite being younger, he spoke as if he were much older. the joker . fall, daft punk (tron soundtrack). two hundred thirty eight. thoughts. speech. She couldn't find it in herself to judge whether he was being arrogant, or if she was simply looking in the mirror at her own reflection. Everything about her personality had been magnified since she'd taken on the leadership of her herd; thus she knew very well that it might have actually been her fault that the two seemed to go months at a time without catching a glimpse of the other. I had all the chances in the world, huh? she hissed, falling silent shortly after, while a devilish spark lit up her eyes. She wanted to deny it, to curl like a bitter rattlesnake and say she'd been a rather busy person. But that'd be a lie, and he knew her better than that. Navitas found time for everything, considering that they were like walking batteries. The hardest thing she'd encountered so far was seeking out new ways to fill up her idle time. Life moved much too slowly for her, and she was doomed to walk its lonesome plains for as long as the snow fell every winter. I know you were busy looking after Haize, but you had enough time as well, she retorted, lifting her head and looking away from the stallion, avoiding eye contact tactfully by letting herself glare off into the distance. If you want to just leave, I'm not stopping you.She kept her eyes on the sooty trees, though her cranium lowered briefly to allow her a brief glance to make sure he was still there. She would have left. The restlessness - and pridefullness - bid her to do so and carry on with her life, but she couldn't; she wouldn't. Damned stallion. The Navita's ear twitched briefly as the words came, rolling from her venomous tongue in an unusually harmless manner. Look at us.. she whispered, the eerie Autumn wind giving a chilly howl in the distance. I remember when I used to make every hair on your body stand on end.Her gaze slowly shifted back to him, some of her old antics seeping out from the past and into the current situation in the form of small, glowing swirls of light - floating peacefully between the two strangers. Eyes narrowed at the Navita, and the stallion wanted to strike out at her, to wipe the arrogance from her. She hadn't ever been this way before, at least, not when they were younger. Blinking his eyes a few times at Haize's name, the stallion looked down to the ground, another surge of sadness sweeping through the painted hellion. Shuffling a hoof across the ground, he then looked back up at his long time friend. Haize... yes, I guess I could visit you with my ward tagging along behind me, but then again... you wouldn't have liked to see that, would you? I'm not as naive as I used to be, my dear. I know what feelings plague you. A small smile tugged the corners of the draft's mouth, and he took a few precarious steps toward the mare, ears tilted toward her. Eyes caught Devil's quick glance at him, and it set his heart aflutter. Much like Haize's glances did to him.
Reaching forward, he listened to the mare's words dance upon the chilly fall air, his muzzle touching the skin of her shoulder gently. Of course, he wasn't going to deny that Devil always had an effect on him, more so than anyone else had. What had happened between the two? The tales of lovers on this island seemed to always go down the path that of Hannibal and Tuula, but were they all the same? Flaring his nostrils, he nuzzled the mare's shoulder blade, letting out a small nicker. You still have that affect on me, love. You always will, he admitted to her, moving his body so he stood next to her, his skin rubbing against hers.
The young stallion looked off into the charred trees, his thoughts wandering. Mostly on the past, his parents and his twin sister, about what would've happened if Hannibal hadn't come back and killed Nefarian, hadn't usurped his territory from him. If Kendora hadn't run off so she wouldn't have died to Hannibal's torturous ways. Flaring his nostrils, Joker turned his head, pressing his nose to the mare's neck, finding some comfort to her presence. j o k e r . three hundred sixty five . no muse music . lizzeh 2011 .[/blockquote]

thoughts. speech.Part of her wanted to shift away when he drew closer, out of sheer spite. But she didn't - she stayed where she stood, chasing off the bitterness inside as if it were a plague; and perhaps it was exactly that: a disease, contagious among the scorned and the spoiled. She had not a doubt that the wickedness of always getting her away had led many a horse astray. But she refused to let such a fickle thing take power of her - specially when the space between the two horses - a thing that had only grown in the span of several months - seemed to be closing up in a matter of moments. It was foolish to think the wounds of the past could trully bounce back so easily, but at least there was motivation to heal, and that instilled a sense of hope that she'd turned a cold shoulder to many times before. You were smart to stay away.. she finally admitted, her ears flattening against her skull as he drew closer. You still have that effect on me, love. You always will. There he went again, tearing down the walls she'd cautiously built up around herself. Most horses that she dared find herself getting close to didn't last long around her - hell, the present situation wasn't much different. What would happen if time kept rolling by? Devil wouldn't age. She'd most likely stay the way she was - reckless and restless. What would happen to Joker, though? The thoughts were a flurry in her head, as dangerous as a tornado winding its way through a wildfire. But she managed to set them aside, yanking herself out of the treacherous depths of her mind soon enough to catch Joker lost in the same predicament. A soft nicker escaped her lips, her muzzle nudging the center of the stallion's head softly. Thoughts are dangerous, she whispered, a smile finally washing onto her face for the time being. They're better off being ignored for as long as possible.[/blockquote]

Nostrils flared, as he put his nose against the mare's cheek. He had missed the smell of Devil, had missed being so close to her. There was something about her that made her different than Haize. Something that made her... wild. Ears twitched on top of the stallion's head, as he pulled his nose away from the mare's cheek. Dear Devil. If I stayed away too long, though, I might have lost you. You could've chosen someone else to tag along with, chosen someone else's heart to steal. It wasn't every day that he would confess something like that, but it was Devil, the first person he had really grown close to outside of his family. Tail swayed slowly, brushing over her hide, a coy smile crossing his lips.
As she spoke of thoughts being dangerous, he blinked his eyes at her. She was really one to speak. The mare had been known to get lost in her thoughts. Ears flicked slightly at her words, and he snorted. Of course, but if you forget about them for a while, they can come back to hurt you in the end. A deep sigh escaped the stallion, as his body rested closer to the Navita's. My dear, what is it you'd like for me to do? I will follow you to all ends of the Earth.
His thoughts were preoccupied for an instant once more. Joker knew what Devil was and he wondered what it would mean for their relationship. The stallion worried that he would be aging, growing older and older, and the mare beside him would never age, would never die. Sighing, the stallion looked off into the trees once more, his ears flicking back against his head. He didn't like thinking about losing Devil, not to anything, and yet here he might. She watched him carefully, finding the smallest feeling of his nose against her cheek to be the most comforting thing she'd come across in a while. She'd never been one to stay where everything she wanted was at her fingertips, and found it much more entertaining to leave the comforts of home in search of adventure - but this situation was different. It wasn't something she wanted to run from, not again, at least. You could never lose me, Joker. She commented, the words nothing more than whispers on her lips: barely audible, but heartfelt. She let a subtle smirk cross her expressions as he said something about supressed thoughts, and she could see the irony of her own comment in his eyes. It was true.. forgotten thoughts seemed to slither through your subconscious until they finally broke through to the light, and then they were far too strong to chase off like a rat - they curled up like a rattlesnake in your path. Her attention, however, eagerly hurried along to his next words rather than spending any more time on the previous ones. I will follow you to all ends of the Earth. That phrase rang through her skull like an echo, bouncing off of different ideas, particularly one that'd been bugging her for quite a while. What if Joker wasn't just one of the normal horse breeds? What if she turned him into something more? Would he want the power and could he bear the hassle of never really growing tired? For a few minutes, she tried to size him up - trying to make heads or tails of what he wanted, and whether or not it'd be a blessing or a curse to him. It was all she'd ever known, so she couldn't exactly provide an adequate review if she couldn't compare it to anything.. Finding it easier to see what he thought rather than trying to guess, however, she finally voiced the idea. Join me.. Come back to Terra di Energia. Let's make the island learn and covet what it truly means to live forever. She wanted to share it with him, if he would accept it. Running free would be better if he was with her, galloping recklessly over forbidden lands. [/blockquote]

You could never lose me, Joker.
Nostrils flared, and he let that serene smile cross over his muzzle. He was filled with such a happiness that he never felt before. Something that tugged at his heart, made butterflies flutter within his stomach. Eyes blinked, the red-brown staring at the mare beside him, taking in every detail about her. He had almost forgotten the little markings that made her the elemental horse she was. Oh, how Joker wanted to be like an elemental, to wield such a power. Red-brown eyes tore away from Devil's form, to the trees that made up Terra Scure, and he breathed out. The cold, moist air clung to his multi-hued pelt, as he stood there beside the Navita leader.
As she spoke once more, Joker's head turned to look at her once more. She wanted him to go with her... to be one of her kind. Ears flicked back for a moment, nostrils quivering, the idea flipping around in his mind. What would it be like, to never really have to rest again, to be full of energy? His mind toyed with the idea, but deep down, it startled him. Being a normal horse was all he had ever known, all he had ever really cared about being, until he had found out what Devil was.
His mind pondered some more, about the idea, and the stallion breathed out slowly. My Devil, what would it do to me? What would it do to my body? Joker moved his body away from hers, turning to look straight at her. What would I have to do? joker. a thousand years, christina perri. two hundred eighty one. lizzeh 2011.

[atrb=background,http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt231/BabyBlueKillah/Clothes/RPCS/Stellatable.png] I like where I'm at, on my back, floating down in my own riptide.
You'll never grow tired.. she whispered, the simple explanation hanging in the air peacefully for a few seconds until she could explain further. Her eyes seemed to grow more intense, brimming with anxiousness about what was to come, and how he might feel about it all. It'll feel like the world's in your grasp. You'll probably feel reckless, and crazy - completely out of tune with everything and everyone that ever said you couldn't do something. Living like normal horses will never satisfy you again.. you'll yearn for adrenaline, for the chase and the fight rather than the reward.
Finally falling silent, the mare's nostrils flared slightly as she allowed more thoughts to rush through her head. Could he handle it? She knew it didn't exactly sit well or make any sense to the normal horses of the island. The Navita had two reputations that followed them eagerly, nipping at their heels like annoying little sheepdogs. One of them was the classic tale of how they were in their 'golden years' for life, and the other was much less flattering - it compared them to yearlings in need of discipline, due to their apathy about consequences. Though some felt more annoyance for them rather than revenance, one thing was certain - nobody wanted to make an enemy of a tireless, immortal creature with a thirst for trouble. She'd turned a few before and they quickly grew to love the feeling of 'letting go', but it wasn't exactly set in stone that it'd work for everyone. Even she felt out of control sometimes - a loose cannon, a walking trainwreck that crashed, got up, and kept going.
As for your body, well.. it'll love you for it. Your heart will never grow tired or feel like it'll give out, and your bones will never grow brittle and old. You can forget about retirement as a wise elder, she joked, giving a toss of her forelock and a devilish smile.
Oh, you just have to get struck by lightning, no biggie. 'No biggie' was exactly the opposite of what she knew he might express, but it was a feeble attempt at trying to make it seem any less intimidating.

...never grow tired...
Ears twitched on top of Joker's head. Was he really ready for this? To never grow tired, to always feel the endless energy that Devil had? Red-brown eyes looked down at the ground, and he scoffed his hoof against it gently. He mulled over the possibilities this might hold for him. Flaring his nostrils, he looked around them again, obviously a bit uncertain about it all.
As the mare continued to speak, Joker was only half listening to her words. Never grow tired, never age, always look like he was a young stallion. Everything a horse wanted, and it was being offered to him, but was he absolutely sure he wanted it? Eyes went back to his companion, and he breathed out slowly.
Get struck by lightning? That's it? Didn't seem too difficult. But, then again, it'd be a mortal horse getting struck with a force of nature that could kill. Psychically, he shook it off. Mentally, he was slightly scared. What if the lightning killed him? What if this was all a trick? Ears tilted back against his skull, and he breathed out slowly. This was Devil he was talking about. The one who had his heart first. He trusted her more than anyone else on this island. joker
