**Dia Herd Creation & Information ;;
general ;;- an extremely rare breed, the dia horses haven't been seen in over six years on the isles of the island, and most have thought them to be extinct. however, their numbers are slowly rising again, and more and more dia horses are showing up all over the island, recognized by their dazzling coats and noble personalities. many roam around the islands, existing in other herds quietly, but some have made a permanent home in the lands of
servo venia, under the current lord of the dia,
jedi's return.
herd relations ;;- being horses of the day, they have a natural aversion to the
arrats, the breed of the night, and most steer clear of the
grims and reapers, the breeds of death. currently, they are also at odds with the
zünden and
navita as well. with the other breeds, including the mortals, many dia are neutral in their feelings, and there are no alliances as of yet. long ago, there was a time when the dia were once extremely close with their sister herd, the
zoe, the breed of life, but now that the zoe are extinct the fellowship has died with them.
meaning ;;- dia is a word of many meanings; in the arabic language it is a form of the word 'diya' which means splendor and light, in the greek language it means bright sky or heavenly one, while in the spanish language it means day. no matter how you look at it, the meaning is the same, it all comes back to the light.
height ;;females - 14.2 to 16.2 hh
males - 15.2 to 17 hh

temperament ;;- noble, bold and brave, these horses represent all that has been lost in the world, all the virtues and honor that everyone should show to their fellow kind. many will risk life and limb to protect those that are close with them, and others still will go out of their way to right whatever wrong they happen to pass by. kind by nature, and friendly to all regardless of alliance, they are not shy about asking questions, but don't pry into others personal lives. but while they may seem calm, these equines are not pacifistic in any sense of the word; a deep thirst for justice wells in their hearts, a hunger for the righteous to win, and it is not unknown for a dia horse to fly off the handle should something that goes against their nature happen right in front of them.
powers ;;- like all elemental breeds, the dia have their own powers, the power to use and control light and brightness. as such, their abilities are enhanced during the day and weaken during the night. below is a list of the powers available to the dia horses:
)) light manipulation & creation - one of the two most basic abilities of the dia, the ability to manipulate and create their own sources of light is hardwired into the minds of every dia born foal. they can set their pelts aglow with light, brighten up even the darkest places, and turn light itself into a solid object of any shape for any use for a limited amount of time. because of the versatile nature of this ability, it can be used in a many number of ways.
)) immortality & enhanced self-healing - the second most basic ability is the ability of immortality. the dia are beings of light, and as long as they have light to live by, they will continue to live and rejuvenate themselves. to put a dia into a dark place with no light for an extended period of time is a death sentence, for while some can ward off the darkness for up to a month, without another source of light, they will burn out and die. this also works in favor of their physical health as well; should a dia be injured, all they must do is walk out into the sun - small scrapes and bruises heal within minutes, while a broken bone may take as a little as week to heal completely. the longer they are in the sun, the more quickly they heal.
)) healing wave - healing themselves is not the only healing a dia can do; as they were once close with the zoe and were known to interbreed with them, the new generation of dia can now turn their light into a healing wave for others as well depending on how much sunlight they'd been expose to during the duration of the day. just by touching the injured area, they can use the light to enhance the immune system and hyper-drive the healing process of one's form; the more light they've had, the more potent the healing wave is, and the more injuries they can heal. however, it takes away from the dia's health in turn, as it drains them of their light, so it is not uncommon to see a sickly dia not long after they've offered their healing to someone else. the more serious the injury, the more sickly the dia will become.
)) illusions - having control of light, a dia with a certain mastery of their powers can easily create illusions out of thin air, ranging from a simple rainbow to a full blown circus act if they so wished. those who master this power can even create physical illusions that can seemingly touch and be touched. therefore, it is common knowledge that it is not wise to trust your eyes when fighting against a dia, some will readily use this ability in order to avoid confrontation. however, because of the violate nature of light-waves, it takes a lot of concentration, with more concentration needed for much larger illusions.
)) empathy - the dia, with all their kindness, are beings of great empathy, and can feel whatever another horse is feeling, whether they be dia or another breed completely. it is this ability that has made the dia horses into the gentle souls they are, as they feel the pain of their friends and fellow equines unlike any other breed can.
)) enlightenment - a power only seen in the royal family of the dia herd, the ability of enlightenment is the power to transform another horse into a dia horse. it can only be done on a day with no clouds when the sun is at its highest point. they will not force the transformation on others though, as it has to be agreed on by both parties - an unwilling horse will not be transformed into a dia. the event is considered sacred amongst the dia; only those closest with the new dia can attend the ceremony which is held at a secret location only known to the dia themselves.
coat colors ;;- the dia come in all natural colors; bay, cremello, black, etc. however, their coats are always light in color, and shimmer unnaturally in the sunlight.
mane colors ;;- all natural colors, but are usually darker in shade than most other horses.
marking colors ;;- all natural markings and colors, although most have either blazes, stars, or a combination of the two.
hoof colors ;;- black, clear and grey, no other colors.
