[/size][/i] Breathing labored, heart pounding with fear, the mare slowed down as the view of Rocas came into view, a small amount of relief flooding throughout her body. "Ahriman," The mare nosed the colt breathlessly, feeling his labored breathing. "We are here, it's okay." The foal's blue eyes looked to his mother, uncertainty strong. The mare merely nudged him, eyes pleading and afraid before pulling away.
Where was Phantom? The mare who ruled these lands, shouldn't she have already known the two were approaching? Ears perked, she continued into the lands, nostrils taking in the scent of little activity here in this barren part of the lands. Eyes surveyed cautiously, the sun bearing down on her already heated body. The mare stopped to bend down, taking in the scents on the barren ground. No one had been here in weeks. Annabelle took in a deep breath as she rose her cranium back to look around once more, eyes catching on a green in the distance. Had that been there before? "Not much further," The mare nudged the tired foal, sparing what little reassurance she could to the little creature. Fear was rolling off of the little thing, nostrils flaring and eyes uncertain of the barren landscape. What was happening?
The mare continued to walk, glancing every few moments down to the young colt at her side. Thoughts began to race throughout her mind, the majority pertaining to her mate. What was happening there? Was he alright? Was he hurt? The nyfrio mutt shook her head, the heat beginning to become unbearable as flies bit down on her rump relentlessly. She sighed, slapping the flies away but they came back as soon as her whipcord was away from her rump. Eyes landed on her foal, sweat beginning to bead on his muzzle as he continued with his mother, determined to follow her. An idea crossed her mind, a smile beginning to form as she began to summon rainclouds to block the sky.

Today was the day. Phantom had been waiting for this. Her friend Annabelle, the mare who out of the kindness of her heart and soul, agreed to take little Tristan from Phantom. The buckskin colt had been born only eight days ago. These past eight days Phantom had excluded herself from the herd, not wanting to see anyone until the little bastard child was away from her side. She had been kind enough to him. She had fed him, offered him warmth and comfort, and she even went as far as to teach him the basics that he needed to know. It might seem motherly, but Phantom is far from the maternal type. She performed these actions out of a sense of duty rather than love. Her duty was to keep him alive and happy and that was what she was doing.
The ivory mare lifted her head when she heard the distinct cawing of her raven friend Angua. A small smile crept onto Phantom's face as the black bird landed on her rump. Tristan, who was half asleep, gave a sharp whinny and hid on the other side of Phantom. The mare rolled her eyes and looked back at the bird. "Yes Angua?" she asked.
"Miss Phantom." the raven greeted with a slight bob of her sleek head. "Miss Annabelle and her child have wandered into the lands. I assume tha' they're here t'take Tristan for ya now."
The smile on Phantom's face turned into a beaming grin. Her eyes, for the first time in months, lit up with vivid life again. "Thank you Angua! Thank you so much!" Phantom exclaimed, her head going up eagerly and her tail swishing in circles. Chocolate eyes drifted t the stil cowering foal by her side. "C'mon Tristan, we are going to go meet your mother. How's that sound?" she informed him ith a small smile. The little colt merely nodded in response, waiting for Phantom to lead him to his mother.
Phantom had been telling Tristan that she had been keeping Tristan while his mother and sibling were away. Tristan felt a bond with Phantom and he always wanted to call her mother, but she kept telling him that she was just his mother's friend who was babysitting him for a few days while his 'mother' and sibling were away aking care of something. Luckily Tristan was little enough and believed every word that Phantom said. He liked this mare. Sometimes he wishedshe could be his mother, seeing that he only had a brief memory of the mare that Phantom told him was, in fact, his dam.
Phantom slowly trotted in the direction of Annabelle and her foal, making sure to keep a slow pace so Tristan would not lag behind. They only stopped when the mare and her foal came into view. Phantom lifted her head and let out a whinny, greeting her friend into the land. "So I see you've made it. she said with a smile. Her eyes then flicked to the foal standing by Annabelle's side. She smiled at the child and then turned her attentions back to the mare. "Congratulations. What did you name him?" she asked Annabelle.
"Well, Tristan is excited his mother has returned." Phantom said as the little foal trotted u pto Annabelle, stilla bit unsure of her. Was this really his mother? Miss Phantom sid she was, so wh owas Tristan to doubt. This mare looked kind and loving. A warm, inviting smile was on her face, just the thing that Tritan needed to instantly trust her. With a sharp whinny he gave a small buck and bolted the vry short distance to Annabelle's side, peering under her at his new sibling.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=black] Father and son stood stark still with threatening eyes and ivories bared at one another. Neither looked willing to step down from this fight. The stakes were too high - Orpheus's pride and the safety of Yamanu's family.
Within the blink of an eye, the two painted equines had spurred into motion. Orpheus's teeth met with his son's jaws in the first blow. A shrill whinny escaped Yamanu as rage surged through his veins. He ripped himself free of his father's grip and without sparing amount found his own maw wrapped around the skin of the larger brute's neck. A kick of tank's over-sized foreleg to his son's chest was enough to dislodge his bite.
Yamanu back away from his father, the breath taken from his chest and far more of his blood spilled than his elder's. This did not discourage the young one from launching another attack - this time at the very leg that struck him. The wind howled and raged as two of it's children sought for each other's blood. A kick here, a bite there, each received quite the battering. and it seemed as if the younger was getting the upper hand. He had made several blows upon his father, blood gushing from wounds and bruises soon to follow in other places. Yamanu's teeth were embedded into the larger's withers, his forelegs pressed against the heathen's rib cage, battering them terribly, when a familiar demonic glint crossed Orpheus's eyes. The look was caught moment's too late by the smaller stallion.
Orpheus rammed his large skull into his son's barrel, his war cry filling the air. The smaller didn't stand a chance against the brute force and went crashing to the ground. A pain-filled whinny tainted the air as he could feel the splintering of a bone in his foreleg. The next thing he knew, his father's large hoof was striking down at his skull. Rolling just in time, the young brute escaped death by inches. Pulling himself to his battered limbs, Yamanu took off in the opposite direction in which his mate had headed. The battle wasn't looking good for him and it was time to utilize the one thing he had over his father and his mass - speed. Adrenaline kept him moving as he led his father on a winding chase, blinding Yamanu from the pain that should have been surging through his injured leg and other wounds.
Eventually, the young brute lost his father and was able to head on the right trail back to his mate and adoptive son. He left Orpheus to buck and squeal with rage in his tracks...
......
Yamanu finally slowed as he reached the borders of Rocas territory, and as adrenaline abandoned his body, the pain inflicted by his father surged through him. He limped through the lands with his ears flickering at every passing sound in fear that his father might have somehow sneaked his way back onto his trail. But, every noise his eyes sought was the cause of some small vermin or fowl. He could rest easy that his father had given up the hunt for now. And, yet, he did not - it was all he could think about.
Eventually, his gaze crossed distant figures which the wind informed to be his mate, her friend, and their foals. He longed to take off in a mad gallop towards his family, but his leg prevented it. The stallion had been badly injured in his brawl, and this brought fears back into his mind. How would he protect them if his father returned for a second round?
As he reached Annabelle's side, the young brute nuzzled her neck gingerly before looking upon the two young foals at her side. His family was growing quickly, but should anything else be expected from the descendant of Tuula and Hannibal? Snorting, he had decided he didn't want to be a part of that family and their drama. It was time for a change. But, could abandoning his ties to his family actually allow him an escape? Regardless, his mind was made - they would not be returning to Avvolgere. Perhaps Rocas could be their new home? Yamanu doubted his leg, in it's current state, would allow them to travel much further.
Two-toned gaze idly went towards his mate's counterpart. He recognized her high composure and the scars amongst her bodice. She was likely a high-ranked warrior, and as such, he offered her a gentle bow of his crown in respect. "I am Yamanu," he introduced himself, his usual distance to others having returned outside of the intimate moments with Annabelle. "Is your leader around?" The stallion looked towards his family again. He had promised he would do what it took to protect them, and that was exactly what he intended.

[/size][/i] A forced smile remained on her maw to cover up the worry that crept through the depths of her body. "Ahriman," The younger mare returned quietly, observing the buckskin colt. "Hello there, little one. I am your mother," The mare turned to give him an affectionate and reassuring nuzzle. Ears suddenly caught the noise of someone approaching, a surge of sudden fear ran ramped through her small body for a slight moment until baby blues locked onto the form of a limping stallion. Yamanu? Nostrils then caught the scent of her mate, a large smile began to form on her lips momentarily before it was replaced by a very worried, scared and concerned frown.
She returned his affectionate nuzzle halfheartedly, a faint smile occupying her maw. Guilt began to consume her worry and fear as she stared absent minded at the stallion's swollen foreleg. This was her fault, this was because of her. Why hadn't she attempted to help? Oh yes, it was because of her irrational fear and her mate's command to flee.
The voice of her mate was what brought her out of a state of absent mindedness, eyes ripping away from his leg. The mare nodded halfheartedly, lost in her thoughts.
Ahriman, however, was very unaware he supposedly had a brother. He looked nothing like him! Already jealousy stung at his young heart, a steady glare returning the other colt's mindless stare. Maw twitched as he watched the other colt under his mother's still large belly with an icy glare. However, his young mind couldn't process that this possibly could not be his brother, so he merely watched his brother silently, ears beginning to retreat back against his skull. He gave a rough snort and broke his gaze with the buckskin and returned to the white mare. Who was she?

The foal smiled up at his mother and lovingly nuzzled her chest with a soft whinny. It felt good to have a mother. He was beginning to worry that she was never going to come for him, luckily she showed up when the white horse said she would. It never crossed his mind as to who the white mare was. The little buckskin rationalized in his young mind that she must be a friend to his mother.
His new brother, or old brother, (or maybe it was current brother seeing as he was probably born the same day. Did it even work that way? Little Tristan could not be sure.) was questionable as he pinned his ears back and glared at him. Tristan gave his brother a confused look as he snorted and looked back to their mother's friend. What was his issue? Oh well, it did not really matter. Tristan figured that the little display his brother put on was just something normal between siblings.
The young colt looked up and hid behind his mother when a stallion came wandering over. Not was he only the only male that Tristan had ever met, save his brother, but he was also big and injured. Judging by his mother's ease he figured that he should not fear the large horse too much. Perhaps this was his father! Wouldn't that be wonderful? ____
Phantom offered Ahriman a gentle smile and looked back to her friend. "I cannot thank you enough for this Annabelle." Phantom said with a bob of her head. "I am forever indebted to you. If you or your family ever need anything, and I really do mean that, please let me help." Phantom said with all sincerity. What Annabelle was doing for her was an act of kindness so great that Phantom felt it should have its own special word. By doing this Annabelle was literall changing her life, bringing back to before this whole mess. If the time ever came, Phantom would be willing to die for her friend.
The Arab's head lifted and her audits perked when a new scent drifted into her now flaring nostrils. It was that of a stallion. A minute later an injured stag wandered over to the small group of horses. It took Phantom a second but she realized that he must be Annabelle's mate. She had never met Annabelle's mate, but her friend had talked about him more than once.
Yamunu was what he introduced himself as. Phantom nodded her head and said "Phantom." giving her calling to the newcomer. He soon joined Annabelle which confirmed Phantom's thoughts on who he was. "I am guessing you are Annabelle's mate, yes?" she offered to the pair. Her chocolate eyes flicked down to his wounded leg and then back up to his face. "I have seen a good deal of injuries in my day, some very severe and ending in death to little scarpes. From my experience I think that you need to take care of that leg right away. You should all stay here for awhile until that gets doctored up and heals." Phantom said. Dammit she was going to help him wether he wanted her help or not. Hopefully her friend wouldn't mind too much.

Yamanu's attention remained momentarily distant from his mate and family. Instead, he focused upon the high ranked fae of these terrains. He bobbed his head with a quiet 'yes' in response to her query. As she spoke of them staying, even if temporarily, he was relieved. It was the best option. "That is probably for the best, I can't rightfully protect my family in this state." In fact, he planned on this being a more permanent home for his family, but that news could wait for a later time.
Currently, he needed to meet his newest child and reassure Annabelle in the situation. He knew the little mare was quick to worry, and that was the last thing he wanted. Turning his head to nuzzle the mare's neck gingerly, a quiet whisper escaped his lips. "Everything is okay now." He felt bad for making such a claim, for Orpheus was still alive and there was always a threat. He would die to protect her and his children, adopted or not. "Everything is okay," he repeated before nipping gently at her mane.
His two-toned orbs finally wandered down to his children. He nipped at Ahriman's neck with reprimand although never so harsh as to hurt the foal. "Ahriman, go play with your brother... play nice," the stallion gently nudge his father's son to spur movement before glancing over Annabelle's side at the hiding foal. He offered Tristan a quiet smile and a comforting whinny - he didn't want his children to fear him nor did he want them to hold foul nature for one another. He knew from experience what such things could do to a family.

[/size][/i] Worry began to seep into her heart, ears twitching slightly to return Yamanu's false claim. Everything was okay? Nothing was okay! Annabelle gave him a small, taut smile to assure she believed him. However, of course she didn't. She knew better, she knew everything was on the brink of falling apart. Lost in thoughts, she drew an ear toward her friend and mate, attempting to collect their conversation.
The colt felt a slight nip on his neck, his attention immediately turned away from the white mare to see who had scolded him even though he already knew. Of course, it was Yamanu. His mother could never scold him, and he already knew this. His mother didn't have the heart to scold her children, even though she knew she should.
Ahriman returned a slight flash of ivories and pinned ears to the stallion, eyes showing a glint of Orpheus's anger. As he was beginning to return his attention to the older mare, he felt the touch of the stallion returning to his body. What did his father want?! Glowering eyes stared at his father's tall stature as he commanded the colt to play. "Play..?" The young colt repeated his father's words. Why? He had no interest in playing. However, he decided it was best to go instead of listening to his parents ramble away with the older mare.
Giving an agitated glare to his father, he walked away from the group grudgingly. Play? With his.. brother? There was no way, even in hell that Ahriman would engage in 'play' with his brother Tristian. What even was play? Was that what his mother and father had been doing earlier when the other stallion showed up? Ahriman had never 'played' before, he was always on the move since the moment he could walk.
The colt began to wander away from his thoughts and the group, ears drew against his cranium, sulking. What was he supposed to do? Ears drew forward as he turned slightly to see if his brother was coming. Where was he?

Phantom was glad that Yamanu accepted her help, for he was in a pretty bad situation and the only thing that would do him any good now would to be to rest and have someone look at his leg who knew what they were doing. Instead of going up right away and helping out with that, Phantom realized that Yamanu probably wanted to spend time with his family, the old and the new.
She was so gald that Annabella had agreed to take in little Tristan. She could not have picked a better mother for him than the oddly patterned mare she was proud to call her friend. Yamanu would certainly make a fantastic father and role model for the little colt when he started to grow up. Plus, Tristan now had a brother, someone to constantly play with and keep himself occupied. That little colt could not ask for a better life than this.
In order to give the family some alone time, Phantom cleared her thoat, bringing their attention back to her. "I think I will go find Char, the owner of this land, and let her know about your arrival. I shall return within a respectable amount of time, but I cannot tell you how soon that will be. So I guess just take it easy and we will come back looking for you." Phantom said with a small smile before turning and jogging off a random direction to go look for the young Char.
_________
Tristan was estatic to meet his father. He let out w hinny and nuzzled the stallion, just as he had done to his mother. Mother, father, and brother. They really were a complete family. What more could a baby like him ask for? As much as he liked the white mare who had been looking after him, she did not hold the same comfortable kindness and love in her eyes as his family did.
The colt bounded over to his brother with a goofy grin plastered on his young face. "Tag!" he called, prodding the other colt in the side with his nose before bolting off to the right, looking over his shoulder to see if he was chasing him or not. This was going to be so much fun!
