[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#0B0000]How she managed to escape from Aro's lands, the mare didn't know, but she now found herself in a land that was also unforgivable. The dark bay mare moved through Terra Scure, oblivious to the dangers that these lands held for wandering females. Ears twitched nervously, something that had become a daily occurrence since living within Aro's lands. She didn't trust anyone within that herd, or anyone in general, because of the way the Lead had treated her. How she became so beaten and broken, she couldn't remember. The last thing she could remember was waking up within Aro's lands, surrounded by deer, each looking at her with a smirk on it's face. Minaj - was that really her name? - couldn't remember her parents - did she have any? - or anything before waking up in that clearing.
But she knew she had to get out of there. Get out of Aro's lands before she died in there. Find out who she was before coming to within those God forsaken borders. The deep bay mare stopped beside a large tree, her breath coming in rasps. She had run for most of the previous day, trying to stay hidden from Aro or anyone else who might be looking for her. Minaj hadn't run into any other horse yet, thankfully, and she didn't want to run into one now. What if they were from his herd, and dragged her back there? A snap of a branch nearby caused her to look around wildly, her heart racing, muscles twitching underneath her sweaty coat.
Little did she know, her mother was worried sick about her. But, Minaj didn't exactly know about her mother, did she? So here the little bay stood, beside the large tree, jumpy about every thing in the world. Thinking everything in the world was out to get her. |

¨ THE dark forest was silent aside from the gentle patter of small woodland creatures that scuffled along the forest floor, trying to keep their paws quiet as to not disturb the gentle silence that engulfed Scure like a blanket. This forest had always made Taren a bit wary, though he really didn't have much to worry about. He was a stallion in his prime, with endless energy and ambition to see the world for what it was worth. The only worry of wandering this forest was to run into a stallion rival to her father's herd, but even so he doubted they would even know he was. He had always kept to himself and hadn't really sought the company of others, but welcomed it when he was approached. He had never really trusted strange stallions since his mother was stolen by that devil Aro. And he had forced his spawn onto her; he couldn't forget the sight when she had fled back to Liberta with the chestnut overo colt at her side.
¨ BUT now, he was happy for his mother that she had found a new life with a nice horse, despite his previous reputation. It put his mind at ease from worry, and now his life and returned to its normal, boring routine. He had taken to starting to roam the island, often not returning to Liberta for weeks, just to taste a bit of freedom and what the rest of the island had to offer for him. It had come to his attention as well that he had no one by his side in that sense, and made him slightly lonely. Most of the mares his father brought in held little to no appeal to him, and besides - if he ever did get with one of them, they would still be his father's since he had claimed them. Sigh. As much as he loved his father, he was considering leaving and striking it out on his own.
¨ TAREN was beginning to be aware of a new scent on the air. It was a mix of a mare and fear, but no fresh scents of any other stallions was around her. His green eyes narrowed slightly at the scent of Aro mingling with her scent, and snorted. He was curious, and even though curiousity killed the cat, he had to investigate. He turned his direction to where he thought the scent was coming from, keeping his movements slow but not so that it seemed like he was trying to hide from the mare. Soon he could spot her bay form through the trees, and could tell she was spooked. Probably a run away, poor dear. He paused where he was and nickered softly to her, his head slightly lowered but ears forward. Even simply confident body language could frighten the mare. "Ma'am? Are you okay?" he called, but kept his deep tones gentle.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#0B0000]It seemed as if the young mare was already on the verge of a heart attack, with how quick her breaths moved her sides in and out. With ears tilted back against her head, the smell of a stallion swept across her resting place, and fear started to wrap it's cold fingers around her, squeezing her body tight. Tensing up, she wanted to run, but her body wouldn't let her. As Taren drew closer, Minaj tried her best to hide behind the large tree, her eye wide in terror. Heart pounding in her chest, she almost didn't hear Taren's words to her. Blinking her brown eyes, she peered from around her tree, eyes staring at the stallion who had approached. Was she alright? Besides being beaten to the point of being afraid of everything, sure, she was fine.
Flaring her nostrils as she breathed out, brown eyes glanced around the stallion, to see if anyone else was with him. Who was this stranger? Where did he come from? Did Aro send him? |
I'm fine... what do you want, her words were whispered, as still she hid behind her tree. What if Aro did send him, to drag her back to his lands so he could hurt her some more? A little bit of courage began to build up, and brown eyes narrowed at Taren. Come to drag me off back t' Aro, have yeh, she spat, stomping a hoof on the ground in anger. minaj . two hundred forty three . taking over me, evanescence . lizzeh 2011 .[/blockquote]

¨ TAREN didn't move forward as he watched the mare duck and cover for the cover of a large tree, eyes full of sincere worry and pity for the poor mare. Aro must have really fucked her up to make her act this way to another horse that she didn't even know. He raised his head slightly, peering through the trees even though he still couldn't see the mare. And then her face appeared around the corner of the tree's trunk, her eyes wide and complete terror on her face. He could only frown slightly as he looked at her, taking in her features. It was a shame such a pretty mare was brought to this.
¨ HE had to strain his ears to hear her whispered words, which were barely audible, but enough for him to understand what she had said. "Nothing, I was just passing through, and happened to find you," he replied, blinking his green eyes curiously. "You don't seem fine to me, mare. " He cocked his head slightly at her as her confidence seemed to rise, and she got very snark with her next comment. He merely snorted at her, and narrowed her eyes. "Why would I do that?" he said, not helping but to scowl at her. "I wouldn't wish him upon my worst enemy. He kidnapped my mother when I was little, leaving me to fend for myself, and raped her. You aren't the only one who has suffered because of him, dear."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#0B0000]The courage that had built up dissipated, and a small frown at upon the beaten mare's muzzle. Tilting her ears forward, she warily left the sanctuary of her tree, moving so that she was in clear view of Taren. Brown eyes stayed upon the stallion, still not sure if she should trust him or not. So, he didn't like Aro either. Letting out a sigh of relief, her body visibly relaxed, and the terror that had been gripping her moments before disappeared. |
I'm sorry... it's not every day that I can escape from his lands. I'm surprised that I've made it this far without someone chasing after me, her voice had steadied out, their rich tones dancing upon the windless air. Minaj wasn't such a bad sight, if you actually stopped to look. Yes, scars did litter some of her body, mostly her neck, muzzle, and legs from where she was bitten and kicked, but her deep mahogany coat still shimmered like she took care of herself. Finally, a gentle smile crossed her muzzle, something that hadn't graced her lips in quite a long time, and it felt foreign to her to express how happy she was to have someone who wasn't after her to talk to. I am sorry that you had to suffer because of him. I had never met a horse so evil and unloving, a shiver ran through her, and the Arabian cross shook her head quickly. Looking back to Taren, the gentle smile still sat upon her maw, obviously glad that she could talk to someone. Oh, where are my manners... I am Minaj. TAREN was surprised to see the mare emerge from the cover of her tree, the shadows of the trees casting heavy over her body. His ears pricked slightly as he watched her, curious and aprehensive. Perhaps she was beginning to trust him then, out of mutual dislike for that bastard stallion? As his forest green eyes studied her, he came to notice that she was quite the looker, despite the scars cutting across her mohagony pelt. Some of the scars on her mirrored a few on his mother; how could Aro be really that sick to abuse poor mares? He longed to reach out to comfort the poor essa, but he stayed where he was, shuffling his hooves in the dirt of the forest floor. "Don't worry about it ma'am. Its completely understandable," he said, nodding his head before turning it slightly to glance behind him, his nostrils flaring as he breathed in the air. There was no scent of Aro beside the faint trace of him on the young mare's body, so he relaxed. "Well I'm glad you got away anyhow," he said, returning the smile.
HE cocked his head slightly as she introduced herself as Minaj, and his smile broadened a bit. He dipped his head low to her before straightening again. "Nice to meet you, Miss Minaj. My name's Taren."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#0B0000]Such pleasantries were uncommon for the mare, as she usually stayed so quiet due to fear. Darkened tail swept across her hind legs, shooing away the buzzing pests that liked to land on her and try to feast. As nostril flared, Minaj kept the simple smile upon her maw, gentle eyes watching Taren closely. She was still wary to trust the young stallion before her, especially since they had just met. |
Well, Taren. It is a pleasure to meet you. You wouldn't have a safer place to talk, would you? I fear that if we stay within these lands for too long, one of Aro's cronies might come along and find me. The young mare glanced over her shoulder, feeling as if someone was watching the pair. Shaking off the feeling, the mare turned her head back to Taren, her body moving forward to stand closer to him. If he did have a place to talk that was safer than the lands of Terra Scure, he had better lead the way, and quickly. The gentle smile still played upon her lips, and she wanted to reach out to touch his shoulder, just to see if he was really there. However, Minaj withheld the gesture, as she would probably look a little crazy if she did such a thing. minaj . two hundred seventeen . hero, enrique englasias . sorry it's short, lynx. i don't have much muse for her . lizzeh 2011 .[/blockquote]

TAREN continued to smile at the young mare, his ears slihtly perked and alert for any signs of any other horses, good or bad. If Aro did come along, he would try and help defend this mare, and give the stupid brute a piece of his of his own medicine to know what it was like to suffer. He wasn't even sure how many mares he had taken by force by to his lands and what he had done to them, and he would probably prefer not getting a detailed description. The young arab shook his mane, shooing away the flies that buzzed around his ears. Pesky things.
HE looked at Minaj curiously as she asked if there was a safer place to talk. He tilted his head slightly, contemplating for a moment, before he nodded. "I do, actually. My father Lassan rules Liberta, and its pretty safe there. I can offer you refuge until you figure out where you want to go when you think it's safe enough. There are a lot of horses and places to hide, so I don't think Aro'll find you quick there. What do you say?" The stallion watched her carefully, and would easily disown his suggestion if it made her uncomfortable.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#0B0000]Nostrils of the young Arabian cross flared, as she stared at Taren, ears tilted forward. He was so different than the other horses she had come to know. He was confident, and quite proud-looking. As he spoke, she broke from her thoughts, tail swaying slowly behind her body. Your father owns a territory on the island? That is so cool! Do you inherit it when he passes away, she suddenly stopped talking, her eyes widening. She hadn't meant to sound so rude, and now she wanted to kick herself for it. Shaking her head, Minaj snorted softly. I'm sorry. I don't know who my real father is, so I wouldn't know how to handle having my father rule a land that I would live in.
A hoof scuffed the ground, and she looked down, ears flicking back slightly. The young mare felt like such a fool, one could obviously tell she wasn't used to socializing with other horses. Looking back up at Taren, a small smile tugged at her lips, and she nodded to him. If you wouldn't mind leading the way, dear Taren, I will follow you. Thank you so much for your hospitality. |

TAREN found it slightly amusing how the mare seemed to burst with questions for a few moments before she quickly became subdued again, and he chuckled. "No, my half sister is oldest, and she is already lead mare. Besides, my father already has a real mate now, and I'd assume all of those foals would have a chance before I did.." he said. He then shook his head, and his smile faltered for just a moment before he perked back up again. " But its no matter. Its not even anything special to have a sire with authority. He's just another horse. But I'm sorry about you knowing your father.." He paused, looking at the embarrassment of the young mare. He didn't mind her social-awkwardness at all, and it wasn't even that bad, anyway.
AS she smiled back up at him, he smiled back, and nodded his crown. " Alright miss Minaj. Its not too far of a walk, we should be there in under an hour." He turned away slightly back toward the general direction of Liberta. "Oh, don't mention it. Its my pleasure," he said, bobbing his head once before motioning with his tail as he headed off toward Liberta.
