The bay stallion had been living in Liberta for several months now. The land was large enough that he had not run into many herd members, but when he did he tried to be as nice as he possibly could to them. Most of them looked at him funny and just listened politely as he talked to them. He was almost sure that most of them were confused as to who he was since he just said 'hi I'm Jack' and continued to tell them about something totally unrelated. Jack, of course, did not think this was odd.
He had met the leader of the land once. He thought that he was a pretty swell fellow. Shadow had introduced the two when she brought Jack to this nice place. It was safe to say he had not had another encounter with the black Arab since then. He had spoken to a few of the ravens about it, and the only information he could gather was that the leader was busy with building alliances and keeping his herd safe as any leader should. Jack wished he had something important like that to do. Instead, he spent his days lazily grazing, getting lost in his own mind, and attempting to have conversations with slightly frightened wild animals.
Jack sighed as he lifted his head from the emerald grass. His tail flicked as his chocolate eyes scanned the area. Today he was going to find Shadow. He hadn't seen the mare in several weeks. Jack really wanted someone to talk to who didn't try to cut their conversations short. He could never figure out why other horses tried to get away from the conversations. Perhaps they just didn't know how to converse properly! Yes, that had to be it.
With his mind made up the bay turned his body around and broke off at a canter, eyes alert for Shadow's blue roan bodice. Just to make sure he would find her easily he lifted his muzzle in the air and began yelling out her name as he cantered along.
OOC: Sorry if this sucks/makes no sense. I'm tired high right now and running on sugar 8P

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=green] The blue roan he sought was lazily reclining in a large meadow to the south. She was tranquil as she lay upon her side in the warm spring sun. Each breath summoned the sweet air and the soft call of birds and the whistling breeze were all that broke the silence. It was like a little paradise in the midst of the chaos that normally plagued her.
Shadow had spent many days alone now, avoiding other herd members and even her father, that she had lost track of how long it had truly been. She was generally a nice enough horse, but company tired her rather quickly. And, now, she was alone in the peace and quiet… well, for a moment at least.
Her head shot up, a dazed expression washing over her, as she heard her name bellowed in the distance. At first, the fae was rather annoyed and debated refuting to answer the call. She could just lie here and ignore the world and its troubles. However, dealing with these troubles was her duty as heir to the Liberta throne. With a deep huff and bitter sentiments, she pulled herself up upon slender legs. And, after shaking her pelt free of debris, the pretty little mare headed off in search of whoever seemed to need her so desperately.
It did not take too long to find the voice that beckoned her, and her eyes lit up when she saw who it was. “Jack!” He was the one horse in the herd that she honestly did not mind disturbing her alone time. Jack was different from the other horses – he was the bit of amusement Shadow needed to overcome her fairly mundane side. Shadow wasn’t really certain why this was. Maybe it was because Jack didn’t have the problems or drama that Shadow had grown up hating. Don’t get it wrong, Jack definitely had some issues, but they were all so innocent and filled with a slight lunacy! He was a good thing for Shadow.
Cantering towards the stallion, the mare called out again, “Jack, over here, you fool!”

The bay's head shot up as he saw Shadow cantering towards him. He was glad to have a friend like her. Shadow was the one who originally found him all alone on this island. She was the only one who actually stopped to talk to him for more than a few minutes. Shadow had been the only horse to invite him to their herd. Oh yes, Jack had met other herd leaders before but they merely said a few words to him and went on their way. In Jack's eyes Shadow was something special. She was a horse who could understand what others could not. Jack, of course, did not know he was not right in the head, but he had a feeling he was different. Other horses had come up with some other very creative words when describing him, but the ones Jack liked best were unique and special. Any horse who could befriend someone as unique and special as Jack immediately wormed their way into Jack's heart. He would do anything for Shadow.
"Shadow!" he called out again as he came to a sliding halt to avoid colliding with the lead mare. As his motions came to a halt, Jack swished his tail in circles to try and balance himself. Sliding stops were never something that Jack had perfected. "I was bored and I wanted to come find you." he explained to the mare with a smile. "The other horses. Haven't seen many of them. I know they are here, but they never show their faces much do they? What queer little things!"
Jack had been in this herd for quite some time now. He knew Liberta to be one of the largest herds on the island, but apart from brief herd meetings he never saw many of the other members. It was very strange. Where could they all be hiding? Yes, the land was large, but it was not big enough to not see at least one horse out of the entire herd. Half the time the stallion believed that he did not see them because they did not want to see him. He could never fully understand why other horses liked to avoid him. He wasn't mean, he was not exactly what one could call shy or quiet, and he always tried to converse with them. Horses on this island were very, very strange. Shadow was the closest thing to normal that Jack had met.
Off in the distance a couple of ravens started to bicker over a dead rabbit. Jack tilted his head to a very odd degree as he watched them. "Those black birds are strange. They are friends with death. How can that be?" he mused as they began to tear apart the rabbit. "Black birds are normally an omen. I think. I can't be sure, but I remember someone telling me that once. My mother? No, I don't know, all I know is they are omens. Here though they don't seem to bring anyone or anything harm do they? I think I am starting to like one." he informed Shadow. "One came and talked to me yesterday. I was surprised that a black bird would want to talk to a horse. It didn't bother me though, we had a right good conversation. I hope he comes to visit again." Most of the time Jack spoke in very odd ways. Sometimes what he said wasn't related to the next thing, but, when it was related, it was a very interesting conversation.
"I told..." Jack started before he got distracted by a butterfly in front of his face. He crossed his eyes and watched it flutter about before it went back to a patch of wildflowers. Jack turned his body to watch it. He really wanted to chase the creature, but he figured Shadow would not want to go chase the butterfly with him. The stallion sighed and turned back to his leader. "And Shadow what have you been doing?" he asked her, curious as to what his friend had been up to theses past few weeks. Bless her soul for putting up with a horse like Jack. He expected her to answer and when she did what the stallion had to say in response might not ever be relavant to Shadow's answer. In Jack's eyes Shadow was an amazing, flawless mare.

Shadow's special friend was a sight for sore eyes, and she still could not help but find herself flooded with relief that it was he who had called for her. The mare just wasn't one for the dramas of the normal equines of her herd. The mostly fantasized situations and warped way of thought that came with Jack, though, that was another thing entirely. His qualms never seemed quite so petty in Shadow's eyes, even if they were the entirely fictitious scenarios of a paranoid mind.
A small amount of dust and debris clouded the air as her counterpart came to a halt before her, and she was fortunate he had managed to stop at all. The dust that had traveled into the air began to tickle at her nostrils, and she found her snout twitching as he spoke. When it came time to reply all that could come from her was a series of sneezes. Damn debris. By the time she had stopped and could finally respond, the energetic brute had moved on to another topic - the birds of the isle.
Her ears twitched as she awaited a pause in his speech. Eventually, distraction peered it's head in the form of a butterfly, and she could not help but laugh at the stallion's interest in the small creature. She had time to feel like a child again around Jack - something she had been deprived of when her mother left her and her father at such an early age. He was just what the doctor ordered - enough to take the edge off her past.
"Yes, Jack, the black birds mean no harm to us. In fact, they are allies of our herd, you see? Them and the Rocas herd both are our allies," she explained. Suddenly, his distraction and her window of speech disappeared, but soon enough another oppurtunity came as his next words were of query.
"Nothing at all - in fact, I was quite glad that you came along to relieve my boredom, Jack!" Pausing, the mare thought back on his previous words. Shadow often felt bad for Jack's situation. Here she was, loathing spending any time with her herdmates when he would be thrilled for another horse to give him the time of day. She knew he was a handful, but perhaps, that was why she liked him so much. He just wasn't what you encountered everyday on Isola Dei Dei, or at least, nothing likely what she had ever encountered before.
"Come, Jack, would you like to race?" the mare pranced in place before pointing her snout at a group of trees in the distance. "A race to those trees? I think there is something you might like there."

Jack stood there with a goofy looking smile on his face as Shadow continuously sneezed. Because of her constant sneezing and all the dust now clouding up the warm air, Jack began to sneeze in a violent fit as well. The bay stopped after a few sneezes but Shadow continued on. Jack could not wait a second for her to quit before he started to talk about the birds. The birds were the thing on his constantly active and wandering mind. He just had to let Shadow know what was going on in his mind. Every time she was there he blabbered away, just thankful that he had someone to call a friend, someone who would listen to him when he had things to say, no matter how unimportant.
Shadow's voice caused Jack to tear his eyes away from the frantic butterfly as she started to say something in reply to his little monologue on the ravens. The mare informed him that these black birds were friends to the herd. This little fact caused him to break into a grin. "Really? Imagine that, birds being friends to a herd of horses. I've never heard of anything as pleasantly ridiculous as that before now. No wonder they are so friendly to the horses here. We're their friends!" Whats Shadow had told him seemed to brighten up Jack's rather dismal day.
The mare had also mentioned something about the Terra de Rocas herd being one of this herd's allies. "I feel like I've herd that herd name somewhere but I don't know where. I don't even think I know where Rocas is. Where is it? Wait don't tell me. I won't know anyway. I only stay here. It might be nice to get out once in awhile. Shadow! You should take me there sometime! I'd love to see it!" Jack exclaimed as he continued to mostly say his thoughts aloud.
"You were bored too? I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one around here who gets bored. I can never find any other herd members here to talk to. Maybe they just don't want to talk to me." Jack said as he hung his head a bit. It really did seem like the rest of the herd did not care much about him, or wanted to even try to get to care a bit about him. Once in a great while he would find a horse, but they always said they could not stay for long because they had some other place to be or something else to do.
The stallion's ears perked and his eyes brightened as Shadow asked him if he wanted to race her. "Do I?! Of course!" he exclaimed, a beaming smile now on his dynamic face. The stallion turned to the trees and scooted next to Shadow so that they were standing pretty evenly. "Ready? Three... two... one.... go!" he yelled as he did a jump-start before taking off toward the grove of trees that Shadow suggested racing to.
