The sound of thundering hoof beats shattered the silence of the battle grounds. Birds that rested among the dry brush were startled into flight. A stallion galloped onto the barren landscape. He slid to a halt and panted slightly from the effort of the ground eating gallop all the way here from where He and Haze had rested for the night. They had found each other under odd circumstances, fallen in love and were willing to fight for a place to call home. Misery had seen a land that was very lush and welcoming, but strangely empty. He and his mare had ventured inwards to see the forest of ancient pines and quietly ventured into it. They came to a red rock cliff and saw the ocean stretched out before them. He had told her he wanted this to be their home...and home for their children's children if she wanted them. They had rested at the top of the cliff that night and then he had come straight here at first light.
The Demon rose to the surface when Misery called and the ebony and teal stallion trumpeted a challenge. He pulled himself into a rear, blue flame-coated legs pawing at the air. "Taj, lord of Bello Tramonto, I, Demon of Misery, challenge you for your land! Come and defend what you hold dear!" He settled back on to all fours, eyes flashing wickedly. He paced over to a sharp edged rock and began running his front hooves across it, sharpening them to a lethal edge.

Jimmy had been wandering aimlessly since he had bred Sorrows, the stranger mare he had stumbled upon in Allevare Mettano. He wanted to find Desdemona and speak with her again, but she was no where to be found. Suddenly, however, he stumbled upon the battle grounds. He stood to watch a stallion stake his claim and challenge another stallion. Taj. Jimmy had known the pale stallion for a short time before he dissapeared in the winter and hadn't shown himself since. Jimmy pinned his ears and walked towards the fight-hungry stallion nonchalantly. Taj hasn't been seen since the depth of winter. He halted a few respectful feet before him and smirked. You're just wasting your time pal. The black and white stallion channeled out the smell of stagant blood and rotting corpses as he remained calm amongst it all.
