A saddening breeze sweeped through the willow trees, causing the leaves to stir, the branches to sway as they reached down for the Earth. The white form of Marut wandered through the trees, quite blindly, the loss of Tuula still fresh within in. It was as if someone had stuck a finger into a healing wound, twisted it around, and yanked it out. Brown eyes stayed unfocused, although the wind seemed to guide the stallion around obstacles. Dancing upon his head, the Era's ears looked as if they could fly off at any second, their swiveling and tilting to listen for any approaching horse.
It wasn't as if Marut cared. His world was shattered, his heart was broken, and he lay in ruins. The once leader of the Era had handed the reins over to Bolin, just so he could go out and reflect on where everything went wrong. Nostrils quivered, and suddenly Marut snapped out of his little trance, noticing a small cave before him. Tilting his head, the stallion breathed out, and then shook his head. It was so much like the cave that Tuula and Marut first spent time in together, back when she was running from Orpheus and Hannibal.
But it wasn't the same cave. That cave was under the plateau back in the Era homelands. Snorting softly, Marut entered the cave, looking around at the walls. It was a small cave, big enough for at least three horses, and it'd do for Marut for now. He didn't want to go back home right now, this would be his temporary home. Turning around, the stallion went to the entrance of his cave, brown eyes looking around at the many willow trees that created the forest.
It sure was pretty here, too bad that he couldn't share it with Tuula. Frowning, he wondered if Hannibal and Tuula were back in Felwood, happy as ever, while he was here in Cascata, sulking and being sad. Eyes narrowed, and he stomped a hoof, the wind whipping around him violently. Hannibal hadn't won. He would never win against the full blooded Era. marut [teal] . three fourty nine . perfect, simple plan . open to anyone, but hoping for sibby . (c) lizzeh 2011 .

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=black]Emotions surged through the speckled ivory as she fled Hannibal once again. Tuula had no clear direction or destination as she ran – all she wanted to do was get far, far away from the brute. The mare had forgiven him and he repayed her with what he surely thought to be sneaky betrayal. She wasn’t going to let him have his cake and eat it too. The cocky little bastard would have what was coming to him when he dismounted to find that she hadn’t waited around for him. Instead, she would be long gone, and it was only now that she began to wonder how far she had truly gone and where she was ending up. She had merely followed the wind’s trail without suspicion until this point.
Footfalls became softer as she slowed her pace but the wind urged her to continue forward. The trees were growing closer together as she progressed through Cascata and the roar of the waterfall drowned out all other noise. The wind had stopped just short of a small cave in the unclaimed territory. A quiet sigh escaped her kissers at sight of the refuge – it would be a place to stay for the night at the very least. Her old bones couldn’t take the travel like they used to. The closer she got, the more something became aware to her. A scent within the cave, eyes fled from their downward cast into the small cavern and her heart shattered. Within the hovel stood her former mate, and a stallion she did love, Marut. She had left the stallion for that devil and she knew it had hurt his heart. She had never planned to return into his life even after her departure from Felwood. This seemed like cruel fate.
She could not be sorry for what she had said to him other than the fact that he had taken it so harshly. It was all true. She did love Hannibal in a way she could not Marut. The two of them belonged together, whether that came to fruition or not. But, dear Marut, he did have a special place in her heart. He provided her with comfort, security, and more respect than Hannibal ever could have. He was a good stallion and had she not been so warped, had never gotten entangled with Hannibal, they would have been beautiful together. A sad whinny escaped the mare’s kissers as two-toned gaze stared at the white brute. She remembered his words and his rage and just hoped that if he sought her dead he did it quick. Her heart couldn’t handle much more of this life’s tortures.

A gentle breeze wrapped around the stallion, which usually happened when Tuula was near. Tilting forward on top of his head, his ears caught her whinny, and he looked to her, the anger that had been there back in Avvoglere gone. Flaring his nostrils, his body tense up though.
[/font] What do you want,[/font] he asked bitterly, turning his eyes away from her and looking to the skies. Had she come to torture his already broken heart? And why was she here without Hannibal? Nostrils quivered again, and he looked at her once more, confusion settling across his features. Where was Hannibal?
Had she left his side because something happened already? Marut could have predicted that, especially from the painted monster. Ears tilted back, and he wanted to laugh. Tuula was a smart mare, she had been hurt in the past, she knew that Hannibal would hurt her again, and yet... she had chosen him over Marut. And now, here was his former mate, standing before him, without the painted hellion in sight.[/font] I take it your lover boy is off doing what he's known best to do, hm,[/font] the taunting voice that escaped the white stallion wasn't even his, and as the words flowed from his mouth, he was quite surprised he had said them. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=black]"The wind led me here," was her simple explanation. She hadn't come looking for Marut and with each passing moment she came to despise the gales for betraying her. Why had they brought her here? To remind her of the pain she'd inflicted upon Marut, to cause her to suffer all the more at the hands of his malicious tongue, why? The mare's breaths were strained as she watched the brute, ears flicking further back with each passing word from the ivory's lips.
"Do you really hate me that much? I know I hurt you, but I came to you on Avvolgere because I didn't want to be malicious. I wanted you to know that I do love you, and I wanted you to be able to move on and find the happiness I thought I had found. But, you just want to hurt me now, don't you?" Shaking her crown, the mare began to turn away from the cave and the stallion. "Good bye, Marut. I am sorry that you were hurt, and believe it or not, I care... a lot." Tuula wasn't mad at the stallion, but his words had hurt. Maybe she had been wrong, so very wrong, to choose Hannibal, but she had followed her heart and hurt others in the process. She never meant to be so cruel - it wasn't in the speckled ivory to harness such dark will. She just wanted to be happy and at peace. "But, in the end, I guess we all get what is coming to us," she mused quietly.

His muscles tightened underneath his ivory coat, and the wind wrapped around him, then danced along, circling Tuula a few times. Huffing slightly at her words, the stallion moved from the sanctuary of the cavern behind him, to Tuula's side, his ears tilted back ever so slightly. Placing a gentle touch upon her shoulder, to try to get her to stop from leaving, the Era breathed in deeply.
[/font] Where did we go wrong, my love? I don't understand what drove us apart. Was I just a damned fool to have fallen for you,[/font] the words spilled from the stallion's lips, as he watched his former mate, unsure of what he was doing. For once in his life, he hesitated to continue, to keep her from leaving. If he truly wanted her to leave, why was he standing here, his body so close to hers, wanting her to at least stay and talk?
Ears tilted forward upon his head, his eyes staring at her, a curious glimmer to them.[/font] I ...[/font] his voice faltered, and he looked away from the mare, breathing out slowly. Of course, there were so many things he could say to Tuula, but none of them wanted to surface. Ears tilted back against his skull, and he looked back to the one he had given his heart to. Flaring his nostrils, the stallion stepped away from her, not knowing if she wanted him so close or not. If you want to leave, Tuula, instead of talking, go ahead and go. I understand that Hannibal has your heart more, and I understand the bond you two share. I accept your choice, and I hope you live the rest of your life in a happiness that we shared.[/color] Shaking his head ever so slightly, Marut kept his eyes trained upon the Era mare, his tail swaying gently behind his ivory body. A fly decided to land upon his shoulder, and a snort escaped him, the fly buzzing in frustration and soaring off away from the pair. The once Era leader's shoulder twitched, as an uneasiness swept over him that he couldn't explain.[/color][/blockquote] marut [teal] . two fifty one one . since you've been gone, a day to remember . -- . Him and her, life is turned.
Tuula looked to her former lover as he approached. Her body and instincts would have told her to go tense and fear that there might be fury from his approach - a fury like what she had seen upon the Era homelands. Yet, now she did not ready herself as her body felt numb but her emotions all too raw. There was an odd and unexpected comfort warming her soul at the brute's touch. Marut was a dear soul; she had abandoned him and he still called her back. Was he calling her back? Did he really not wish to banish away the elder mare.
As he spoke her heart was torn into pieces, each morsel hurting as much as the other. She loved Marut and she loved Hannibal. But, Hannibal was not here was he? He was betraying her. Marut, the very stallion she had left for the bastard, was here. And, she did not ever expect that things would be the way they had been between her and the great Era, but it warmed her heart to have at least one friend upon this cursed island.
The mare move to place her muzzle against his cheek. "If you will have my company, I'm not ready to leave just yet." Tuula removed her maw from his flesh and backed away from his form a few paces. Her mind tried to grasp something to say, anything to say next. There was so much that could be said, but every one left her stomach to churn. Truth be told, she still did love Hannibal more than she would anyone. Her heart just could not belong to another and it sickened her. what made her heart happiest also made it shatter and ache. "My life with Hannibal will never be truly happy, even if I do love him," she murmured quietly, unable to look the stag in the eyes. "I wish you had never had to fall for me, that I had never pulled you into this. I should have known better, and I care too deeply for you to think it was ever a good choice. You could have been so much happier with another mare." Shaking her crown, her two-toned gaze finally caught his. "At the same time, the selfish mare that I am, I am fortunate for what time I had with you. You are the one true friend I have, Marut."
Can you hear me scream?

An ear flicked lazily upon the stallion's head, as if dismissing the words that the elder mare spoke. That small, gentle smile all too familiar with Marut finally appeared, and he reached forward, placing his muzzle upon her cheek. A gentle wuffle escaped him, and as he pulled his maw away, another warm breeze swam around them, dipping between the two, playing with their manes and tails.
[/font] Life is just too complicated for us to understand, my dear. No one can predict what will happen to us, well... you know what I mean,[/font] of course, she would know what he was saying. Besides those who could for-tell the future, no one could know what would happen. Breathing in deeply, the ivory stallion looked to the trees around them, their bowing branches waving in the gentle breeze that now played in between the leaves.Let's take a walk, Tuula-dear. We can talk then, or we can stay silent, and let the wind tell our thoughts, Marut turned away from Tuula, ready to walk through the willows that made up the forest. There were many things plaguing his mind, and he needed to talk or else he was going to explode.[/blockquote] marut [teal] . one ninety eight . not alone, saosin . -- . (c) lizzeh 2011 . The way we are, the way we were.
As the wind danced around the couple, the mare's eyes closed and a smile stretched across her lips. It was good to have the returning comfort of the playful gales. And, it was better to be in the company of Marut; he had always been a being of sanctuary in her chaotic life. He instilled her with a calmness that no other ever could. As he spoke, her lids quietly opened and a quiet sigh left the speckled ivory. Why did life have to be so complicated? Did everyone go through such strife? She couldn't see how horse-kind had survived and thrived for so long if they all did.
The mare didn't want to talk about Hannibal or the past right now but could tell that something was on her counterpart's mind. In spite of her fear that what he had to say might ruin the calmness in her the mare agreed to his request with a nod. She began to walk at his side as her gaze idly viewed the willows that towered around the duo. This place was such a peaceful place and her concerns were of nothing but this very moment with Marut. She urged the wind to caress the stallion in a comforting yet urging manner. She wanted him to say what was on his mind but her own words just could not come out.
Can you hear me scream?

An unsettling silence fell over the ivory Era, as he moved along side his former mate, his tail swaying slowly behind him. Eyes concentrated on the path ahead, the small leaves of the willow trees brushing over his hide gently, the wind playing with his mane and blowing his forelock over his eyes. Tilting his ears back, then forward, the stallion finally took a deep breath in.
[/font] I am not going to keep ranting on and on about how Hannibal is. We've been down that road too many times before, and it's getting a bit repetitive. However, I am going to talk about your son, Bolin. I have handed the Era lands over to him and Anemone, to follow in our hoofsteps so that our kind doesn't die out. I do believe he will be able to keep it alive for as long as possible, as long as dear Fusion carries on the bloodline as well. Breathing out, the stallion turned to look at the mare beside him, ears tilted toward her. Gentle eyes looked concerned, and he slapped his tail across his hindquarters.[/color] But, that is besides the point. I am worried about what all this has done to Bolin's poor mind. Obviously something is wrong with him, you saw how torn he was when you and Hannibal had entered the lands. I think this is going to either shut him down completely, or he's going to lose himself and become what Orpheus has become. I don't want him to turn down the dark paths in life, you should talk to him before you go back to Felwood and stay with Hannibal. Make it clear that you're always there for him, that you aren't entirely leaving him, the stallion expressed his concern for the oldest of Tuula's many children, and his ears flicked back. Another worry came to mind, and he breathed in. And what are we to do with Haize? Would you like for her to stay within Avvolegere with Bolin and the herd, or do you want her to stay within Felwood? The choice is up to you, I will go with whatever you decide. The sounds of birds and the wind reached the ivory stallion's ears, and he snorted softly, eyes turning away from his companion to where the wind was whispering through the trees above. Despite the noises, the Era continued on through the willows.[/blockquote] marut [teal] . three hundred ninety eight . hyrule field at night, legend of zelda . -- . (c) lizzeh 2011 . Despite the rage that Tuula knew Bolin harnessed towards her recent betrayal, there was an overwhelming sensation of pride as Marut spoke of her son taking on the Era throne. He, by blood and nature, was the rightful heir. And, yet, the elation did not last - leaving her heart to sink as her former mate spoke of her son's most recent condition. It tore her heart to shreds to know that he could become what Orpheus had, that he might become what Hannibal, too, was on his darker days. She knew before Marut spoke the words that something must be done to make it right. She didn't know that she could ever repair the shambles her family had fallen into, but she had to try something lest she should have to bare such burdens eternally.
The mare currently hadn't the intention of returning to Felwood and Hannibal, but she didn't speak such words to Marut. She, also, knew that she would not be living in Avvolgere either. There wasn't a place for her, as the circumstance had been long before meeting Hannibal. With a labored sigh, her gaze turned to her counterpart. "I will talk to him, not for the sake of forgiveness. What I have put my family through is unforgivable... but, I will talk to him for the thin hope that his dark blood does not overcome him."
Her tail slapped casually at her flank as the white stallion mentioned their only child - their only child, it was something she regretted, having but one foal of Marut's. Haize, while still a light at heart, was falling into a trap so similar to Tuula's own. The wind spoke of her falling for, nay, obsessing over a creature of the dark. Tuula saw a glimmer of hope, hope that she might be redeemed if she could just save her daughter from falling into the same trap. "Those lands are no good for her - she'd be better suited in Avvolgere." The elder knew her daughter would not be able to forgive her for the decision, but she felt it to be a necessity. She couldn't let her make that mistake, for she knew the road that came with it. The speckled acknowledged one certainly dismal thing about her choice; she would be forced to return to Felwood if only for one last time. Hope for her daughter's future and possible repentance to the ethereal forces for her crimes seemed worth it.

Nodding ever so slightly at the mare beside him, Marut began to get lost in his own thoughts. It happened now and then, when everything around him seemed to go quiet and he was left to the simple strings of thoughts running through his mind. Shaking his head quickly, he focused his attention back onto Tuula. You should really get Haize from Felwood first, and then come back to talk to Bolin. Saving her from the darkness is more important at the moment,
[/font] he bit his lip slightly. He didn't mean it like it had sounded. Of course, Bolin was important, but he wasn't as susceptible to following the darkened paths as Haize was.
As they passed under a particularly large willow tree, Marut breathed in deeply, finally able to be at ease. Blinking a few times, he turned to look back at his former mate, tail swaying gently behind him. Would you like to go now and get her from Felwood? I don't think Hannibal will mind too much if I come to get her with you.[/color][/blockquote] marut [teal] . one hundred seventy seven . hear me now ; framing hanley . xxx . (c) lizzeh 2011 . [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | | [bg=#000000] A few moments of thought left the speckled ivory uneasy with Marut's words. Haize and Bolin both held an important role in her life - they were equally loved as he children. Was his choice due to the fact that Haize was of his own flesh and blood? Mulling over the thoughts, she came to a more acceptable conclusion. Haize, although of genteel nature, was naive and young - she was far more likely to fall under the grasps of darkness than Bolin. There would be time for both children, or so fate deceived her to believe. Dwelling no further on the topic, ears perked upon the ivory stag's most recent proclamation. How would Hannibal take to Marut's company? Did she even care? Decidedly, she did not.
Shifting position beneath the great willows, Tuula chose a path that would lead her back to Felwood. "I see no moment more opportune than this one," she whispered, nudging gently against her former's neck to summon whatever courage could be managed. She dreaded this return more than could be uttered, but what must be done for the salvation of the remaining good in her family... must be done.
