Aithne allowed them the silence, perfectly content with just walking quietly along with company. The birdsong that filled the air was calming, her golden eyes wandering to watch a few finches bouncing back and fourth on the trees. The sunlight streamed through the branches, lighting up the forest floor with random streams of golden color and warming her pelt quite comfortably. But soon a looming feeling came to the air, and the mare glanced sideways at her companion, her ears flicking nervously on her crest. She watched as he went ahead, and soon picked up her pace after him, her nostrils flaring with the heavy stench of blood mixed with the thickness in the air. Her heart picked up extra beats. Could there be another victim of the Zuden herd?
Aithne's eyes widened slightly in horror at the white horse on the ground, blood coloring its flesh. She pinned her ears and stopped where she was, snorting loudly. It would be best she didn't go near this Hielo, and it being an injured one only would make it worse. Being around it made her nervous, shuffling on her feet. "It's a Hielo, an ice horse," she told Revenant softly. "Be careful, and don't do anything stupid, or you'll be a giant iceblock in seconds." She looked at the Hielo carefully, flicking her tail.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#D6D7D6]The brilliant sky blue eyes of the Hielo looked up to Aithne as she spoke, and the injured mare's sides heaved as she coughed. Ears flicked on top of her head, and the mare flared her nostrils. |
Aye, I am a Hielo. The only remaining one. Aiden made sure to it that the rest were wiped out. One of his scouts maanged to find me in my seclusion, and attacked. I'm very surprised you're not finishing me off, with you being a Zunden and all, the mare spoke with haste, small trickles of blood flowing from the deep gash across her neck. Revenant shifted uneasily, pulling his head away from the injured mare, glancing at Aithne with a small bit of worry creeping into his golden-green eyes. What... what do we do? We can't just leave her here - I can't move. My injuries are too great for me to move from under this tree. The Heilos die upon this island with me, never to live again. Unless... the mare's words drifted off, as she looked to Revenant, her sky blue eyes widening slightly.
However, after a moment of silence, the mare shook her head. What? Unless what?! Why are you looking at me like that, of course, Revenant had began to grow uneasy as the Heilo had been staring at him. What if she turned him into an ice cube, like Aithne said the injured mare could? Flicking his ears back ever so slightly, he began to worry that this was leading up to that. Oh, calm yourself, young one. I was merely going to suggest turning one of you into a Hielo so that they don't die out. You see, unlike the other elementals, the Hielo mostly survive because we turn mortal horses or other elemental horses into a Hielo. I don't know if your Zunden friend here would care if her powers were taken away, but since you're nothing more than a mortal horse, you would be the better candidate. The injured Hielo coughed, a small amount of blood coming from her mouth, and the mare sighed. Her body quivered faintly, as more blood leaked from her wounds, staining the grass around her. The air surrounding the three horses warmed up a little, as the life slowly seeped from the dying Hielo. Revenant looked to Aithne, unsure of what they were to do. Should... should I do it? Revenant was hesitant. He didn't know if he wanted to help the dying mare, by becoming an elemental horse. Aithne pinned her ears as she looked down at the fallen mare, golden eyes watching her carefully as she spoke. She gave a slight snort at her, annoyed that she didn't realize who she was. "I'm not apart of Aiden's herd anymore," she all but snapped, before she let out a soft sigh, calming herself. The mare was dying, and all she was worried about was the mare mistaking her? She met Rev's gaze as he looked to her, and she shook her head sadly. Her eyes wandered back to the fallen Hielo, remaining quiet as Rev and the mare exchanged words. She admittedly felt bad for the poor the Hielo for what her kind did to her. She would have to end them all, and soon.
Aithne's ears pricked as the mare mentioned changing one of them into a Hielo. Her eyes moved to Revenant, drawing closer to him as she examined the dying equine at their feet. She looked back at him, and slowly shook her head. "If its what you want to do, then do it," she replied, "But it will be a big responsibility. I can help you through it, since I have powers myself, but it is your decision." She looked to the dying Hielo again, watching her as the blood continued seeping from her wounds.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#D6D7D6]Still, as the brilliant sky blue eyes of the Hielo looked up at Revenant, the gray stallion fidgeted. It was such a life changing decision. Ears danced atop the Andalusian's head, and he breathed in deeply. If he just walked away now, let this elemental mare die, then he could continue on with his wandering, and continue a mortal life. But if he accepted this white mare's offer, and became an elemental horse himself, what would the future hold for him? He could turn other hores into Hielos, to make sure the race survived upon this weird island, and possibly do great things.
Sighing, the stallion finally reached his decision. |
Fine. I shall take you up on your offer. After all, it's to save the Hielos, the stallion's voice was hesitant, but he seemed firm in his decision. Flicking his tail behind him, golden-green eyes watched as the injured mare before him allowed a small smile to cross her muzzle. I... I thank you, stranger. You do not know how much this means to me, the white mare shifted slightly, and managed to push her injured body off the grass, revealing just how much blood she had lost. The white hairs on the other side of her body were stained red, a deeper gash upon her side than the one on her neck. This is as much movement I can do, it's all that is needed for this transfer of my powers, the mare grimaced in pain, as she took a single step forward, reaching out with her muzzle to touch Revenant's shoulder gently. The air around the two horses dove in temperature, as the mare closed her eyes. A few words were mumbled under her breath, and Revenant flicked his ears back slightly, golden-green eyes going to Aithne, still a bit unsure about this. Suddenly, the stallion felt an unusual coldness sweep through him, as if the mare had frozen his veins solid. As the mare pulled her muzzle away, the coldness, both within him and around the two, disappeared. The once Hielo's legs buckled underneath her, and she collapsed to the ground, her breathing ragged.
Revenant could sense the change, not only to himself, but to the mare lying upon the grass before him. Her blue eyes had lost their brilliant coloring, turning a faint gray, and the whiteness of her coat had dulled. As with any elemental horse, any powers you use, you have to concentrate and believe in yourself. Please, do not let our race die. You must continue on the Hielos, bring them back to the island and stop the Zunden. The mare's voice trailed off, and the life finally disappeared from within the horse. Revenant's ears tilted back, and he breathed out, his breath rising in an unusual cloud before him. Looking to Aithne, he frowned, and blinked his eyes. What shall we do with her body? We can't just leave it here for buzzards to eat, Revenant spoke softly, a small mist rising in front of him as he did. Small beads of sweat formed upon the stallion's neck, and he snorted. We should bury her. And then, I need to go rest in that pool. It's getting unbearably hot out. five thirty four * revenant * just the way you are, bruno mars * holy jeez * speech: peru, normal: 404d58 * [c] lizzeh 2011 * [/blockquote]

Aithne couldn't possibly imagine what to expect of this situation. It saddened her that she couldn't have stopped the Zuden from doing this to the poor Hielo. She was vaguely surprised when Revenant agreed, her eyes widening as she looked to him, her ears pricking forward. She watched as the white mare managed to heave herself to her feet, Aithne wincing as her movement revealed an even deeper wound on her other side.
Aithne gave a soft snort of discomfort as the air suddenly dropped as soon as the mare touched Rev's shoulder, and the Zuden immediately backed off from his side, her ears pinned and eyes watchful for any signs that the Hielo was hurting her new friend. She met his gaze, her eyes full of concern, but her eyes went to the Hielo as she suddenly collapsed. She then hurried to Revenant's side, despite the sudden urge to stay away from him that washed over to her. She lowered her head to the dying mare, a soft sigh escaping her as she finally passed, before looking back up at the stallion beside her. She nodded, before raising her head once more. "That's up to you to do," she said, "Feel the power in you, and bend it to your desires." She blinked at him, motioning with her head.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#D6D7D6]Suddenly, the off-white stallion turned away from the corpse, and flicked his ears back against his skull. As he took a few steps away, the looked to Aithne, and flared his nostrils. |
Torch her body. It'll take too long for a burial, and if the Zunden come looking for her, they will think that one of their own finished her off, his voice was sad, as he took one last glance at the fallen Hielo, then turned and headed through the willow trees. His tail flicked slowly behind his body, his mind lost in thought, as he wondered what kind of powers the mare had given him. Shaking his head slightly, the stallion breathed out, another small mist cloud rising in front of him in the heated air.
He hadn't realized it, but it was much warmer now, than it had been when he was 'normal'. Flaring his nostrils, the newly created Hielo found himself at the pond's edge. As he lowered his head to take a drink, he let out a small gasp. There were now light blue and silvery markings along his face, small swirly lines from the bottom of his eyes to near his nostrils. Three bright blue dots lay underneath those, with light blue markings wrapping around his neck. Pulling his head from the water, the stallion flicked his ears, and then looked again. The markings were still there, and as he looked more closely, he could see more markings wandering along his neck.
Shaking his head, he noticed he had a small snowflake, the color of the midday sky, sitting on his shoulder, right underneath where his mane rested. Did the mare give him these markings when she had given him her powers? Blinking a few times, he finally shrugged. It didn't matter, it actually looked pretty good. Smiling slightly, the stallion entered the water, but stood still as the water touched his skin. Watching as the water rippled, he concentrated hard on the water's surface, wanting to freeze it. Instead, all that happened, as small ice shards appeared and fell into the water, instantly melting in the heat.
Snorting, Revenant became a little discouraged, knowing he would probably never master this new element of his. three sixty eight * revenant * savior, rise against * omnom * speech: peru, normal: 404d58 * [c] lizzeh 2011 * [/blockquote]

Aithne blinked in slight surprise at the stallion's sudden change in attitude, and her expression tightened as she gazed at him, her ears turning back on her crest. So who did he think he could tell her what to do? She looked after him grimly as he walked off, before giving a small huff. "She was of your breed, silly colt," she muttered as she turned back toward the fallen Hielo. She studied the dead mare with solemn eyes, her head low. It felt wrong of her to be intruding on her deathbed, or yet, to provide a bit of a funeral service when it should be Revenant's job to do it. She sniffed at the bloodied body carefully, snorting when she smelled no other trace of ice on her pelt. Shaking her head slowly, she then parted her jaw and blew gently onto the mare, blue flame leaping from her maw to where it quickly caught the carcass on fire. She backed up and watched as the fire quickly spread, and she turned her face away, a sick feeling in her gut as the smell of burning flesh stirred the spring air. She glanced up at the caws of the crows as they landed in the trees above her, watching the body burn and the Zuden beside it. She let out a breath before turning away, walking through the curtains of willow branches.
Still irritated with Revenant, she debated on whether or not to go after him, since it was obvious where he had went off to. She listened to the sounds of the stallion wading through the churning pool, pausing to look through the branches at the white brute. Her ears perked forward briefly before they went back again, and she gave a slight snort as she turned to move on, flicking her whipcord along her haunches as she went. Perhaps she would take a visit to some of her allies. Their ties were uneasy, so she would need to gain their trust more. Already in her head she began calculating war plans once more as she continued to push through the trees.
