[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#D6D7D6]The sounds of the forest around him caused his ears to flick forward, as the ghostly figure of an Andalusian walked through the low branches of the willow trees. Pale tresses hung loosely over the stallion's golden eyes, as they danced to the surroundings, taking in the bright greens and the browns of the trees, of the grass, and everything else. Ears caught the sounds of the birds that inhabited the area, the sound of the waterfall not far off, and of his own hooves upon the grass.
Revenant didn't know if he enjoyed the leisurely stroll he was taking through Cascata, or if he was just merely passing through. Tail slapped against his light gray hide, shooing away the flies that had rested there for a brief moment, trying to make a meal of him on the fly. |
I am not dinner, you damned things, the stallion's voice was a soft hiss, as if a snake had spoken instead of a horse. Moving onward through the trees, Revenant took to being alone quite well for now. Despite the heat of the day, which was getting to be a bit unbearable with summer right around the corner, the Andalusian was quite comfortable in the shade of the willow he had paused under.
Golden-green eyes drifted to the waterfall he had been journeying to, not on purpose, as his hooves just took him wherever since he hit the island's beaches a few weeks ago. All remnants of his captive life had disappeared, and the wildness horses usually got when on their own was starting to set in. He knew he had to find food and water himself, as there were no humans to do such things for him here. Flicking his tail behind him again, the stallion set off toward the source of water nearby, stopping at it's banks and lowering his head. Drinking slowly, his eyes watched the fish swimming around and around, as if not realizing they could escape by the small creek flowing away from the pool the waterfall fell into. Flicking his ears, he watched as one of the fish tried to jump up the waterfall, but fail and fall back down into the water below. Chuckling under his breath, the stallion waded into the waters, taking a deep breath as the coolness startled him slightly.
He hadn't expected such cold water, with the air being so hot and humid. But, things surprised the horse every day. Like how he hadn't run into another equine on the island. How was it that he could smell them, but he couldn't see them? Was this island so huge that horses didn't run into each other unless they wanted to? Flicking his ears at his inquiries, Revenant soaked himself in the waters of the pool, his tail floating in strands around him. He would be lazy today, just so he didn't have to wander around, running into no one, and doing nothing. Perhaps, if he just stayed here, someone would stumble upon this young stallion. five hundred three * revenant * this ain't a scene, it's an arms race. fallout boy * open to anyone! this is my newest stallion. hopefully he becomes more popular than hannibal * speech: peru, normal: 404d58 * [c] lizzeh 2011 * [/blockquote]

The one good thing about being Züden was that her body was built to stand the heat. But even once in a while it was good to cool off by the water. The sweltering heat of late spring was getting to her, driving her insane with the buzzing flies in her ears, causing her to shake her head every other minute or so before they got the chance to bite. She stood quietly under the cover of the willow trees, their long branches caressing across her body like gentle fingers. Occasionally she stamped her hooves in irritation as the flies continued to harass, her head turning to snap at the insects. Eventually she gave up with a loud snort, and generated heat around her body, so that if the bugs got too close, they'd burn to a crisp. Aithne's lips curved into a small smirk, shaking her mane as she started walking along under the canopy of willows.
Considerably, it seemed that the war was dying down. But she knew better than to put her guard down. The other Züden could be anywhere, lurking, waiting for a chance to strike. And it was up to her to protect anyone that stood the chance of getting harmed by those demonic creatures. And soon, yes soon, she would gather her own army, and kill every one of them. They deserved their deaths, and vanquishing them all would only cure her blood lust. The heat around her bodice flared, fueled by the sudden spark of fury in her veins. The leaves around her shriveled in the heat, curling up in on themselves as she passed.
Aithne drew herself out of her thoughts when she heard the sound of the waterfall close by. She pricked her ears, her nostrils flaring at the scent of another horse mingling with the smell of water and growth. She wouldn't mind a little company if it came down to it, but if the stranger didn't want to talk, she would hold her tongue too. She allowed the radiating heat to disappear from her before she continued on until the sound of the waterfall was rushing in her ears, and the sight of the water brought her to a stop. She easily spotted the gray stallion wading in the pool, and she hid an amused smirk. Well, that was one way to cool off. The mare lowered her head and wandered over to the other side of the pool, not entirely submissive but showing no signs of aggression as she dipped in her muzzle to drink.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#D6D7D6]As Revenant was turning within the waters, the sound of an approaching creature came to his ears. It caused the young stallion to stop momentarily within the waters, the small waves he had been creating ceasing and the pool coming to it's usual calmness. Gentle eyes watched the figure of Aithne, as she came to the water's edge to drink, and ears tilted toward her. The grey stallion moved ever so slowly through the water, curious as to who this mare was, nostrils flaring as he caught her scent upon the air. A small smile crossed his maw, and he stopped within the water again, lifting his head up slightly. |
Why, hello there, miss, the Andalusian's deep tones emitted into the air, amber-green eyes still trained upon the unknown mare who had suddenly appeared from the bowing willows.
The Andalusian stallion walked from the pool of water, small droplets falling from his coat onto the green grass surrounding the serene place, and paused near Aithne. Revenant's nostrils still quivered with excitement to the arrival of the mare. He wouldn't show it, but he was also curious as to where this mare was from. Her markings were nothing like he had seen before, at least, not when he lived back in the States. Tilting his head ever so slightly at the Zunden standing before him, the stallion was even half tempted to turn and bolt away. It had been such a long time since he had seen another horse, that his social skills weren't exactly the greatest in the world. two hundred fifty three * revenant * the take over, the break's over. fallout boy * ew, shorter than my normal post. Out of the corner of her eye Aithne could see the curiosity emitting from the stallion's body language as his gaze turned to her. She looked up as he moved toward her, her ears pricking toward him, her golden eyes studying him with equal interest. She eventually raised her head from the water, turning her neck toward him as water drizzled down her muzzle. She gave a friendly smile to the stranger as he neared her, flicking her tail along her haunches. "Hello sir," she replied coolly, her voice light and airy.
She watched him carefully, a slight tension to his muscles for a reason she couldn't understand. She raised her head higher, shaking her forelock out of her eyes. To admit she hadn't been socializing much herself ever since she found out that Stranger was alive again. It was such a shock to her, it seemed to totally disable her brain for a short time. But now things were better that she had gotten over the news, and she would soon be back to her normal amount of socializing.

The stallion shifted his weight upon the grass, the delicate blades bending under his hooves as he moved. His long, pale tail swiped along his hind legs, as ears decided to stop dancing upon his head, and tilt forward. Eyes trained upon the mare, and nostrils quivered faintly. |
Sorry about the awkwardness that any of this may cause. I haven't exactly seen another horse in a month's time or so, so my social skills have practically gone with the wind, a weak smile crossed the stallion's muzzle, as he pawed the soft embankment with a fore hoof, creating a shallow path in the ground. If he hadn't made it awkward before, he had just done so now by opening his mouth to speak. Ears begin to twitch nervously upon his head, and he looked at the pool of water beside him, just so he would stop staring at Aithne.
Finally, he worked up the courage to speak again, and this time he didn't sound like a bumbling idiot. My name is Revenant, what's yours? And what are your markings? The mare's golden eyes studied the stallion with a quizzical expression as he fidgeted, though she tried to show her bemusement with his behavior as she waited patiently for him to speak. She smiled softly and nodded to him, everything making sense now she he addressed the elephant in the room. It was always entertaining to find a newbie on the island, wide-eyed and curious as newborn fawns with this entirely different world they had entered outside their usual barrier of security. "Don't worry about it," she replied, offering a friendly smile, "you aren't the only one out there. It's not exactly safe to approach some strangers here, but being as big as you are you shouldn't have too much trouble. Just don't go blundering up to any mare like you just did to me, you might scare them."
He seemed perfectly innocent enough, but who knew who this horse could turn out to be? Though he may be a bit careful on his feet now, he may change once he got the hang of how the island worked. Hell knew what a confident stallion could do. Aithne looked at the stallion curiously as she caught him staring at her, unsure of what to make of it. But as he spoke up, she gave a rumble of laughter, amused. "There are more vibrant markings than mine, as you'll see soon enough. But mine represent my breed, my element - fire. But if you see any one of my breed around, tell them that Aithne said hi, if they don't kill you first. Be warned, you aren't in the safety of the humans anymore."

I normally don't go blundering up to every mare. I was raised with manners. I just was curious as to what a mare like you were doing wandering around these parts. Mare like you? Flaring his nostrils, he let his ears dance upon his head.
Tilting his head much like a curious dog, the stallion looked confused for a second. Elemental? Fire? You mean there are horses here who can control elements? How interesting. I'll be sure to remember that... Revenant paused for a brief second, realizing she had said her name, Aithne. Pleasure to meet you. Aithne had to choke back a laugh as she watched the stallion, though it was hard to hide the amusement that shone in her eyes. The poor thing was obviously trying, but he had a long way to go if he was going to remaster the art of socializing. She waved him off with a shake of her mane. "That's alright," she replied, snickering softly at him as he attempted to save himself. "But thanks for the complement, anyway. You aren't too bad looking either."
Aithne then nodded her head to the gray, glancing around her. "Indeed there are, every element you can think of. They are all around us, but now they may be more confined to their territories since everyone has been rallied. All except the Hielos; but they're probably all gone." She shrugged her shoulders at him, not really bothered by that fact. She smiled at him as he said her name, and dipped her head in response. "You weren't kidding about the manners after all. But pleasure to meet you Revenant."

Why, thank you. Nostrils quivered faintly, and the stallion's golden-green eyes glanced around as Aithne did. Was there something around them that he should know about? Shaking his head so that his forelock would leave his eyesight, the Andalusian focused upon the Zunden again, ears perked. Smiling as he said something about his manners, the Andalusian felt somewhat flattered. Swishing his tail slowly behind him, he began to wonder what else the two would talk about. Aithne frowned slightly at the mention of her "Lead". Although the stallion was trying to find humor in that question, but she could find none. The gray mare shook her head at him, heaving a soft sigh. " I should hope not," she said, her voice a dangerous growl as she peered through the trees around them. "If he did decide to show his face, I would kill him right on the spot, and he would try and do the same with me. After all, he didn't get to finish the job last time." The mare gave a humorless, dark laugh, slapping her tail on her hindquarters, shooing the flies away.
She studied him again for a minute before shaking her head at him, cracking a small smile. "You'll have to excuse me," she apologized, her ears swiveling awkwardly as she stood. "Considering, no, I don't think you'll have to deal with that. So talk away."

Glancing to the beautiful willows around them, he flicked his ears slightly. |
Why don't we go for a walk? It's really beautiful out today, and maybe if we walk, it'll get the conversation moving a bit more, the stallion suggested, side-stepping away from the pool of water he had been wading in some time ago. Aithne was slightly relieved that she hadn't scared the stallion off with her outburst. It had been a while since she had talked to another horse, and it was nice to finally talk to someone after so long of reserved silence. So she all too easily agreed to the proposition of a walk, and turned her bodice away from the water to join at the stallion's side. "That sounds alright to me," she replied, giving a smile. She motioned her head forward, "Lead the way."
The mare chuckled softly at Revenant, raising her eyebrows at him and looking at him with curious golden eyes. "Oh do I?" she said, taken slightly aback. "I honestly have no idea what you mean by the 'States'. Is that where you came from? Anyway, you were saying?" She followed shortly behind her stallion, her shoulders level with his hindquarters, her ears pricked as she watched him, waiting expectantly for an answer.

Smiling faintly at his companion, he nodded at her words. |
Yeah, the States. It's a big land mass across the ocean. There you can find an array of different things, some of them nothing you'd ever see on this island. Aithne swiveled her ears as she continued to walk beside him, her ears full with the sound of birdsong and his voice talking about his home. She listened patiently with interest, her ears pricked, trying to imagine all the things he was describing. She tilted her head slightly as he mentioned "breaking". Her ears flattened briefly, before they went forward again, and she gave a snort. "Sounds painful," she commented with a small huff. "I don't think humans would take me to well anyhow. I look too different from the other horses that come from off the island."
As the sun began to set, the more the mare began to see the fireflies lighting up the shadows of the willow forest as it steadily grew darker, the sky mixed in beautiful hues of different colors. She looked over at him as he spoke again, having been distracted by a firefly that had landed on her nose. She quickly shook it off, pricking her ears. "Well, it was a little while ago. But the fire herd in itself are completely evil. They want to kill everyone that isn't Zuden on the island, because they think they are superior. At one point, I thought the same thing. I've done things that I deeply regret. But I learn to move on. I came to my senses that what we were doing was wrong, and I sought to help the cause against them. I was an undercover agent, and spied on the herd. But originally, I was supposed to spy for Aiden. Eventually I was found out, and I was sentenced to death by a public mauling. Thats why I have these pretty scars on my face." She smiled over at him, nodding her head, a pink scar tracing down from between her eyes and going diagonally down her cheek.

Flicking his tail slowly behind him, the stallion's eyes glanced around the forest that they walked through. Something just didn't seem right now that they wandered more and more. Suddenly, the smell of blood and the feeling of despair filled the air. Nostrils quivered, and the Andalusian's eyes went to Aithne, then searched for the cause of the smell. Moving through the trees, the stallion's hooves seemed to pick up speed, eyes ever searching.
Finally, the source came into a view. A horse lay near a tree, it's pure white coat red with it's blood. As Revenant neared the horse, he could feel the air around him grow cold, and his ears flicked back ever so slightly. What was this sorcery!? Gold-green eyes looked along this injured horse's body, the wounds seeming very deep. |
