Phantom let out a snort of rage as she slapped the soft ground with her foreleg. This damn foal decided that he was going to be born today. Oddly enough the pain of the contractions did not bother the white mare as she paced up and down a well worn path near a small river. She had been pacing back and forth for the past forty-five minutes, just waiting until the foal would finally decide he wanted to see the world. She knew he was close.
Most mares, at this point, would be laying on the ground, probably crying with the pain. Not Phantom. Her years as a warrior had taught her how to deal with pain, not matter how extreme. Pain was weakness and weakness was pain. This was something she had learned from her first few months on Isola Dei Dei. It was a lesson that had stuck with her until today and would always remain in her mind until her dying day.
The mare's chocolate eyes lifted to the sky as she heard a raven calling down to her. She whinnied at her in return, inviting her to come closer. The ebony bird lazily flapped down and rested on a large rock near the river as she stared at Phantom. Phantom ceased her constant movement and narrowed her eyes at the bird. "'Ello Maladicta." she said. "As y'can see I'm a bit busy now, foal on the way an' such." The bird nodded, knowing Phantom would keep talking and not let her get a word in until the end. "As you know I really don't want to be stuck with this bastard, so I was wonderin' if you could go find, or find someone who knows, my friend Annabelle. You know her, yes?" Maladicta quickly nodded and flapped off leaving Phantom to resume her pacing and inner monolouge.

- "Yes Phantom?" The young mare asked, poking her slender neck and cranium out from behind a bush. "You send for me?" Baby blue eyes took a closer inspection of the expecting, battle scared mare, and noticed her tense and angry body language. "Labor?" The striped nyfio mutt asked quietly, shifting her weight uncomfortably.
Finally stepping out from the bush, she revealed a rather pregnant stomach. The young mutt was well into her pregnancy, almost a couple weeks away from foaling, which as what Phantom was doing now.
Annabelle watched the ivory mare curiously. How was she not writhing in pain at the moment? Deciding against asking her, Annabelle shook her head to rid the thought.

The Arab jumped at the sound of Annabelle's voice. She mentally cursed herself for acting like such a fool. Foaling was keeping her busy, not letting her eb fully aware of her surroundings. Not good. She needed to remain more vigilant. Many predators waited for moment like this. Normally a foaling amre was a sitting target, something that could be taken down easy. Not to mention after she birthed her foal she was weak and tired which enabled them to attack without the fear of getting kicked or bitten.
"Annabelle." Phantom greeted with a bob of her head. She halted in her tracks and flicked her tail nervously as she looked around. "As you can obviously tell I am in the process of birthing this foal." she proceeded to state the obvious. "A few weeks ago I asked if you would tkae this colt or filly since I do not want it. Once your child is born would you still be willing to take it?" Phantom asked as she resumed her pacing.
Her optics squeezed shut as she felt a rather large movement from the foal. She shook her coat of and continued to pace more violently than before. She was a fighter, she would not let this get the best of her. From now on she decided no more children, not that she ever wanted any in the first place. This one was a mistake, she would make sure that never happened again.
Average mares would be overjoyed at the news of a new child. Not Phantom. Having a foal was one of her biggest, if one o fher only, fears. Now she was here living it out. At least she had been blessed with someone who would take it off her hands once it was born.
