If she had to pick a particular time of night that she liked the best, it would have to be the time that she was experiencing at that very moment. The sky seemed to be at its darkest as only small pinpoints of light from the stars above were appearing and shedding an eerie glow on the rest of the world. The moon had disappeared for a few days as its cycle dropped below the horizon to grace other parts of the world. The noise of crickets had faded away as the night reached its peak when most animals awaited the lightening of the sky to begin their roaming. Most animals definitely did not include the deep grey mare who stepped across the darkened world as if she owned it and the time of day that graced its sprawling landscape.
Indeed, she could tell that this was where her kind were supposed to thrive as the tall trees would block out any light even in the middle of the day and the beach that she was now on provided an excellent view of the heavens above that she had extensive knowledge of. At that moment, as a matter of fact, she turned her chiseled features skyward and allowed her piercing violet gaze to take in all the extraterrestrial world had to offer her. Names of constellations and nebulae and galaxies ran constantly through her head as she swept her gaze from one horizon to another and back again. She absolutely enjoyed having all of what many called unobtainable knowledge right at her fingertips for her to explore without being baffled by the sheer scale of the world in which their tiny earth resided. As she finally broke her insistent gaze, a deep sigh was heaved through her nostrils and into the chilly night air.
Finally, she broke her still stance and looked about her for some sign of the herd that she had lived within all of her life. It appeared as if these lands had been abandoned for some time and they now appeared lifeless in her vibrant eyes. For some reason, this fact made her angry and a sharp dagger pawed at the ashen sands beneath her bodice. She never seemed to get far as the lapping waves always filled her hole back in but it cooled her flaring temper to be doing damage to something. Boring of her games, she stepped lightly onto solid ground and made her way toward the trees whose interlacing branches made the harsh rays of sun bearable when daylight lit upon the world. Sliding effortlessly into the grove, she almost completely disappeared within her surroundings. The only things blatantly visible were her star studded hindquarters, left leg, and cheekbones. She did not mind this one bit as she took pride in her markings and enjoyed flaunting them a bit.
