DUE AFFRONTATO. A gentle dusting of ivory snow fell from the skies, laying softly over the already thick layer that blanketed the ground; this winter had been oddly harsh, and seemed to only be getting worse. Tate stood in shelter under a thick elm tree, and sighed exasperatedly, breath misting in the bitterly cold temperatures. There weren't enough numbers. The Veggenti herd had failed. There was no chance that two herd members, that being himself and Aetas, could take down a whole, satanic, bloodlusting herd of crazed firebreathers. But he would go down fighting.
The visions came even more frequently, of herds destroyed and the charcoal carcasses strewn across the horizon like freakish lumps of coal, endless forest fires, blazes as high as the trees. The hardest bit was knowing there was nothing he could do. The stress had taken it's toll on the brute - as had the winter - leaving his usually sleek ebony and ivory pelt lacklustre and thick, banner knotted and stray twigs taking residence pretty much anywhere they could. Eyes, usually such bright, glittering ruby and clear water blue were dark, ruby orb becoming garnet and water becoming navy.
He had to try. He wouldn't give up, and he made a vow to himself - he would rather die trying, then sit by and watch the world burn. And with that, he opened his velveteen maw wide, and bellowed the loudest bugle he could muster, the noise echoing with power, reaching not only with sound but with mind, hoping it would reach even into the darkest, deepest corners of Isola Dei Dei. So he stood, waiting with hope that more members would gather.
He didn't hold his breath.

Aetas The mare had lived here for quite sometime. She had hoped that when she first arrived that there would be more to follow. There weren't. She felt as if Tate and her were the only two Veggenti left on the whole island. She knew that he also felt this way sometime. Aetas knew how she felt, she picked up on it a lot. Truthfully, she felt the same way that he did. Anxious, depressed, and bored. Thats how she felt most of the time. Where were the other Veggenti? She knew that there were more. She could not tell you exactly how she knew, but she did. She had a feeling a few would come. It might not be right away, but they would be there nonetheless. So in the meantime, Aetas was waiting.
She had heard her 'leader's' call and slowly made her way to him. It was funny how she saw Tate now. When she had first met him, she respected him highly as the time lord, the one who would defeat Aiden and the Zunden. Now, she just saw him as her equal, her friend, a fellow Veggenti. She knew how bad that would look to other herd members, not respecting the authority, but she didn't care, mostly because there were no other herd members.
The mare halted when she saw Tate. She whinnied to him and continued on, only to stop again a few strides away. "Well?" she asked, looking at him expectantly. Perhaps by some kindess of fate, Tate had picked up a new herd member. From the looks of it, Aetas highly doubted that.

DUE AFFRONTATO. Aetas, the only other Veggenti member, was on her way to the meeting. Sometimes being able to see into the future was such a boring trait, there was never any element of surprise. Tate's face, stern, ruby left eye shimmering demonically while the crystal water blue orb glittered, turned to stare in the direction he knew the fae would reveal herself from, and, sure enough, there she was.
She was a pretty little mare, sure enough, and there was something about her persona that drove Tate crazy, this sort of smug, self-knowing of being powerful - He loved it. Most horses were too damn scared, or just wanted help from Tate that they simply kissed the ground he walked on, and frankly, it was tiring. Especially when you can read minds as easily as an open book and therefore know what their real intentions are. It was nice to have a change. Her voice rang out, "well?" a question she knew the answer to far too well. There were no others. At least not yet.
Glazed orbs rolled down and back up the fae's bodice, before he ground his ivories silently and sighed inaudibly. This mare needed putting in her place, jokingly of course. He would never harm one of his kind. A half-sided smile, tucking up on the left half of his face which coincidently was the side which was home to his garnet, smouldering orb, barely gave Aetas any time to know what he was planning. Simply pausing time, walking softly to directly behind her - a blind spot for horses - restarting time and whispering gently, vocals quiet yet husky, "Boo."
Stopping time again he trotted loftily into a crown of gnarled trees, banner trailing along the damp ground, muscles rippling beneath a glimmering ivory and ebony coat. Entering her mind he softly muttered, almost challengingly, "Seeing as you are the only other herd member, it was only be fair to give you the title of lead mare. But, you have to deserve it. Push me from your mind. Remove my influence. Then, try to invade my mind and find where I am stood. Do this, I may very well make you lead. Perhaps."
He then chuckled darkly, to initiate the test. Would she retaliate?[/blockquote][/blockquote]
