Old habits die hard. Hannibal had abandoned his territory in search of Spirit and their daughter, Vodka. His search, however, didn't yield any promising results. The hellion couldn't find any sign of the one he cared about, nor of their daughter. This worried him slightly, only because the winter this year was particularly harsh. Maybe they hadn't even made it to winter, but died during the sweltering heat of the previous summer months.
The hell-hound now walked through the meadow, the snow shallower here because the mountain range above sheltered it. As he moved along, he noticed a set of hoof prints that seemed to have melted all the snow around it. Ears flicked on the paint's head, and he suddenly paused. The scent of Tuula, and of the Era, swept across his path. A sudden anger sparked within his blue eyes, and fire danced around his body. |
No need for the hostility, Father, came a sickly sweet voice from behind him, and Hannibal turned to face the intruder. He half expected to see Tuula there, but it was a young mare, her eyes and hooves ablaze, and flames shooting out of her nostrils. Who... who are you, Hannibal asked, quite confused as to who this young filly was. Ears flicked atop Aeon's head, and the stallion who had met her at the border appeared behind her. Hannibal, this is your daughter... Aeon cut Joker off, I am Aeon. Daughter of Tuula... and yourself. Aeon smirked as she watched Hannibal wince at the name of her mother. She prohibited that I come to you in case I decided to help you destroy her and her herd.Hannibal shifted slightly, as Aeon spoke, blue eyes looking to Joker. A sinister smirk then crossed Hannibal's maw, and he chuckled evilly. Joker, since my darling daughter wishes to join us, I believe we should test her to see if she is really up to it, Hannibal took a few steps forward, and tapped Aeon's cheek. The fiery appearance that Aeon was used to disappeared, now a plain bay mare stood before the Lead. Gold eyes stared at Hannibal in astonishment. What... what did you just do, Aeon whinnied shrilly, backing away from her father. Another evil cackle escaped the dark bay paint. Joker, take this little wench and do what you will with her. I have blocked her powers so she can't harm you with fire, Hannibal said, and turned around. You... monster! Aeon hissed and snapped at Joker when he tried to touch her, you are no better than any other stallion. And to think, I thought you were much more than this. All this talk caused Hannibal to roll his eyes, Hush, young one. Joker is merely going to test to see if you can handle being in a herd like mine. And to see if you are truly my daughter. Joker nodded at Hannibal's words, and turned to leave. But, suddenly stopped with Hannibal spoke again, Oh, and Joker, the large Draught turned to look at the Lead, if she disobeys, you know the punishment. Joker smirked and nipped at Aeon's flank, urging her forward.
Once Aeon and Joker had left, Hannibal turned and looked at the mountains. Oh, how he wished Spirit was there with him at that moment.[/blockquote] ! re-education through labor (rise against) ! 545 words ! template/table lizzeh 2010.

The young mare had done it again – she had wandered off for months at a time, returning only now and then in the oddest of moments. However, she did have a knack of picking interesting ones.
The Navita’s eyes gazed forwards, finding herself perfectly content in the shadows of the infamous Felwood forest. Was it always so dark here? Probably – she remembered the last few walks through it being dimly lit, if at all. She’d either followed Joker or used her tricks to guide her through the abyss, and so that’s what she resorted to now.
She paused for a few seconds, closing her eyes and standing still a while before finally opening them again. The irises gave a faint glow of yellow, though it quickly disappeared as the mare’s eyes returned to normal. A streak of white worked its way up her front leg, branching out much like a lightning beam would, before finally stopping and fading out at her shoulder. The incandescent mark glowed brightly in the shadows of the woods, almost as if it were charged with some sort of electricity. At that, the mare took off, her hooves hardly making a sound as she went along.
Devil had always had a bad habit – she never walked where she could run, she never did a simple jump when she could stretch her legs and soar high above an obstacle. It was simply habit to her, she had too much energy to suppress, too much spirit to tie down to normal standards.
After a while of recklessly finding her way about the woods, nearby voices finally drew her movements to a stop, and she stood calmly, listening in on the conversation. After several minutes of attempting to figure it out, it finally dawned on her who it was. Hannibal, the hell-hound, and Joker – oh, she’d missed him. Another voice accompanied them as well, someone who was said to be Hannibal’s daughter – and yet, by the dialect, the elder was still a bit cruel to her as well. A soft snort escaped the mare’s maw, though it went off as quietly as possible into the crisp, winter air. What fun could she have with Hannibal? It wasn’t as if he could simply turn off her powers as he had to the other mare, though he could try to turn her into a steaming pile of ash. Oh well – she wouldn’t go as far as to provoke his anger, perhaps only his curiosity.
Lowering her head slightly, her gaze focused on the air in front of the stallion. The mischief glittered in her eyes brightly, as if someone had sparked up two flames. The space before him lit up with glowing swirls – swirls that seemed to float, as if completely defiant of the planet’s gravity. Some were green, some glowed red, and others were white and purple. Though the mare was only after startled reactions, she quite had a habit of letting her creativity shine through her powers. Had she possessed the patience, she could have painted, perhaps even dreamt masterpieces if she put her mind to it – but alas, she only had enough to go around for a few tricks here and there. Now, the simple question was: would Hannibal recognize her trickery? She knew that Joker, at least if he remembered her, would know the tell-tale sign that the female was back for another round of mischief. [/blockquote]

“Are you s-sure you know w-w-where you’re going?” Timid lyrics whistled through the wind as a petite ivory danced timorously behind her half-sister. The mare was only met with a bitter snort from her fiery counterpart. The painted felsteed raised her maw to the air to allow her nostrils to huff out twin billowing towers of ashy gray smoke. Her hooves pawed the snowy earth, flames igniting all the brighter than they had only days before when she embarked on this journey. Haize had been all too preoccupied with the fear of the wilderness to realize the lively vitality her demonic sibling was taking on as they got closer and closer to their destination. They were close to Hannibal, and her rejuvenated powers (once suffering due to chilling weather) were enough to know that. Yet, the little Era mare had been far too gullible to know she was being misled. She thought they were going home; back to where the Era truly belonged.
They had run a distant but risky encounter with Orpheus’s runaway son, Yamanu, and some brood to which Davi cared not to give a name. However, the blazing creature was as smart as she was sinister – her father’s daughter, indeed. Davi convinced Haize that the silhouettes in the distance were enemies, she blocked all detection of their locale from the Era herd, and she blinded young Yamanu – leading him to think he and his companion were in danger of a Zunden attack. All for what, to appease her father, of course. His pleasure was for more selfish gain than one might expect. She would give the first and only offspring of Marut and Tuula to the stallion as a peace offering. She would prove her loyalty and in return hoped to gain a high rank when the Felwood herd took over the island.
The mare had calculated her every option when she slipped away from the Era herd. Haize having found her was just a misfortunate happening – misfortunate for the Eras that is. It allowed Davi an opportunity to set a good name in with her father. She knew he was the only one she could really turn to. Her only other family was with Orpheus – and that brute was not likely to welcome her any more than the Era had wanted her birth.
As they neared, Davi could sense her sister. She heard their voices as soft murmurs upon the wind. It appeared that Hannibal was none too accepting of the idea that his and Tuula’s children had sought him out. This caused the mare to pause reluctantly for a few moments. Was this the best idea? She didn’t wish her powers to be stripped away like her sisters had. What other option had she? Plus, she’d put up with Haize and the little goody-two-shoes nagging for so long… she had to go through with this.
Approaching the opening, Davi was somewhat apprehensive, but her mind became preoccupied by the glowing orbs. Curiosity quickly turned to annoyance in the mare’s visage. She cleared her throat to distract her father from the floating lights. Davi saw no fear ever in the unknown. It appeared to be a cheap parlor trick, anyhow. “Father,” she hissed out to be certain that attention was, in fact, on her. Eyes momentarily receded to her twin. She was slightly disgusted by her seeming normalcy. However, the painted demon was glad to see Aeon. Aeon was the only one on this island to which Davi had taken a liking too.
Haize trembled behind her half-sister in fear. Where were they? Who were these horses? What had Davi done; that sly devil! The trepidation emitting from the Era caused a smile to erup across Davi’s kissers. “Father,” she repeated, “I know you do not trust Aeon and I yet. But, I assure we are of your blood and our loyalty resides with you,” the mare was kissing up, and perhaps a hint of sass could be detected as she bowed her crown to the snowy earth. “Take, this, the illegitimate spawn of Marut and Tuula as an offering of allegiance.”

The lights. [the pretty lights] Oh, how they seemed familiar. [yes, yes, so familiar] But, how? [how, how? what does this mean?] |
Blue eyes looked at the lights before him, and he tilted his head ever so slightly. He had seen this trick before, but his mind couldn't grasp where he had seen it. And who had played the trick on him.
Father. What? Eyes looked away from the lights before him, focusing upon the two horses who had suddenly appeared before him. Another daughter? Ears tilted slightly as he listened to the words coming out of Davi's mouth, and blue eyes sparked, not in anger, but in curiousity. An... offering? What was going on? The spawn of Marut... and Tuula?! The name caused fury to rise within his body, his blood to boil, and his painted body suddenly turned, fire consuming his form. The Dreadsteed stood before Davi and Haize, eyes blazing angrily. You dare speak of that mare in my presence?! YOU DARE? He didn't know why he was suddenly angry when he heard Tuula's name, but here he was, rounding upon his daughter and this Era filly, flames crackling loudly, dancing off his body. But all too soon, the stallion snapped out of his rage, his body suddenly turning back to it's painted self, blue eyes staring at Davi and Haize.Davi, is it, well... I am sure we can find a use for this... thing, he pointed his maw toward Haize, and that sinister spark that Aeon usually had within her eyes sparkled within Hannibal's, we'll just have to make sure she sticks close to Joker, and not run back to Mommy and Daddy. As for you, Davi. I think you should stay close by, in case I need you. Please deliver Haize to Joker, and bring your twin back here to me. I don't want any harm done to those loyal to me. The Lead pointed his muzzle in the general direction that Joker had gone with Aeon, his nostrils flaring ever so slightly, knowing Joker wouldn't hurt his daughter unless he absolutely needed to.
Meanwhile, Joker and Aeon trekked through the shadows of the trees, quite silent. However, Joker was the first to speak, as soon as Devil came into view. Ears flicked atop the stallion's head, and he balked suddenly. Aeon sensed the tension of the stallion beside her, and she glanced at him, her golden eyes following his stare to the mare within their view. A fairly loud snort escaped the hell-horse, and she rolled her eyes. ...Devil? Is it.. is it really you? It had been quite some time since the stallion had seen the mare, the one who set his heart in motion, sent it fluttering, each time they were around each other. Devil found quite the entertainment in watching Hannibal, specifically due to the curiosity that’d shone through due to the lights. However, soon along, someone came to spoil her fun, and thus she unfocused, letting the lights float away and dissolve into thin air. She quite liked playing with those – it often startled creatures that hadn’t seen them before. As of the moment, she only knew of one other elemental breed that could ‘play’ with energy and lights like that, so to speak – the Arrats. But no, the horse was far from an Arrat.
The mare’s attention was held by the strange commotion before her eyes. A new mare had entered the scene, with another tagging behind her – and the fury that escaped Hannibal only caused Devil’s curiosity to go sky high. However, she kept her mouth shut and her eyes peeled. My, oh, my – there were a lot of betrayals between the darks and lights of the island. However, perhaps that was simply the way it had been, and always would be, for centuries to come.
A soft snort escaped the female’s snout as she watched, her ears pricking slightly as the stallion spoke Joker’s name – so he was still around. The corners of her maw tugged upwards slightly, forming a subtle smile as her eyes shifted their gaze around the area – where was he? His scent was nearby, somewhere closer than she’d imagined. Had he changed since their last encounter? The mare certainly had – she’d grown more, leaning away from the days of childlike wonder. Along the way, she’d gained a certain essence that, when put to use, seemed to set any present herd leaders into panic over asserting their dominance – perhaps they felt challenged. The mare snorted softly, flicking her ears forward to listen in on the situation some more – that is, until someone called her name. That voice, she’d missed that voice. The mare’s head shot to the side faster than her ears had had the time to react, and thus they followed shortly after. There, not too far in the distance, stood the reason she’d come back to check up on Felwood. She trotted towards him instantly, flicking her tail and sending some of the tassels flying with the gentle, crisp winter breeze.
“Who else would it be?” She asked, her tones soft and sweet, yet with an underlying sass to it that was characteristic of the mare. Once she was within a few feet’s distance, she tilted her head softly, running her gaze over the stallion.
“It’s been a long time.. Jeez, did someone try to pull you up to the sky?” She joked, giving a toss of her forelock as if to protest that she now had to look up to him.

Davi’s eyes lit up with curiosity and wonderment, but certainly not fear, as she watched her father’s rage fueled at Tuula’s mention. It appeared that was his weakness. Although, her loyalties were currently with Hannibal, the mare would remember what seemed to get his goat. Her only apprehension was in the thought that her father might take her powers in his fury. Her qualm was settled as his rage subsided, and it appeared he was willing to accept her peace offering.
The painted creature’s lips were curled into an impish little smirk as she saw Haize attempting to slither away just as Hannibal had passed the Era’s sentence. Her hooves pawed the ground before she rounded back behind the ivory filly. Davi’s teeth sought out to nick Haize’s rump. Haize squealed in pain and darted off in direction of Joker and Aeon. The painted creature herded the nervous ivory towards their destination with great ease. It was amazing what a puff of fire or a sharp bite could do to motivate someone to cooperate.
The Era was in disbelief that her sibling had done such a thing. She had known she was evil, but this… Her light blue orbs caught sight of a trio of equines. She was not aware the bay was her other delinquent sister or that the stallion was Joker. She skidded to a halt in front of the group with a naively pleading gaze, “please… help.” He breath was bated and body trembling with fear.
A sick laughter followed as the fiery mare emerged from the darkness. “Foolish little filly, you actually think there is good in this world don’t you?” Davi’s eyes narrowed harshly upon her half sister who was still squirming and inching closer to the three as if she would find some sanctuary with them. She then looked to Aeon with a firm grimace at her current state.
“Aeon, father wants you to return to him. Come with me sister.” Her narrowed gaze then fell quite maliciously upon Joker, “that,” she motioned with her muzzle towards Haize, “is your burden now.”
Haize looked with fret upon Joker and Aeon in realization that Davi was correct; there would be no help for her today.

Tuula, how I miss you. [tuula, pretty mare, betrayed, betrayed!] Yes, she betrayed me. Ran off with Marut. [marut, marut. betrayed us. ran away with marut.] She. Will. Pay. [pay! pay! die, she will die! tuula will die!] |
Hannibal stared off into the distance, watching nothing in particular. The small voice in his head disappeared now, and he shook his head, sighing softly. This voice had gotten worse since Tuula had left the last time. But, it kept him company, at least. When he was alone, he would argue with this voice for hours and hours, until finally the voice would just shut up and leave him alone.
A small smirk crossed Joker's maw, as Devil spoke of how tall he had become. Had it been that noticeable that he had changed? Flicking his forelock out of his eyes, the dark blue-black paint chuckled under his breath. At least I can look down at you now, the stallion joked, and flicked his tail slowly. Eyes looked toward the two newcomers, and they narrowed ever so slightly. Ears flicked and he shifted slightly as Davi spoke. Beside Joker, Aeon smirked evilly, clearly glad to see Davi within Felwood. She was even amused to see dear Haize there. Ears flicked in curiosity at her twin, wondering why their half sister was there.
Nostrils flared, and the mare moved away from Joker's side, heading over to Davi. Lets go, the mare sneered at Joker, Devil, and Haize. Devil snorted softly, grinning in response to the large stallion’s comment. He certainly could look down on her now, despite him being just a bit younger. She’d never really known what breed he was, but she remembered her father – a large, bulky stallion, who’d been burnt to ashes by the hell-hound that roamed perhaps twenty to thirty feet away from them. She tilted her head, her mind wandering off a bit as she compared the two. He certainly resembled him, mostly in the coat. However, Joker wouldn’t end up in ashes – no, she’d make Hannibal ashes himself before that happened. The mare’s ear flicked to the side lightly, showing a bit of the aggression that had sparked within, though only for the slightest second.
She quickly shook the thoughts away, turning her attention to the strange commotion and exchange that the mares had. It wasn’t any of her business, but something in Haize’s pleading gaze sparked her better side to linger from the shadows, though she kept it at bay. She didn’t know why Hannibal wanted the mare, or just how bad they were going to treat her throughout the time she was a guest. It was none of her business, not something she should worry about even the slightest bit. Thus, she pulled her amber gaze from the mare, turning her head aside as if she didn’t exist – even if her true intentions were to find out what was really going on later, and maybe give a helping hand, or the slightest look of kindness.
“Yeah, yeah, tall guy.” she teased, grinning and nipping up at his mane softly.
She followed the female hell-hounds with her eyes, though she quickly pulled her attention away from them yet again. There were so many horses here – horses she hadn’t seen before, but seemed to be of some importance. Her nostrils flared slightly, and she lifted her head, looking up at Joker as he brushed her cheek. The touch was enough to send a shiver running down her back – but not in the bad way, no, it was a shiver that was welcome anytime. A soft smile flooded out from the stone-cold expression she’d taken on, and she dipped her head, some of her forelock falling over her eyes face out of shyness. Though, she quickly lifted her muzzle to his cheek as well, running it softly down the side of his neck before finally turning her attention back to the new mare. Maybe some of the affection that’d been shown would calm the frightened creature, perhaps show her that they weren’t – well, she wasn’t – going to murder her in cold blood.

Davi could not help but let a devilish grin cross her kissers as she saw Aeon’s curiosity in Haize’s presence, and she was excited to brag about her brilliant scheming. The mare was not modest when it came to her maniacal ways – it was something she boasted quite often and proudly! Now was not the time. A harsh glare cast upon her tremulous prisoner, feeding off the fear she instigated. And, with a stomp of her hoof and tossing of her fiery mane, Davi was off to return to her father with her dearest sibling beside her.
"Father," the familiar hiss slipped from the dreadsteed's kissers as they approached Hannibal.
Haize’s well-dished crown was lowered submissively as the stallion turned towards her. The petite creature’s ears went taut against her skull as he questioned her, but she was too shaken up to respond. The compassion of the two towards one another was only a slightly relieving gesture; sure it showed that they had the capacity for kindness. However, Haize was smart enough to know that such kindness was not likely to be offered towards her. She missed her mother and father right now. After several moments of silence, the ivory gained enough courage to quietly murmur, “Haize is m-my name. Please, I belong to the Era herd… I s-s-shouldn’t be here.” He blue orbs, speckled with gold, peered with distraught at the much larger stag.

Pretty little fillies I have created. [pretty, pretty things. so pretty] So much like me, nothing like Tuula. Do they have the Era powers? [test, test! test them and see!] Yes, I will test them. See what they can do. Perhaps they will prove to be a powerful weapon against Tuula and her pathetic Eras. [test, test! powerful, indeed. weapons against she-who-must-not-be-named!]
Yes. They will be weapons against the Era. Ears flicked on top of Hannibal's head, as evil thoughts swept through his mind, quickly dancing across his eyes was that evil fire that dwelled within him, wanting to devour his painted body, to become a Dreadsteed. But, he stayed his painted self, even when Aeon and Davi arrived. The stallion quickly turned to face the two young mares, blue eyes watching Aeon, knowing he had to take off the block of her powers. You will have to excuse an old stallion, Aeon, for putting a blocking charm upon you. One can only be so careful with his young ones.
He stepped forward, tapping his muzzle upon his daughter's cheek, the fire suddenly erupting from Aeon's eyes and hooves. Relived to be back to her old self, the hell-spawn snorted, flames shooting out before her, sizzling the air. Hannibal smiled faintly, and looked to Davi. Thank you for taking Haize to Joker. He will know what to do with her. Now, why have you two exactly come to me? Well... the hell-spawn began, but looked to her twin, hoping she had a real reason as to why they had come to their father's territory. Why /had/ they defied their mother and slipped from the Era's lands to see Hannibal?
Joker tilted his head at the frightened mare, and he glanced to Devil, wondering if she knew what exactly was going on. Shaking his head ever so slightly, he took a step towards Haize, ears tilted forward. You are so young, but older than Davi and Aeon. Haize, if you don't want to get on Hannibal's bad side, stay with me, and stay out of the way of the twins. I will make sure no harm comes to you, and hopefully we can get you back to the other Era. Joker's voice was calm, and he hoped that the mare knew he was trying to be kind toward her. He knew how it was to be around new horses in a strange land. It was like that at first when Hannibal had entered so long ago. But he had grown accustomed to it, and it hadn't bothered him again.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ((muse)) fall for you [secondhand serenade] ((count)) 422 ((notes)) didn't want to use my table. /: ((characters)) joker, hannibal, aeon

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][bg=000000] • do you wanna burn it with me?
Devil watched the scene calmly yet again, not saying a word on the matter as the exchanges were made between the mares. She could only help but wonder what poor soul the hellhound was after now. Her nostrils flared subtly, letting out a puff of smoke as she turned her attention away from the vixens and to the frightened mare they’d dropped off with them. Her gaze ran its course over the female, specifically her eyes – those weren’t the eyes of a dark, nor of anyone with half the intensity of most of the horses in the herd. She didn’t belong here. Haize, that was her name – a young, Era mare who’d been tricked into trusting the fiery fiends. The Navita’s ears pricked quickly at Joker’s words. He was going to help her get away? She hardly knew a thing about Hannibal other than what he was capable of, but she knew enough to realize he would not approve of her returning home. However, she said no further comments – both because if she did, Hannibal might overhear, and perhaps Joker was simply trying to ease the creature away from fright. It wasn’t too long before she started to draw the lines in the situation, figuring out exactly what was going on - though, not completely. She didn’t know what would happen to the mare, but she knew why she’d been dragged here. She’s Marut’s daughter. She spoke, tossing her forelock aside and nodding to the mare. She did look like a pure Era – unlike the other two, who shared a resemblance of both Tuula and the hellhound. Devil turned her head away shortly after, her eyes following where the other two had left. They kidnapped her and ran away from Tuula, hoping to gain their father’s trust. Her tail flicked harshly, showing some of the anxiousness that had started to grow as a result of the scheming. It’s like a big family reunion – this will end badly.

Eager eyes watched as their father rekindled Aeon’s powers causing Davi’s own fiery tresses to blaze higher and stronger than they had in a long while. The mare had noticed a correlation – when separated, the filly felt drained and weary – reunion with either relation seemed to revive her demonic flame, and with both present… ah, it was invigorating! It left her so enthralled, that the youth could not help but toss her head allowing the fiery brilliance of her mane to crackle and rage without restraint.
It came to her attention that they had been inquired about their presence. Noting Aeon at a standstill, Davi took a step forward with a silver-tongue suit for such a demon. “Father, we were birthed of your flame in more than the literal sense. The betrayal of our… mother and those wretched Eras courses through our blood as it does yours. They deserve to pay. Taking their dearest daughter, the bastardized reminder of Tu- uh, mother’s traitorous sins, was a good start in achieving your vengeance – yet we thirst for more. Your pain is our own, y’see, for such demonic and spiteful creatures as ourselves would have been born pure had mother behaved herself more suitably. I propose we show the Era what their leads’ sinful and disloyal actions truly created,” Davi stopped, bright orbs glancing to her sister in the most devilish manner, “and that we burn every last Era to make certain they make proper penitence for their crimes. And, who better to turn to for such a venture than our own father?”
Settling momentarily, Davi awaited Hannibal’s response, yet one aud could not help but flicker as a breeze danced past. The fiery visage and her matching personality were her father’s genetic attributes; but her mother had given her some more hidden attributes – the power of the wind. Her mixed blood allowed for certain tricks of the trade to be far less keen than others. The wind told her now in choppy murmurs of most unsettling words; Joker’s. She could only hear pieces of what he’d said, but she wasn’t altogether pleased by the niceties offered towards her wretched half-sister. Despite a discomforted shift in weight, she showed no other signs of the disturbance. That issue could be dealt with at a later time, and she hoped for the young brute’s sake she had heard wrong.
Disconcerted as such speech made Davi, Haize found herself surprisingly comforted. Perhaps it was youthful naivety, but she believed that the stallion was honest in his intentions. Bright eyes shifted towards the mare opposite of her as she spoke about her family. Haize’s haunch twitched, tail slashing the air with unease, as she spoke her mother’s name – Hannibal’s reaction flashing through the mare’s mind. The speckled ivory remained silent due to her slight discomfort in the topic.
She felt safer around Joker than she had when in range of Hannibal and her demonic siblings, but Devil caused the mare to be just as unnerved.
Haize’s earliest memories were of Yamanu protecting her like Joker now seemed to be. And, then Annabelle had come into the picture and stolen the attention of her companion – ah, much like Devil. The speckled ivory couldn’t help but snort as her subconscious made the connection; while she didn’t realize why herself, the mare was suddenly overcome with a jealousy of Devil. Scolding herself internally, she refuted the idea… but it was true.

She's right... I could use these two. [use, use! make the windy horses pay!] But, the time has to be right.. just right. [just right, just right. for the little horses to fall.]
Ears flicked atop Hannibal's head, and his gaze went from Aeon to Davi, as he listened to the twin speak. For a moment, his gaze went past the two before him, to the forest, where he knew Joker and the other two mares were standing. Tail slapped his hide sharply, and a sharp snort escaped his nostrils. You two are welcome to stay here in Felwood until I have enough forces to take down the Era, and eventually the isle. But I am not going to attack during the winter. It's too harsh of weather for normal horses to attack, and I don't care if I'm immortal or not, I will not put a perfectly good army out in this weather, the Lead said, quite calmly, though his mind argued back and forth.
We wait for winter.. wait for winter. [wait? why wait? we should attack now!!] We're too weak as a herd, we need more members... [you are the one who is weak, hannibal.. you are the one who isn't being rational!] Rational, RATIONAL? You shut up, you. I am being perfectly ratio - [you are the one arguing with your subconscious here...]
Hannibal's mind went silent finally, and he snorted, shaking his head, as if trying to make the voice get out for good. Blue eyes fell upon Davi and Aeon once again, and he pawed the ground. I have nothing else to discuss with you two, so go do as you please. Just stay within calling range, the stallion turned quickly, heading toward the frozen over stream at the foot of the mountain range, his head hung low.
Beside Davi, Aeon snorted quite angrily. I believe he is quite mad. I can tell, he is mentally unstable, the young mare snickered slightly, her tail flicking slowly behind her body. The rumors would be true, then, if he were mad. Many horses whispered that he heard voices, that he spoke back to these voices. Aeon wondered if Davi and herself would go mad sooner or later, or if it was the grief of losing Tuula that drove the old stallion to insanity.
Joker glanced to Devil, ears tilted at her words. We can not go during the winter. We would not make it in these conditions, he turned his head to Haize, We will just have to wait for spring. If you can wait that long. He knew that something could happen during that time, and knowing Hannibal, something was bound to happen. Little did Joker know, Aeon, who was much more experienced with the abilities acquired from her mother, had heard more of his conversation that Davi had, and that his little plan was unearthed. The large Draught shifted slightly where he stood, nostrils quivering. In the mean time, let us go find some food. We are not immortal as Hannibal, and hunger could be the death of any horse this winter.

Devil’s eyes followed those of the other mare, watching with uneasiness for a few seconds before turning her attention back to Joker. A short shiver ran its course down her back, but she paid it no further attention. Winter was always the toughest season – every year it visited, and every year it left with the souls of a large amount of horses. The mare’s nostrils flared slightly, her tail flicking quick enough to make a muted, whip-like sound and send several snowflakes flying off into the breeze. What if she doesn’t make it past Winter.. |
She asked, glancing at the Era for a few seconds, almost as if sizing her up. She didn’t seem weak and frail, but she certainly was not like the Hellhounds that conversed just beyond the corner. If one of them lost their temper, they could probably fry the poor thing.. but would they? Giving it further thought, Devil simply shook her head, realizing that Hannibal probably wouldn’t dispose of the creature right away. No, he seemed too cruel for that – he’d probably keep her quite a while to use her for negotiation or blackmail. Either way, the chances were high, in her opinion, that the Era would survive a few more months with the herd. Nevermind. She said, quickly growing silent again since she had no further commentary to make on the matter. It was then that Joker suggested they go find food – good idea. Right now, she wanted to get some distance between them and the little family reunion. Before she made the decision to stay any further amount of time, she needed to tell Joker what she’d recently been up to – something that could sever her ties to the herd, should Hannibal find out. Damnit, Devil – keep it together. No, you can’t keep it together with those little Era halflings running around. Can't Eras hear conversations? Damn the wind, damn it all. They won't find out. Making a deal with the Zunden leader – ha! Was she crazy? No, she had been completely sane at the time of negotiation. But was she sane now? Thoughts clouded the female’s head, but she shook them away as soon as they came. It’d be an issue she would discuss later.. if she discussed it at all. Perhaps it’d be better for all of them that the entire thing be left untold. After all, it wasn’t as if they knew exactly what she was yet; she hadn’t even had a proper introduction with the leader of Felwood – well, not the current one. She begged to differ with her father and his tactics. Her thoughts dictated her argument with precision, but Davi was wise enough to be delicate in the matter; she dare not speak such dispute aloud. Hannibal’s sanity was already on the verge of snapping entirely in two – she would not tempt it further by boiling the rage he seemed to fuel from these days. The wisest time is now. The winter is hard upon the Era as it is the normals! They are weak and populated minutely. The three of us could take great advantage of their weakness now; screw all of these normal horses!
Davi snorted, hooves pawing at the frozen turf as her father left. Her thoughts itched to be spoken; they were not used to such cruel restraint.
Bright eyes narrowed upon Hannibal’s receding silhouette before turning gaze towards he rtwin. A sly smile curved upon her kissers at Aeon’s words. The devilish mare could not help but chuckle in unison with her counterpart. “He is quite unstable. His insanity could be to our advantage in ridding ourselves of the Era for good, but,” Davi paused with a serious expression overtaking her visage. “Aeon, I worry such instability could prove a liability in the long run. We have to try and make this attack happen soon if we want to be successful.”
More than the fears of his instability were burdening the young mare though. She, also, feared him to still love Tuula in a way that he might be unable to go through with the attack. The mare snorted again as she shook her crown free of such burdens. They would deal with such matters when the time came.
Attention soon turned towards something in the far distance. There was a foul wind coming from the Era’s territory. She could not decipher the wind’s message clearly, but she knew it was bad. Eyes flickered back upon her twin. “Foolish things they are – have yet to block me out of their drama as I have them from ours.” Ah yes, that was where Davi had extreme strength with the wind – creating blockades and barriers.
Haize began to tremble fiercely once more as she overheard Devil’s words to Joker. Would she make it? The young mare found herself fretting for her life yet again. Her head turned uneasily towards where her homelands resided in the far distance. She tried her best to beckon out to them – wind rushing around the fae and out towards the plateau only to be shot back at her in fierce blows again and again. It seemed a hopeless endeavor. Watery eyes glanced at her current “babysitters” as they began their search for food. Silence was all that came from the speckled mare, who was looking more and more like her mother these days, as she followed the duo. The safety she had once felt was entirely gone at this point.
