Zoey ..just trying to figure this out.. The water and grass squished and squashed beneath her hooves. Her once sandy colored hooves and pure white colored socks were now black with mud and covered in lose strands of grass. The low valley was a swamp, filled with water and mud from the melting snow and flash floods that were once snow storms. The sky, for once in a long time, was now a clear pleasant blue with a few clouds hanging around. Birds now flew out of their nests, happy to stretch their wings and feel the warm drafts of air under their feathers. Zoey, of course, could only feel a tinge of annoyance towards the small animals who would never feel mud sliding and slurping around their feet.
Her dark chocolate coat lay in messy layers as her winter coat began to fall out and the new mud began to cake itself on her skin. The once rich black tail lay dragging at her feet, now tangled and twisted in knots. Her mane was not much different, but she had been trying to keep her mane long and flowing. Zoey was not adjusting well to the new environment. She was used to be fed and pampered, feeling clean and perfect at every moment, and now she's here, covered head to toe in mud and sweat.
At least she was adjusting somewhat. She was now feeding herself, and was able to find some food that kept her satisfied. She had been able to navigate her way out of trouble until now. She trudged through the mud and slop until she was finally able to reach a dryer spot. Trees began to poke out and she found a small forest where she came to rest by a tree. She lowered herself to the ground and sighed. Would she ever get used to this place?

The ivory mare had come to Belle Valle today to recruit new herd members for the dying herd she belonged to. Almost every horse in the herd was killed during a Zunden attacked. Those damned horses caused more trouble than they were worth. Even Phantom's leaders had died, leaving the heir to the herd and her half brother. Now there was an internal conflict between the two siblings. Phantom personally supported Char, the true heir to the throne. Phantom was the only thing keeping her from being attacked by her brother. If Phantom stepped out of the picture there would be mass chaos.
Phantom let out a heavy sigh as she jogged along, her heavily pregnant belly slowing her down. The foal was due any day now, which wasn't something that she was looking forward to. She hated children, never wanted any, and now she was stuck with one. Her plan now was to abandon it when it was born. She didn't care what happened to it. Crows could eat it for all she cared. Maybe, if the little creature was lucky, there would be someone that came along, willing to adopt it and treat it as their own. That was highly unlikely. The mare shook her head, not wanting to think about the stupid little thing that had ruined her life and made her all around unhappy.
Finally, in the distance, Phantom saw a horse resting right beside a tree. So there were horses here finally. That was a good sign. All winter horses had been very hard to find, all of them had gone to seek out food since the supply was so low this year. Luckily for Phantom her herd was small enough that the little food they had in Rocas had sustained everyone for the whole entire winter.
The Arab slowed her gait as the tree and the horse grew closer. She let out a friendly whicker, letting the resting horse know that she meant no harm. "Hello." Phantom said with a smile on her face as she halted several strides away from the horse on the ground.

Just another lonely night. Amber eyes watched the two mares diligently, nostrils flaring softly.
"Hello as well, should say." The large hellion emerged from the shadows, a smirk planted on his maw. Aro dipped his head quietly to the mare on the earth before turning his attention to Phantom. "Well Phantom deary, how's that herd of your's? I see your about to pop with, Anil's child, perhaps?' Amber eyes narrowed with a smirk. "Oh but dear isn't he dead?" The kiger snorted before turning his attention to Zoey.
"And might I ask your name, darling?" The stallion gave a half grin. "What's a pretty creature like you doing out here by yourself? There could be a mean little stallion come along and take advantage of you. Wouldn't want that, would we?" The palomino over smiled.
The large stag looked over her small stature. She was much smaller than him, meaning he could probably overpower her easily. And with Phantom being pregnant, things were leaning towards Aro's favor.
The mare looked rather young, Aro decided. She would make a delightful asset to his herd also. With her coat, he decided, she would carry his lineage well. Although he was doubtful he'd have more than one foal from her due to the impact of winter. But his land was very large, he decided, and he needed a couple more horses for his herd. Jigsaw could have fun with this mare also, Aro remembered. The mare would be perfect for his herd.

speech ! thoughts !
Yes, now that spring was here, he finally decided to leave the Rocas territory, and hope he could find some members for the herd. He knew Char could deal without him for a little bit, it wasn't like she was some filly that needed a protector all the time. Ears flicked atop the brilliant bay's head, gentle eyes glancing around the very familiar place of Belle Valle, traveling through one of the many forests littering this part of the isle. The stallion's nostrils quivered, smelling the earthy scent the ground gave off as his hooves trodded through the slush that was now left from the melting snow. Coat twitched slightly, as droplets from melting icicles that still hung from the trees dropped down upon his back. The cool water slid down effortessly, the Thoroughbred having almost shed his winter coat.
His ears suddenly caught the tones of Phantom, another of the Rocas herd, speaking to some unknown creature. Zandarkand tried to detect where her voice was carrying from, pausing in his wanderings to listen. However, the trees seemed to absorb any and all sound around him, and he snorted in frustration. Finally, once another horse began to speak, did he pick up on their location. Turning to his left, he continued onward, toward the unknown stallion who had spoken, and toward where Phantom's voice had come from. Finally, Zandarkand stumbled upon the trio, eyes going from the mare on the ground, to Phantom, to this strange stallion. The ravens spoke of this stallion.. now what was his name again? It started with an A... ah yes, Aro.
Ears flicked back against the copper colored horse, and eyes narrowed. |
I believe, Aro, that the only mean stallion here would be you, the stallion's words were hissed out, and a feeling of hatred toward this stallion seemed to seethe into ever fiber of his being. Tail swatted behind him, throwing up little splotches of mud upon his hind legs, not like anyone could notice with how much already caked the stallion's thin legs. Why don't you slither back to your territory and leave this poor mare, and Phantom, alone? We don't want anymore of your kind walking this island. There's too many as it is, he lifted a forehoof from the soggy ground, nostrils flaring ever so slightly, as he threw his head up. His hoof was placed upon the ground ever so slightly, so that no more mud was flung at anyone.[/blockquote] ! knockout lil' wayne ft. nicki minaj! four hundred, nine ! character and table credited to lizzeh
