ZANE
The waves crashed restlessly against the shore, taking apart the sand and dragging it back and forth. The white foam bubbled at the edges of the waves, waiting to land on shore as the waves grew larger. Sharp ridges rose up and down as the ocean growled along with the weather. Dark and heavy clouds hung lazily above the darkening ocean, just waiting to let loose the rain. A brisk and cold wind cut through the air, slicing through the sand and harassing the sea even more. Rain finally began to fall, creating a dotted pattern along the ocean and sand. The wind settled with the rain, and the ocean calmed, now just a rolling mass of water.
The thin bay stallion walked on heavy feet as the rain soaked into his skin. His rich black mane, now longer than ever before, clung to his coat. His forelock hung over his eyes blocking most of his vision. He constantly tossed his head, but the hair stuck to his forehead. His coat had turned a shade darker as the rain came down harder. The stallion cringed as it pelted his skin like sharp blades. His ears were flat against his head as he walked slowly around the small bushes and down sand dunes. He stood quietly in front of the sea when he reached the beach's edge, staring at the waves as they crashed against his hooves. He lowered his head and let the salty water wash over his head, the salt stinging into his face.
Zane lifted his head out of the water. The rain had begun to soften, now only misting. Zane let his head hang low, just barely above the water, and took in the strong smell of salt and sand. Zane hadn't been to this beach since he arrived four years ago. He hadn't tasted this same salt or felt the same sand around his hooves in four years. Four years. So few years held so much in them. Zane cringed inwardly, remembering the first few years of his life, his desperate swim for freedom, and his gut wrenching feelings of emptiness and loss. He raised his head, looking out across the dark blue and gray ocean, almost able to see where he was once from.

HIT 'EM RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES !!! Andar.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] Andar watched the thin bay stallion with intentness. He was small, lean, and normally Andar would have passed him up and never given him a second glance. But Andar's desperation was highly evident. His want for the isle was in it's prime. If he did not act now, it would be much too late. This was a fantastic time. Orpheus, who was also trying to do the same, was alone - no herd, no allies to back him up. This gave Andar the perfect chance to get ahead. And Zane's cynical, dark-like attitude was perfect. Like putty in his hooves, Andar could move Zane into his perfect minion. Time was needed, however, and cards must be played right.
Powerful? Not all. Some yes. But most are just forming, and long time since the elementals have reigned. Thus they are in a weak state. The only true elementals to worry about are the Era. Good intentions they have, but down deep be they evil. Not those to mess with. A challenge, surely.
Andar thought about what he should say next. He was impatient, especially now with his eagerness on high. He looked Zane over yet again beneath his thick forelock, and went on.
Shelter you are wanting? Land I have. 'Less you are wanting to spend some alone time brooding about what it is you be leaving behind. Safer it shall be in my place among the trees.

ZANE
Zane paused as he heard the hoof steps crunching in the moist sand. He turned and raised his head slowly to face the stallion before him. He felt the cold really beginning to settle in as the rain stopped, but he didn't move. Zane didn't say anything at first, he just stared, calculating, deciding what to say, or whether he should say anything at all. He really wasn't much for speaking. But he smiled anyway, "I guess you could say that." He winced when the stallion mentioned missing home, something he could never imagine himself doing."Oh, I'm not missing home," Zane said as he looked out across the ocean,"no, I'm just leaving something behind."
He turned back to the powerful looking stallion while listening. "Yes, I've heard something about them, the elementals, they must be quite powerful," he remarked while staring at the stallion, trying to figure him out. He was always cautious with new horses, as with anything really.
Zane nodded, "Well then I guess it's nice to meet you, Andar. I'm Zane," he said. He shook his head, trying to see past his long black forelock. He looked up when a gull screeched in the clearing sky, and then back down to Andar.

ZANE
Zane could see Andar looking him over. He knows he's not much to look at, he's really just a pile of bones and skin. He has never really done much to gain muscle since he arrived. The first year of his life always kept him from that, but that's why he was here. He had decided it was time to end his moping, his terror or his past. He was leaving it where he found it. Andar was his perfect way out, his perfect way to leave it all behind him. He was not going to let the opportunity pass. He nodded as Andar talked about the elementals. Zane had never really heard much about them since he arrived, but that they were powerful, and what Andar had explained earlier. He should've know they'd be evil with all that power.
Zane paused with Andar's offer. "Shelter would be nice, might I ask where?," he replied, wondering what it was like in this shelter of trees.
