Teh waves crashed against the shore with great force, sending teh water flying through the air. Jaques made sure to keep his distance from the water, even if it meant walking in the snow, though lucily the snow was not as deep here as it was further inland. He shook his thick coat and looked out over the ocean. Frankly he fid not give a damn about the happenings in the island, it was none of his buisness to fool around in the matters of others. Though, unless he could get some entertainment out of it. He recalled quite an adventure that happened a long time ago in the gaellic lands, but his thoughts were interupted as a spray of seawater hit him, soaking part of his neck ad chilling him to the bone. His thick winter coat was no use in water, for a moment he thought about seeking out another horse, maybe have a chat and laugh at their foolishness.

The Arab made his way through the snow onto the red sands of Spiagga del Nord. He highly doubted any other horses would be here this time of year, but something told him to go anyway. In the winter Lassan made frequents rounds around the unclaimed lands looking for horses who needed somewhere safe to stay for the cold months. This was the best time to pick up new herd members.
Just as he was about to turn back, he saw a bay stallion up ahead. Well now this looked promising. Lassan let out a loud whinny. He waited in anticipation with his ears perked. Would the stranger answer him back?

Jaques heard a whinny. He turned slowly around, trying to appear as bothered and lazy as possible. His eyes searched the beach and found the stranger. It was a dainty looking horse, didn't look like one who could survive very well in this harsh climate by his own. Jaques cocked his head to the side in geniune interest at the stranger, from the smell he could tell that it was a native of the islands, but he could not comprehend how such a thin and stringy horse could survive here on its own. He gave a gruff whinny back, beckoning the stranger to come closer.

Lassan perked his ears as he heard the stallion give a gruff response. Maybe it was intuitin, but Lassan kept alert around this stallion. He was always more on gaurd when faced with another stallion. It was just so hard to trust horses in these hard times, especially stallions since they were the ones doing the most damage it seemed like.
"Hello." Lassan said with a bob of his head. This horse looked ... different. It was almost as if he did not belong here on the island. "I don't often see other horses out here during this time o' year." Lassan commented, trying to start a conversation with the bay stranger.

Jaques stood relaxed as the stranger neared, he kept one ear turned towards the approaching stallion and the other turned to the water, just in case a great wave suddenly came rolling in. He shook his neck quickly, he would have to get as much water off now as possible, before he got too cold or got a cold. Jaques returned the strangers greeting with a slight nod "Good even to you too stranger" He turned his full attention to the stallion, now that the wind had died down he felt safe form the water. "Indeed, one would be quite a fool to be caught off-guard by the savage seas out here." he gave a small chuckle.

As the stallion mentioned the sea, Lassan turned his head to the choppy waters. In the summer months the sea was a beautiful teal green colour that was very inviting. Now the water was an odd grey-blue with white capped waves that crashed onto the shore with a violent sound. It looks so frigid and uninviting. It was amazing the difference a season could make.
The Arab turned his head back to the stallion and said "I suppose I shall intorduce myself. My name is Lassan, leader of Terra delle Liberta." He added a small bob of his head to say hello. "I presume you have no herd?" he inquired. The stallion was eager to invite this stag to his land. he needed more stallions since most of the herd's population consisted of mares.

Jaques turned his ears away from the stranger, showing no interest at all as he presented himself. However as he mentioned the word 'leader', the brown horse gave a little flicker of attention towards Lassan again. "Nay I care not for your name, as far as I know you owe me nothing" He turned himself a bit away from Lassen, though keeping a quite analytical eye on him. This stallion must have a reason to inquire about his status, perhaps there was high tensions among the herds recently? Jaques wouldn't know, mostly long-term company led to folly. Getting caught up in herd relations was not sonmething he particulary desired, though it was often amusing to watch the drama play out, all world's a stage indeed.
He turned himself towards Lassen again, his mind still not settled on exactly what folly to choose. He gave a small nod of aknowledgement "I am without a herd, but I am a traveller not a loner as I assume you were thinking"

Lassan tilted his head a bit at the brute's words. Interesting. Nevertheless, that was not going to keep Lassan from conversing with him. The stallion kept his mouth shut as the other stallion started to speak again. He was smart. Smarter than most horses Lassan crossed. He admired that. "I assume that you know my obvious question then?" Lassan asked with a raise of his brow. He needed more stallions in his herd. It was composed of mostly mares, and Lassan could not deal with all the estrogen.
"By the way, do you have a calling?" Lassan asked, forgetting that he did not ask for the other's name. He did not care if the other stag did not want Lassan calling, Lassan wanted his. He always found it a bit awkward when he carried on a conversation but did not know tiwh whom he was speaking.

OOC: I'm so sorry! D8
Jaques noted the stallions interest in his speech and felt very pleased with himself, it was nice to have some company from time to time. "Perhaps I do, perhaps I do not 'tis a very strange question I suppose, not one anyone sane might ask except in the rarest occurences" he nodded to himself and took a couple of steps closer to Lassan, placing himself in front of the stranger "But now to answer your second question, I have been called many things, fool, melancholy, a weasel who sucks eggs, a bawling beast, a burden and full of matter, but my so-called name would be Jaques"

The ebony stallion contemplated the stag's next words. He was a very interesting horse. Lassan never had met anyone quite like this. In fact, it was like a breath of fresh air to the Arab. It was nice to know that there were still unique horses in this world, and they weren't all drab like most the equines Lassan met this past year.
Lassan's audits twitched as the stranger began to speak once more, this time offering his name; Jacques. An interesting name no doubt, bu then again what horse on this island didn't have an interesting name? "Pleasure to meet you Jacques." he said, glad that he finally knew that stallion's name.
"Obviously since you know why I have come here, I will not waste my time beating around the bush. If you would like to join my herd, just say so and I will show you where it is. It is a very large herd in a very safe land. Most the members are mares, but there are a fair share of stallions. A large bonus to living in Liberta is you may come and go as you please from the land. What do you think?"

Jaques did not waste any time thinking about answering the question, however he made sure to maintain a calm and not particualrily rushed voice "It would be quite interesting to saty with you for a while I suppose, and as I see you understand that I may one day dissapear for reasons none of your concern, and that you shall not pity my absence of safety. If death is not challenged, then death will not come, unless you are a particularily foolish or unlucky sort" he took a look around him, turning around a few times to made sure that he had seen what was to see around him. Then, standing before Lassan again, he gave him a little playful shove, before trotting up on a sandy hill "So where is this gathering of horses that you invite me to?"

A small smile appeared on Lassan's ebony maw as the stallion spoke. He was glad to have another stallion coming to Liberta, even if it was for a short time. He did not mind if the stallion disappeared for awhile, or if he even chose to come back at all. Either way, he was always welcomed back into Terra Delle Liberta with open arms.
"Tis not far from here." Lassan told him. "If we trot the whole way we will reach it in ten or so minutes." Liberta was in a very nice location. It was near all the claiming grounds, not too far and not too close. It was very convenient for horses to come and go. It had access to the ocean and was fortified by towering canyon walls with only two ways into the land. It certainly was a safe place to be.
