Lynx jumped back with a squeal as the filly suddenly burst into flames, releasing her hind from her teeth. Her ears pinned and green eyes narrowed hatefully at her as she circled, like a wolf about to strike. The chestnut's ears went forward, then straight back again as the Zuden called for her father. Lynx's head snapped over to Erik as he contintued to try and daunt the filly, and surpressed the urge to roll her eyes and sighed inwardly. Sometimes, he pushed it too far. The arab snorted as someone bumped her and was about to turn on them, when she noticed who it was, and froze. But he paid her no mind though, and went to straight to Erik. She watched all that went on carefully, anxiety rolling off her in waves. And then suddenly Erik was on the ground and a fire ring sprung up around the pair, and Lynx had to step back from the intensity of the flames, her eyes stinging from the heat. "Erik!" she called in alarm, pacing on the outskirts of the flame walls that surrounded the pair, fear for her son causing her heart to flutter like a caged bird.
Seeing that there was no way in other than pointlessly hurting herself, she finally stopped, her nostrils flaring and bodice trembling with anxiety. And then thats when she noticed that the filly was still standing there, unprotected by her distracted sire. The arab pinned her ears and snorted, stamping her hoof on the now barren earth as she gazed over at the filly. If Aiden was attacking her child, then she was intitled to harm his. Lynx smirked lightly over at her, taking the offensive as she circled the filly, her head low but ears forward, a dark snicker issuing from her. "Here, kitty kitty kitty," she purred, before the little mare suddenly lept at her throat with an angry squeal.

{ Don't put your life in someone's hands, Because they're bound to steal it away. Don't hide your mistakes, 'Cause they'll find you, Burn you. Then he said If you want to get out alive, Run for your life. } Firefly | [/blockquote] The younger mare snickered as her sire approached, pushing aside the old mare like the elder Firefly knew she was. He budged on to Erik, who suddenly had a ring of fire flame about him. Firefly turned to face the old mare who called her tauntingly. Ears drew backward as she shook her crania wildly, sparks flying from her un-lit mane.
She felt the mare's teeth wanting to take grip of her throat, to cause the damage that the young mare had done. She felt her pass by, and aimed a kick at her front right leg dauntingly. "Well old bitch, I wouldn't taunt the kitty. Kitty's like revenge, and always go for who's taunting them." An evil smirk creeped across her brown lips as she watched the arabian.
"Oh, don't make me mad. You don't want to see me mad, bitch." Firefly was circling the mare by now, her fluorescent red eyes rolling over her scarred body hatefully.
Firefly cocked her head, much like an owl does. The Zunden charged at the mare, her nostrils flaring with smoke. She aimed to ram the mare to unbalance her, but with her small weight, it wasn't much good. She screamed in frustration, her patience wearing away fast. "Stupid bitch!" She screamed, her coat itching for her to just go a full out psychotic rage on the pathetic old mare. But not yet, not here, not now, Firefly screamed in her mind, shaking her cranium furiously.

Erik _________________ »» Because of the fire lord's failed shots at him, Erik figured that this would be easy. He wasn't impressed with what he had seen so far. Yes, the bending of an element like fire and being able to call it up when ever one chose was very interesting in itself, but in this situation there was no time to marvel at wonders of the world such as that. He had heard talk from the ravens and other horses he happened to silently pass by that this Aiden fellow was one of the most feared horses in the land. Erik couldn't understand that. Playing with fire was dangerous, but not when it could not even hit its target. Erik had to hold back a laugh. This fire lord really was pathetic.
»» Erik was quickly shocked when Aiden sent a whip of flame at him that licked his hindquarters for a brief moment. The ebony stallion swiftly changed direction and began going counter clockwise in the ring of fire that the Zunden had conjured only minutes prior to his seemingly new found ability to hit his mark. A thought then struck Erik. What if this stallion was smart enough to do this on purpose? It would have been a brilliant idea for him to act as if he had poor aim, when really he was just toying with Erik and warming himself up for a real display of power.
»» Erik's quick conclusion was pretty much confirmed when Aiden sent a throng of flame that wrapped itself around Erik's hind leg. The stag's emerald optics grew wider as the searing heat of the flame penetrated his flesh. The true severity of the situation was finally apparent to Erik. This Zunden had, in fact, been toying with his mind, trying to lull him into a false sense of security in knowing that he could dodge his attacks. Erik was angry with himself now for not seeing the truth of the matter prior to this. Now this really was a fight for his life. His life did not matter though. He wanted to save his mother. She had more reason to exist than he did. She meant so much to so many horses who truly loved her. Erik did not have that. It wouldn't be a loss if he was gone. If something horrible happened to Lynx, it would be known around the herds since she was affiliated in some way or another with the lot of them.
»» As Erik had to keep turning on his heels to avoid Aiden's attacks, he caught sight of his mother through the wall of flame. He wished that Aiden would have never have shown up and Firefly was still the only one that he was fighting. She was an easy target. She fought with only rage and was blind to true battle tactics. Erik almost felt disappointed in Aiden for not teaching her how to fight properly. Of course, the probably never even needed a reason to fight before. Just their names drove fear into horses, let alone the sight of a Zunden. They had only worked off of fear by intimidation before. Now they had horses stepping up to challenge them. It was probably a giant blow to their over-inflated egos.
»» Why his mother did not just run, Erik would never know. She was very fast and could easily run away from Firefly, who seemed to be doing a poor job of fighting, and back to safety. As Erik moved past the area that Lynx was closest to, he yelled at her, wanting her to get away. "Get out of here now you stubborn imbecile!" She had not heeded his warnings before, so now he was changing tactics, deciding to degrade her which would hopefully make her listen, if not mad enough at him to get away from the imminent danger that she was in.
»» Unfortunately, while Erik was worrying about his mother, he let his guard down a bit as well as performing his evasive maneuvers that he had perfected. His mistake was made clear to him in a very short time. Next thing he knew, a knout of flame had wrapped around his legs and quickly moved up one side of his neck until it reached his face. The pain was unbearable. He would have rather just dropped dead than feel his flesh smolder right on his face. Even though he was in this position for mere seconds, it felt like an eternity. Soon enough the excruciating pain had subsided some, which was probably due to all the dead nerves, but what made it worse was he could now feel that there was missing flesh on his cheek bone. Fire on raw bone felt even worse than the initial pain of simmering skin. The only thing he did to try and save part of his face was that he shut his eye as tightly as he could before he ran as fast as he could manage in his decrepit state. With all the power he could muster, she slammed his whole body into Aiden, proceeding to rub the flame out on his coat. He quickly found out that Zunden, when fighting, or possibly all the time, were very, very hot. It could be compared to the feeling of standing on hot asphalt in the midsummer without the protection of sandals. From the trauma that Erik had just recently endured, Aiden's heat felt even worse, which caused Erik to recoil like a cat on a hot tin roof. He backed himself up at a speed that only could be managed when one was fighting for their very life. He could fell the teasing dance of the flame on his sweaty hindquarters. To hell with it. he thought as he gritted his teeth as continued to back through the intimidating wall of flame.
»» The brief burning sensation he experienced as he backed through the ring of fire was minuscule compared to the inhumane actions of the fire lord. Erik was just glad to have more distance between himself and that bastard. He quickly spun around, his frantic eyes searching for his mother. He lifted his head back up to the regal way in which he normally carried as he strode toward his mother and the little Zunden she was fighting. "Leave now!" he yelled at his mother in a powerful voice that would have certainly intimidated most horses. He was hoping that she would listen for once and run off. He would surely follow close behind her. He wasn't the fastest but he was a master at blending in with the shadows. He had done it his whole life and it had proved to be very useful several different times.
»» It did not dawn on Erik that he was probably quite a sight to see. There was not much blood, seeing as the extreme temperatures had instantly clotted it, but with what little blood there was it had mostly been rubbed off on Aiden's liver chestnut coat. Patches of hair were missing from his underbelly and legs, as well as several spots of singed hair on his hindquarters and back. On the more severe burns, smoke was rapidly billowing off of them from contact with the bitter chill of the winter air. His forelegs looks as if they had been rubbed raw, almost mimicking the look of a bad rope burn. With every step he took, there was a distinguished limp. His tail lost about six inches from being burnt off, which was now frayed like a rope at the ends where the fire had toyed with it. There were a few bite marks, as well as a laceration from the edge of one of Aiden's hooves on the side of his body and his chest. The left side of his neck had been skinned near his crest from Aiden's teeth. Luckily, it had only taken off the hair and first few layers of skin so it would heal fast without a scar. His right shoulder had odd fire licks that almost looked as if a cougar had barely swiped him with its powerful claws. The right side of his neck was much worse. Down near the base was burnt hair, similar to that on his back. The fire's damage got worse as it went up his neck to his poll. Near the middle of his neck the hair was missing, the normally black flesh was a funny shade between purple and maroon. Closer to where his neck attached to his head, the skin did not even look like skin anymore. It was mangled and twisted into unnatural looking shapes. Freshly burned heat blisters protruded out of the twisted flesh, making it even more unpleasant than it already was. The disfigurement of the flame continued on to his once beautiful face. The only good thing about the mutilated side of his face was that his eye still remained intact and fully functional. There was less to be said about the area surrounding his eye. Because of the way that the fire had burned him, it had pulled some of the flesh under his eye down a bit giving him a wide-eyed look. Though the skin remained, only to be destroyed by the heat, there were spot where it was missing. The sharp angle of his zygomatic arch was exposed, extending down to the bottom of his cheek. Part of the bone above his eye also now graced his features. The skin was not missing as it extended on his forehead, but it was very thin, making some of the arteries and veins visible beneath the strange looking pinkish-purple skin. As the eye moved down toward his muzzle, it could be seen that the mandible was uncovered. By his nostril, the skin leading upward near his nasal passage was missing, leaving an abhorrent looking gap. To sum it up, Erik looked absolutely repulsive, like something that came straight from hell. To make it all the worse the stench of burning flesh was thick in the air, enough as to cause one to gag if they caught a whiff of it.
»» Through everything the young stallion had been through in the past half hour, the adrenaline was still coursing through his veins, giving him the endless will to fight if he needed to. At the current moment all he cared about was, first, getting his mother, preferably unscathed, out of there, and then he would worry about himself.
»» The Fire Ford beamed with a morbid delight as the obsidian stallion writhed with pain. It almost made Aiden a bit mad when the horse did not even utter a sound in all of this suffering. But, the look on his face was enough. Aiden obtained such a pleasure from watching the anguish of others. It wasn't just him though. That was how all Zunden were. It was a breed trait, just like many other things that made the Zunden feared and hated by other horses on the island.
»» Aiden was sure that this once cocksure stallion was now in his iron grasp, his prisoner in the jail of fire. He was Aiden's to control and command, to torture and provoke until his dying day. Aiden liked this very much. He hadn't had this much fun in a long time. He almost wished that the rest of his herd could be here to join in the festivities. At least Firefly was here. It would do her some good to get some practice in before they started anything major. She was still very young and naive with much to learn about fighting and her powers in general. What caused Aiden to worry was her temper. Yes, temper was another thing that Zunden were known for, but they could control it. There was no use in fighting with a blind rage. It would not get you anywhere. It would cause rash decisions to be made and idiot moves that could mean something terrible for one's self. The Fire Lord feared that Firefly would do something like this. She was thickheaded enough not to take anything aiden had told her previously seriously until she found out for herself that he was right all along. A typical young mare was all that she was.
»» Aiden's thoughts about his daughter had distracted him. That was a fault entirely his own. He never really cared about her much until this past year for some reason. He tried to tell himself not to get emotionally attached to her. That was not who he is. He is the stoic, respected leader of the greatest herd on the island, not a caing father. The little emotion he had felt for Firefly just now had distracted him enough that the ebony horse barreled into him and sent him to the ground. Aiden's eyes seemed to blaze, the reflection of the wall of fire only adding to the intensity of it all. Before the stallion had quickly backed away and out of the circle of flame, Aiden had felt him bite down on his neck, taking away a chunk of hot skin. Those damn horses. When would they learn? Aiden proceeded to storm after the stag. He would not be getting away. The Fire Lord quickly got to his feet and shook off his coat before letting the barrier of fire down. His maroon optics caught sight of the masked stallion walking toward the chestnut and Firefly. Aiden sneered and yelled to Firefly "Don't let 'em leave!" When she did not respond, he feared that she was letting anger get the best of her. This was not good. He would have to pull her from her fight and show her the correct way. It did not matter now to Aiden if these simpletons lived or died. Their injuries would be enough to cause any horse, even the hot shot warrior types, to stay away from the Zunden. Perhaps letting a few live and breaking them was just as good as killing them. It would only instill fear into the other horses, where as if they had died, others may never know where they had disappeared to. The ravens never got any news from Fuoco unless they heard a phoenix or eagle talking amongst themselves. Aiden hated ravens more than anything. If one was even sighted in the land, he had it terminated. They were no good rats who only lived to seek information and gossip. He also knew of their alliance with the neutral and light herds, serving as a spying and message system between them. His only fear now was that they would some how catch wind of Firefly' stupidity, which would in turn give the normal horses a new found strength and will to fight with the Zunden. Aiden would never allow that.
»» "FIREFLY!" he screamed at her as he swiftly ran over to them. Let those others go. Right now he was just angry with out naive Firefly could be. she needed to learn not to fight like that. If she did listen though, she would try to conjure up a ring of flame, trapping the black and his female companion once again. Then he could really teach her how to fight. If she did not follow his instruction, they would get away and Firefly would have a long few weeks of training ahead of her.

The mare couldn't help but feel annoyed by the filly's little jibes, her forest green eyes narrowing to snake-like slits as she gazed evenly back at the Zuden. She already had hate for her rooted deeply - her arrogance was extremely irritating. Too bad her bite had missed her throat, this could have easily been ended then and there. And now she sported a smarting leg, a bruise already beginning to form from where the filly had struck. Well, at least it was better than having another marred shoulder. The arab watched the filly carefully as she circled closely around her, and she allowed her this rather than lashing out at her while she had the chance. Besides, her mind was a few paces away - towards where her son and the Zuden lord fought. Oh, she hoped that he would be alright. And it seemed that way when he heard him call her a "stubborn imbecile." Lynx couldn't help but give a one-sided grin at that; perhaps she was, but that wasn't going to stop her from giving the filly a little lesson.
"That would be most unfortunate," Lynx replied with dry sarcasm, trying to keep a sudden air of calm though her bodice was rigid with tension as the Zuden took another lap around her. She turned her head and watched her distrustingly, her eyes still narrowed and ears flattened on her skull. Her breath quickened and frosty air came out of her nostrils in more frequent puffs, as the filly tilted her head to the side. It reminded her of a raven, really, when they got a piece of information they hadn't heard before, which wasn't often. And suddenly the filly charged forward and rammed into her, and she gave a soft grunt as she side-stepped with the force, but otherwise it did nothing to effect her. The Zuden's inmaturaty soon showed through as she began to throw some sort of tantrum. Pathetic. Hadn't this filly's parents taught her better?
The arab grit her teeth and did a stretching rear, so that her bodice was almost completely vertical. Her hooves clawed at the air, as she made an aim to the filly's skull, but the sudden appearance of Erik made her freeze. He was an absolute disaster - skin hung off him in various places, and in other spots, it was completely absent. Patches of fur were burned clean off of his skin. Lynx's face fell, her expression shocked and forelorn. Her poor baby! She shouldn't have let this happen, it was all her fault. Her heart thundered in her ears, so much that she couldn't even hear what he said. A pained, mournful whinny came from the mare. But soon her eyes flashed and she came back to her senses as the Zuden lord rose to his feet and told his daughter not to let them leave. Her legs began to shake in the effort of holding her weight, and so with a snort, she slammed down her hooves, hopefully right ontop of the filly's skull. Then they would leave, whatever happened, they would leave. She couldn't deal with this any longer, no matter how her rising lust for revenge told her to stay. Erik was right, she was an idiot. But only an idiot that wanted to protect her son.
