History: Taj is not an island born horse. He was born in the stables of a poor man in Spain, who found his mother starving and wandering the streets of the city without anyone keeping an eye on her. His mother was pregnant at the time, to an Andalusian stallion from a city on the road before for her. She had arrived in the city Taj was born in to be a gift for a rich man, but she broke out of the van skittishly and took off down the streets. The man driving the fan was not able to retrieve her, and sent along another horse in her place, pretending this was the gift that had been sent for the man. The man who managed to catch Taj's mother thought his blood was under suspect as he had paint markings, though he went on with life, simply considering that odd blood was possible. After weaning, Taj was sold to a richer man in another city, and he left his mother and first life forever. The man was a horse dealer, who sold him to an Italian man. It took several years for him to get sold however, and he spoke very good Spanish by the time he was shipped. It was on Taj's shipping to Italy, he was three at the time, that the ship wrecked on the shores of the island.
Taj's time on the island, though two years past now, has been mostly with himself as an unknown. He was at first afraid to approach the other equines on the island, and then he was more afraid of what they might do to him. Some seemed an unfriendly bunch, and he kept mostly to himself on a quiet patch of island shore, eating seaweed and whatever grass was nearby. He could have laughed at himself, by the time he finally left his hidey hole- He'd left the land of man only to confine himself once again to a certain area. Old habits die hard.
Personality: Taj is the "mostly good-natured but I'm going to project that I'm a bad boy" type, putting on a front around those he doesn't know. Even around those he does know, it takes a good deal of pushing to make him crack the badboy exterior. He swears in Spanish, more often than not, simply because very few people would understand what he's saying. He also speaks fluent, if sometimes rocky, English. His Italian is limited enough that he doesn't even pretend to know how to speak it. His good nature is mostly due to a good raising before he left his mother, though his domesticated roots make him less quick to fight than other stallions. He isn't really the physical fighting type- he saw the fights on the streets of Spain and never got involved. He'd do it if he had to though, or to gain something he wanted. Past that, he'd be hard pressed to fight, however his comebacks are almost always witty and cynical. He's the type that would win a fight by projecting and vocalizing that he would in a strong enough way to convince another person that he would too. Should he be confronted with a true "bad boy" though, he'd likely shy away and not want comparison to be offered. He may be on the fence, but if he were swayed, he'd be more likely to sway towards light than dark.
