It had to be done. She had to tell him. Ears flicked back upon Malice's head, as she headed into Terra di Fuoco, her nostrils flaring almost as if she were angry. She had to tell Aiden. But, he would be busy with anything else, wouldn't he? Stopping just inside the territory, the Fire Herd mare pulled her head toward her chest, crimson eyes staring out across the landscape, in case Aiden stumbled upon her. She wasn't ready to tell him, not yet anyways.
But, what if he did show up and it just stumbled out?! Stop worrying about it, you silly girl. An eagle cried overhead, and swirled down, landing before the mare. Report, Malice hissed, watching the brown eagle figit before her before standing straight. Nothing, mistress. I have found nothing out, and frankly, it's quite interesting to have nothing...
the bird rambled on, and a growl escaped the mare's throat. Didn't I tell you not to bother me unless you had some important information?! Fire circled the mare's legs, and the eagle made a sound much like a parrot, lifting off into the air just as the fire bolted toward where he had previously been. And don't come back unless you have something, Malice shouted after the eagle, as it flew quickly out of sight. Mumbling under her breath, the mare walked forward, obviously in a bitter mood now. It didn't help that she was bored out of her mind. There weren't any horses to mess with, and it was bugging her. She had to let her anger out on something. A small rabbit jumped across her path, and she snorted. This wasn't good, at least for this stupid rabbit. A smirk crossed her maw, and she snorted, fire searing through the air, encasing the rabbit. It burned it quickly, killing it on contact. Malice smiled, happy to have taken at least some of her anger out. But.. it wouldn't be enough.[/blockquote] song. two is better than one . boys like girls character. malice word count. 325 template. lizzeh 2010 i remember what you wore on the first day you came into my life and I thought "hey, you know, this could be something" 'cause everything you do and words you say you know that it all takes my breath away and now I'm left with nothing.[/blockquote]

Aiden. Aiden tromped through Fuoco with a scowl on his face. He was pissed. First of all Aithne and Shadow had gotten into some kind of scuffle on their very important mission, and almost gave everythin away. To top that off, Shadow seemed to be some kind of phantom horse, and it confused Aiden, even though he would never admit such a thing.
Then, on top of it all, Romance had killed herself. Aiden had been extremely happy at first at learning the newes. He hated that mare with every fibre of his being. It had dawned on him a couple minutes ago that her death meant that there was one less Zunden. That was not good at all. He had been trying to build an army, not destroy one.
Firefly was now heartbroken and she was probably going to have issues, one thing Aiden really didn't need. Yes, she was his daughter and he showed affection to her, he was not too sympathetic toward her. He never had the emotional attatchment to Romance that Firefly had, after all she was her mother. Aiden figured if he was Firefly, he would see thing differently.
The Fire Lord was pulled out of his thoughts as he saw Malice standing several strides away. The stallion stood up straighter and shook off as if he was ridding himself of his current troubles. He even managed to crack a small smile when he greeted Malice with a bob of his crown. "Hello Malice. Haven't spoken to you in a while."

Her own thoughts were preoccupied as Aiden appeared, and as he spoke, she looked as if he had startled her out of a sound sleep. Oh, hello Aiden. Her voice came out in a soft hiss, and she shifed her weight ever so slightly. Yeah, it has been some time.. sorry. I've been ... distracted .. lately.
Excuses, excuses. Ears flicked ever so slightly, as the shrill call of an eagle far off caught her ears. Nostrils quivered, hoping it wasn't her informant, not this soon. I take it you have been busy yourself? Something else is occupying your mind right now.. I can tell.
A sly smirk crossed her maw, as her tail swayed slowly behind her ashy brown body. Crimson eyes strayed from the Fire Lord briefly, examining the charred remains of the rabbit from early. Quickly, she shifed her gaze back onto Aiden. Perhaps a small walk will help you clear your mind? Or.. maybe something else?
Testing the waters, that was what Malice was doing with Aiden. Just to see what he would do about a flirty Malice. Of course, she wouldn't admit to him that she was coming into heat. She wasn't going to pressure him with anything. If he wanted her that badly, he would chase her down.
Once again, she shifted her weight, almost restlessly. It was true, she did want to move along, to walk and get the pent up anger out of her system. But she could wait.

Aiden. Aiden's audits flicked as Malice greeted him. By the sound of her voice and her expression, he thought that he had just woken her up from a cat nap. The Fire Lord smiled a bit as she shifted her weight and regained her normal composure. "As have I." he said in response to her petty apology.
Aiden's orbs quickly darted to the sky as he heard the piercing cry of an eagle. Eagles were one of the only animals Aiden didn't mind. He shook his crown and focused back on Malice as her soft vocals drifted through the warm, summer air. Aiden let out a curt, sarcastic laugh in responae. "You could say that."
The stag was debating on whether or not he should tell Malice about the issues in, and out of, the herd. After all, she was his only true friend. He trusted her, and that was probably only because he had known her when they were much younger.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when her vocals reached his ever flicking audits once more. Was she flirting? This caused Aiden to smirk inwardly. He would never figure that Malice would turn out to be the flirty type.
Aiden walked forward, pushing past the mare while asking "So, what have been your recent worries?" He only halted to look back, the expression on his face asking if she was going to follow or not.

The mare's ears flicked as the stallion spoke, and she nodded ever so slightly. Her mind couldn't help but wander to how Aiden looked. What was wrong with her mind? Shaking her head slowly, she cleared her mind, focusing upon what the Fire Lord was saying now. As he began to walk away, she followed, almost like a shadow, glad to be walking and releasing the building energy within her.
Nothing, really.. she lied, however, if the stallion could tell she was lying, she wasn't able to tell by his features. Did he really want to know about how she was feeling? That seemed like a very Lightish thing.

Aiden. The stag cast a glance at the mare. Lying. She was lying. Aiden had always been very good at telling when other horses were lying, it was like a curse. At least he was grateful he could not see into their minds like those stupid time horses.
"You are not the best prevaricator my dear. What is troubling you?" he asked again. Yes, he felt like foolish light asking her about what was troubling her of all things. It just felt good to have someone to talk to for once. Plus, tlaking to her would make him forget is own troubles for a while.

Malice smirked slightly at Aiden, and nudged his hindquarter with her nose gently. You do not need to worry yourself with my troubles, Aiden. You have plenty on your own plate as it is. Deep down, yes, Malice did want to tell Aiden that she had feelings for him, but she was afraid he would merely scoff at her, and tell her she was foolish for thinking such things. She looked away form him, crimson eyes wandering over the vast terrain that was the Zunden lands. Maybe.. it would be best.
Truth be told... I guess there is something bothering me. She paused for a moment, even paused in her walking, crimson eyes tearing away from the scenery to look at Aiden. Aiden, ever since we were younger, I don't know... you just seemed to attract me to you. Again, I don't know why or how; you just... you were always the horse I would think about. You wouldn't escape my mind, even when I was out with my mother when my father died. There, it was out in the open. She admitted her feelings.
She looked down at the ground, realizing what she had said seemed pretty Lightish once again. She could've kicked herself, if she was able to. Malice kept her crimson eyes hidden, afraid, yes, afraid, that Aiden was going to laugh at her.

Aiden. The Fire Lord's visage held a dark grimmace as Malice spoke. Why did she have to bring up his damned problems?! He had started this bloody conversation to forget about the previsouly mentioned problems. "I don't want to think about those right now." he almost snapped at her. He didn't mean to act this way, there was just so much going on.
It was a lot of pressure being the last of the royal Zunden bloodlines. Well, not to mention Firefly, bu Aiden would never ever give the herd to her. It wasn't that he didn't like, or love, her, it was all her mother. He had learned to hate her mother and for that, he wouldn't give Firefly what meant most to him.
The pair walked in silence for a few minutes before Malice spoke up again. She told Aiden that there was something that had been bothering her. He turned his head and looked at her expectantly.
What came out of her mouth next was not what he was expecting to hear from her. She had admitted to having feelings to him. Aiden knew that he wasn't the most unwanted horse in all of the island, but hearing it come from Malice's mouth made it so much different then when it had come from Romance.
Truth was that Aiden had always been attracted to her as well. He just wasn't good at admitting things like that as she seemed to be. Aiden stared at her for a moment and then a smile came to his face and his eyes actually seemed to twinkle with some unknown emotion. "I always had a hunch." he joked.
He hoped that the smile would be enough and he wouldn't have to come up with some little declaration of love speech. He did not have much, if any, experience in dealing with something like this.

And yet... Malice didn't hear any laughter from the stallion. Crimson eyes looked from the ground, to his face, and she was quite stunned to see that he had a totally different look upon his face. And, he had a hunch? So he kind of knew that she liked him all along? Why didn't you say anything then if you knew? Of course, there was another look he was giving her; one she had seen her father give her mother all too often. He thought that way too? Ears twitched slightly, and she flared her nostrils. How come he didn't say anything to her? She had acted like a fool all this time, and she didn't need to?
Aiden, I do hope this doesn't change things between us... her voice drifted off, as she looked down at the ground again.

Aiden. The stallion gave her a smirk and said "I thought it was just hormones then." What he told her was true. Since they had been quite young, most the fillies her age were always infatuated with one stallion or another. It was just suppossed to be that way. Aiden had dismissed Malice's attraction toward him as those same hormones that turned all the others into, well, bitches.
That was years ago. Now Aiden knew the feelings never left Malice, therefore it had to be a bit soemthing more than just hormones. At least he hoped it was. Aiden's own attraction to her was never brought on by hormones. He had always acted the same way, like a strict, military leader who always overlooked genders and saw horses for who they really were.
Yes, he knew when a mare was attractive, but they were never more than a pretty face to be under his command. Malice was so much different. She was a friend, with a pretty face nonetheless. But there was something more there that Aiden was never able to figure out fully and that, that made him mad and all the more drawn to her. His seperation from her over the years had cause him to forget, but now that the vixen was back in his life, those strange emotions were coming back to him.
His auds flicked as the mare spoke again. "Not at all Malice." he said with a smile. They walked in silence for a bit longer until Aiden said "Malice, have you ever seen the sunset on a beach?"

Hormones. Yes, Malice guessed that was probably what most young stallions would think back then. Fillies going crazy over them, saying that they loved them. Hormones. But, Malice didn't have any affect from them. It was all from her heart, as it always had been. I guess I could see why you would think that. She chuckled softly, as she sped up her pace slightly, so that she walked beside him, her tail flicking over his ever so slightly as she placed each hoof upon the ground.
As he went silent again, so did the mare. Her crimson eyes stayed focused ahead of her, but behind them, deep within her mind, she was thinking. Thinking about what this would mean for the Zunden, for Aiden's future, and for her own. If they were to have a foal together. That was when Malice's mind stopped in it's tracks. The mare was, in no way, ready to become a mother. She still had 'a few tricks up her sleeve' before she wanted to settle down and become a mother.
Once Aiden began to speak again, Malice's ears flicked ever so slightly. She was quite glad to know that what she had admitted wouldn't change anything between the two, and she let a small, warm smile cross her maw. When he mentioned a sunset upon a beach, she tilted her head slightly. I've experienced a few within my life with my mother. But perhaps you can show me one that is better? She smiled warmly at him, and reached out, nudging his shoulder gently with her nose.
Lead the way.

Aiden. Aiden glanced to her as she spoke. "Well you have to admit, that's how all the other fillies were if you recall." he stated. "Remember, oh, what was her name... Sahara? She used to follow me around like a lost puppy. I never understood why you disliked her so." Aiden looked to Malice again and smiled. "Now I do."
The small smile remained on Aiden's visage as they walked toward the beach. He was actually happy in his life for once, and he wasn't even giving any thought to the affairs of the rest of the herd and the outsiders. It was just him and Malice. It was nice.
The Fire Lord picked up a slow jog as he led Malice toward the beach. If they wanted to catch the sunset, they would have to hurry. Once the sun got to a caertain point in the sky, it went down rather quickly.
A few minutes later they came upon a beach with very dark maroon, almost black sand. It was obviously a volcanic type of sand seeing as this was still part of Fuoco. Even the water closer to shore seemed to glow a red-orange colour.
Aiden looked to the mare and smiled. "Welcome to the only beach Fuoco has to offer my dear." He then looked over the horizon, waiting for the sun to let it's rays dance on the soft waves that graced the ocean today. So this is what happiness was?

The ashy brown mare stayed close to Aiden's side as he lead the way, her head bobbing as she trotted along. Once in a while, Malice's crimson eyes would stray away from their destination up ahead, and watch the scenery go by. However, on more than one occasion, she nearly fell flat on her face, and her attention was diverted to straight ahead of her. As the ground gave way to volcanic sand, Malice's stride shifted, so that she was able to walk straight.
It is quite beautiful, Malice replied to Aiden's comment about the only beach in Zunden territory, and she wasn't lying. Out of all the beaches she had been to, the darkened sands of this beach really attracted her. As did the waters off the coast. A devious smirk crossed the mare's maw, and she walked past the stallion, her tail swaying slowly behind her. Her walk was seductive, almost teasing Aiden, as she entered the unusually warm waters. Once she was knee deep, she turned, watching him.
C'mon and join me, Aiden. The water is perfect, she called, throwing up her head slightly and flaring her nostrils. The smell of salt was strong, and it was nice compared to the constant ash she smelled deeper within Fuoco.

Aiden. Aiden turned his crown to look at the mare as he heard her say that this place was beautiful. "Yes." he agreed quietly, taking his own time to take in the scenery before ihm. It had been a long time since he had come here, especially with another horse. Come to think of it, the last time he had been here with another horse was when he was just a colt and his mother brought him.
The stallion's audits flicked as Malice strode past him. She had a peculier expression on her normally serious visage. What in the world is she doing? Aiden cocked his head and shot her a questioning glance. Anyone could tell that Aiden was not used to flirting, or enjoying himself for that matter. It was always striaght down to business with him.
Auden continued to stare at the mare for a moment as she asked him to come and join her in the water. He slowly moved forward, a small smirk appearing on his maw. Okay so she was right, the water did feel nice. The Fire Lord walked even further out until the water reached his chest. His smile grew as memories of his childhood came back. He used to love the sea. He would always beg his mother to take him there so he could play. Now, he sort of felt like a colt again.
His happy smile was soon replaced with a devious smirk as he waded closer to Malice. He threw back his crown and let out a low whinny. Without warning he reared up and smacked back down on the water, hoping to drench Malice in the salty sibstance.

Crimson eyes watched Aiden closely, as he looked at the water, then went in. A small smile, almost as if she were happy she was next to him again, crossed her maw, and she turned. Malice's body created small waves as she did so, the water drenching her coat even further. Suddenly, the splash that Aiden had sent at her hit her fully in the face, and she closed her eyes quickly, so that the salty water didn't burn her eyes. With her forelock dripping wet, she shook her head, and opened her eyes slowly. Oh, you are cruel, she hissed, a sinister smirk crossing her maw as she moved toward him slowly, the water bogging her movements.
She then brought her own body up into the air, splashing down right next to him, hoping to soak his own face with water. As she landed, she sent out a playful whinny, and headed for shore, so that Aiden couldn't splash her back. As soon as she got a more stable footing, and the water wasn't swishing around her body, she took off at a gallop across the sands, her tail flicking slowly behind her. Once she was near where the sands turned to solid ground, she turned, facing where Aiden was, nostrils quivering. That sly smirk was still upon her face, as she threw her head up, nickering to him. Can't catch me, dear, she taunted the stallion, half-rearing, her front legs flailing through the air.
As she landed, she stood still, waiting, body quivering for when Aiden launched himself after her.
