A lone stallion, young in age, wandered the lands he had always called home. There was a air of solemnity surrounding him as he looked for any familiar form. The painted equine, heir to these lands, Larken was truly distraught. His mother had met an unfortunate demise at the hands of a roguish Arrat named Erebos.
Larken called out into the forest for his father. He knew his dark sire would not be pleased of the news. The young stag, too, had it out for the night horse who took from him his loving mother. However, Larken was of lighter heart than his father and was more rational in his plans to seek vengeance than her foresaw his father being.

Aro { But it feels so empty without me! } | The handsome stallion had been walking his borders, making sure that none of his mares, or any outsiders, had wondered in or out of his lands. The scent of his true son had come across him. Ears flicked forward and he took off at a trot to hurry and get to Larken.
As Aro reached him, he snorted. Larken seemed distraught. His face immediatly changed to worry. "What's wrong?" The large stallion nuzzled his colt.

The colt was stiff as his father nuzzled him. Aro had never shown a harsh face towards his son or mate, yet Larken knew of the stallion's foul manners towards select mares of his harem. He was easily tempered and somewhat tyrannical in this colt's eyes. For that reason, the lighter equine found himself somewhat distanced from his father. He did not belong to such dark rule and certainly shouldn't be the heir.
As his father spoke, the young stallion had to turn his head to hear - being deaf in one ear. "I am afraid it is mother. She... she and I were on the borders of Morte. I wandered farther from her than I should. By the time I could get to her, it was too late. The lead of the night herd was departing from... from her body. Dad, she's gone," his voice cracked over several of the words. Larken was close to his mother, and her death hurt him a lot.

Aro { The pain just grew and grew! } | Aro stared blankly at his son. Anger boiled under his skin. How.. How could he? The kiger was speechless. Amber eyes looked away from Larken. "Go." Tears dripped from his pale cheeks. "Just go." He spoke quietly, anger seething through his voice.
The stallion turned sharply from his son, walking slowly. His legs felt... Numb.. Anger.. Aro walked faster away from his son, his strides quickening...

Larken was warmed slightly at the sight of his father's emotions. He knew he truly cared for Kadence but had not realized how much. Yet, this sentiment was not enough to change the colt's mind. Whether Aro realized it or not, this would be Larken's last moments in these dark lands. "Farewell, father," he whispered into the night air. He was certain Aro had not heard for he was already many paces from him. The overo quietly turned about and headed off and away from these lands. He was not sure where he was going to go, but definitely away from his father's lands of darkness and memories.
