And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dyin' Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you they call me J a c k. The stag was racing through the forest. Something, or more likely a someone, was tailing him. He could feel it. The dark bay turned his head around slightly, only to snap it back straight again. They were after him again. What this? The fifth or sixth time now? He knew it was something like that. Jack was never one to actually keep track of things, times, horses. All he knew is that he had met this crew before and had escaped them each time. He was bound and determined to do so again. Today would not be his last. Not if he could help it.
----
"What the hell?" was the first thing that came out of the bay's mouth as he looked around his surroundings. This wasn't right. Had they done something to him? Captured him? Perhaps even killed him and this was Heaven? Jack blinked his dark amber optics and glanced up to that sky. "You are not supposed to be here! You weren't here earlier!" he yelled. It had been dark before, when he was being chased. So very dark.
The stag then realised that he was laying on the ground in a seemingly harmless meadow. He poked his crown up and glanced around. No one else here. "Ah ha!" he exclaimed to himself as a scrambled up from the grassy floor. He plastered his maw to the ground, and seemed to be inspecting the area very intently. "Was not! I know it wasn't. How could it be? It was the truth." he hissed out as he saw marks in the dirt where he had been kicking in his sleep. "Pffft, s'probably a trap!" His amber optics turned wild as he glanced around. Nothing. No one. okay, so maybe this time it had been a dream.
Jack trotted in a small circle before shaking his coat off and putting his head down. "Damn thing!" he cursed as he shook his head to move his black halter back more so it wasn't in his way. The grass tasted different here than it did in other places. It had a nice smell to. Jack flicked his tail and stomped a socked, hind leg at a fly. "Get it to th....., oh just never mind." he said with a mouth full of grass. He would just remain here until it got later, then he'd move on and see where he was. Until then Jack continued to graze as he hummed and sang something about mud, pillows, stones, and ferrets with boots.

Shadow I’ve had just about enough of quote “diamonds in the rough.” It had been years since Shadow had seen her mother. And, as much as she loved her father, she could not help but blame him for River’s departure and her current mental state. The thoughts of the happier times, of her youngest days, flooded her every waking thought. She despised the feeling; that distant, unattainable happiness. She could remember how fulfilling and joyous things were as a child, and it made her current moments seem terribly drab. That was why she had ventured out here today - she needed to find something, anything to take her mind off of a happiness that seemed so far away.
Distant vocals seemed to slither through the drooping branches of the many willows. The mare’s ears swiveled uneasily as she attempted to pinpoint where the voice was coming from. She could not make out individual words, so surely the creature was not near. But, who could really tell in this labyrinth of Willows? Shadow had given in to the fact that she was lost a good hour ago. Yet, frenzy had never befallen her; that was until she heard the voices. The last thing this mare wanted was company. The Barb slowly trekked through the forest, the voice still muffling through the thick trees. Suddenly, there was silence and Shadow could see a flicker of light. Yes! Finally out of this damned forest and away from… Oh damn.
The moment thoughts of triumph entered the mare’s mind her gait picked up into a lofty trot only to find herself smack dab in the meadow with the stallion that she was attempting to elude. I really need to work on my navigation skills. The bay seemed rather preoccupied – grazing with his back to Shadow humming a melody that she was not familiar with. A sly smirk arched her kissers as she decided to sneak her way back into the forest. He would never notice her! Of course, you would know her first footfall would land upon a twig. The mare’s head lowered slightly as her ears hung low with irritation. Perhaps he didn’t hear that.

And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dyin' Are the best I've ever had
they call me J a c k. Jack continued to sing to himself as he took mouthfuls of the fresh, spring grass. He was so glad that it was finally spring. The bay had washed up on this island last year during the fall. At first he had thought that the island would be cold all the time. It came as a shock to him that it got warmer. A lto warmer. Jack could tell that summer days were going to be hell.
Jack quieted his singing for a moment as his audits twitched. There was someone near by. A smile spread across his face. Finally he would have some company! His face fell as he remembered back home. The other horses always avoided him. They said he was different, ood, mental, mad, you name it, they called him it. He had only ever befriended one animal back home, and that animal was a rather ugly little rabbit who lived in his pasture. Maybe it would be different in this place.
Jack glanced over his shoulder at the horse passing. She seemed ot be trying to avoid him for some reason. Odd. No one knew him here yet, did they? The bay turned around and quietly walked up to the blue mare and asked her "Where is here?" Jack just hoped she wouldn't be like the horses back home. She probably would be though, after a few words exchanged she would see that he was crazy and leave him all alone.
The stag did a strange little prance in place while flicking his banners for a second. "You see, I've been lost for quite a while and I keep getting chased by them." he told her seriously. The brute then rolled his eyes upward and closed them before opening them again and blinking quite rapidly, as if he was trying to get soemthing out of his eye. "Did they chase you too? Are you just as far gone as I am miss?" Jack question, his voice almost sounding forlorn. Another strange thing about ihs voice was his accent. In a normal talking voice he sounded American, but when he whispered or his volume increased he sounded distinctly Northern Irish.

Shadow But it was killing you inside, Once low ears went tight against the mare’s skull – the stallion had heard, and it was not long before he was headed towards her. The fae’s first instinct was to brace for flight. Stallions were known to mean trouble, and the mares of Liberta were known to seek such trouble. Shadow was not like the rest of those haughty little broods though. Her mother, short-lived as her presence in Shadow’s life had been, had certainly taught her better.
What came out of the stallion’s kissers startled Shadow slightly. “Here?” She reiterated as her eyes gaped at the stallion’s odd behavior. “Chase me? Who? Whatever are you talking about?” Was this stallion bloody mad? Or, was someone really chasing him? If so, she could have truly landed herself in the midst of a mess. Perhaps, evasion of this stag was imperative to her safety!
Considering his manner of speech, changing accent, and little dance, Shadow had to assume that he was just loony, mad, straight bonkers! “I am certain that I am not as far gone as you,” came the dry reply from the blue mare as she rolled her eyes faintly. Of course, she was sure they did not have the same meaning for the words.
“You must be disoriented,” Shadow concluded. Perhaps she had been too harsh – many of her own herd mates had come to this island by means of shipwreck. Maybe this particular stallion had hit his head a little too hard on the way in? “You are on Isola Dei Dei. Now, who exactly is… or was chasing you?” Shadow glanced over her shoulders uneasily after she said this. Despite believing he was a little off his rocker, there still could be some threat after the bay. And, if there was, she was certain that she might not be safe to hang around with him – but, she could not just leave him here in trouble – a little trait she had picked up from her father, and, oh, how she could not help but rue it now! And, now it's breaking you apart, just like it broke your heart. words | 340 lyrics | Q [the best of our lives] - Evan's Blue

they call me J a c k. The bay gave her an odd look as she flattened her audits. What was wrong? Was something behind him? Jack threw a glance over his shoulder too have a look. Nothing. Hmm, that was rather strange. the thought as he blinked his orbs a few times, not really focusing on the mare, but on a butterfly that was behind her head for a few seconds before it flew off into the spring air.
Jack looked back to the mare as she started to answer his questions with more questions. "Yes here. Where else would I be? I would like to know where here is if you know where here is. Then we could both know where here is." he told her. Silly girl, where did she think I was talking about? Well no she probably has it all cleared up and I can get my answer. For once. Birds aren't very helpful. Not at all. All they do is try and confuse you and throw idiotic riddles in your face.
The blue mare then asked who were the ones chasing him. "Oh!" he exclaimed. "So you've been chased by them too! I see! Well at least you out ran them this time, next time you might not be so lucky." The bay gave her a lopsided grin. He seemed to be glad that someone else knew what he was talking about. Oh. Wait. She asked who they were. I guess that means she's never been chased before. His face fell a bit and he sighed. "Y'know what? Never mind. Obviously you are out of the loop my dear."
The mare then told him that he must be disoriented. "Is that what they call it?" he asked her. "I never knew. I always thought..." he trailed off and seemed to zone out for a moment. "Well I am certainly not disori-whateverated. That's a fact." he said with a sure nod of his head.
Jack's face lit up as the mare told him he was on something called Isola Dei Dei. She then asked who was chasing ihm. "Oh! You're being chased too eh? What a shame." he said, totally ignoring her question. "What's your name?" he asked, almost in a manner a small child would ask. "They call me Jack."

shadow Ah ah ah ah You and me, all we need is each other. That's why we, make a good you and me. [/center] The mare sighed as the stallion seemed to misunderstand her. His unusual banter continued, pauses throughout as he seemed to maul over his own words – or so she supposed that was what the batty creature was thinking; who could really say? He doesn’t really seem all there. Or, perhaps he is just too there? Yes, maybe he just has too many things going on in his mind. After all, he seems to believe he is being pursued by something. Although, he never really clarified who or what is chasing him. Okay, scratch all of my previous conclusions. He is absolutely, positively bonkers, mad, off his rocker! And, there is something absolutely fascinating and amazing about that.
Shadow snapped back into reality to realize he was currently yakking on about her calling him disoriented. Then he lit up like the morning sky as he thought she, too, was being chased. Had he not already come to the conclusion that I was, in fact, not being pursued
His words ceased suddenly and Shadow tried to recollect all the queries he had asked. Now how to put these words so that he will not misunderstand? Oh my, this could be rather difficult. Here it goes! “Well, Jack, here is Isola Dei Dei,” Shadow paused, her ears twitching uneasily as she realized she had worded that a bit much like he would. Snorting, the mare gathered her thoughts and spoke again,“And, my name is Shadow.” The mare did not bother stating her rank and herd for she was not certain that Jack would be able to handle that much information without bursting out on a million different tangents.
“And, no, I am not being chased by anything, and I am not really certain that you are either. Now, tell me, where have you come from? Do you have a home?” The blue lass shifted her head to the side as she awaited an answer. A sudden feeling of comfort around this strange stallion could not help but be noticed. Why had she suddenly felt placated? Why wasn’t she on edge as she had been moments ago? Perhaps, it was that earlier observation of intrigue in this stallion. He was so quirky and so different from any other equine she’d ever met. Her whole life had always been so dramatic (between mares fighting over her father’s heart and her mother’s leaving.) With Jack she felt as if there would never be drama – he was so carefree! It almost made her feel carefree, like she was… dreaming. Oh, dear, please don’t let this be a dream! words | 434 lyrics | You and Me - Plain White T's

And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dyin' Are the best I've ever had
they call me J a c k. The stallion continued to stare at the blue mare as she spoke. She told him that he was in some place called Isola Dei Dei. Now where in the wolrd is this? I have never ever ever heard of it. Oh well that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist somewhere. Just as Jack was going to speak, he sneezed, laughing a bit afterward. "Why I don't even know where that is. Where is it?" he asked the mare.
Jack began to kick around a stone in the dirt as he waited for, well he actually did not know what he was waiting for. He squinted a bit as the fae intorduced herself as Shadow. "Pleasure to meet you Shadow. I like your name, although I do not see how it suits you yet. But then again, how does my name suit me? What does a Jack do? What is one beside me?" he said, half talking to her and half talking to himself.
Jack cokced his head as Shadow asked him where he was from and if he had a home. "Weeeeelllll" he drawled out. "I don't know if I have a home or not. I may, but it may be in another world, land, place, time. Maybe I'm in an alternate universe. But to answer your question Shadow I am, er do, not have any home as of this current moment in time." he said with a smile. "Oh and I think I don't know where I am from. Sorry."

The mare’s head jerked up slightly at his sudden sneeze but soon enough returned to the formerly relaxed state. Her nostrils flared and ears twitched from time to time as the stallion spoke. Where was Isola Dei Dei? “Well, it is… Isola Dei Dei is… um… well, here. Where we are now is where it is,” she rambled out. She tilted her head mauling over the question again, not quite so pleased with her answer.
Thoughts were soon disrupted as he spoke of names and how they might suit someone or not. She knew why her mother had named her Shadow, and the memory of her mother and old stories brought an unfamiliar smirk to her face – soon to be replaced by a scowl. How dare she have happy thoughts of… of River! Her mother had left her, and thus was not deserving of such a smile! Shaking away all memory of the mare she called mother, Shadow focused her gaze and thoughts upon Jack.
“No home? You think… Jack, I have to be honest your answers always leave me with more questions than, well, answers.” Snorting, she tapped his shoulder with her maw. “But, since you have no home, or think that you do not or did not… or whatever, you are welcome to return with me to my home. In fact, I would be delighted if you did. I like you, er, well, you seem interesting, I mean.” The mare shuffled in place before turning in the direction of her homelands, Liberta. “Are you coming?” She called from over her shoulder, already taking a few paces forward.

The stallion stared at her for a moment. Isola Dei Dei. That's where she said he was at. "Never heard of it before." he told her as he looked to the sky, trying to think if he had. He didn't remember much of anything anyway, so why would he remember something as pointless as the name of some place. Now if he only knew where this Isola Dei Dei was located in the world.
Jack continued to stare at the mare as she spoke. More questions than anwsers? Rubbish. He was telling her exactly what she wanted to hear. Why was that so confusing? It wasn't confusing, was it? Jack then confused himself by thinking of this and shook his head while squinting his eyes as if that would get the confussion to leave his mind.
A home? Had she really offered him some where to stay? Jack practically lept forward to follow her. "Thank you so very much Miss Shadow!" he exclaimed. "I hope I'm not intruding on you and your mate and the rest of the herd." he said with a silly grin on his face. Finally, he had a home.

Shadow could not help but let a silent smirk cross her kissers as the stallion made a sudden leap forward at her offer. He was certainly an interesting creature, and she wondered how her father would accept his… odd ways. When Jack spoke, she glanced at him in silent contemplation. There was a certain serious composure to her face, “well, you haven’t the need to worry about a mate or the herd members necessarily.”
Her gaze focused back on the trail ahead of them for a few moments before she decided that she wasn’t happy with her response. “It is my father’s lands – so, he is the only one you will need to worry about.” She nodded quietly, a bit more pleased with that response. Part of her wished to reassure him that her father was a kind soul and would warmly welcome him, but she could not be entirely sure how he would react. Snorting defiantly at her thoughts, the mare picked up a rather sudden gait increase.
“Come on!” She called out as she steadily galloped quicker. The mare had inherited her father’s speed and love for a good run. And, soon, she was rushing past the trees and over fallen logs and shrubs at her quickest. “You’re going to have to be faster than that if you want to keep up with me,” she teased.

The grin on the bay's face grew even more as Shadow said that it wouldn't be a problem for him to come to her home. He was glad. He knew how some horses could be if another stallion got near their mare, even if the other stallion really wanted nothing to do with being their mate. Maybe horses on this island were different than the horses that he remembered.
His face fell a bit as she said the only horse he would have to worry about was her father. Jack did not know if he had ever delt with a mare's father, but he was pretty sure that whoever her father was, he would be suspicious of Jack. "Oh." was all he had to say to that. But like Jack had htough before, maybe horses on this island were different.
All of the sudden Shadow took off and Jack stood there staring. It took him a second before he realised that he should probably follow her. His gait quickly increased, and before he knew it he was several stride behind her, eager to see his new home.
