[atrb=border,1,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#FFFFFF]It was unusual, being upon this island filled with so many wild horses. Did humans know about this island like she did? Did they know of it's inhabitants, the many horses, some of them having extraordinary powers? Epona moved through the forest slowly, her bare feet treading upon the ground gently, so she wouldn't hurt herself. Black hair shielded her pretty brown eyes, as she moved under a large oak tree, her hand placed gently upon it's trunk. The young girl stopped momentarily, having been traveling for an hour now, her breath coming in small gasps. She hadn't traveled like this since when she was back with her tribe in her homelands. Even then, she had a horse beside her to ride in case she got tired.
The young girl sat down upon the roots of the tall tree, leaning against the trunk gently. Brown eyes gazed up above, taking in the brilliant green colors of the leaves. The spring season had grown into summer, and Epona had adapted to the sudden heat wave that seemed to be endless. She had taken a piece of her skirt, which was made out of tanned deer hide, and tied it around her hair, so that she was cooler. Even now, sitting under the shade of the tree, she was hot. There was no breeze, just a lifeless still around her. A sigh escaped the girl as she pushed herself back up, heading onward into the forest. Where she was going, she didn't really know. An adventure, that was what she was on. Exploring this strange place.
A half hour later, she came across a small clearing, a pond on the far side fed by a waterfall. The pond glistened in the sunlight allowed in by the trees, and the girl could even see fish swimming around inside it. What caught her attention the most was a shining stone, near the bottom of the pond, glittering brighter than the surface of the water. Curious as to what this stone was, Epona walked forward, toward the edge of the pond, an eyebrow raised slightly. This surely was interesting.
Something, some sort of magic, was pulling her toward the stone. Epona waded into the water, the fish dancing and darting away, going to hide in their little homes they made in the pond. A deep breath, and the girl dove under the water, opening her eyes to see where she was going. The water was unusually clear, and the stone still shimmered brightly in the water, down upon the bed of the pond. Epona swam down, right next to the small stone, staring at it in wonder. It was so beautiful, so flawless. She wrapped her fingers around it, basking in it's beauty. However, around her, the water swam, and it seemed as if an invisible hand had closed off her air way.
Moments later, Epona woke, lying upon her side on the bank of the pond. Her brown eyes blinked a few times, and she noticed she had a sharp pain her head. How did she end up on the bank of the pond? And what was that funny feeling? She blinked a few more times, then rose, and even then, something wasn't right. She glanced down into the waters, and got the shock of her life.
Staring back at her was a horse, a pure white horse, with brown eyes, and a ... horn?! Horses didn't have horns! What was that creature called that her mother told her stories about? A ... unicorn. She was a unicorn? But.. how?! Shaking her head, Epona stumbled back, obviously not used to having four legs. This sure was a change for her. But, something clicked in her mind. Those horses she saw upon the beach! Wouldn't she be able to understand her now?! Nostrils quivered, and this caused her to giggle slightly to herself, feeling such a thing happen now that she was a unicorn. She tested out every other thing she could do: swiveling her ears around, flicking her tail, snorting, you name it, she did it.
After an hour of sitting there, getting used to her new body, Epona's stomach growled. Boy, was she hungry. She had seen plenty of other horses eat, and she knew instantly what she had to do. Her head lowered, and she nibbled on the grass near her hooves. And boy, was this grass wonderful! She had tasted grass when she was human, but now that she was a unicorn, grass tasted great! Smiling to herself, the unicorn turned around, her body sparkling faintly in the sunlight, the horn on her head, white as her body, glittering as well. Epona loved her new self, and maybe, just maybe, she could find some friends upon this island. |

Mograine let out an exasperated sigh as he kicked a stone around in the field. He hated who he was, what he was. He had been like this for a freaking year. At firs he had arrived on this island as a human boy of sixteen years old. He had been on a private plane with his family flying from Italy to various islands. Unfortunately his plane had crashed and he had been the only one to survive.
Then he had wandered around this blasted island for a month or so until curiousity got the better of him and well, thats how he came to be what he was now; a unicorn. Imagine that a boy being turned into a unicorn! At least he was black and not white and pink and sparkley like he had always picutred unicorns to be.
He had been alone ever since he arrived here as a human, even more so now. At least a coupl ehorses liked him as a human, but once he transformed, they stopped going near him. It probably freaked them out a bit too much.
Just then Mograine saw a mare in the distance. He sighed thinking that he should leave before she freaked out about him being human once. He looked back once more, onlt to see her horn this time. A million watt smile lit up his face as he trotted up to her. "Hello!" he called. He wasn't the only one afterall.

[atrb=border,1,true][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#FFFFFF]She was slowly getting used to the thought of living her life as a unicorn. In Epona's mind, if this was how all unicorns looked, she adored them! Flicking her ears again, she listened to the birds singing in the trees nearby. They didn't find it odd for a unicorn to have suddenly appeared on the pond's banks? Or, did they know that something like this would happen, and they were singing about it? Shaking her head slightly, the mare turned in the sunlight, her pretty brown eyes looking around. That was when she caught the sight of another horse coming toward her, one that was black, the opposite color of her own coat. That fear she once had as a human took over her, and she took a few steps back, her ears flicked toward her skull as he spoke. She... understood him! |
[/font][/size] "I can.. understand you?!" Being able to talk to other horses was a bit startling, but, her curiousity took over her, and she took those steps toward him again, and that was when her eyes caught sight of the horn upon his head. Nostrils flared, as she tilted her head slightly, a dumbfounded look upon her face. "Well... this sure is an interesting day..." she spoke to herself, flicking her tail behind her body slowly. Shaking her head, she decided to actually speak to this unicorn in front of her.[/font] "Hello. I take it you weren't excepting another... unicorn .. to suddenly appear on the island? I can kind of tell by the look on your face," a small smile, a gentle one, crossed her maw, as she lifted her head up slightly, "My name is Epona... what's yours?" If she was going to be living upon this island now, she might as well start to get to know others. Besides, what damage would it do?[/blockquote] ! ohjeez. this was a short post... sorry vel. Ever since Mograine had been transformed into a unicorn he had been a loner, mostly because the others would not talk to him. He figured that if he was a horse and had seen a perfectly normal human boy transform before his eyes into a mythical horse-like creature, he would not want to talk to it either. This solitude had left Mograine with a different personality. He was very iritable now and lost his temper rather quickly.
Mograine flattened his ears a bit as the other unicorn seemed to be startled by him. What was this? Was she not happy to see another of, well, her own kind as it would seem? Mograine always took people, er, horses' initial reactions the wrong way.
"Mograine." he said in an annoyed tone. She was just trying to be friendly wasn't she? "I'm so sorry to disturb you. I'll just let you be." he said as he turned on his heel and proceeded to walk away.
