This land that I'm from, you don't see it like I do.. Soot-black hooves bore down relentlessly among the presumingly dead ground below. The shady grey outline of the mare who followed them almost blended into the fog which was starting to ascend among the land. Against the dark of night, the majority of her body blended into the background as just another shadow -- but her eyes, they stood out like a sore thumb when compared to the rest of her. So lively and bright, glowing with green and brown shimmering streaks, it's presumed that the eyes are the window to the soul. Her name by birth had been Double Dare, but as the years had passed she'd shortened it to just Dare. The reasoning behind the name had been random in her mother's doing, however they'd slowly find ways to shine through the mare's personality. For example, no matter how crazy an idea would seem, if you dared her to do it and thought she wouldnt -- she'd go ahead and try to prove you wrong.
She never seems to stay in one place long enough. It's become quite a habit for her to wander into the expanse of some herd's territory in the dead of night, perhaps meet them, then wander off once again as if nothing happened; disappearing in the same manner as in which she'd arrived -- out of the blue, in the dead of night. She doesn't tie herself down to anything, for just as she's grown accustomed to it, the ever present urge to leave and see new things. Such a restless spirit, was it a blessing or a curse? It had its advantages and it had its thorns, all depending on which angle you looked at it from. All she seemed to seek were new horses, new faces, and new places to know. They may say curiosity killed the cat, and that may very well be true in this case as well, however she had not a care in the world what she did nor where she went. If things went bad, she'd simply leave again. No surprise there.
The mare tossed her thick black mane in the wind as she continued, tail held high and flowing as she continued on, making her way amongst the gnarled, twisted trees and pasture. The darker patch of fur which composed a marking on her quarters moved with every gallop she took, almost as if flapping. Though, that'd be a mere illusion. But whose to say it wasn't so?..each grave tells a story, but you can't hear them, can you? Muse: [in edit #1] Refound due to a good 1400's or so medieval movie.. Character: Dare

The ivory Arab trotted through the deserted lands of the darks. It had been a while since she was here. In fact, the last time she had set hoof in these parts is when she came to this island several years ago. It seemed much longer than that now. The mare now barely remembered her life back with the humans. She liked it here on Isola Dei Dei much better.
The ghostly vixen slwoed to a walk when the cool, spring air brought a new scent to her attention. It was another equine. Phantom took a couple steps forward, trying to locate where it was coming from. After amoment or two, she detected it and broke into a easy jog. As she got closer to the source, she could now tell that it was another mare.
--
The ivory mare slowed as she caught sight of a grey vixen in the distance. Phantom's chocolate orbs locked onto the mare's movements for a minute, trying to tell whether or not she posed a threat. Phantom decided to take her chances. Perhaps she could find a new herd member for her leader, Fiana's, herd. And perhaps this mare owuld want to become a warrior. Terra De Rocas really needed more horses willing to go into battle.
The vixen raised her greyed maw in the air and let out a whinny. She did not step any closer, she just froze in her place, intently observing and waiting for a return call.
Muse: Blah Notes: lol sorry I replied with my Phantom but she is the only open darkish character I have at the moment. = Also I'm sorry for the shortness of this, I'm in a rush right now.

This land that I'm from, you don't see it like I do.. The mare continued, hooves beating down on the ground relentlessly with no end in sight nor mind. She didn't know where she was aiming to go, nor did she care. Her eyes scanned the endless horizon before her, from the trees to the far off mountains and forests, watching it with orbs filled of curiosity and lust--lust to wander. Her ears twitched slightly, rotating around a bit as the sounds of another equine's aknowledging whinny reached her. She slowed her gait, examining her surroundings more intently before she locked her gaze on the mare.
Coming to a subtle stop, she locked eyes with the Arab, raising her maw as well and returning a whinny. She did not know this other horse, nor did she know her purpose or lineage. But alas, that's what sparked her anxiousness twice more. She raised her front leg slightly, taking a few cautious steps towards the ivory vixen with a questioning expression.
Tilting her head a few degrees, she wandered closer, examining the mare's stance as if to read whether or not she was a threat...each grave tells a story, but you can't hear them, can you? Phantom cokced her crown as the vixen looked her direction and continue to stare at her, as if she was assessing Phantom in some way. The ivory's dainty audits twitched as the mare returned her call. The other vixen's vocals did not give away whether or not she was unhappy with Phantom's prescence here.
Phantom knew to be cautious in these lands, she had come from them herself. It was funny to think that she used to be one of those cruel Darks, now she was more of a Dark Neutral, and that was just fine. The herd she lived with seemed to be Neutrals leaning more toward the Darks, but they had allied with the largest Light herd around, so they must not be too bad right?
The ivory vixen lifted her tiara a bit as she strode forward to meet the other equid face to face. Phantom may look like a petite Arab, which she was, but she had a helluva attitude and could put up as much fight as two horses. She wasn't concerned about being attacked today. "'Ello?" she called out as she halted several strides away from the other fae, wating for her reply before she ventured any closer.

This land that I'm from, you don't see it like I do.. The shadowy vixen raised her head slightly from it's tilted position and wandered forward once more. This time she raised her tail as well, flicking it around as subtle as possible as she watched. Her face showed no expression other than curiosity for what side the mare aligned herself with, but her eyes shimmered with untold mischief. "Hello there." She answered in a chillingly soothing voice, coming to a stop as she noticed the other mare was backing away from her. The ghastly surroundings had set a dark mood for her, not because she didn't like it -- for she did, but because it inspired and kindled the dark flames far beyond the limits which she'd set for herself many full moons past. Dare took one more step towards the mare, adjusting her body language to make it seem like she posed less of a threat than she might come off as. "My name is Double Dare." She called out, making her identity known. "May I ask who are you?" Black tassles on her tail flicked about her ankles as she waited anxiously for a response...each grave tells a story, but you can't hear them, can you? Aro ........ VOICES, yes, he heard voices. Was he crazy? Maybe a bit fucked up, but not that crazy... Nah, Aro wasn't crazy. He was just a dark old bastard who loved to torture. Yes, that was it. The bastard grinned to himself as he followed the voices, mares, apparently. Aro could hear one announce her name, Double Dare. Dare? His cream audits drew forward. That was in the list of the best names he had heard. Along with a few back in Morte.
SILVER pillars approached to two mares, one he knew as Phantom. Phantom was under Fiana's rule, and Rocas and Morte were enemies. 'phantom...' He acknowledged the pale mare dryly. 'miss, i am aro, lead of valle nera di morte. may i ask, what are you doing in terra de scure, the dark claiming grounds? i can gladly supply you with a home.' The kiger mustang smiled lightly. 'but i have to say, my land may be... how do i say this... unappealing, or unappitizing, to some. it's deadly in it's own way, much like the darks who live there. ' He let a small laugh escape. Evil bastard... Aro grinned. 'i'm sorry to barge in, miss. and i couldn't help but overhear, is your calling dare, double dare perhaps?' The bastard grinned. 'i can offer you protection and possibly a rank. warrior, brood mare, which i don't know why i mention, it is... most unappealing to faes.' He laughed, sounding more like the fucked up bastard he was.

« Welcome to the other side »
Dare's ears flicked to the side slightly as her senses caught on to the sounds of approaching hooves, nostrils twitching softly at the lingering scent of a stallion which she'd not noticed before, due to being caught up in the other mare's presence. She shifted her hazel-eyed gaze to his, locking and holding it there as if to aknowledge him as he spoke. The tone in his words and the land which he described added more fuel to the re-kindled flame, shining brightly in her expression as what could only be described as a natural affinity for the darker side of things. She kept her stance relaxed, haunches and quarters held at more ease than others might have when confronted twice in an environment such as this.
"Yes, my name is Double Dare, though many choose to simply call me Dare." She spoke, tossing her forelock aside as her gaze wandered to the mare and back to him once more.
"I was merely passing through.." she started, searching her mind for the words to explain that she'd never really stayed in one place long enough to be part of a herd for more than a few consecutive days. A deeply-rooted feeling in her gut, however, decided to show its face and tell her otherwise, if for once in a blue moon. She debated the arguments in her head once again, realizing that the only thing she had to lose was.. well, maybe a few days' time, if she changed her mind.
"Tell me more about this land you speak of.. it must not be that unappealing to you, if you come to recruit me to it..?" She held her ground without movement, however, not taking a step towards nor from the stallion.

The ivory's audits flicked as the mare, dubbed Double Dare, began to speak by greeting and introducing herself. Phantom had no doubt that the vxen was a dark, just from the way she seemed to light up in these lands. A small smirk danced across Phantom's grey tinted muzzle, for she felt this way to in lands like this. Phantom had always loved the darker side of things. In fact she loved everything about the darks, except for pointless killings and the way that their cokcy stallions acted.
Phantom's cholate orbs locked back on Dare as she asked for her calling. "Phantom, Lead Warrior of Terra de Rocas." the ivory fae replied, giving away her name and status in her herd as most equines did upon meeting each other. Just as Phantom opened her mouth, she caught sight of another horse. Aro to be exact. Phantom flattened her audits for a moment as he trotted up. Aro was one of those setreotypical Dark stags.
Her optics followed his form as he moved around the two mares. Obviously he was here to recruit Double Dare for his herd. To Phantom, Dare looked like a restless spirit who liked to move along every few weeks. Maybe she should just let Aro 'have' Dare, but of course Dare would probably would want to go with him since his lands had a darker tone than hers did.
The fae's eyes narrowed as Aro spoke her name. "Aro." she said curtly. "What a surprise to see you here." Phantom said, her vocals oozing with sarcasm. The stag then began to move on to Dare to recruit her just as Phantom had suspected. "Well," Phantom said rather loudly to get the attention of the other two equines. "I should get going." she sadi as she turned a bit. "Good luck Aro!" she added with a wink. "Oh and Dare, if you like your freedom as much as you do, I'd chose a different path if I were you." Phantom told the vixen, nodding her head toward a path that led to other darks lands, away from Aro's. With that, the Arab broke into a trot and left the pair alone.

Dare nodded to the ivory mare as she introduced herself, shifting her focus away from Aro and more to the situation at hand, to the two horses that stood before her. She very well realized that she was being recruited, and though she didn't mind the thought of getting to know a herd..a bit longer than usual, Phantom's comment began to echo in her mind. She could inference that it'd been a warning about the stallion and his herd's tendencies, and she could feel her intuition acting as a gravitational pull, away from the stallion and after the mare. But alas, before she could question her more on why she'd said so, the mare was gone. Now it was just the two of them, and whatever her decisions might bring.

Aro ........ COPPER eyes glared after the pale mare. 'i assure you, i make exceptions with mares. you, however, are an exception. you look strong, high-spirited and you look like you would do my herd some good.' Aro grinned.

The black tassles of her tail flicked about her legs anxiously as he spoke. She tilted her ears back slightly, taking a step or two in the stallion's direction then stopping, as if to test his reactions. "Very well then.." she whispered, softly under her breath as she reassured herself once more that it wouldn't do much harm to simply try.. "I'll gladly join your herd." The vixen's hazel eyes examined the area around the two once more, taking a step back so that he may take the lead.
