The sun was warm upon her back, as the golden shafts of light fought their way through the mixture of foliage of the woodland canopy to reach it and she felt surprisingly joyful. Spring had been cold for her, in her wanderings and now she had happened upon lands in which Summer truly was Summer. The golden sphere hung spectacularly in the sky, threatening to parch the lands dry if there were inadequate amounts of water to feed the emerald blades that kept many to life. Birds twittered happily in the trees, flitting here and there, going about their own day to day lives without many cares. She sometimes wondered what it would be like to be something else, another creature than an equine, a rabbit perhaps, with a fluffy white tail, who bounded and hoped around at Dawn and Dusk. Or a bird, with their wings of endless freedom. But no, she was a horse. It was as simple as that.
Her three years of life had gone slowly she thought, leaving her own herd as a yearling, inexperienced and fragile to the world, ultimately exposed and her body could have been her downfall. It drew stallions to her, her pelt such a unique colour, it mesmirised many. Wandering had taught her many ways of the world, she had no real following, the causes of the lights and the darks were not something she fully understood, so she thought herself neutral for her indifference. The valley she was in now, had such an array of scents, so many horses, but they never seemed to stay, for they were all aging, a sign that the horse that left the scent had long gone, something that was curious to the inquisitive young mare. She slowed to a halt, under the large spread shade of a tree and scanned around, seeking signs of other horses nearby.

Aro The palomino overo trotted through the lands boredly. Oh, wasn't this fun? The stallion was looking through the lands for other equines, to take into his herd. The old leader, Quixtant had been attacked and killed by two bears, allowing Aro to take over his land. And Tightrope and Quixtant's twins, he forced them out. The stallion wanted his own. God. How he needed to reorganize his herd. As soon as he was back, he would. And he also needed to get his bloodlines going again. remind myself to pick up some more brood bitches. How giddy he felt having his own land again, and not sharing it. How wonderful!! Aro was deep in his thoughts about his new land, when he heard the movement of something in the grass ahead of him. The stallion arose his cranium, to see a mare. 'ello love, and what is a fine madam like you out all alone on this wonderful day?' His british tone seeming harmless and casual, he went up to her casually.

He seemed quite sure of himself in a laddish sort of way. That was one of the first things that jumped into her head as she watched him approach, but he made him quite dashing. Quite attractive in an odd sort of way. She eyed him warily though, travelling had taught her caution and initial appearences could be deceptive.
'Sir. I am alone so far through my own choice, I have been a wanderer, since my yearling days, though I am quite at thought of settling down into a herd. I am Sequoia, sir.'
Manners now, just out of polite courtesy, as she knew nothing of him, though she had a funny feeling she would find out more.
'I gather this place is a sort of claiming grounds? Stallions seek mares, that sort of thing?'
She watched him eagerly, just maybe she would end up going home with him. But what of him? Did he have an alliance? Sequoia had never put thought to alliance, but now she realised she would have to perhaps. A home was what she craved now. A herd, a stallion? The security.

She gave him a smile back, before parting her lips to reply.
'Of course. It is my wish now to join a herd, one that is right for me. Could you offer me that? If you have a herd what would you say to.... entice me?'
She did find him attractive, her eyes had run themselves over every inch of his frame and found little fault, he seemed all over a strong, stout stallion, a worthy herd leader. But could he make her, his?

Aro nodded. 'yes, i come to bring you into my harem, valle nera di morte. it's mainly covered in dense forestry, many fruit and oak trees. we have a few mountians, which house some for the higher ranks. it's lovely, and very large.' Amber eyes looked over the mare, before stating his calling. 'i am aro.' [/blockquote] Muse` Haven't had any all day Song` None. Character` Aro

As he gave a description of his lands she listened intently smiling lightly. Aro. Was this the name of her future herd leader? He would have to say more than describe his land to secure her..
'Well Aro. That all sounds lovely, how many others reside upon your lands?'
