Lassan looked up to the star speckled sky as he wandered around the main valley, looking for a nice place to sleep for the night. So much had been going on lately and he just needed a break for once. The stag finally found a nice spot of long grass near a lone willow tree. That looked like a nice spot. Maybe he would even lay down to sleep for once.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lassan foudn himself in Terra De Liberta, but there was something different about it. First of all it was sunset and the sky was orange and pink, making the normally green grass look slightly gold. That wasn't normal right? His land also seemed a bit bigger then he remembered. He snorted and picked up a trot heading into the forest. He stopped by the river and waterfall and looked aorund. Why was he here? He hadn't come here since who knows how long. It was then when he saw her standing by the water. Could it be? It looked just like her, hell it even smelled just like her, but she was gone. How could this be? He took a hesitant step forward and whinnied to her.
Artava Here comes goodbye, here comes the last time, Here comes the start of every sleepless night, the first of every tear I'm gonna cry.
Artava rose her head up from the water. She flicked her dark colored tail, and looked forward. A dark colored stallion looked ahead at her and whinnied. She rose her head up more. Lassan? Smiling, she leapt over the bank of water and galloped to his side. Lassan! Oh, Lassan! She touched his nose with hers. Memory seeped through her veins, replacing the emptiness and weightlessness in her. It was like she was in the arms of an angel, gifted to see her Lassan again. She nudged him happily. A single tear ran down her pretty little face. Finally, she found comfort here. I'm sorry, that I left you and our daughter so suddenly. I'm sorry, Lassan.. Her eyes looked at him, and she sighed. [[Hell, I actually started crying abit while I was writing this. It didn't help any that I was listning to "Arms of an angel"]]
Lassan remained frozen in his place. Was it really her? But how? The first thought that came to his mind that she was a phantom, like Raine turned out to be. Something then told him that she wasn't like that, using her afterlife to basically huant him. He then snapped out of his thoughts and looked to the Arab mare galloping at him. He wasn't so scared now.
A smile broke out on Lassan's maw when her velveteen nose touched his own. "Artava." he said. It felt so good to say that name again, so very good. He still couldn't believe that she had died the way that she did. If only he was there. He would've taken her place, being killed by those canines. Beside her, River was the only mare he would do the same for, but she was gone as well.
Yes it was true, she did leave them too soon and too suddenly for either of their likings. Lassan smiled at her, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes. "Well you're here now and that's what matters, right?" he asked her in a choked voice.
The light bay smiled and nuzzled his neck. She missed him and her daughter so much. The golden turf, warm air, and blue lakes in this world would never compara with spending every day with those she loved. Sighing, taking in his scent, she rested her muzzle near his shoulder. Right, Lassan. I just hope you are happy. She said simply. I could not bear to live here without knowing if you are happy or not. She could remember there days on the beach, and the war, and her beloved foal like she still had all that.
She closed her eyes tightly and counted to three in her head, hoping to open them and see she had her life back. But she was still standing here, in the gold turf and large laked land that never ended. She touched his crest lightly, and breathed warmly on him. And don't let Illindream do anything stupid. I have seen her a few times when I close my eyes, she is there. And she is racked with guilt. She said, her muzzle on his coat.
Lassan couldn't help but beam when the Arab mare nuzzled his boa. He closed his orbs and opened them again, almost wishing for the scene to disappear so it would just be him and Artava standing in the dark shadows of the night in Terra delle Liberta. But of course, that wasn't going to happen. Not now, not ever again. The only time he could see Artava was in his memories and if he was lucky, in wonderful dreams like this one.
Lassan glanced to her as she spoke. She hoped he was happy. He gave her a small smile and said. "I'm happy, but not as much as when you were around." It was true. Well half true. He wasn't really that happy, but he missed her terribly. Lassan pulled back from her and looked her in the eye. "Are you happy?" he asked. Was that a stupid question? "I mean I know you're not, you're not, well you know here but are you happy where ever you are living now?" Lassan gave her an almost shy smile and laid his crown back on her shoulders, waiting for her reply.
She then spoke about their seal bay filly. Illindream had been blaming herself for her mother's death. Lassan hadn't really seen her around, even when he went looking for her, but he knew that she was there. First she would probably have to work things out with herself before being seen around the herd again. In fact, Lassan would go looking for her after he woke up; a thing he never wanted to do. "I'll go talk to her." he said. "I dunno if it will help, but I can try." A thought then came to him. What if he couldn't help her? Would a yougner horse be able to help her? Shadow could probably go and talk to her, or even Polaris. He knew Polaris, though a few months younger than Illindream, was quite fond of the seal bay Arab.
