Chiara looked down at the ground and took twenty three more steps before finally coming up with an answer.
"Well, I grew up in the Land Of Sparkling Stars, about 600 miles away south of this island. My father was a crazy dark stag, who was also very strong and had amazing endurance from the slight arabian blood in him. He drove me across all six islands, running at full speed or swimming when he chased me, after I accidentally tripped, falling into a river, and pulling... a new foal... with me..." she choked. "I made it... but the foal didn't. Enterasawn was so angry... he... he..." She stopped, regaining her calm. "He kicked me and bit me until I was weak from blood loss. And then, he waited for me to get better, and drove me 600 miles away to this place when I was only less than a year old. I then wandered this place at the beach, until I came here, and found you."
She finally finished, and finally looking up at Lassan, deep into his eyes, watching his reaction to her words carefully.

Lassan looked at her as she finished her story. "That's horrible." he said. "I can assure you that you will be kept safe here Chiara. Why did he make you go to all those places if you don't mind my asking?" He flicked his banner, wonering about her father. Was he some kind of maniac? And where was her mother through all of this? Lassan had so many questiosn to ask her.

Chiara took the invitation to tell more her story.
"Well, my mother bred with my father and then left him after he began abusing her. He went crazy; he would breed over and over again, almost unhealthily, to young mares, and watch them every second of the day, like a stalker. If they would leave, he would take it out on everyone. And I mean, EVERYONE, in the herd. And, he had just come back from chasing a mare, trying to get her back, when he heard about what I did. I don't know what drove him to drive me so far, but it was like something in him snapped. He just went crazy; he wasn't thinking at all, I could tell, even at my young age. I didn't want to be killed; trust me, he would do it; so I just ran and ran from him, no matter how numb my legs became, no matter how many times I fell or choked on water," she finished, flinching and looking down again. She felt ashamed for her humble early life.

Lassan listrened to her story. As she told it he began to think. If her mother let because she was fed up with Chiara's father, why didn't she take Chiara along with her? Surely she loved her. There has to be some reason. I want to know, but I don't want to ask her, it might just upse Chiara. If her father was here now, I'd like to give that bloke a piece of my mind. How could he do that. Especially to a foal!? It just anges me to hear about it.
"That's awful." he commented when she was done tellign her story. "Why didn't your mother take you wth her when she left?" he mentally scolded himself for asking such a question, but it was almost like he had to know.

Chiara took a deep breath and continued. Though it pained her to speak of the incident, it made her feel better to talk to Lassan in an odd way.
"Well, they kept all the foals in a secluded area of the forest, by the river. My mother had to travel north, and my father was watching the foals play by the river when she left. She couldn't have gotten me. She ran, and father went after her, and then I tripped and caused the foal to drown."
Chiara took another deep breath and looked over at Lassan, sighing and continueing the slow but steady pace.

Lassan looked at her with a certain sadness in his optics as she told the rest of her story. "I'm sorry." he said softly. He glanced over to her as they walked on. she let out a sigh and moved on slowly. Lassan remained qiuet for a few minutes before speaking again. "Sp how long have you been on Isola Dei Dei?" he asked her, trying to change the subject.

Chiara smiled as he asked his question.
"I have only been on the island for about four months now," she answered calmly, looking ahead. She had moved on as suddenly as when her mournful past was brought up. She breathed in deeply, and a sudden pain hit her stomach. She frowned and shifted, stretching a bit, and the pain faded and ebbed away. She peered around, sneaking a side glance at handsome Lassan, and then looked straight again. "And yourself?"

Lassan could tell that her past was slowly coming back to haunt her. He let the subject drop as she asked him about how long he had been on the isle. "Oh I've been here my whole life. Born and raised. Though its probably hard to tell since I do not have a native Italian accent." he stated. His mother had been from Ireland and his father from Scotland. Growing up Lassan had learned to speak with a mix of the two accents. "I quite like it here. How about you?"

Sparrow smiled as she listened to him.
"Your childhood sounds enjoyable," she murmured, though careful not to sound sorry for herself. Though he had a good childhood, or so she thought, she didn't want to seem selfish. "I believe it's enjoyable. I haven't had anything quite yet to make the experience worthwhile, yet," she added slyly, smiling to herself. --With you on that low muse. :/

"Mostly enjoyable." he added. He really didn't feel like telling her the bad part of his younger years at the moment. He flicked his obsidian whipcord and continued on walking. His audits licked as she spoke. "Nothing eh?" he commented. "Like what?" he asked, glacning to her.

Chiara's smile quickly disappeared, and she spoke seriously.
"Finding somewhere to live, someone to love, have children, and live my life the way I have always dreamed it," she murmured quietly, looking down at the ground before glancing at Lassan and back. She sighed and snapped her whipcord, shaking her nape, tossing her dreads around.

Lassan smiled sadly to her. "Yes, thats what we all want." he said quietly, a certain sadness in his orbs. He shook his head and looked a her again. "Fancy a run?" he asked, a new energy to his vocals.

Chiara smiled brightly and rolled her eyes playfully.
"I'll give you a head start, you'll need it!" she said. Then, after pausing a half-second, she let out a massive buck and took off at a dead sprint, increasing speed quickly but continuing to increase speed as she ran. She peeked out of the corner of her eye to see where he was, watching carefully.
As she ran, she flicked her heels up playfully at him and snapped her tail in his face.
"Come on, is that all you've got?" she challenged, laughing. She could still be fun when she wanted to.

Lassan smiled as she took off running. He waited for a moment before taking off after her, his bodice becoming an ebony blur. He snorted and gave a few bucks as he neared her bodice.
Lassan snorted as her banner gently whacked him in the face. With a sudden burst of speed, Lassan moved four strides ahead of her, and then slowed again. "Is that all you've got?" he replied with a smirk and took off once more.

She giggled brightly and sped up more, her muscles surging, speeding about ten strides ahead of him, her dainty figure a blur with unreal speed.
She smiled as she slowed down, now running side-by-side with him.
"Ahh, I could run forever," she breathed, knowing he could hear. Optics closed, and her audits flicked back, shutting off sound, before forward again. She surged on again, her heart pounding in her throat, her breathing quick but not labored, her steady hoofbeats ringing in her ears, the ground sure and steady under her pillars...
