The dappled bay Arabian stood by a mellow creek, her short perked ears flicking delicatly side by side. Her tail flicked delicatly as the snow fell upon her light pelt. Her daughter, Illindream, was almost a year old. She was growing up, and Artava was proud.
As for River, Artava had heard rumor that she up and left. Just..left. Artava didn't know whether or not that was true, all she knew was that she wanted to see and speak to Lassan.

Lassan walked through his land, his crown hung low. He didn't know what had happened to River, she jus sort of vanished. Lassan was heartbroken, he didn't know what to do. He let out a sigh as he saw Artava up ahead. He walked up next to her and looked into the creek, not saying anything.

A little blue roan came tagging along. With her mother's disappearance, Shadow was somewhat distraught. She was still young, just under a year; so, she was rather dependent. She had to be around someone. Fortunately, her father was there. And, since she had been completely weaned before her mother left, she didn't need a mare to provide her with any milk. She did need horses that could teach her the 'tools' she would need to grow into an independent mare who could lead a herd. Who better to teach her than her own father.
As she followed up behind him, she saw Atrava and Illindream come into sight. The mare stopped, halting a few meters behind her father, the little filly stomped her foreleg. With a snort, she watched Atrava and her father with a cautious eye.

Tears sparked her ragged feeling eyes as Lassan came into view. Her head admitly rose to look at his. Her ears perked as she looked at his familair frame. She had knwon him for so long. They where more like best friends then mates.
Her deep eyes looked at Shadow, and she felt sadness for the young filly. Her heart pinged just thinking about her circumstance. She attempted a smile before bringing her head under Lassan's and raising it up to full height.
"It'll be OK, Lassan. She love's you." She whispered loving, nuzzling his chest before backing up. She glanced at the blue roan fluff ball and sighed.
"She'll be back..if not soon, later. But I just know she will be back." She encouraged, trying to amke herself trust her own words. She gulped down, her salvia harshly running down her parched throat. Her head throbbed and she felt..horrible all of the sudden.
But love can never, ever go away. You may think so, but you will always have that feeling of utter love. She knew it would hit River. Maybe she would come back. River was always sensible. Always.

Lassan just stood there as Artava spoke. How could River just up and leave? It crushed him. He had to be strong for the rest of his herd though. He sighed and raised his crown. He desperatly hoped that she would come back. Lassan looked to his friend and ave her a weak smile. He then noticed Shadow. He let out a whinny, calling her over to him. She must feel worse then him, loosing her mother.

The little filly seemed indifferent about approaching the two. However, her father’s beckoning was not something she could ignore. So, her little hooves began shifting forward at a lofty trot. Shadow came to a halt at her father’s side, just between him and Atrava. Her head was c ocked to one side. She had heard Atrava’s words, but she was not very optimistic.
However, her head straightened before giving a solemn nod. She wasn’t so confident that her mother would be coming back, though she sorely wished she would. Oh how she did miss her! But, why was Atrava so concerned?
The filly had yet to understand relations between two equines completely – they always seemed so complex. Afterall, her mother never got along with Atrava from what she had noticed. It was all so very baffling, and she decided not to query it.
The blue-hued filly glanced over to her father. He seemed so grimaced by this whole situation, and she completely understood. Her small towers lay flat for a moment as she seemed to be thinking about what to do or say next. Finally, her muzzle tapped her father’s neck, bestowing it with a soft nudge. Part of her was angry with her dad; she thought he had driven River away. At the same time, he was her father, and she loved him dearly. So, any anger she held could be subsided for the moment at least.

Lassan turned his crown when he felt a gentle nudge on his obsidian neck. His daughter was standing there with him. He flashed her a sad smile and put his muzzle to hers. This had to be even worse for Shadow, having her mother leave so suddenly without a word. Lassan had yet to tel his daughter that she was now head of the land with him. "Shadow, now that your mother is gone, you have to take her place in the herd as Lead Mare. Are you ready for this love?" Lassan had no clue if his daughter was ready or not for this. She wasn't even a year old yet, it could be to much for her.
