Aiden was almost surprised that Malice had figured that he had been questioning it in his mind. She knew him all too well. He was so logical and methodical. Everything had to have a reason behind it, and Aiden had to know that reason even if he had to dig to find the answer out. Malice's reason sounded liek agood one. They had previously been sharing the sight of the beautiful night over the ocean, so why not let her show him another spot. Mares seemed to like that kind of thing.
The Fire Lord's eyes flicked to the sky as he saw a phoenix flying overhead. Those birds realyl seemed to like Malice. Aiden just used them to send messages and spy in return for a safe homeland. Malice almost seemed to befriend the winged creatures. Aiden enver saw how a horse, let alone a Zunden, could make friends with something like and eagle or phoenix. He could only see how they could be used for his own benefit.
He quickly recognised the path out of the border. He knew many areas around his own land, but only things off the main path. Aiden never really had a reason to leave, that was what the eagles and phoenixes were for. The stag slowed his gait a bit and allowed Malice to have room to lead the way.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,392,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true] | [bg=#ffffff]The terrain around them seemed to turn jagged and rough, as the pair moved past Fuoco's borders, a small flare of fire dancing up Malice's shoulder, disappearing almost as instantly as it was there. Tilting her ears back, she glanced over her shoulder at the Lead, letting a gentle, serene smile cross her maw. Finally, they made it to the path that led to the cliffs, and Malice paused for a brief second. |
Watch your step, the mare spoke to her companion, then headed up the rocky path, making sure to step careful so she didn't get any sharp rocks jutting into her hooves.
Glancing from side to side, Malice looked for the indicator that they were going to be taking the fairly steep route down the cliff side. Seeing it, finally, a large boulder jutting out of the ground with red swirls on it, Malice turned sharply to her left, disappearing for a moment out of Aiden's view. But, if he were to step forward, and turn to his left, he would see Malice carefully making her way down the steep slope. As soon as she got to the bottom, her hooves touching the soft grass of the enclosed clearing, she turned to see if Aiden had made it safely down the slope. Ears flicked forward, taking a step back, so that her companion had some room to move once he had reached solid ground. Behind the ashen mare, she could hear the sound of the waterfall into the pond, that seemed almost endless. Little fireflies danced above the water's surface, touching here and there, causing small ripples to spread out across the water.[/blockquote] QUELLE SURPRISE [ enter shikari ] TWO SEVENTY FOUR LIZZEH 2011

Maroon optics flicked around as Aiden took in the rather jagged looking scenery around him. Interesting place. He knew many places on Isola Dei Dei to look like this, but he did not know that one was so close to his home land. In fact, it almost seemed familiar here. Perhaps he had passed through at one point after wandering a bit in other unclaimed sections. That would explain why he had never seen something like this so close to his own home. An error of his could have made him think that he was quite a bit aways from Fuoco.
The Fire Lord's audits flicked as Malice told him to watch his step. Of course he was going to. What kind of horse wouldn't watch their step in a place like this? Those thoughts only ran through his mind and remained thoughts. Now was not the time for some sort of snarky remark like that no matter how badly he wanted to say it. Malice would probably not appreciate that and he did not want her mad at him. Again.
Aiden quickly made his way down the steep slope, much faster than Malice had. She was so careful to pick her way while Aiden just slid most of the way down, not wanting to bother with trying to balance carefully on his toes like Malice had been doing. The stallion quickly joined his friend on the cool, emerald grass. That was an interesting shortcut.
The more the Fire Lord looked around he realised that this was the only way in and out of this strange place. That he could see of course. There was the soft sound of water falling into a pool from a waterfall nearby as fireflies danced over head. It really was a nice place. Beautiful even. The only things Aiden ever referred to as beautiful were landscapes and fire. "Never knew that this place was here." he commented, breaking the serene silence between the couple.

Smirking sligthly at Aiden, the ashen mare turned away from the steep slope, looking toward the small pond with the fireflies. Ears twitched atop her head, as she walked forward, tail swaying slowly behind her. It's surprising what one can learn when accompanied by others,
the mare spoke gently, as she stood at the pond's edge, lowering her muzzle to drink the water. A few fireflies left their dancing above the water's surface to wander closer to the Lady, dancing around her head and body, lighting up the mare's markings. Smiling faintly at the insects, the mare glanced back to the stallion, an ear tilted toward him slightly.
Something gentle reflected in her eyes, as she stared at Aiden, but it disappeared almost as soon as it was there. Nostrils quivered as she turned her head away from Aiden, looking out across the waters. It had been quite some time since her mother had taken her here, and it made her sad that she couldn't have been here one last time before she passed on. Flicking her ears back, she clenched her jaw, not wanting to cry, not wanting to feel that sadness that she felt whenever her mother came into her mind.
Shaking her head violently, the mare stood still alongside the lake, her ears pinned flat against her head. Now, her thoughts turned onto Aiden, and she let out a sharp snort, scaring away the fireflies that had been dancing around her. He would never understand her feelings. It was that way when they were younger, too. He was so like a clueless colt, who knew nothing of feelings. Nostrils quivered, as her temper flared slightly, small flames twisting their way up her legs.[/blockquote] malice . two sixty nine . speech; crimson : normal; dark red . blood on my hands, the used . Aiden remained in his spot as Malice stepped forth to dip her delicate maw into the water. Yes, perhaps her words were true. When one was alone they were not in search of things such as this. When you were with someone else. Learning things could be accomplished either way, alone or with the company of another. Finding a beautiful place like this was meaningless unless there was someone to share it with. Why let all the beauty go unseen? It was selfish to want to keep something so beautiful hidden away.
The stallion continued to stare off into space as Malice turned toward him and away again. For now he was too engrossed with his own thoughts to notice anything going on with Malice. It had always been that way. Ever since he was little Aiden had been too engrossed in his own thoughts and how he thought every thing should be run so the world worked a little better. Emotions and displays of emotion were foreign to him. Emotion was something that Aiden could never understand. Yes, he tried and tried but nothing. It was almost as if he did not have the physical and mental capability to have emotions. Anger, he supposed, was what he felt most of the time. Anger and hate were all he ever knew. Yes he had friends and acquaintances, but the bonds he felt with them were nothing close to love. The closest thing to love so far was hi fondness for Firefly, the illegitimate child. Then there was Malice. She had caused him a great deal of mental stress. He was beginning to grow fond of her, just like he was rather fond of his daughter. Was this what love felt like? He wasn't sure, but if it was, well then love pretty much sucked.
All of the sudden Aiden was pulled out of his own mind as the light from flames around Malice's legs light up the night sky, causing the bugs around her to scatter. What the hell was this about? "Malice?" he asked as he took a few steps toward her. "Are you alright?" For once in his life he was honestly concerned for someone other than himself or Firefly.

Oh, so now he cared? Ears twitched as he spoke, and she breathed in deeply, the flames along her legs dying down some. Eyes closed, as she tried to calm herself, her body still remaining fairly still as she stood at the edge of the beautiful pond. Upon opening her eyes, she looked to the Lead, ears still tilted back against her head. It's nothing you should worry yourself about, Aiden. Nothing is going to change anyways,
her voice was soft, and she turned away, lowering her head to take a drink from the water. Her head swam with unsettling thoughts, most she hadn't ever believed she would think of. Ears lifted from her skull gently, tilting toward the sounds of the waterfall nearby, and she lifted her head to look at it. Crimson eyes danced mysteriously, hooves moving the mare along the bank of the pool of water, toward the waterfall. Tilting her head as she got close, she realized there was something there that her mother hadn't shown her before. Well... I'll be damned, the ashen mare whispered under her breath, and disappeared behind the waterfall, entering a small cave. Flames licked at her hooves, as she lit up the cavern, and her eyes widened in shock. Small gems littered the floor, walls and ceiling, all glittering faintly as the mare walked deeper into the cave. Crimson eyes wandered from each gem, curious as to how they got there, and how they remained hidden for so long. Glancing over her shoulder, she wondered if Aiden had followed after her, or if he was still standing beside the pond, lost in his own thoughts like he always was. Shaking her head gently, Malice turned away from the entrance to the cave, continuing to walk deeper and deeper, mesmerized by the glittering gems around her.[/blockquote] malice . three hundred twelve . speech; crimson : normal; black . savior, the used . it's slowly getting better! . The Fire Lord wanted to pin his ears back at the mare's words, but he just didn't have it in him to do so. Her tone was so soft that she did not deserve such a thing. "I'm always worried about my herd members." he said. Now if he were a horse that was a bit more competent in social situations and more in touch with his feelings he might have added 'especially you' to the end of his statement. But, Aiden was Aiden and something like that would not come from his emotionally stoic mind. Even what he told her was not believable. There was never a shred of physical worry to be seen on Aiden's face or through his voice. Any emotion he had was more of an inner emotion that only surfaced in his mind and never broke through to the surface.
After a few minutes of brooding, Aiden realized Malice was gone. Where could she be? His maroon optics quickly danced around the alcove, not seeing her anywhere. That was strange. He would have noticed if she passed him, that was for sure. The waterfall. Aiden quickly jogged behind the cascading sheet of water, only to be greeted with the sight of a cavern illuminated by strange fluorescent gems. It was safe to say that Aiden was awestruck. He had never seen something like this before.
"Malice?" he called out, peering into the dim light of the cavern. Leave it to Malice to go exploring in something like this. With a small huff Aiden sauntered forward in search of his friend.

Smirking, the flames that had been illuminating the cave died upon Malice's body, and she turned, looking toward the entrance where she knew Aiden was. She snuck, the best a horse could, through the darkness, toward the Lord, her ears tilted forward. With the smirk still across the mare's muzzle, as she suddenly lit the cavern, the bright fires along her body roaring as she stood before Aiden, her crimson eyes upon the stallion. You called,
the mare asked, tilting her head. The flames upon her body died down slightly, the shadows finally taking their hold upon the deeper parts of the cavern.
Glancing behind her, Malice's eyes sparkled with the multitudes of gems, and as the ashen Zunden looked back at Aiden, that small smile spread, grinning like a fool at the stallion. Aiden.. why do you always block all emotion? It's like... you don't want to feel anything. Why have you always been like this, the mare walked to the stallion's side, reaching up along his neck and rubbing her muzzle along it gently. Just touching him sent shivers along her body, and she closed her eyes, breathing out slowly against his skin.
Something about him just drove her wild, and she clenched her jaw so that she could control the sudden urge to touch him all over. Malice didn't know if he would like that, and she was also afraid she'd be torched upon the spot.[/blockquote] malice . two sixty one . speech; crimson : normal; black . savior, the used . it's slowly getting better! . The stallion was waited in silence, his audits twitching, attempting to catch every little sound. Soon enough he heard the very soft clip clop of hooves on the cavern floor. Malice was obviously trying to sneak up on him. She was good, but not that good. The smirk that appeared on aiden's face when he figured out her little scheme died down as her voice rang out. Her body was illuminated by the inferno that she was able to control. Aiden thought playing with such powers in a dark cave was a bit childish, just to do it for the fun of it, but there was something deep down inside him that made him want to do the same.
"Just wonder' where you went off to is all." Aiden explained. "How far back does this thing go?" he asked her as he took a few steps forward and peered into the darkness. The illuminated rocks, though they gave off light, were not bright enough for a horse to be able to see deeper into the cavern. It was amazing things like this existed. Many of them would never be seen unless stumble upon by pure chance, just like this one.
The stallion turned his attentions back to Malice when she started to talk to him. What an odd question for her to ask. Aiden had always been this way, it was just who he was. He never thought any different, he was who he was. "I... I don't know Malice. Its who I am. I've been this way since birth. I can't change something like this. I am who I am." he answered her. That was only half the truth. He was born like that, true, but there something deeper. It was almost like he had a fear that getting too close to someone or something could compromise his judgment and then there would be something out there that others could manipulate him with.

I don't know how far back it goes, I just discovered it myself, the ashen mare mused, and smiled faintly. Nuzzling the stallion's neck gently, she closed her eyes, ears flicking as he explained why he was the way he was. It caused her smile to fade, a frown replacing it. She didn't know if she wanted to believe that that was the only thing, or if that there was something deeper, something psychological, about it all. Shrugging, the mare moved away from him, and began walking deeper into the cavern.
Lets explore, since there is nothing else to do, her voice ran through the cave as she disappeared into the shadows, the fire upon her coat extinguished as she rounded a corner. As she walked, her eyes drifted from the gems along the walls, to the ground, where small rivulets of water flowed into the cave from the waterfall. It fascinated her at what she could discover just outside of her front door. Flicking her tail, Malice paused, turning her head to see if Aiden was following after her.[/blockquote] malice . one hundred eighty seven . speech; crimson : normal; black . not alone, red . -- . "Well its a very interesting, unique place if I do say so myself. I'm actually surprised that you haven't discovered it before now. You strike me as the type that when you come here you lose yourself in your thoughts and wander around a bit. Then again, who ever thinks to look behind the waterfall? Its interesting as to what can really be underneath something isn't it? From the outside the water fall is just a waterfall; millions of gallons of water rushing down to the ground. A pretty sight it may be, but it is nothing more than what we see on the outside. If one chooses to take a closer look, to dig deeper, they find something extraordinary hidden behind the sheet of water. Suddenly the waterfall is a dimensional thing, something we are interested in, wanting to explore every bit of it and find the reason why the way it is." Aiden was actually shocked with himself for saying so much. Aiden was the horse who maybe got a few sentences out at a time. For some reason he had a lot to say tonight. Strange.
The stallion's maroon optics drifted sideways as he felt Malice touch his neck with her muzzle. Aiden honestly never understood the need for physical contact. He never wanted to touch anyone before, he had a few horses who thought they would get some kind of affection in return from him, but he just did not see how it could be satisfying. He had never once felt the urge to reach out and touch his muzzle to another horse. It was all so foreign to him.
Aiden smiled in response to Malice's proposal. Exploring was always fun, especially with a companion. The stallion broke into a canter after Malice, glancing at the ground as he ran. Caves were very slippery places, it would be tragic if he lost his footing while running through this cave. "Lead the way miss Malice." he said with a small smile.

Ears danced upon the ashen colored mare's head, crimson eyes drifting away from the Leader toward the cavern ahead. Shaking her forelock out of her eyes, she led the way, carefully moving so she didn't slip and slide all around from the water. Nostrils flared quite frequently, the strong scent of the dank cavern making her stomach churn. It wasn't like Malice to go romping around in unknown caverns, after all, and the smell was irritating her just slightly. The fire that had been illuminating her ashy coat still floated around her, the light reflecting on the gems as the two Zunden passed. Flicking her tail in a bored fashion, Malice was starting to grow weary of just walking through the cavern. As soon as they entered a large part of the cavern, where multitudes of horses could probably live, she stopped, and turned to look at her companion.
Crimson eyes surveyed the Lord, and her ears tilted back toward her skull. She was going to make him start feeling, at least something, and everything was going to change for Aiden. A thin smirk formed upon the Lady's maw, and she lifted her head up slightly. Aiden. I think it's about time we had a down to earth talk. Horse to horse. Friend to friend.
The mare didn't know exactly where she was going to go with their little conversation, and she didn't quite know what she was going to say. Ears danced atop her head once more, waiting, and watching, the stallion before her.[/blockquote] malice . two hundred sixty two . speech; crimson : normal; black . what hurts the most, rascal flatts . sorry for such a late post. :c . The entire time that the par was walking through the caverns, Aiden was looking all around, glad that Zunden could give off their own light. This was a very interesting place. Aiden had been in caves before, but not like this. He had stayed near the mouth of the cave where natural sunlight could filter through. He had never had any reason to go into a cave except to get out of the rain. Now he was deep in cave where the light of day could not reach their darkness. He was not in here to hide from the rain, but to explore with his friend. Aiden would honestly never do something like this on his own. The Fire Lord had come to realize after some time that he did things a bit differently when he was with Malice, his only true friend.
Aiden's maroon optics flicked to Malice and settled on her face as she tipped her ears back. Aiden resisted the urge to roll his eyes at her. What was this about now? Mares always seemed like they had something that was bothering them. It was usually stupid things that pissed them off and caused them to meddle to make things better. Aiden just figured that since no one was around with them now, he must have been the one to upset Malice this time. Fantastic.
The mare then opened her mouth and told Aiden that it was time they had a talk. Oh that's just great. I wonder what I did now to piss her off. I swear mares are the strangest creatures sometimes. They can never make up their mind and when they do make it up, they have to make everything better, wether or not anyone else wants it fixed. Nevertheless, Aiden perked his ears and looked at Malice with interest. "Well then, spit it out."

Her crimson eyes narrowed at Aiden, a slight twinge of anger befalling her once calm features, but it soon vanished. Breathing in deeply, enjoying the musty smells of the cavern around them, those crimson eyes blinked at the Lead. Aiden, there is no need to for such harsh words. I merely want to talk about the future of the herd. If we still have horses around to consider it a herd,
her words were chosen carefully, knowing she could upset him if she said the wrong thing. Flicking her ears gingerly on top of her head, she flared her nostrils, the flames that danced around her making the gems around the pair glitter faintly.
Tilting her head at her friend, Malice frowned. She was worried about the future of the Zunden. She had seen less and less of their herd members, and it wasn't getting any better with more horses wanting to rise to power on the island. Aiden glared at her as she said there was no need for such harsh words. Had his words really been 'harsh' as Malice had described? No, they had not. Aiden was just being himself and if his friend did not know that by now, then she did not know him at all. The fire Lord had been very irritable lately. There was just so much on his mind. His daughter, the herd, the rest of the island and the herds that inhabited it, everything was taking up the little patience that he had.
"Yes, the herd." Aiden spat with disdain. "This damn herd is so lazy. Most of them I don't see around, especially when I look for them. I'm constantly using those birds as messengers always sending the herd members news and calling small meetings. And now it seems like they have disappeared. I think we need to go make some sort of alliance with other elemental groups that would benefit us and our quest. If they agree to help, offer them protection in return as well as other privileges." Aiden said, looking into the darkness ahead.
