- ! - The mare stood under a very old, large willow tree, eyes watching her surrounds in a rather bored manner as she chewed absent mindlessly on a mouth full of grass. She had become bored wandering around her home lands endlessly, so she decided to take a walk. She had wandered to the waterfall forest and stood under the tree she had named Alda, meaning old in the island's native tongue. The small mare had taken quite a liking to it, visiting the tree whenever she could. Why did she like the tree so much? The mare had guessed she had a connection with the elder tree, feeling spiritual and relieved of stress each time she would come and stand under her. After all, she had known somehow the tree was feminine, even though she was just a normal horse.
Drawing her mind away from the tree, she locked violet gaze onto the nearby river. Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. Instead of sitting here, drowning in heat, why didn't she just go and mettle around in the river?
Reaching the river, she looked around carefully, surveying to make sure there weren't any dangerous creatures lurking around to cause injury to her. After all, she had a family to love.
Stepping carefully into the river, she immersed herself in hock deep, cool, running water. The mare bent over to take a sip, the cool water refreshing all the way down. Raising back up, she looked around, flicking an ear before picking up a striped leg and splashing in the water, the liquid splashing all over her. Giving a small laugh, she continued to splash before just laying down, letting the cool water surge over her torso.

The grey roan stallion heard the splashing before he saw the sorce of it. He had been this odd island for almost a year now, avoiding contact from any creature other than the ocasional loner like himself. He had found this place when he first arrived on the island, and for what ever reason, he happened to home back to this place after his wanderings. He missed his old territory, his mares and children. What he would give for a bit of sweet sagegrass, or some buffalo blue. His mouth water at the thought, but turned back to the problem at hoof. There was someone in his favorite clearing, by the river. He heard so whickering laughter, but who knows if it was friend or foe.
He lifted his nose to the wind and breathed deeply. Along with the forest smells, he could pick up the smell of a mare, out of season,. but a mare. He thought that it would be safe enough just to talk to her... Stepping forwards, he went through the bushes at the edge of the clearing and looked at the mare laying in the river. He walked up to her slowly, ears errect, his posture curiously friendly. "Hello, Lady...Miss. Are you from around these parts? If so, I hope I'm not intruding. I'm Chance, by the way. An honest wanderer, from a land across the great sea. May I ask your name?" He said, his voice friendly and warm. He stopped at the edge of the river, to give the mare space to run if she felt threatened at all. He was not a male to frighten or corner a female.

- ! - Ears flicked curiously muzzle lifting from the surface of the water, away from watching small fish nibble at her legs gently, a smile fading from her maw. The mare heard someone approaching her cleaning, ears perked as violet eyes searched for a culprit. Eyes finally locked onto a grey roaned mustang, a stallion. Snorting, she stood up and shook the water from her, flinging the liquid everywhere. Tensing, she eyed the stallion, unsure on how to react. Black and ivory whipcord flicked nervously as she watched, cocking her head to listen to him speak. So he was friendly, and not a dangerous stallion like she had suspected.
Giving a sigh of relief, she walked out of the river and let a bright smile lay on her maw before answering his questions. "I'm the daughter of the King of a large herd not far from here, so I guess yes I am from around these parts." She gave a small, timid giggle. "My name is Kibitala, but I'm mostly called Kibi. It's much easier and shorter. You?" She took a step forward to get a closer look, ears flicking.

Chance smiled at the mare came out to greet him. "I was once the King of a herd..but that was almost 2 years ago. I have not been called by my name since I was seperated from my band. Chance was the name, and I guess it still is now." he whickered, bending a knee and bowing gracfully to her before standing up straight again. His eyes traveled over her wet coat, glistening in the sunlight. Such odd markings... He looked into her violet eyes and something inside him shivered. This mare was a symbol of his new prison, but how could he say he hated this place to those eyes. She was beautiful...no, more than beautiful. She was of the Maker, a fine example of equine beauty and grace.
He shook his head gently and streched his muzzle out to her, his intent to ask for friendship. She was the first horse to be kind to him here, not just brush him off or chase him away. "Kibi...That name suits a fine mare like yourself." he said, softly breathing in her scent, and it strangly smelled like home...

- ! - The mare smiled faintly at him, nodding briefly. "That's a nice name," She began as he bowed to her. Giving a small giggle, she watched him as he moved toward her and reached his muzzle forward to her's. Giving a small smile, she nodded, accepting his request of friendship. "Thank you, Chance, but I'm really not all that wonderful. She replied, whipcord slapping on her multi-colored hocks.
"Whatever happened?" She asked quietly with a hint of curiosity, cranium cocking slightly. The mare stomped a striped leg, observing him. He looked a couple years older than her, and reminded her greatly of Frog. Which reminded her of Fantasma. What was she doing right now? Ears flicked as she gave a small snort, the heat beginning to bear down on her small body.

Chance huffed a laugh at the mare's fidgeting. "It's a long story, so we might as well stay cool in the river while I tell it." He started back into the water and then looked at her, his eyes alittle confused. "Your scent is all to familiar to me...I know you can't be..." he shook his head vigorously and looked down. "Never mind, I should not have said that...Sorry if it made you uncomfortable." He went knee deep into the river and paced in a tight circle before laying down. The water rushed over him and his wet coat made him look like a blue roan. He sighed and looked up at her. "Where to begin..." He decided he was going to wait till she layed in the river as well, before beginning his story. He watched the little fishes nibble at hooves and smiled. This felt wonderful. Talking to someone who accepted him as a friend in this glen that reminded him of home. This place might not be the prison he in-visioned it was...maybe he just needed to get his feet under him and get himself a band again. BUT, he would not force this mare to do anything. She was too good for the likes of him.
