The dust and dark sand coloured mare walked into the land. Sadness in her light amber opticals. Her soft black hooves hit the earth very softly. She had come here to find a new life and forget her old life and the ones in it. She was starting over, starting new. She walked under a tree and began to graze. She decided she would remain here until some one came to her. As she grazed she thought about the past five years of her life.
She was born into a high power herd, the daughter of the leads. She was to be the heir of the throne. That all changed when a fire struck and killed her whole herd. She was just a mere year old when this occured. She then lived alone until she was two. When she turned two, she made her way to Belle Valle to find a home. A odd coloured stag by the name of Lua took her in to his herd.
She soon had a foal with him. One event led to another and her foal got killed three weeks ago by a pack of wolves.
She looked aroud to see if any equine was coming her way.

thud. thud. thud. heavy footfalls upon the sodden ground announced the coming of the massive brute. black optics took in his surroundings as he walked - many of these places were still very new to him. he didn't always make such a rucus while he strolled, but today there were just too many things on his mind for him to think about attempting silence in his gait.
he had just claimed a new terrain, one which others already called home (he assumed, as he could smell traces of them there, but had yet to actually see them). but for now, he was content taking in all the sights that he could. as far as he could tell, this was one of the largest stretches of land he had ever come across. so large it seemed that all the pieces of it could simply not be unified under one name, but yet it appeared that they were. then again, it was nice to have a place to lose yourself in for a while and still know you were only a short distance from home and safety.
just then the stud caught the scent of a fatale, and not far from him. twin harks perked - it had been long since he had upheld a regular conversation with anyone, and he was in quite some need of social interaction. pushing his thoughts to the back of his mind, muscled pilliars took his large frame into a lofty, swingng two-beat as he navigated himself to where the fae should be, judging by her scent.
as he came over a hill in the terra, he saw her. and for but a moment he paused, his breath catching in his lungs. she was beautiful. such a being he had never seen - one of such fantastic coloring. as if the gods had splashed her with color, for one was simply not enough to justify her beauty. a low throaty whicker escaped his depths as he resumed motion toward her, black pools alert, but making sure to keep his posture non-threatening. he didn't want to scare her off.
as he aproached he still could not quite keep the awe out of his eyes. for a brief moment he let his eyes drink in the sight of her, her form, her color, her everything, before he realized that he was probably being quite nosy, staring and all. clearing his throat, he spoke his thickly accented tones. excuse me, love, for i mean not to stare. i am kijken, he said, his words escaping his maw in his low, soft tones. king of terra del canyon nescosto. might i say, miss, i have never seen an equine of your coloring before. he meant it as a compliment, and wanted to add that it was the most lovely coloring he had ever seen, but didn't want to be too forward. you'll be having a name as well then, love?

She turned her head as soon as she thought she heard the rhythm of hooves. Her light amber orbs focused on a obsidian form walking to her. The horse looked to ba a Friesian or a cross of the breed. She lifted her dust grey muzzle in the air an tested it. This black beauty was a stag. She had had experience with a stag claiming her before, and it was a horrible experience. She did not know what she should do. Stay and talk to the brute or high tail it out of there as fast as she could. She weighed her choices for a minute before making up her mind. If something bad happens, I can just run, so I guess I'll stay and speak to him. He looks safe enough.
She soon noticed that he was starring at her. She froze not knowing what the brute was going to do. He then spoke in soft, low tones. It was quite welcoming. He told her his name. Kijken. He then told her that he was the god of Terra de Canyon Nescosto. So he had power and a land. Maybe even a herd. She listened on as his vocals filled the atmosphere once again. He said he had never seen an equine of her colouring before. She decided to take it as a compliment. She soon noticed that the ebony stag asked her for her name. "Batalla." She said a bit catiously. She looked the ebony figure up and down. He was handsome, but she did not want to make the same mistake as before. "What brings you here?" She asked quietly.

batalla.. the word rang through his dome as if someone had struck a bell with a hammer. batalla. he rolled the name through his thoughts, tasting it in his mouth. it suited her, he thought, as he looked her over once again. simply stunning.
her voice met his auds again, her words sweet as honey to his ears, though she said little more than what was necessary and skipped all the flowery language. he smirked a bit at the thought. well, as did he. her question made him think, for he initially had no real reason for making his way to these grounds of claimance. it was a moment or two before he cleared his throat again, speaking. as i mentioned, i am lead of a terra. but this land is new to me, and i have yet to meet many other equines here. he paused, searching for the best way to explain what he was thinking. a herd isnt much of a herd if i am the sole inhabitor. i suppose i'm looking for others to join me in calling my land home.
normally after saying something as such, a stag would go to the mare and place a small nip of claimance upon her hide, making it known to all that she was his property, and thereby must accompany him to his lands. but as kijken stood there, looking at the dove, he changed his mind. instead, he moved forward slowly, dial still positioned in an unthreatening manner, and nudged her softly upon her silken shoulder. a sign of claimance, yes, but he would leave the decision up to her. you may come with me, batalla. if you'd like.

Batalla listened as he spoke, she gentley nodded her head. So this one had not been here long, he did not even know about Belle Valle, where most horses came to get claimed. She had gotten the part about him being the lead to a land, even before he told her, she knew he was. she could just tell by the way he carried himself, he was so sure and strong. If he were just another stag looking to be claimed, he would have come up to her a bit more mellow than he had. Batalla would study one's behavour to get to know them. She had always done this. It was sort of like an interragator studying the behaviour of a supposed criminal as they spoke to him to find out if he's guilty.
The black stag then paused for a moment, he seemed like he was trying to explian something to her. She nodded as he spoke, he was jsut another attractive brute looking for vixens liker herself to put a claim on. Not that she ever really minded, that was the way of life on this island for the equine inhabitors. She watchedwith her light amber optics as the ebony stag moved up to her and placed his soft muzzle on her dyst coloured shoulder. She knew it was a sign of claimence, but what if she did not want to go with the brute, what if the same thing happened as before. She would think he loved her, until he wanted to kill her and her foal. She was not going to let that happen again. Maybe she would still be lead mare of Lua's herd, if she never agreed to breed with him just then. If that never happened she would be happily grazing and talking to Kilo and Dess. How she missed her old herd mates. Shd did not miss Lua, for all she cared he could get killed right now.
She returned her attention to the one called Kijken. She then heard smething she never thought sge would hear from a stag, you may come with me, if you wish. He had given her a chioce. A chioce. He had to be the only one that did that. A thing such as that was unheard of. "I will come with you to your terra, but if I feel the need to, I wish to leave the herd at anytime." She was so fearful of something happening again, it scarred her for life. "Lead the way Kijken."

his dark optics ignited at her words of acceptance, bobbing his dial happily as he listened to her speak. she would come with him. the thought alone brought a smile to his usually somber features. then, however, she continued speaking. she wished for the ability to leave his herd at any time she felt necessary. he paused, stepping back from the fae a bit as he tossed the idea around in his mind. if he let her come and go as she pleased, then all in his herd would wish for the right to do so as well. he couldn't simply have horses wandering in and out all the day long. and yet, he so wished for her to accompany him, he felt he would nearly grant her anything so long as she would follow him home.
he brought his gaze back to her, meeting her stunning gaze with his own. i will grant you permission as such, batalla. but i promise you, i shall never give you reason to wish to leave he said with another of his rare smiles, nudging her again softly with his muzzle, inhaling her scent. he whickered then, a soft, low melody for her ears alone, before turning slightly and heading off for their homeland.
ooc- feel free to post in the terra ^.^
