CharThe young Char, heiress to the Roca herd, wandered wearily around the breeding grounds. She could smell the mixed scents of mares and stallions, a thick musk upon the fresh spring air. The aroma caused her brow to furrow and her thin nostrils to quiver with unease. How exactly had she gotten here? The last she remembered she had been racing alongside her young brother, Bullet and in a thicket of shrubs and pines she had lost him. The young filly who was not quite the best at navigating the isle had tried to follow his scent and wound up here much to her dismay. She knew not the name of the lands in which she tred, but the thick aroma made her well aware of its purpose.
A weak whinny left the young mare’s kissers although that was most likely not the wisest of choices considering her location. Yet, she had not caught such a folly for the threat it was beckoning and so once again her light vocals called upon the evening air. Slowly, the night was slipping in, and she became frightful of what would come to her in this dark, ominous land. you'll forget about me real soon if you put you mind to it in the middle - papercut massacre

you're not alone, there is more to this i know, you can make it out, you will live to tell. The Arabian stallion hadn't thought about actually coming here; it was such a forlorn, dismal place that Rune had avoided it untill now. Something about the place, however, called to him, and his ears flicked ever so slightly as he managed his way through the trees and dark shadows that called the breeding grounds their home. Nostrils quivered ever so slightly, his head swarming with the mixture of smells that this place had. He hated to think of the atrocious things stalions did here to innocent mares, but it was all but a fact of life.
Rune's movement ceased, as a new scent caught his attention. Ears flicked forward ever so slightly, as he wondered who would be here when it was so close to night. The scent of the young mare upon the wind was so familiar to Rune, he tried to remember when and where he had smelled it before. Picking up his pace again, he walked toward where the mare stood, ears flicked forward curiously. And finally, he was near her. Upon seeing Char, the recognition of her sparked in the gray stallion's brain, and he sent a soft whinny out to her. "Char! What would you be doing in a place like this," he asked, walking out of the brush he had stopped behind.
He didn't know if Char remembered him or not, but none the less, he knew that the young mare didn't belong in these lands. CHARACTER ! RUNE. LYRICS ! YOU'RE NOT ALONE.SAOSIN. [/blockquote]

CharChar had parted her kissers to beckon upon the air once again but was cut short by the familiar vocals of another. She quickly turned towards the approaching stallion and relief flooded through her entirety. Ah, yes, she recalled Rune! She had been younger the first time she had seen this gray stallion, but that did not cause such memory to falter. The mare leapt forward a few paces so that she was only inches from the confronting stag. A chipper whinny of recollection parted from her lips as she reached her crown forward to cling to the other stallion’s neck in a gesture most resembling a hug. Of course, Char did not think much of her overfriendly motion, but that was just how the young Roca’s mare had always been.
As she pulled away, her legs pranced uneasily in place. “I – I’m not really sure how I got here, Rune!” She confessed in a shrill tone of nervousness. Taking a moment to calm herself for she had always been the type to get overly anxious or excited about the smallest thing, the mare stopped her prancing and focused her blue orbs intently on the gray’s.
“I was racing with my brother,” she explained, “and, well, I am sure you recall I was never the best at finding my way around this island.” The mare would be blushing were it physically possible as she thought about how both times she’d encountered this particular it was due to her faulty navigational skills. “So, I guess it is needless to say, I wound up here,” she added sheepishly.

Eyes watched her, and he was quite surprised when she stepped forward and 'hugged' him. Smiling when she stepped back, the stallion's ears flicked as the young mare spoke. "You don't know how you got here," he asked, shifting slightly. Her brother and her had been racing? The stallion looked around slightly, and frowned. Where would her brother be now? "Where is he then? Surely you haven't lost him."
Smirking, Rune knew that Char wasn't the greatest at navigating around Isola, and he chuckled ever so softly. "Perhaps you should tag along with an adult until you know your way around the Isle then, don't you think, Char? Because then you wouldn't get lost, and end up in places you don't belong." He tilted his head at his question, wondering if she would actually take that bit of advice as him helping, or him telling her what to do. CHARACTER ! RUNE. LYRICS ! YOU'RE NOT ALONE.SAOSIN. CharChar glanced around as he spoke of her brother. “I-I am not really sure where he wound up,” she paused before setting her gaze back on Rune. “Oh, but don’t worry too much about him. Bullet can take care of himself; he knows the island like the back of his hoof.”
Slight offense was taken at Rune’s words, and the mare scoffed. “I am an adult, Rune.” She turned her tiara away from him before stomping a hoof and acting quite the opposite of what she was trying to convince him that she was. The young lass’s anger was not long lasting though – she was too optimistic a spirit to stay angry at him. He was only trying to help, Char. Don’t take things so personally. Yet, his words still slightly bothered her. Fiana, her dear mother, treated the innocent soul as if she were still a filly. Her younger brother was treated more adult than her! Shaking her head, she tried to abandon these thoughts of how irresponsible her mother believed she was. After all, she wasn’t irresponsible, not purposely so at least – she was just a free spirit. “I’m sorry, Rune, you’re right. Perhaps, I should travel with someone who has more experience navigating these lands. And, is not as fast – it was almost like Bullet was trying to lose me,” she giggled. Little did the innocent mare know, that was exactly what Bullet was trying to do. Char was next in line to the throne, and he had never much liked the thought of being ruled by his naïve sister.

Ears flicked back slightly, as Char seemed to snap at him. He had been trying to help. But, as the mare apologized, a small smile crossed the dappled stallion's maw. There is no need for you to apologize, young one. Rune turned his body, moving to Char's side, placing his maw on her shoulder, his smile still upon his muzzle. If you want..I can show you around the island. And, knowing how siblings are, Bullet was probably trying to lose you. They do take advantage of their siblings. Especially if they are jealous. He nudged her shoulder slightly, and moved forward a few steps.
We should get back to your lands, though. These lands are not safe right now, not with war on the brink of happening. He looked back to Char, and flared his nostrils slightly, wondering if the young mare would lead him back to Rocas. Pehraps he would find a home, finally, and be able to rest. His thoughts soon went to Halloween, wondering if she had found a home or not. Word had gotten around that she had had a filly, and that she was living on her own, but... that was the last he had heard about his older sister.
Exiting his fantasy world, he looked to Char again, a shy look crossing his face. Lead the way?

Char tilted her head as he spoke of her brother leaving her behind on purpose. Bullet had always been distant, she could sense that. However, the young mare liked to believe that there was good in every person. She was so clueless to the harsh ways of the island… so sheltered.
When he spoke of returning to Rocas, the mare turned her attention back on the dappled stallion. Where exactly was Rocas? “Well, I… I am not really certain where it is,” she murmured bashfully, shuffling her hooves backwards. A thought sparked in the mare’s mind and she suddenly leaped forward a few paces. The excitable young one pranced in place. “But, if we can find a raven, they can lead us home! I am sure of that!” She trotted forward a few paces, alert to the surroundings for that familiar sound of raven’s caw.
It did not take long for a feathered friend to be found. One of the ebony feathered creatures was on the edge of a branch a few meters off. Upon seeing Char, it perked to life, fluttering from its perch and onto her back. It eyed Rune cautiously before squawking out, “Char, what’cha doin’ here… with… who’re ya?”
Char glanced over her shoulder at the rather large creature. “Hey, Bertrum! Do you know the way home?” The bird cocked his head at Char’s question. He was in slight disbelief, honestly. “Aye, Char, I do…”
