[ Light up the sky like a flame ] Dance with the Devil
·· Baby remember my name ··[/sub] The chestnut outline of the arab. mare was almost a blur, light-footed hooves leaving barely a few thuds along the river's edge as she galloped onward. Her mane and tail were fully windswept due to the nature of her current gait, her head was held close to her neck. Rounded audits were flattened against her head so that the slowly increasing ocean breeze wouldn't drown out any sounds that she might need to notice. Her fiery amber-brown eyes glanced over her shoulder, making sure she hasn't lost Joker on the way there.. Once around the mouth of the river, she'd diverged through a few forests and hills, sooner or later arriving along the grassy hills that lined the coast.. She slowed down immediately as she saw the slowly descending cliffs, coming to a stop as she watched the horizon. Somewhere along the time of their run, night had fallen--and the moon and stars had risen. Their blazing light lit up the ocean like a flame.. causing the waves to sparkle as they crashed amongst each other.

i know there is something in the wake of your smile.. > He had followed her at his pace, which wasn't as fast considering he was younger, but he had managed to keep up. All through the trees and whatever else they had traveled through - really, had he forgotten? - he had been right behind her, admiring how she maintained her speed. Really, was he thinking that? Or was he admiring how pretty the moonlight made her? 'You are a dark, Joker, think and act like one. Not a damn light,' he thought, shaking his head slightly as Devil slowed in front of him.
Knowing they must've reached the beach that the mare spoke of, Joker slowed his pace as well, coming to a halt beside the Arabian. "We are here," the colt asked, quite curious. Of course, he didn't understand that the ground gave way to sand, which eventually led to the vast expansion of water that was called the ocean. His whole life he had been cooped up in Felwood, never allowed to leave it's borders. Since it was his first time out of the place, it startled him slightly.
Turning to look at Devil, he breathed in slightly. There was that Light thought again. She was beautiful. The moon reflected beautifully off her coat, and the stars seemed to reflect in her eyes. He just wanted to tell her ... no. He wasn't going to even say it. Looking back across the vastness of the ocean, he kept his thoughts to himself.

·· Baby remember my name ··[/sub] "Yeah..we're here." She responded, a smile creeping up on her maw once more as she shifted her gaze to his, examining his expressions. She tilted her head slightly, watching the odd mix of emotions which she couldn't decypher.. Why couldn't she read him?.. It was somewhat new to her--usually you could tell somebodys emotions from the look in their eyes, but its as if there were two sides constantly battling in his, which made it harder for her to understand--though, that made it worth the while to try. "Follow me..and watch your step" With those words, she started wandering down the slightly sloping hill, soon reaching ever-shifting sand which gave way under the weight of a horse's hooves. She glanced back at him calmly, hoping he was't having too much trouble with the sand, at least. Her attention, however, was drawn from his hooves to his overal stature--his eyes in specific. Something about him.. It sparked a strange reaction in her, usually she would have been testing his last nerve by now, but she didn't--instead, she'd chosen to show him where she'd been raised. That was awkward enough on its own.. Her nostrils quivered lightly as she forced herself to look away, finally grabbing hold of reality once again. "Don't worry about it moving so much, It gets easier to walk on as you get closer to the water" She added, the smile still firmly planted on her face. Damnit--why wouldn't it go away? It seemed like once she'd gotten rid of it--the corners of her muzzle began to tilt upwards again.

i know there is something in the wake of your smile.. > Bobing his head in response to her words, Joker followed slowly after her, his ears tilted back slightly. He didn't like this new situation, but if he was to hang out with the mare, he would just have to try. Flicking his tail slowly behind him, he slid slightly down the slope. Letting out a loud whinny, almost toppling over from loosing his footing, he finally made it to the bottom of the slope. He pranced across the loose sand, snorting and tossing his head into the air.
"I hate this sand. It's shifting is causing me to become nervous," he said softly, shaking his head violently. He then paused, realizing what the Hell he just said, and looked over at Devil. Smirking, he sauntered over to her slowly, and nudged her neck gently. "You sure do look pretty in this light," he whispered, not really caring if she knew.

·· Baby remember my name ··[/sub] The mare's eyes drifted back to Joker as she saw him struggling in the sand, her ears pricking up as he let out a whinny. Whoops.. Perhaps she should have given him a lesson in how to walk on sand without sliding, or maybe found a way that didn't have the sandy slope--or at least, one that was more subtle in its descent. She watched him, a look of sight concern soon appearing on her face, but fading away to nothing as the struggling seemed to lessen.
"Nervous, huh? A dark? nervous?" she teased, cocking her head to the side as he approached. Her entire expression seemed to freeze in place -- and she could have sworn time did as well -- as he whispered the compliment. The corners of her muzzle headed upwards again -- damned thing, it never did stay still when around him. She lowered her head slightly as she watched, nudging his neck back gently in response. "Thank you..you look pretty handsome yourself," she said, a shy tone reaching her voice. She was surprised by it--since when,in the years that she'd roamed the earth, had she ever used that tone? Her expression remained calm--though her thoughts buzzed around so actively in her head if you didn't know better, you could hear the gears turning.

i know there is something in the wake of your smile.. > "Yes, a dark nervous. Shh," he said, nudging her neck once again. His heart beat quickly in his chest when she said he looked handsome, and he could feel the heat rising under his skin. Looking toward the ocean, he moved away from her, and toward the water. "What shall we do," the colt asked, side-stepping into the waves that were rolling up upon the shore.
The salty sea air played with his nostrils, and he loved the smell of it. Listening to the waves, he could've almost fallen asleep on the beach, if it hadn't been for Devil watching him.

[ Light up the sky like a flame ] Dance with the Devil
·· Baby remember my name ··[/sub] Devil finally gave up fighting the smile, for it seemed like it'd recruited hell's army to fight by its side against her stubbornness.. "Anything you want.." She said, following his footsteps towards the waves. However, she didn't bother to side-step them, she approached them head-on and walked right in, wandering in a bit deeper until the water reached her knees. The coolness of the water at night was refreshing--it didn't have winter's freezing temperatures any longer. The waves were calm tonight.. That was rare, they were usually either highly active and wild like they'd been sent by a storm, or normal--still a bit too active to 'horse around' in. But tonight--it was perfect. Almost as if whatever controlled the tide had decided to let it be enjoyable and calm for this occassion..
She started to prance around lightly, causing some of the water to splash around like she'd done earlier at the pond. "Do you know how to swim?" she asked, looking at him once again.

i know there is something in the wake of your smile.. Watching her closely as she waded into the waters, Joker's ears flicked ever so slightly. Did he know how to swim? "Only slightly," he replied, and moved into the ocean waves slowly. With body considerably smaller than Devils, because he was younger, he could only go so far before the water was to his chest. Nostrils quivered, as he stared at the mare, golden eyes reflecting the moonlight from the surface of the water. "This is as far as I can go. Otherwise, I can't reach the ground." He turned his head away from her, and watched as the water played with his tail, making the strands swirl on top of the surface of the water.

·· Baby remember my name ··[/sub] Devil nodded softly, ears flicking up as she turned her head to watch him. She tossed her mane, wading back inland a few feet so that she was around the same depth in which he stood. The waves, though calm, still had their slight undertow--causing the sand under her hooves to give way, sinking her slightly until she stood at about the same height as him. "So, the horse earlier that came out from the woods.. he was your dad?" she asked, ears flattening softly so that she wouldn't get any saltwater in them. She cocked her head a bit, giving a soft snort as she watched his tail float in the water, nudging some of the water his way in a small splash, much like she'd done earlier at the pond--though, watching out for his nostrils this time.

i know there is something in the wake of your smile.. The water that she splashed at him didn't manage to get in his nostrils, but it splashed him all the same. He smirked, and moved so that a small wave was created with his body, sent right toward the mare. "Yeah. He was my dad," Joker said shortly, not really wanting to talk about his dad. Nefarian was a slight power-hungry stallion, although he didn't act like such a dark at times. Especially since Hannibal had appeared in his lands with his mare Spirit. But, that had been before winter, and now, Hannibal had moved on. Ever since that hellion's visit to his father's lands, Nefarian had been slightly different in the way he treated everyone. It was as if he were trying to prove himself to Hannibal, as if the Devil's minion had a plan for their small herd.
Ears flicked, and he looked at Devil, and smiled faintly. "If my mother had been around, maybe you and her would get along. She's alright when she's not being moody, and when Kendora, my sister, isn't being a pain."

·· Baby remember my name ··[/sub] Devil lifted her head just fast enough to evade the small wave he created that would have otherwise splashed her face. She tossed her mane lightly, fiery amber eyes turning their gaze to the horizon as she listened to his words. "You two look very similar," she said, a subtle smile washing up on the rims of her face, though her visual attention was still held by the sea. Something about it always intrigued her--it was by far one of the most destructive forces there could be, yet it was still capable of being calm and captivating. She didn't know how such a thing could work--which made it all the more interesting. She quickly turned her head back to Joker's direction, rounded brown ears pricking up as he spoke about his mother and sister. "You sure don't like your family, huh?" she asked, realizing how he'd mare subtle comments about them in the past conversations. "I guess that's the one thing we can't really decide on.." Her voice got a more solemn tone as she spoke, though she quickly caught herself towards mid-sentence and regained her usual composure. The mare raised her tail lightly, flicking it, and sending beads of water flying off into the air.

i know there is something in the wake of your smile.. "Its not that I don't like my family, its how my family acts that annoys me. They don't act like Darks at times. I am beginning to wonder what they are." His ears flicked, and Joker looked to where Devil was looking off to. Nostrils quivered ever so slightly, and he moved to her side, ears tilted forward. "What you lookin' at?" He hadn't been too fascinated with things, but Devil just left the colt in a frenzy. What was it about her that riled him up so? Shaking his head slightly, he took advantage of the mare's distraction to splash her with some more water.
Smirking ever so slightly, he stepped away from her, so that she couldn't reach over and bite him. He knew that if he was in such close proximity of her, and she wanted to, she could drag him under the water and drown him. And, that was one thing he didn't want. He didn't want to die how Hannibal had; being drown. That was one thing that scared him the most, was dying because of another horse.

"I see.." she said, voice trailing off as she listened to the colt's words. The slight smile still lingered on the mare's maw as he approached her, though her attention was still held by the darkened, glistening horizon. She really wasn't that interested in the sea, though it was pretty; her main reason for watching it was that it was something else to look at, besides Joker. He had a certain aura about him, she couldn't quite put her hoof on it but it drew her in like a moth to a flame--and she liked it. However, she had to play along with the cold-shoulder game. She'd done this for most of her life and though that only meant two years or so, it was still what she was most acquainted with. She'd come to recognize that if you wanted to hang on to something, you had to show no interest in it. Otherwise, it'd be ripped away.. She shook her tiara lightly at the thought, clearing her head--ahh, another reflex she'd come to learn. Whenever she was thinking of something she didn't want others to know, she ended up shaking the thought away almost as if to send it flying off into the abyss. Nostrils flared as her attention was drawn back out of lala-land and to the water that Joker had splashed her way. She snorted softly, shaking a few beads of water off of her mane and dipping her head to send a few retaliation-splashes back his way. A playful smirk washed up on the tips of her maw, refueling the mare's face with expression--a change from the thoughtful, emotionless state that she'd held for a few seconds. "I was looking at the horizon." She said, a laugh finding its way into her voice as her tail flicked about in a lively manner. "How longer do you think you can stay before your dad gets worried?" she said, her thoughts lingering back to the fact that he was a yearling, and she had practically kidnapped him, running off on a wild goose chase-type adventure to the sea..

"I don't think my dad will worry about me being gone. He doesn't really care what I do, as long as its not romping around in some Light's land, or bothering other herds that'll declare war against him." Joker smirked slighlty, and flicked his tail through the water. He turned slowly, facing the shore, and walked toward it, his ears tilted forward ever so slightly. "But I do have to get out of the water. Or else I'm going to become water-logged."
He smirked, and once he was upon the beach, turned and looked at Devil still standing in the ocean. It took him a few moments before he could tear his eyes away from her, and he could, once again, feel the heat rise in his body from embarassment. He was younger than her, by far, and besides, he doubted he had a chance with a mare like her. Especially because of his age.

Devil nodded subtly as he spoke, as if to let it be known that she'd been paying attention. "So, do you always do what daddy says?" she asked, grinning as a miscievous look washed over her otherwise playful face. Amber-brown eyes glistened brightly, almost as if they'd been set afire by the moon's reflection on the water. She turned her head lightly, watching as he made his way back to the shore. "That's actually not a bad idea.." She pricked her ears up slightly as she turned her gaze to survey the area around her, treasuring the refreshing feel of the water before she made her way back out after him, her hooves leaving a faint impression on the sand. She The strawberry blonde tassels of her tail whipped in the air behind her, sending water droplets flying back down to the sand as she came to a stop just a few feet from him. She shook her mane, getting all of it, including the forelock, to fall over the right side of her neck before she lowered her head to groom her legs, which had some sand on them. However--her attention was taken quickly away from the sand and to a new pattern on her coat that hadn't been there prior. The mare's cream-colored hooves seemed to be giving off a faint glow in the moonlight, and a lightning-like streak of white seemed to be running up from her right sock all the way to her shoulder, where it ended. the small stripe and snip markings on her face--though they kept their shape--also seemed to be giving off the same dull glow that her hooves had. Her eyes seemed to fill and overload themselves with so much confusion that whatever had been causing such a change seemed to vanish altogether. The markings on her right leg disappeared, and with it went the dull glow--which left the young filly in even more confusion. "..Awkward.." she muttered, eats flicking up as she raised her head once again--hoping that he hadn't noticed a thing. However, there was a very slim chance that he'd missed the entire thing.
