feelin like a freak on a leash ! »The chestnut arab thundered through Cascata, her young colt running close to her hip. It was nearly midnight; the full moon hung in the sky, slightly covered by a thin layer of silver clouds. Sweat gleamed on the pairs' hides, and muscles burned from being overworked for so long.
»The arab breathed in the night air from wide and flaring nares, ears pricked and straining as she listened intently for signs of persuit. All was quiet except for their hoofbeats. Green irises shifted to the colt who was struggling to stay by her side. "Why does we has to weave, momma?" he'd asked when she had roused him hours before. "We're going home" was all she said before they had left, fleeing from Morte.
»Lynx began to slow, dancing on legs that felt like they were on fire. They had covered half the isle in only a few hours; arabian blood could come in handy sometimes. Blazer gladly slowed down as well, pricking his ears to look around him warily. He yawned. His mother sighed, giving him a nudge on his nose. "Go to sleep, darling," she said softly, watching as her foal gladly sank to the floor under one of the willows and drifted to sleep. A feeling of guilt washed over the mare. She shouldn't have taken him on such a trip at such a young age.
»The chestnut arab looked away, shame-faced, and searched the willow forest for any signs of life. She let the sound of the river in the distance calm her, allowing her to steady her breathing. Things were going as planned; Aro wasn't following, probably checking on his other mares. Why deal with her, anyway? He spread his bloodline, wasn't that good enough for him? And now, all there was they needed to to was to rest and leave in the morning.

Lassan had been grazing in Terra delle Liberta when a heard a couple of the ravens coming in squaking loudly at him. The Arab put his ebony auds back for a moment in annoyance, thinking that one of the gossipy girls was going to tell him something that he could go his whole life without knowing, or caring for that matter. But this ebony bird was not one of the younger, gossipy, female ones. This raven was his old friend Giltrent. Obviously what ever the raven had to say was something important.
"Yes?" Lassan asked, lifting his head and twisting it around so he could look at the raven, who had perched on his back. "I've some news fer ya." Giltrent told him. Lassan stared at hte bird for a moment before inquiring further. "Yes?" The raven looked up to the sky for a moment and ruffled his feathers before speaking any further. "I 'member that mare ya had 'ere 'while back. Li'tle Taren's mother. Whats was 'er anme 'gain?" the ebony bird said. "Lynx." Lassan answered, only to be cut off again. "Righ' Lynx." Giltrent said with a sure nod of his sleek head. " 'Nyway Lynx escaped from that devil Aro with her new col'. Blazer I think he's called now." Lassan raised his brow at hearing this. "Where is she now Giltrent?" he eagerly asked, his chocolate orbs lighting up a bit. "She an' 'er li'tle 'un are in the willowed woods. She's on the side closer t'this land." With that the raven flew away and Lassan galloped off.
-~-~-~-~-~-
The ebony stallion came to a halt as he entered Cascata Piu Forest. His orbs scanned the landscape for any sign of Lynx and Blazer. It only took him a couple minutes to locate a set of tracks and their scents.
No more than five minutes later, Lassan had the pair locked in his visual range. He let out a whinny as he galloped up to them and halted several strdes away, still keeping watch for Aro if he was nearby for any reason.

feelin like a freak on a leash ! »Lynx nearly jumped out of her skin as the whinny sounded off, whipping around with her teeth bared and ears back. She blinked in surprise, though, when she saw that the horse that had called to her was't Aro, but Lassan. She relaxed, her ears pricking. "Lassan!" she said, trotting forward to close the distance he left between them, a smile stretching on her maw. The mare nudged him affectionetly on the nose. "How did you know we were here?" she asked curiously, cocking her tiara slightly.

The grin on Lassan's ebony maw grew wider as the chestnut closed the distance in between them. Lassan breathed a sigh of relief. Lynx and Blazer were safe from Aro. For now. "I'm so happy to see you. Both of you." Lassan said glancing between her and her colt. Lynx then asked him where he had heard about them from. "I little bird told me." he said with a smile. "Litterally. A little black bird. Well actually he's not all that little." Lassan rambled on.
The Arab looked over his shoulder and then back behind Lynx, making sure that Aro wasn't coming close to them. It was most likely that they had thrown him off and Aro probably didn't care about them anymore. "We'd better get goin' before night fall. It'll be safer for Blazer and lessen the chance of Aro coming to look for you."

feelin like a freak on a leash ! » The chestnut nodded her head, laughing softly. "Ah yes, the Ravens," she recalled, thinking of the sleek black birds that were almost always seen flying through the trees back at Liberta. The memory of her old home fired energy through her dainty bodice, and made her all the happier that the Ravens had told him that she and Blazer were here. She'd have to thank them one time.
» Lynx nodded again in agreement when the stallion suggested leaving. The glanced up at the overcasted sky, giving the day a solemn air. The smell of rain was strong on the breeze. But it seemed that Aro wasn't going to show up. And, for a odd reason that Lynx could not even explain, she was disapointed and slightly annoyed with that fact. It seemed to her that she wasn't worth much, once she thought about it. It took Lassan nearly a year to find her (or search for her), and it seemed that Aro didn't seem to care that she had run away. She frowned lightly, tears welling up in her green eyes. She turned away so Lassan couldn't see, and looked over at the willow where she could see her colt, awake and gazing at them with curious light green eyes and pricked ears. "Yeah..." she agreed half-heartedly, before trotting over to her son, nudging him to his feet. "Buh momma!" he protested, wagging his fluffy tail furiously. Lynx nuzzled him, sighing. "I'll make you a deal. If you just stay awake for a little while longer, then I'll let you sleep all you want. And.." she said, widening her eyes to try and get him excited, (it seemed to work) "you and eat all you want!"
» Blazer nodded vigirously, pawing the ground briefly with a tiny hoof. "Yum!" Lynx nodded, smiling, and turned to walk back over to the eboney stallion. "Alright, then. All set," she said, motioning for the stallion to lead the way with a flick of her chestnut tail.

"They may be gossipy little buggers, but they sure are helpful." he added when the chestnut instantly figured out what he was talking about. Lassan really did owe his life to those birds. They had saved him and his friends and family in so many ways. It was an odd thing to say, but Lassan would be willing to do anything for those birds. They really deserved it.
Lassan watched as Lynx as she turned around for a moment. Lassan cocked his head and was about to ask her what was wrong when she walked over to her olt and attempted to persuade the lad to follow them back home. Lassan smiled at the colt once Lynx had brought him over. "Hello Blazer." he said touching his nose to the colt's. "I am Lassan." The Arab lifted his crown and looked to Lynx this time. "We aren't far at all, maybe a ten minute walk or so.'
ooc// you just wanna post in Liberta now?

feelin like a freak on a leash ! » Blazer pricked his ears and sniffed the stallion. He recognized his scent; he was the horse that had visited his momma before. He smelled nice. He could smell small traces of the scent on his momma; he wondered why.
» Lynx nodded at Lassan, sniffing the air. Yes, she could smell Liberta from here. She pricked her ears, gazing off in the direction Lassan had come from. "Good," said the mare, smiling, before trotting past Lassan, glancing behind her at him, tail flicking. Blazer quickly followed, curious.

Finally the trio had reached Liberta. They had walked the remainder of the way in comfortable silence. Lassan was just glad to get Lynx back. Even if she did have another colt. Lassan was always glad to add new members to the herd, especially young ones who were taught right. Luckily Blazer hadn't spent enough time in Aro's herd to become like him, but of course Lynx would never allow that.
"Welcome home!" Lassan exclaimed as they entered the land. He gave a sidelong glance ot the chestnut Arab and to the colt. Lassan's orbs then flicked to the land in front of him. He then caught sight of Taren and whinnied to him. "Oh Lynx, someone has been waiting for you to come home."

Aro ........ TWISTED chuckling entered the soft night air as the bastard emerged from the eerie black woods. 'my dear, i'm not stupid. i knew you were going to try and leave. once lassan an taren approached, i knew they were going to try an convince you to go back to liberta.' He grinned, in a twisted, evil way. Aro approached her and ran his muzzle down her neck softly. 'dearest, what mad you think you could escape?' He hissed, his muzzle trailing down her cheek. His sandy forelock covered his copper eyes, which were surely laughing at the mare.
.....'DEAREST, you really shouldn't have left..' Aro smirked, reared and aimed to strike the mare in the cranium. Once the mare was on the ground, he bent own and snarled 'you are welcome to stay, but you will return blazer once he is weaned, or there will be consequences.' The stallion turned and looked to Blazer. 'my son, i am sorry you had to see me do that. my apologies come from my heart, blazer.' Aro nodded, and turned to face the mare again..

feelin like a freak on a leash ! » Lynx trotted eagerly into Liberta, drinking in the old and familiar scents. She grinned brightly at Lassan, irises glittering happily. She turned her head when Lassan mentioned someone waiting for her, and spotted Taren. She whinnied joyously. Taren pricked his ears and whinkered back, starting to canter towards them, but slid to a stop with a snort of alarm as Aro appeared from the trees.
» The chestnut arab blinked in confusion, but then heard the leering, sadistic voice and the muzzle touching along her bodice. She froze, eyes shifting to the kiger mustang nervously. When he reared, she squealed in alarm as he struck her head. Pain throbbed, but she instantly retaliated. She flattened her ears to her skull, backing up to push her colt out of the way. Blazer stumbled away, winkering softly in fear, sensing the hostility radiating off his mother. It confused him. The stallion was his daddy, weren't he and his momma supposed to get along? Lynx bared her teeth, and reared up as well, throwing her head back and screaming in rage. How dare he hit her? She held on her back legs for a moment, glaring down at the stag as he tried to tell her "what's what". "Never! You gave him to me, and so he's my colt! I'd like to see you try and take him from me!" she screached, before leaping at Aro with snapping teeth, seemingly loosing awareness that Lassan and her other foal, Taren, were present.

Lassan's optics narrowed as he saw Aro waltz into his land and go straight up to Lynx, telling her that she should give Blazer back to him. Lassan looked to Taren, who was next to him, and said "Taren, stay behind me please, just in case something happens, which I hope it won't."
The ebony stallion now moved closer to Aro and Lynx. "Ah, Aro, what a nice surprise." he said, his voice very sardonic. "Y'know, I never came there to try and 'steal' Lynx away from you. She left on her own free will." Lassan stated, malice evident in his lyrics. Hopefully Aro would leave soon and there would not be any need to fight. Even though Lassan did not like the Darks, he still kept things down to verbal jousts instead of physical fights, which would be very bad on both herds. "Oh and Aro, once Blazer is weaned, he'll be responisble for his own descision on whether or not he wants t'come back to your land." Once colts and fillies reached weaning age, they were technically on their own and were respaonsible for their own choices. Most of the time, they still stayed and depended on their mothers in some way for a year or so after that.

Aro ........ THE KIGER merely flinched as her ivories came in contact with his painted shoulder. 'yes, but if you remember, you didn't want him, and always thought about ending his life. what kind of a mother would you be if you lived with your unwanted foal and thought about what it would be like if you had ended his life. and for you, lassan, stay out of this or i'll have you bloody unconscious.' Copper optics hidden by his forelock, he grinned, a creepy evil sort of way.
.....'YOU SEE, i don't work this way. i was willing to let you two live in liberta until he was weaned, but you didn't accept my offer. looks like you chose the bad end of the deal, lynx.' The overo bastard stood a few hands over them all, and was very capable of crushing one of their skulls with a mere thrust of his cream hoof. Aro snarled, and pushed his whole weight on the mare, hoping to weaken her enough she would surrender. He grinned 'mote's waiting on you, lynx.' And at that he aimed a blow to her ribs with a silver tower. Have you ever met a living legend, just a real friend who planned his end and... this love, this hate, it burnin me away ! » Lynx narrowed her eyes, which were burning with pure loathing at the kiger. "How would you know?" she spat, "I could never think of harming a baby! I don't know what you thought, but you thought wrong." She shuffled her hooves, jerking her tiara and stumbling back as the stallion shoved her down easily. She squealed, quickly scrambling to her feet again ungracefully. She turned with a snort, nipping her son lightly on the rump and nudged him off, sending him into a paniced gallop. Lynx lashed her tail and followed, hooves thundering against the terf. Blazer was hers, she wasn't going to give him up to that insane brute.

Aro ........ A FERAL snarl escaped his maw, and with a glare back at Lassan he followed his mare and colt in a gallop. The kiger caught up with them easily, cutting off the mare and taking the colt with him. 'i'm sorry, son. mommy will meet up with us later, kay?' Aro nudged the colt into the fastest its small form could go and the two headed to Morte, leaving the arabian mare in the dust...

feelin like a freak on a leash ! » Blazer blinked at his father, but followed him obediantly, ears flicking from flattened to pricked back and forth. Lynx snorted, skidding to a hault as she realized her foal wasn't with her. She looked over to see Aro vanish into the forest with her colt. She screamed in rage, turning to gallop to where she seen them dispear. She looked around franticly, nostrils flaring, for the pair, but they were out of sight. "MOTHER FUCKER!" she yelled into the forest, slowing down, tears welling up in her eyes.
» This was too confusing for Blazer. His daddy was taking him home, but his momma wasn't very happy about it. The young colt could hear his mother screaming from behind them. His momma lied; he didn't get to eat at all!
»Lynx stood there, ears forward as she listened for sound. It was quiet. She whinnied her loss, before turning bitterly away with a lash of her chestnut tassel, walking back through the forest until she reached the clearing. She gazed at Lassan and Taren solemnly. "They're gone..
