Day and night, the lonely loner
seems to free his mind at night. This colt was getting on his nerves once again, and Marut snorted, still refraining from interrupting their conversation. But, he knew something wasn't right about this whole situation, something was terribly wrong. Blue eyes, darker than they had been previously, stared at Orpheus in hate, his ears flattened down. However, the words that he wanted to say, seemed to already be said, the wind rushing around in the cave. "Orpheus, your words are lies. You do not care about anyone but yourself, and you know that. If you dare harm Mother, I will make sure you pay for it."
Somehow, Bolin had managed to find them, channeling his own powers into the cave beneath his hooves. Marut, clearly impressed, smirked at the Era's words to his twin. Thinking the wind would die down, Marut was wrong. It whipped around them again, running through the hairs of Marut's mane and tail. The white stallion watched Orpheus for his reaction, still curious as to how the new Era Lead had managed to hear Orpheus' words through yards of rock and dirt. word count - 1035character used - MARUT[/blockquote] MARUT

Orpheus bared his teeth as the wind rushed in relaying Bolin’s words. How dare he interfere! As the wind swirled around them, the young stallion’s feet braced themselves, his ears went back, and his tail slapped the air viciously. “Mother, who are you going to believe,” he demanded harshly. Ah, yes, this harshness was something Tuula knew well; it appeared Orpheus just couldn’t contain his anger any longer.
Tuula really didn’t know what to think. She wanted to believe none of it and all of it. Stomping her hooves, her wit came back to her. She once more became the mare that could think on her feet, the one that Hannibal had fallen in love with at one time. “Orpheus, I believe I will have to take my chance with Bolin. Can you blame me in consideration of the past?” She watched for his reaction; what he did would tell her what she really needed to do.
That it did, for the colt lashed out, taking another bite at her neck. The mare reared back, lashing her forelegs at the colt. With a snarling noise, the colt jumped back whipping around. He lunged for the forest, only stopping for a moment at the forest’s edge. “You will rue this day!”
“Thank you, both of my sons. Each of your reactions has told me the way to go.” The wind swirled around her words for both to hear.
Orpheus flung himself into a buck before galloping off into the woods. He had no plans of returning to Inferno, but he needed to vent. He would wait it out. Wait for his mother or brother to slip up so badly that Hannibal would have to get involved. Once again, he began to plot.
Tuula took a few steps after her son, tossing her head slightly. As much as it hurt, she would wash herself of Orpheus and his actions. Suddenly turning about, her head lowered again. “Marut, I am sorry for my gullibility. I should not have been so rash; I just wanted to believe it so badly.”

Day and night, the lonely loner
seems to free his mind at night. With Orpheus' little tantrum, Marut could do nothing but smile. Flicking his ears as he listened to them all converse, he stood there idly, his own mind reeling. The wind from Bolin had died down, having gotten his mother's message he was content, up above making sure things went the way they were in his new lands. In the cave, however, Marut finally came back to his senses as Tuula spoke to him. Noticing the mare's actions, Marut let out a gentle nicker, taking a few steps toward her, placing his muzzle upon his shoulder before he spoke. "M'lady Tuula. We all want to believe that there is good within others. With your mate and your son, I doubt they have a fiber of goodness in them. But, those are just my thoughts." He removed his muzzle from her shoulder, feeling he had intruded upon Hannibal's personal space by touching his mate. "You need to rest. Sleep in the back of the cavern, I will make sure nothing makes it past the cavern's entrance." He flicked his tail behind his large body, a small smile crossing his muzzle.

Tuula glanced back at Marut as she felt his muzzle resting on her shoulder momentarily. Her ears shifted forwards as he spoke, and she smiled slightly. “Orpheus, I am not so sure if there is any good in him. At one time, there was in Hannibal, though.” She paused for a moment, her gaze wishful and longing as she peered at the horizon. “But,” she gulped and paused, “that time has passed. I will always love him, but that doesn’t mean I cannot move on as it appears that he has. I will not be returning to Inferno.” She nodded to herself, as if to reassure what she had said was correct. Then, she turned back towards Marut, nudging his shoulder with her maw as she passed thinking nothing of the touch she gave him. That is just how Tuula was, and it was her way of showing him her appreciation... and, perhaps she enjoyed the way his fur felt against her touch. “You don’t have to do that.”

Day and night, the lonely loner
seems to free his mind at night. Again, another electrical charge through his body at Tuula's touch. What was wrong?! Flicking his ears at her words, he sighed slightly. "Then, Miss Tuula, if you are not going back to Inferno, and you are not going to Bolin so quickly, would you join me while I wander around to see how many other Era there are? I'd enjoy the company." He smiled faintly, the thought of having the mare as a travel companion sure did seem fine to him. If she didn't want to, he understood. Letting his tail sway behind his body, he followed her movements with his eyes. "But, I feel like I need to protect you."

Bobbing her head slightly at his words she walked towards the most inner point of the cave. She turned to face him once more, “I think I would enjoy that.” The idea certainly did not sound like a bad one. And, with another set of eyes and ears on her side, she would not have to be quite so paranoid. She lay down as he spoke his last remark, shifting so that her back was facing the cavern wall. The mare held her head off the ground for a moment, smiling at him. “Well, just promise me you won’t deprive yourself of rest on my behalf. Between the two of us, I am certain one of us would wake if danger was around.” That said, she lowered her crown to the ground, falling asleep almost instantaneously.

our name is our virtue | Watching as she lie down, Marut walked to her side, his head lowered. He was glad she would be accompanying him around; he didn't believe the mare should be going out alone. Flicking his tail behind him slowly, he then walked so that he was behind her, his ears flicked forward. "Sleep well, Miss Tuula," he whispered, sinking down behind her, his head raised so that he could see out of the cavern. The white stallion kept his distance from the mare, still respecting territorial issues and the like. Flicking his tail against the ground, his eyes drifted shut slowly, sleep finally washing over him. It was better to sleep now, than later, in his opinion. Many dreams seemed to attack his mind at the same time, and he flared his nostrils in his sleep, trying to not dream of anything at the moment; to keep a clear head.

The mare’s mind was plagued with dreams; some were memories, others creations of her mind’s doing, and some were good and peaceful, others made shrill whuffles escape her maw in their terror. Eventually, all the dreams came to a compromise – they settled to be still, silent, completely blank. It felt like she had slept for days, when in fact it had only been four hours. The rest was much needed, and coupled with her hour of unconsciousness earlier, she now felt rejuvenated. Shaking her tiara lightly, the mare rose up. Her groggy orbs searched the cave for Marut. She did not see him. Her ears lowered slightly, but she knew it was for the best. It was dangerous to be with her right now.
When she rose, she was alarmed to see his form resting behind where she stood. A smile etched her kissers and she crept towards the entrance – there was no need to wake him now. In fact, she was just, well, relieved to see him there at all. She settled for grazing contently at the opening of the cave. One eyes was on the white steed, the other on the wilderness at all times.

the nightmares and the hate | Lying there for that many hours gave the white stallion stiff legs, though he continued to rest. He hadn't had a decent sleep in days, always on the move, always searching for other Era. Ears flicked slightly, hearing Tuula's movements, and he sighed inwardly. Tail flicked against the ground, and eyes opened slowly to look at the grazing form of the mare. A small smile crossed Marut's maw, and he pushed himself up, shaking out his coat as he did so. "I take it you slept well," the white Era asked, flicking his ears forward as he approached Tuula. Stopping at her side, he nuzzled her shoulder gently, in a soothing manner, and then lowered his own muzzle to rip a few blades of grass from the ground.

Tuula raised her head up, still gnawing on a mouthful of fresh foliage, as she saw the steed come to his feet. “I hope I did not wake you,” left her melodies before she lowered her maw to the ground. A shudder went down her spine as the stag nuzzled her shoulder. An involuntary whuffle and voluntary smile offered that the shudder was of no annoyance. It had been so long since she had been around someone so light-hearted; it was certainly welcoming.
The mare raised her maw again as he began to graze. “That I did,” she murmured as he spoke of how she slept. Sure, there were nightmares, but there were also some really good dreams too. With a quick smirk, she once more lowered her crown. The speckled ivory grazed beside her counterpart in silence. Every now and then she would move to a new patch of grass. Finally, she found one that contented her. It was not because the grass was any particular bit better. No, instead, it was because it left her shoulder to lean gently against his barrel. And, she was not sure what it was, but there was something most comforting in his touch.

i can be your hero, baby. | Smiling as she spoke, Marut flicked his tail slowly behind his large body. "No, Miss Tuula, you didn't wake me." He nickered faintly as she shuddered, catching the wuffle and the smile. This made his heart melt, and he flicked his ears toward her. Blue eyes watched the mare wander around, nibbling on the grass, and he lowered his own head to chomp on some more. When Marut felt the weight of the speckled female upon his side, he lifted his head and glanced at Tuula, the softest smile possibly upon his maw. She had really grown onto him, and he didn't want to leave her side. A soft nicker escaped him, a content sound, and he lowered his head yet again to graze. However, his peaceful nature wavered, and he lifted his head up slightly. Ears flicked back, and his eyes looked around. Shaking his head, his teal striped mane danced down his neck. Turning his head, he looked back at Tuula once again, his tail flicking over her body gently.

At first, her orbs peered up as the stag shook his head. When his tail gently hit over her body, the mare’s whole crown followed suit of her eyes -- not that she minded the gentle flick. She gulped down the last morsel of grass in her maw. He almost seemed restless. Her own ears went back as she gave him a quizzical glance. Her neck stretched out that she could tap the edge of his cheek as if questioning what was wrong. The wind whistled by and her nares flare, towers flicking slightly. Was there something out there that she had missed? Or, was it something out on his mind. A soft nicker left her melodies as she questioned again what had changed his peacefulness .

i can be your hero, baby. | Feeling her tap his cheek, Marut turned to look at her once again. "It is nothing, m'dear. Do not worry yourself with it," he smiled softly, and reached over, nuzzling her own cheek gently. A soft nicker escaped him, and he then stepped back, so that they stood shoulder to shoulder. Moving his head, he reached over, running his muzzle along her neck, massaging it gently. He flared his nostrils, blowing out against her neck faintly, his tail flicking behind his body slowly.

Tuula &Orpheus °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Tuula was not sure she believed his words; she did not quite understand. It bugged her a little not to know. What was going on? However, the mare would show him the same respect he had shown her previously and say nothing else about it.
Instead, she focused on the gentle tap he gave her cheek and the tickle of his heated breath against her skin. The tickle did not arouse laughter but a whole other emotion. Her ears glicked forwards before she bent her neck slight to peck his ear. The mare snorted a gentle breath at it, and with a supressed amusement at the instinctual flicker that she knew would follow, Tuula nipped at his pelt - gingerly grooming his neck.
Orpheus was an impatient colt. He couldn't stand idle as he awaited the pair to fo something so wrong that Hannibal would have no choice but to come out. The two were touching, he could smell their mixed scents on the wind. That was enough, and perhaps he might stretch the truth slightly? Tell his father that the two had been more intimate. It was not below him to lie.
He raced off towards Inferno, a good four day trek there and back with minimal rest.°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° From the lack of sleep and the bloodshot eyes To the nervous kiss and the butterflies iNSPiRATiON; [BEST MISTAKE] [by JAMISONPARKER] word-count; ; [2O9] ' O°C | | Soz, I /finally/ got around to making my character post layout thing'a'mo'bob. a girl like you is impossible to find | At the breath on his ear, it twitched slightly, and he snorted, glancing at her. Smirking, his coat moved slightly as she touched his neck, clearly enjoying the touch of the mare. Flicking his tail behind him, he breathed out slowly, lowering his head to pick off a few more blades of grass. A hoof stomped the ground gently, and he nickered; she had found a spot that felt good to be rubbed. Marut's ears tilted slightly, and he breathed out again. There were thoughts upon his mind that shouldn't have been there, and he shook his head, ridding himself of them. How dare he think like that. Flicking his ears back at his stupidity, he could've kicked himself for thinking of it.
